There are times in life when you just can't sleep and when you're tired, it's really, really annoying. We all probably suffer from insomnia from time to time, for a huge variety of reasons. For me, it's probably just a reasonably normal level of stress. If I'm working on a particularly busy project or have a particularly obstinate problem, it soon interrupts my sleep. I get into bed, feeling absolutely exhausted and then the lights go out and "bang" I'm wide-awake. Being a student it is expected that nights are to consist of drinking and debauchery. Whilst this may be preferable for some I desire to be in bed by 11pm! Unfortunately my body doesn't agree with me and refuses to descend into the land of sleep until the early hours of 3 or 4am. I have always craved to be one of those people who can get 8 hours no problem and wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed. I often have difficulty sleeping. Sometimes it's because I wake up several times in the middle of the night and wake up feeling unfreshed like I hadn't slept. But most of the time I just can't get to sleep in the first place which is extremely frustrating. Going to bed once you feel tired enough, putting lavendar on your pillow, exercising during the day but not before, no caffine after 6pm, writting down your thoughts before bed...nothing seems to help. Having tried one or two other sleeping tablets, the herbal over the counter variety, I still couldn't find anything to help.
