Advantages: Helped me sleep after a period of stress related insomnia
Disadvantages: Not very pleasant smell or taste
I'd never tried any kind of sleeping aid, herbal or otherwise, before but when I had a spell of insomnia a few months ago my mum bought me some of these tablets to try.
It wasn't that I couldn't sleep, I'd eventually manage to go to sleep at around 2 or 3 in the morning but I would be restless all night and feel terrible in the morning. These were herbal tablets so I figured I would try them for one night and see what happened.
The main ingredients are hops, valerian and passion flower which are supposed to help calm you down and promote a restful sleep. The dose for adults over the age of 12 is two tablets around an hour before bedtime so I dutifully got ready for bed and took the pills with a glass of water.
I have to say that there is a strange smell to these tablets and they are not a very pleasant brownish colour. It's best to just take them quickly and get it over with.
Within about an half an hour I would say that I did get drowsy and start to feel relaxed which lead me to go to sleep quite quickly. I found that when I woke up I did feel refreshed, which sort of surprised me, so on the whole I would say that these tablets worked.
Now I have these in my bedside table for when I get stressed and start to lose sleep, and I take them for a couple of nights to get me back into a normal sleep routine.

Just wanted to add, obviously I'm not a medical professional so you should always read the label.

Summary: The tablets worked for me and I use them on occasion.
