Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: If you are allergic to aspirin, these may affect you the same way

There is little difference between this cheap brand of ibuprofen and other more expensive brands.

Galpharm is a brand which is found as a cheaper alternative in shops like Wilkinson's and Cut price chemist type shops.

The low price doesn't mean low quality. Nurofen (which is much more expensive) is ibuprofen.

Ibuprofen is a painkiller and the Galpharm variety comes in cardboard boxes which contain 16 tablets for around £1. These can cost three times the price if you buy the branded varieties.

It reduces inflammation and is sold for the relief of headache, toothache, back pain and various other conditions. It is an effective painkiller for most people.

My own experience of these was very different. I took two of these to relieve severe migraine and had a severe allergic reaction to them.

They actually provoked a serious asthma attack and severe chest pain. This was an allergic reaction.

I am also allergic to aspirin and ibuprofen belongs to the same family of painkillers.

If you are allergic to aspirin, you may also have a reaction to ibuprofen, so beware.

These tablets come in a white blister pack with a foil covering and work well for most people. It was on the recommendation of a friend that I tried them.

If you like Neurofen, these are a cheaper alternative which is just as effective. In fact it is almost identical.

Summary: Cheap and just as effective

People with asthma should steer clear of NSAIDs (Non-seteroidal anti inflammatory drugs) such as ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen etc. ALWAYS check with your pharmacist.

I had no idea iboprofen was part of the aspirin family! I hope you are over your allergic reaction now.
