L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream is a winter staple that I cannot do without. My hands get extremely dry and rough in the unforgiving winter conditions and I tried a whole plethora of hand creams, with no joy. The turning point came when a considerate colleague offered me a dollop of her Shea Butter Hand Cream and I was amazed by how quickly it got to work in softening my hands.
I went home and researched the product - I was sold on reading that it contained 20% Shea Butter and other intensely moisturising ingredients such coconut oil, honey and almond extracts. Shea Butter is renown for its nourishing and therapeutic benefits, and the L'Occitane website explains that "it contains insaponifiables, to boost cell renewal and repair the hydrolipid film, for softer, more elastic and comfortable skin. It acts like a barrier for the skin and limits water loss, thus maintaining an optimal level of moisture."
The texture of the cream is thick and balm-like. A small quantity goes a long way and I use a pea-sized amount several times a day. The cream is delicately fragranced. For stronger, more distinctive smells, try the variants to this hand cream - Rose, Honey and Lemon, Lavender, etc. These creams do not have as a high a concentration of shea butter but are fairly effective moisturisers and smell divine. My favourite is the Honey and Lemon!
The Shea Butter Hand Cream comes in various sizes ranging from 150ml to 30 ml (travel size). I find the travel size to be very handy and I have keep one in my car, office drawer and handbag! Unfortunately, I go through these tubes fairly quickly and they are pricey at GBP 7 a pop! My solution is to visit the L'Occitane Outlet at Bicester Village to stock up at reduced prices, or to visit Airport DFS outlets for the multi-packs of 6 travel size tubes.
Combining fashion with fitness functionality, Fit Flops are the perfect form of summer footwear.
I first came across Fit Flops in summer 2009 in Singapore, where it had become a cult fashion item. After reading numerous newspaper articles extolling the values of wearing bum-thigh-leg shaping slippers, I decided to plunge in and buy myself a pair. It wasn't an easy decision with a hefty price tag of GBP 50, but I decided to test this twist on fit-flops. After all, even if the promised toning benefits didn't materialise, at least they looked cute! I picked up a jazzy pair of black fit flops with giant black rhinestones studding the midsection of the slipper. The variety of designs/colours is impressive and appears to vary in different countries.
I have loved my Fit Flops since. They are incredibly comfortable and I can walk in them for hours without experiencing any pain/discomfort in my legs. I can't say that I have the firmest pair of pins or a pert bottom, but I definitely feel that my legs have become more muscular and toned.
An added benefit is the fact that the Fit Flops are fuss-free slippers, waterproof and durable. They are my ultimate travel pair of footwear as they look smart, give me a height boost due to the wedge-effect, and my feet thank them after a long day of shopping and sightseeing. I have worn them from Bali to Bournemouth and they have survived being dipped in the sea and sand.
The only downside is that they make poor driving shoes - I can't feel the amount of pressure that I put on the pedals due to the shock-absorber effect of the soles!
I found Skin Ceuticals C E Ferulic treatment to be an excellent brightening serum. I was looking for a skincare product to add a much needed 'glow' to my face when I stumbled across this powerful anti-oxident product on Makeupalley.
Unfortunately, I found the retail price of GBP 134 for 30ml to be rather steep for my budget, so I decided to shop around for the best bargain that I could. I managed to find a bargain at ebay - 6 individual sample vials of the product, totaling 22.5 ml for GBP 25!
I have been using the product religiously every morning and night before my regular skincare regime. The product is absorbed almost instantly and leaves no oily or sticky residue. My skin now looks brighter and my mild acne scars are lightened. 1 small vial lasted me a month, with fairly judicious use. I would recommend it to anyone looking to improve their overall skin condition and for a healthy glow.
