Karvol is a product that can be used to ease congestion when you have a cold and help you to breathe more easily. We tend to use it at night time as this is the most irritating time to be blocked up and I find it difficult trying to get to sleep when I am all bunged up so do my children.

Packaging

It comes in a cardboard box and then you open this to find a small glass bottle. Remove the lid and at the top of the bottle you will find a pin size hole to let the product pass thorough for application. It has a lid that is easy to remove and re add so that it helps keep the product fresh

How to use

For babies over 3 months and young children (not for children less than 3 months). Put 6 drops onto a hankie secured near to, but out of the child's reach.For older children and adults put 6 drops onto bedding, hankie or tissue or into a pint of water. Only inhale the vapour. Do not put drops directly into the mouth or nose as it will cause irritation and it is dangerous.

I use the same method suggested for children and simply drop some of the product on my bed covers and it works well it does really smell and although it is not a major problem while having a cold you can definitely still smell the scent.

Our experience

What I found with this is it runs freely and so although it only has a small hole in the top of the bottle it still means it runs rather quickly. This can make it hard to get the exact dosage suggested but you do get used to it each time you use it which makes it easier.

As soon as the liquid leaves the bottle I can smell the scent of the menthol begin to do it job. I can feel it working its way and slowly bit by bit my nose is unblocked and I can begin to breathe freely again. In all it takes around 5 minutes for the product to have its full effect which to be honest is a speedy result. Also because the smell is so strong it lasts for hours so you can apply it before you go to bed and wake up in the morning and you still feel uncongested and can breathe easily. Once away from the product the results last for around an hour when I can slowly feel my congested nose creeping back up on me.

My children are like me and find the smell really over bearing but it does stop their irritation and helps them settle so they can get a good night's sleep. It works on all 5 of us in the household so is fit for use by all the family.

Summary

This product is suitable from ages 3 months plus and costs around £2 for a 12ml bottle which as you only need a few drops lasts for ages. I would recommend this product as it works well and for the price you pay is really good value. Karvol comes in many different forms you can but the vapour rub, capsules and even as a vaporiser plug in but I do find buying it in the bottle is much better value for money.
