Problems With Wind? Not Any More.

Advantages: Pretty quick relieve of colic/trapped wind
Disadvantages: Having to discard within 28 days of opening
Having recently had a baby girl one of the first real obstacles we come up against was trapped wind and colic which was causing quite a bit of discomfort for our little one. In turn this meant that we were having problems getting her to sleep especially in the evening from 6pm onwards as this is when the colic usually seemes to kick in.
After staying up with baby until midnight and later on a few nights with no respite and little sleep for all of us we were recommended Infacol by a friend. As with anything we were dubious about giving any form of medication to our almost new-born so we stopped in at the pharmacy to get some further advice. We were assured that Infacol is fine to use from birth and is indeed intended foe the relieve of colic. Armed with this information we purchased a 50ml bottle of Infacol for £2.70.
The active ingredient in Infacol is Simeticone, the other ingredients used to make it which are, Saccharin Sodium, methyl hydroxybenzoate, propyl hydroxbenzoate, purified water and orange flavouring.
The advised dose is 0.5ml per feed which is easily measured using the pippette supplied with the lid of the bottle. The instructions claim this can be increased to 1ml if necessary but if problems persist after this to visit your GP as the problem may be more severe.
When we actually come to give Infacol to our baby we were highly amused by the faces made at the orange flavouring but it wasn't spat out so must have been pallitable. Although advised to give with every feed we started including Infacol with just morning and evening feeds 0.5ml at a time. This didn't do the job so we decided another dose of 0.5ml in the middle of the day may be necessary.
Giving Infacol 3 times a day has made a great difference to our little one with far less trapped wind, more farts and most definately more burps when we come to wind her. The ultimate result of this being a far happier more comfortable baby who is a lot easier to get to sleep without the pains of colic preventing her dropping off for hours at a time.
The instructions advise that whatever isn't used after 28 days of opening is discarded but for something so cheap with such good results I do not consider this to be a hardship.
Overall I would say that this product is worth its weight in gold a damn sight more than the £2.70 we paid for it. I will be forever indebted to the recommendee of this product as the amount of stress this product has saved and the amount of sleep it has earned me and my partner is quite unbelievable. I would not hesitate to recommend this product to anybody with a new-born with colic as the amount of stress and pain it quite obviously saves our little one as said above is worth its weight in gold.
Summary: Good product for use from birth
