Athletes foot - chances are you've been subjected to this highly contagious pesky fungus infection of the feet; either you have had it or you know someone close who has. Apparently 1 in 5 people within the UK are suffering from it at any one time so this infection is really common.

Signs & symptoms include really itchy feet, burning, stinging & inflamed skin. If it is left without treatment then the infection can spread to both feet & also turn into nasty smelly sores - not nice.

I do quite a bit of sport so my feet spend a lot of time sweating away in either trainers or walking boots - it seems that this is a fine breeding ground for the fungus that causes athletes foot.

After trying all the various brands out there I finally found one that seemed to work - Lamisil. Previously I liked the cream as it soothed my feet whilst at the same time killing off the fungus. My pharmacist told me that Lamisil actually kills the fungus & its spores in 7 days whilst the other brands merely stop the fungus from growing, so if you don't take the product as directed to the letter chances are the fungus will start to grow again. A skin cell takes approximately a month from "birth" to "death" when it flakes off, so if the athletes foot has infected a very new skin cell then in theory some of these other products should be used for a month to ensure that the fungus has been suppressed for that full time otherwise it will simply grow & infect other skin cells. I'm far more likely to take a medicine for a week rather than a month & even a weeks hard at times!

I now use Lamisil once as being really quite lazy if I can find an easy way to do something then I'm quite happy to pay a bit more for it! I have to say the results with this tiny little tube have been quite amazing. I don't seem to have the same number of outbreaks that I used to & I guess that might be because you cant get the dose wrong. If you use Lamisil Once properly then this formula will continue to kill off the athletes foot for up to 2 weeks - all with one single application - I think thats amazing!

The proper way to use this product:
1. wash both feet & dry them
2. apply Lamisil Once to BOTH feet, use all of the tube and make sure all of the feet are covered including between the toes. Don't massage in, this product is designed to sit on top of the skin.
3. leave to dry for a couple of minutes - this will form the athletes foot killing film around your feet
4. wear footwear as normal
5. don't wash feet for 24 hours

If you have any sores or cracked bits then this will sting, however grit your teeth in the knowledge that its only one application!

Lamisil Once is expensive - it costs between £7-£10 depending on where you buy it from, however for me that cost is well worth it as I don't have to phfaff around with reapplications every day & I'm not having the same number of infections that I used to.
