Advantages: Easy to use, really works
Disadvantages: -
It's that time of year again and a few weeks ago I caught a cold off my husband and suffered for about a week. I hate having a blocked nose and feeling like I can't breathe but thank you for Olbas oil because it really helped my through this week.
Olbas oil is a mixture of essential pure plant oils for relief of bronchial and nasal congestion by inhalation. It can also be used for relief of muscular pain by application to the skin. It smells very much like vicks but I think that Olbas oil is a little stronger, it definitely helped clear my nose.
The oil is available from supermarkets, boots, superdrug and pharmacies and comes in a box with clear instructions of what it is and how to use written on the sides of the box. Inside the box there is a glass bottle and again it has the instructions on the label around the bottle. As soon as you open the bottle the strong smell hits you straight away (especially if your not the one suffering from the cold).
This product is suitable for children aged 3 months up to adults. There are a few different ways the product can be used, to clear painful sinuses and relieve nasal congestion (for children aged 3 months to 2 years) add 1 drop to a tissue and hold close to nose allowing to breathe in vapors and for adults and children aged 2 and over add 2-3 drops. Olbas can also be added to hot water. To relieve muscular pain use Olbas as a rub, just massage into the painful area 3 times a day but do not use if your allergic to any of the ingredients listed below.
I bought my Olbas oil from Tesco and is cost £2.92 for 28ml and I still have plenty left for the next time I get a cold. There is a expiry date on the bottle and mine expires August 2012 so at least it lasts a long time, I can store it away ready for next winter.
Ingredients:
Cajuput oil, Clove oil, Eucalyptus oil, Juniperberry oil, Levomenthol, methyl salicylate, mint oil and it's partly dementholised.
Overall, I give this product 5/5 it definitely helped clear my nose and breathe more easily which made an uncomfortable week more bearable. It's one to have in the cupboard.
Summary: A fab product
