Vicks First Defence by Proctor & Gamble

This is a micro gel nasal spray which is designed to prevent a cold. If used at the first sign of a cold, it actually manages to prevent it occurring!

So okay, I was dubious about how effective this would be. Over the years, I have tried many, many products which claim to help get over a cold, and none of those were effective. So, a product which could actually stop it happening-hmm!

I am now a huge Vicks First Defence fan! It genuinely does work! I have used it several times now and each time, as soon as I feel that horrible itchy feeling in the back of the throat which usually indicates the arrival of a cold, I grab this and it stops the cold arriving. It isn't the nicest thing in the world to use as you have to spray it up your nose, and yes, it feels a bit yukky. But, it honestly makes such a difference that a few minutes of discomfort are worth the effort.

It costs around £5 from chemists and one bottle lasts ages so it also works out very cost effective.

As with any medicine, remember to read the instructions first, but with winter coming, I would highly recommend that you get a bottle of this and pop it in the cupboard for when you need it - you will be glad that you did.
