~~ Introduction ~~ Night Nurse is a non prescription medicine used to relive the symptoms of colds and flu, including tickly, unproductive coughs, runny nose, fever, headache, aches and pains and sore throats. If there's one thing I hate more than liver and onion gravy, that's being Ill. I think it's amazing how we always just forget how bad flu really is. Tuesday morning there was no escape, Mr Flu had come to visit and he was in no hurry to leave. I soon felt myself wondering around like a comatosed zombie unable to see, speak, hear or think past the basics. I think that flu is similar to climbing the tallest mountain in the world, half way ... Read the complete review

Tis the season to be sickly, it seems - or at least that seemed to be the case over Christmas. My husband and boss kindly gave me their colds for Christmas. I struggled womanfully through Christmas day, and then felt absolutely dire Boxing Day, and stayed dire for a good week and a half after that. In addition to the stuffy nose, incredibly sore throat and slight fever, I also developed a cough that was keeping me (and my husband and daughter) awake at night. I was not a happy bunny. Not even my favourite tried and true remedy helped much - Lemsip Hot Toddies failed miserably to alleviate my symptoms. After a few days of this, I sent my husband to the chemist ... Gregory Isaac's song gives a brilliant overview of the product and its capabilities. It's also a catchy number, which is why I guess they used it to promote the product. Night nurse can be used to combat cold and flu symptoms, as I found recently when I suspected I'd caught the dreaded swine flu. The active ingredients, of Paracetemol (which is a common over the counter analgesic and also an antipyretic which is used for fever relief), promethazine (which a sedating anti-histamine which is what helps you sleep) and dextromethorphan (is used for stopping the reflex action of coughing where it is non productive) fuse together to deliver an effective remedy. ... I'm a man, so never get colds, it's always flu! Thankfully, Night Nurse treats colds, flu (and manflu!). Night Nurse comes in capsule form, and as a disgusting looking green syrup (no prizes for guessing which type I prefer!). Night Nurse is designed to treat the symptoms of colds and flu. It contains Paracetamol, promethazine hydrochloride, and dextromethorphan hydro bromide as the active ingredients. A side effect of one of the ingredients is to cause drowsiness. This is actually a benefit for a medicine designed to be taken at night, it helps you get to sleep (not always easy with a blocked nose, cough and sore throat). The syrup also ... Just after christmas we were all struck down as a family by a rather nasty bout of the flu. Typically I suffered the brunt of it, while OH and little monster luckily seemed to get well pretty quickly. I had a nasty cough which was keeping me awake, and sick of taking the usual suspects such as lemsip and sudafed decongestants, I reluctantly bought a bottle of night nurse liquid. I say reluctantly, because I know the active ingredient in night nurse which helps you sleep are antihistamenes, and these have a tendency to leave me feeling a little hungover the next day. So, I took myself off to bed and glugged the 20ml dose recommended. It doesn't look ... Read the complete review
