Advantages: Does its job briliantly

Disadvantages: none

Now I don't know for a fact if the smoking has anything to do with it but I have been having difficulty lately clearing my nasal passages, so I was on the look out for something which might aid the rather discomforting situation. There are literally hundreds of so called remedies for nasal congestion and in the past I have found only a few to be of any lasting help. Vick is an obvious choice but my wife had recently used the Olbas oil and mentioned that they also had an inhaler out which might solve my little problem.

I parted with my £1.99 to the lovely assistant at Boots, and continued my shopping. It was sometime later that I happened to remember my purchase and had to search for it through a cavalcade of plastic bags. The blue and green card to which the inhaler was attached gave the impression of clearness which I found quite comforting this card was then covered by that shaped plastic shell which is always so awkward to separate from the card.

On finally getting the inhaler from the rather excessive packaging I was presented by an familiar shaped object, it was almost identical to the old Vick inhalers that were around when the world was just black and white. A long thin tube about half an inch in diameter with a serrated screw mechanism at one end which facilitated to actual removal of the inhaler. This was yet again similar in shape to it's outer covering with the exception of two small holes at the insertion end. I figured it to be the insertion end because of the serrations on the other end which I did not fancy placing up my nose.

The idea behind the use of the inhaler is to clear each passageway one by one, this is done by firmly using a finger to block one side of the nose, inserting the inhaler into the vacant orifice and inhaling deeply will cause the decongestant to proceed throughout the nasal passage and give relief. Changing the blocked passage to the other and repeating the process will clear both passages and enable clear breathing. Well I wasn't convinced it was gong to be that simple, but I needed to do something so gave it a try.

I'm guessing my first inhalation was perhaps just a bit too deep since the menthol vapours and decongestant cleared my passageway very quickly and in the process nearly blew the back of my head off. Blinking heck that was a powerful burst of menthol, anyway after a few seconds to recover I did the other side but this time took the intake of decongestant slightly slower and with much less gusto. This time the end result was the same but was also much more pleasurable. I'm saying pleasurable because in a strange kind of way it felt like it could quite easily become a thing I would do far more often, sort of semi addictive. Not only were my passages cleared they felt clean and new....................strange indeed.

It is advisable to keep some kind of cleansing wipe available to clean the end which is inserted, just so as to avoid any chance of infection, or transmission of any infection, since these are generally used to the treatment of nasal congestion due to cold and flu symptoms. Fortunately I am not that prone to colds and flus, but unfortunately my smoking habits are such that I do use this more often than I probably should, not that that is a problem since there are no recommendations as to how little or how often one should use this. I suppose once the passages are clear there is no need to use it until they are blocked again.

All in all an excellent product which works extremely well and does its job to perfection, leaving your nasal passages clear and feeling fresh and new. And for a mere £2.00 they last a very long time.................had mine for months and the menthol still feels fresh, I now have got a good method behind its use and the back of the head exploding thing is in the past.

Summary: A superb product
