Vicks First Defence ... was a bit sceptical of this product when I first heard of it. After all, I know enough about biology to know that the common cold is spread by hundreds of different viruses and is therefore currently uncurable. However, a product from a trusted brand such as Vick s and with such a hefty price tag (my 15ml bottle set me back 7 quid!), I decided it was worth looking into. Apparently its meant to work by trapping the cold virus at the back of your nose before it gets the chance to spread. I still wasn t entirely convinced, but decided it was worth a try. Vicks First Defence ... got home to try and defend myself against the disease! Going on holiday in a week and do not want to be ill! So off to Boots I popped and searched out the cold and flu remedies, looking for some kind of a deterrent. A shiny blue, green and silver box jumped out at me from the shelf, well the name attracted me first First Defence surely this is exactly what I m looking for! On the box it has Vicks branding (famous for decongestants and vapour rub) so a trusted make in cold related things! Vicks First Defence ... used this product a few months ago after a friend tried it and said it reduced the length of her cold. Having asthma I m all for avoiding colds and the inevitable chest problems so this seemed like a great idea. I bought it from Boots for about £7.50 and hoped it worked as you can only use it once, so if you feel like you re getting a cold you use it for a few days until the sensation of a cold starting has gone then for a few more days until you re sure you re past it then throw it away.
