This is one of them cars that you wont fully appreciate for maybe the whole time of ownership of the car until maybe you buy another car, this is especially true for first time car buyers. This is because when driving the yaris as a first car, your overall expectations of how useful and reliable a car may or should be, are raised. You will also think the petrol consumption on this thing is not anything special and it doesnt pick up in speed because your subconscience is yelling 999cc !!!! For someone to fully appreciate the beauty and originallity of this car they would have to be an experienced driver on maybe their 9 on 10th car. Thats when someone can make an all around judgement on the yaris because when it is compared to any other similar type of car in the same price range, no other car is better on fuel econemy, no other car will fool you into thinking this car has an engine of at least 1. ???? + (one point something and higher that is) and not many other cars will fool you into thinking the car is small when the car is quite spacious inside and is very comfortable.
When pushed to its limits in a race (meaning you dont change gear too early, but you wait until you achieve a higher RPM to activate all 16 Valves) the car can take on bigger engine sized cars up to around 35mph before it starts to fall behind slightly. But the important thing for any first car is that it should at least pick up quickly in the lower speed range for safety reasons? yeah safety reasons, because its fairly unsafe to enter say a dual carriage or moterway or round about at snails pace, with that being said, the yaris does not find this a challange if driven properly. The clever VVTI technology in this car is a sort of hybrid setup at a cheap price for a first time buyer which is great, let me explain. Altogether there are 16valves, yeah I know, 16 valves is a bit much for a 1 litre, but toyota are generous :). However the drawback would be that all those valves make a 1 litre not a sensible option because it will still drink petrol, but this is not the case with the yaris. Because of its clever implementation of the VVTI, the car locks the valves that are not really needed or in demand for a given situation. For example, when in traffic, the car will only need two valves (as the people at toyota know their stuff) so every other valve closes off to save a lot of petrol in traffic, when pushed for cruising, 8 valves are open, but when you pass around just above 3krpm all 16valves open because only a driver in race mode would be pushing the revs that far. You get this sort of super charger feel when this happens, although it would be nice for the average boy racer to have all 16 valves for the torque and response in power, any clever driver would just drop the gear to what ever ratio would be needed to instantly hit much higher revs for sudden pick up (thats what i do). This care is very light weight.
Secondly, the petrol, iv noticed that it does consume very little compared to other cars in the family, but in order to really save petrol you have to be clever. For example, when in a relaxed road where you can only achieve a maintained speed of say 30 - 35mph, staying in the highest gear at such low speeds wouldnt do any harm to the car as long as you dont push it and try to gain speed in fifth gear, just keep the pedal tapped at this speed if its consistently the same speed you are going to be cruising at, but should you need to suddenly pick up, i dont see the harm in even going down to 3 quickly for an energetic boost, and after you gain the speed the want, go right back up to fifth. Petrols very cheap on this car!!! The drawback of this is that everyone will want to borrow your car because it runs on air (joke) but its just annoying when I get home from college to find my baby in more demand for shopping etc, and i still have to pay for the petrol they use!!! but granted its not much.
Another nice thing about the car is the gear box, the range of movement required is little so theres less chance of miss gear change, it feels kind of sporty to me because i can quickly go from £rd to 2nd or 3rd to 4th with little finger movements. Some people might not like this, but as a driver with slight racing mentality, i love it.
The equipments on mine is pretty standard, the sound system isnt great, but can be useful because the on board computer can tell you statistics like avg mph avg mpg etc on the screen of the radio.
The Speedometer is nice on this car because it is an electronic read not analogue, and speed readings are spot on as mine has been tested. The screen is not directly in front of you but towards the centre angled towards your view. Some people might think that is is a hazard because eyes are not on the road, but this is not the case, its actually not that different, its sometimes better not to have a lump of dash in front of your steering wheel. It improves visibility of both the road and what speed you are doing. The car red lines at 6 and a half by the way, so no worries about blowing it up, its a very capable car.
The comfort on th front two seats are superb, almost hug you on corners, and are good for longer journeys, although i would say, stay off the moterway or atleast stay in the slow lanes because the soft high up suspension on sucha little light weight car are the perfect ingredients to take off on a moterway :). Back to comfort, i cannot say the same for the back seats, there is less room in the back and the seats are not big enough to comfort big people (im small though, so its all good)
The body work is not of the best quality, the pain can be chipped easily, the styling is ok for me, but isnt all that to be honest, but it does feel nice to role into college with such a highly equipted sensible car that will last longer than any other boy racers car in the car park. Apart from the styling (which is improved in newer models, i have the first ever model of yaris by the way, sorry i didnt mention this before, i was affraid you would skip the read) the car does carry that image i was saying just a moment ago, you will get respect for it.
There is the minor issue of some unusual cabin noise which i cannot get around to fixing because i dont know where small rattles come from when launching off from the lights and beating a ford escort full of chavs. The yaris is soo underestimated by other racers, try putting Vpower fuel into it for a good boost in power, for some reason this car loves it, it runs smoother annd you will for sure notice the difference. Also when used economically, the Vpower fuel gives you more miles per gallon, so even though its more expensive, it does pay for itself to bbe competitive with regular fuel, and it leaves behind medicinal properties in the engine to keep it running smoother for longer. Use Vpower in this car once a fortnight to once a month to reap its benefits.
This reviewer is the proud owner of the yaris 1.0 (999 cc or something) expecially because people underestimate the smart and good boy looking car that will even start in cold conditions where the average corsa or ford focus will strugle. Its started EVERY time i turn the key.
Word of advice, in cold conditions, give the car 20 seconds to settle down and let the revs fall to idle before pushing it to much, this can do damage to any car, especially smaller engines.
Also, you can lower the steering colum for much better handling of the wheel (ok sorry to state the obvious)
Its really up to you, what are your needs is what will determine whether this car is the one for you or not.
Thanks for reading, good luck!
This thing is soo small and cheap Battery life is excellent (my friend keeps telling me) Ipod batteries can be ok at first but they arnt consistent and the battery gets worse and worse the longer you have it. I personally prefer my nano (2nd gen) ipod when takin price and value into consideration, i just dont get why you would buy any 2 gb player from ipod. This is easier to add music to. sound quality GR8
i Prefer to take this out for my jogs and sporting activities over my nano because it is more durable and i know it will last longer or take more beating.
The best things about this over any ipod is that transferring music is a dodle as you dont have to convert anything you just have to simply drag and drop.
All in all, a good buy, nothing else in the price range would beat this
This is one of the best and most versitile complete solution that is easy to use, and is not resource hungry.
- The package is preffered by my family over macafee and norton offering because the others are resource hungry and their GUI are absolutly 100% rubish compared to the zone labs GUI ( general user interface) It seems they have thought this through and they were actually thinking about customers instead of just making something that just gets the job done (not so well)
- There are many useful settings to toggle with like website blockers, content blockers and security filter levels. This is a great set of features because you can really customise it to achieve a computing environment you like. Also when your viewing websites with an innocent mind, this package will block off and stop any annoying side adverts and promotional xxx content, it destroys it all
- Finaly would like to add that it provides affective security
If you enjoyed all the previous releases of mario kart then you will deffinatly love this. Another reason to love it and purchase it is because unlike the other portable versions of this game, this release offers the fun that the console version offers, its a whole deal of fun that you can carry in your pocket and play any where at any time.
The best thing about buying this game on the DS is that you can play with anyone in the world as long as you have a router.
The DS allows for good sound quality to add to the affect of the game.
Graphics are really good surpisingly, this was not expected from the DS version of mario kart, but there is good levels of detail in the release and shouldnt be seen as any drawback.
If you cant afford to buy the wii, then just get the DS versioon of any wii game ud like to play.
This is one of the nwest offerings from nvidia, and from what iv seen, it shouldnt deserve to be released as a next gen card because it just isnt capable of beating many prev gen cards to a god standard.
The card does pack good amounts of power for its price, but this doesnt justify a purchase over the 3850 from ati or even the 3870.
The worst thing about this card is that its fairly loud due to its not so efficient cooling design.
The card is ideal for small computers with limited space and it will serve well for small sli setups with tiny cases as they scale just as well as the 8800gt in sli.
The one thing that i like the most about the card is that its soo small and it looks like a value budget card, but performs like a uppder mid range card.....too bad it isnt priced like one.
This graphics card owns its market segment due to the power it offers, the benefits it reaps and at the price it sells at for what it offers.
The 3850 is the 3870s smaller brother but its still very mucha big brother to any previous generation of cards from both nvidia and ati as reviews show that this card beats the 1900xtx which was the most powerful card out ffrom the previous gen. The amazing thing is that this is a upper mid range card that sells cheaply and beats off a lot of more expensive cards from the previous gen that still sell on ebay today.
This card uses hardly any power compared to the previous gen card too, and it uses slightly less than its bigger brother the 3870. power usage at peak is 96w!
This plays all the lates games, and can be overclocked very well.
Go for the 512mb version if you plan to play crysis or any other dx10 game.
This also scales very well and can beat the gts ultra in the vast majority of games when paired with another 3850. It packes tones of power that unleashes when equipted with a twin thats for sure.
maybe the thing that holds back ati cards a bit is because they are shy?
I bought this as a phone and not for any other reason. It seemed nice and stylish, has a nice camera on it, and also slides up. The phone itself is like other sony erricson phones but much has been improved to make itself stand out from the sony erricson stereo type the othe phones recieved. Firstly there is no joy stick so the navigation method you oh so rely on to use the phone will never break as the joy stick has been known to stop functioning properly, the phone is very quick unlike my k750i and it is one hell of a music player. The sound quality on this Phone beats any ipod, but then again all sony mp3 players of any type have gr8 sound quality.
overall i am happy with the phone and it hasnt had any problems yet.
You should choose this one over its smaller brother (the non sliding one) its jus nice to use
The nano was attractive to me but not enough for a purchase due to rumours of reliability issues. Also they werent all that gr8 compared to other mp3 players.
But this one seems to be totally free from all the stereo type that the other ipods recieved. From my experience, it just seems more robust, and not only that but it feels like its ful of quality, never has it frozen, its pretty fast at changing tracks, and best of all, it plays movies!!!
The size of the thing is unbelievable to be honest. its nice having so much technology in such a small space, all in your hands.
The screen is also the first wide ( or wider ) screen from the nanos, and is nice for watching videos on.
The sound quality isnt bad either, but could improve as it does not match sonys sound quality. Maybe newer head phones will do that trick!
Ok this is one of those misunderstood games that no one wants to try out because amatuer reviewers on games websites play it for half an hour and toss it away.
First time i played this, i hated it soo much, i thought that the wii console was only capable of being this fun, i was like ARGH until my friend told me to hold the wii mote properly (LOOOOL) because from his experience, he knew it was kick ass, everything about this game rules from his experiences, and im starting to believe him, because the gameplay makes u active and give you a work out and really includes yu in the game, you axctually feel like running away when people shoot at you lol.
But now i got the hang of the controls, which were very difficult at first, the game play for me is a treat.
I would recomend you buy this second hand instead, because the retail price can be too much for this game, even though its good, other wii games are far better, and your money is better off on them. id say £15 pounds for the rudy, enjoyable game with mediocre graphics that takes a while to get used to playing but then is quite fun afterwards.
enough description to warrent a purchase yet?
This is one excellent product/idea that will open up a great opportunity for businesses and open sectors like hospitals.
With the use of internet, this will enable you to make free Skype to Skype calls where ever in the world, for as long as you like. Just type in skype in google to find out more!!! do it!!! this product will make a lot of sense once you read up on the skype site.
Like i said, it will open up a wonderful opportunity for businesses.
For example, a business of any type that has offices in a building, if they are able to implement such a product into their building, then they can say good bye to telephone bills and make use of their existing internet. From within any office building, you are required to communicate within the building to get things done. If 20 employees working on the same project were scattered accros the building in different offices, they could each have one of these, and use the internet to stay connect with each other in a call conference or even video conference if they buy webcams. Best of all, it wont cost the company any more on bills.
If your unsure about san andreas on whether to purchase it or not, then if you liked any of the other GTA titles, then this is a must buy because it really completes the others. By this i mean that what ever you felt was missing from any other GTA title, its likely youl find it in this title.
My favourite thing about this game is the fact that it has such a huge map. The Map size is important because it allows for more playability after the completion of the game because you can still go around cruising the city, and know that you will find things to do, lots of mini missions to do and so many places to explore.
The graphics are good for such a game and has improved over the previous GTA release. To get the best of san andreas, buy the pc version if you can because it will deliver the best visuals and playabilty in terms of modding and cheating.
The controller is a nice addition to the wii family of products because it serves the purpose of general gaming that the wii remote cannot suffice. It has all the buttons the gamecube controller has but shares the theme of wiis wii mote.
The design of the controller gives you that old fassion super nintendo look but is way more comfortable. However i just dont know why they didnt just re launch the gamecube controllers with the new wii theme instead of designing a new controller. The game cube controllers are far more comfortable. This may be down to nintendo wanting to sell more products instead of releasing a product that could be recycled for wii use instead of re-purchased.
I would advise people to buy a Game cube controller over this, but if you must have it there is not harm in it, its down to preference really, but if you have a game cube controller, then you should use it by all means
I got this game for £5 so i thought i might as well give it a go.
My first impressions of the game filled me with regret, because i thought maybe id have more fun just watching a five pound note burn. However a lot of owners of this game would have recieved the same impression of the game before they got into it. The thing with this game is that its a bit of a Dr pepper scenario, and also marmite..... you just need to give it a try and have patience, before it grows on you like it did to me, but if your different from me in terms of taste, then you might even hate it after playing it for a while.
The introduction to the game is exciting, and you feel pretty cool that your the head of some sort of force. And when the first level finally starts, you think, whats the point in being the head of some police force in the first person shooter when you dont even have a gun......thats right you wont see a gun! for some reason the developers thought it would be interesting to make it invisible, i cannot find options to make it appears. There is only the crosshair and thats it. Graphics arent so great either.
The good thing about the game is a good plot, nice atmosphere with you fellow gunners, and a realistic heroic feel.
The gameplay is actually quite fun, and it is a bit of a challange...
Have FUN and please try before you sell it on for £4.50, i mean at £5 how much value can it loose? lol also is £5 much?
I loved it!
My first impressions of the phone was, this is something expensive.
The phone itself is loaded with applications that you may not ever use or need, but nokia took the liberty to load your phone up making sure that should you ever need the currency converter, its there, and if you dont, well then you just got useless bulk on the phone, and believe me, this phone is full of useless bulk. However this phone has its other uses and does have support for some useful programs like MSN messenger and Skype. If you take out a contract with 3 or other 3g providers like voda phone, you can take advantage of these programs on the go instead of being limite to only using them on your pc. Generally their usage is free if you have a contract.
The phone boasts a brillient 3.2 mega pixel camera that is supported by some interesting features on the software side of things. The operatng system on the phone is a symbian one meaning you can get support for new software from the symbian website, theres plenty of things you can download free for this phone.
My favourite aspect of the phone is that the screen is huge!!!! perfect for video playback, i prefer it over my ipod.
The phone can get a but slugish sometimes, but generally is fine.
You will need to buy another set of headphones because the suplied ones are rubbish
VERY ROBUST, its so strong, after a few drops, only scratches, one crack on the back but it suffered from a high fall on concrete, but still runs the same, no new noise introduced, no new anoyances (if thats a word?) lol
This thing is TINY, so small that newer mini laptops that are expensive because of their mobility would find this to be competition. the diagnal measure of the whole system corner to corner is just about 12 " which is small.
It is very quiet, near silent until the fan spins up every 20 minutes to regulate cooling on mine.
upgrade path is limited to more hard drive space and more RAM. the 256mb models would have one slot left for another RAM stick. This thing can be upgraded to 1 gb of RAM which is really nice for an old laptop.
The cpu is more than adequete for what i use the laptop for. Office use and internet is a pleasure on the compaq evo because of its lightweight mobility. I just love it when people ask me, is that a new vaio in your hands when its closed, i tell them no its a compaq evo i bought for £150 and everyones amazed at the size of the thing for its age. And it isnt comprosed on performance as its specs match bigger models from other brands of its time. like i said, its just fine with Office work and internet. The screen is good for video playback, and the docking station you get with it provides you with good speakers. This laptop was designed to be a lightweight package, so they cut out the extras that you may not need like CD drive and floppy etc, but the docking station has all of these things.
The kayboard is one of the best iv seen on a laptop, generally laptop keyboards are rubbish in my opinion, but honestly, this keyboard is EXCELLENT i find it easier to touch type on it than my desktop. If im doing my C/W then i prefer using this to my quad core upstrs. plus its nice to work in the garden hehe:)
Best thing to do when you buy this (which you should) is change the battery, upgrade the RAM to 1gb (you wont regret it, it gives such a boost) and give it a clean to make it run and look like an expensive new laptop....iv gotten away with it :):):)
Finally the average price these things goe for are what makes this stand out. similar offerings from toshiba and others at the same price segment just cannot compete with what this gives you, and iv tried the others, the toshiba is nice but not compact or as powerful or nice to use like this.
