VTECH PEEK A BOO BOOK This was another present that my youngest daughter had for christmas, bought by a friend, I have had a look online and found that it is still available for purchase from mothercare, amazon and ebay, Price ranging between £6.00-£14.99. ***THE PRODUCT*** This book is made by vtech and is suitable for children age 3 months plus and requires 2aa batteries, This came with tester batteries and it is noted on packaging that they won't last and would need replacing. So far we still have these batteries in and have not had to replace them. The book is made from durable plastic and each page has a different nursery rhyme on with pictures and pop up parts and parts that move on each page. Each page has pictures that are bright and colourful and it also plays music as you turn the page. ***MY OPINION*** I have to say that i am really pleased with this book, I like the fact that it's made from plastic so the pages won't get ruined by my daughter putting it in her mouth as she is currently teething so chewing on everything. It is great that it has a wide range of nursery rhymes, such as twinkle twinkle little star, hey diddle diddle and old mcdonald had a farm. Each page the pictures stand out well as they are bright and colourful which catches my daughters eye and she also starts rocking when it plays the music. This is also fab for my older daughter as it is helping her with all her nursery rhymes, she now knows quite a few and likes singing them to friends and family. Also as it is made from plastic it will last well and is easy to clean, A great book for babies and toddlers and it is something i will purchase in the future for family and friends children
VTECH LITTLE SINGING ALFIE ***THE PRODUCT AND PRICE*** Alfie set me back just £3.00 last december from tkmaxx, but he is available to purchase from ebay and amazon for between £5-£8.00. Alfie has a soft brown head, legs and arms and his body is made up from plastic, on this part of his body is an on/off switch and 3 other buttons which control Alfie to sing or say phrases, ( example- im a hungry bear, sleepy bear) and he requires 3aa batteries, He also has a velcro strap attached to his head so that you are able to attach him to your childs car seat, pram or cot and is suitable for children age 3 months plus. ***WHY I PURCHASED ALFIE*** I was browsing in tkmaxx for some last minute christmas presents when i came across Alfie, and i noticed he was reduced down from £7.99 to just £3.00, I then noticed that he was a vtech product which i do really rate their products so thinking this would be ideal for my youngest i took him to the till and paid. ***MY OVERALL OPINION*** Now i have to say poor Alfie isn't the best looking bear i have seen or purchased, and to be honest yes he does say a few different phrases and sing a few different songs, but the voice really irritates me, why i don't no. My daughter isn't impressed with this either and hasn't really looked at him since christmas although i have tried on a few occasions to get her to like him. I do like the fact that he has a velcro strap which is a brilliant idea as i no what kids can be like when they lose toys, especially if it's their favorite. He is well made and is an educational toy but didn't impress any of us here, so for that reason i will award him 3 stars.
FISHER PRICE BRILLIANT BASICS CHATTER TELEPHONE My youngest daughter had this for christmas and it was purchased for her from my mum, I have spoken to my mum and she said she bought this from ebay and paid just £4.00 which i think is a bargain. ***THE PRODUCT*** The fisher price telephone has been around for many years now, I remember my son having one when he was a baby, But if im right they have been around since i was a child. The phone itself is as i would say styled like an old fashioned phone, only it's on wheels, On the front of the phone it has a smiley face and an old fashioned dial with numbers 0-9, which make a slight ringing noise when you release these after turning them. The phone has a small cord so that you can pull it around the room but i will say the cord isn't massive. ***MY OPINION*** I love this phone and so do my 2 younger children, My youngest laughs at the noises it makes and loves watching my other daughter pulling it along. My older daughter likes to say the numbers as she is dialing and for some reason it's always nana that she speaks to. Although this toy doesn't look like much it is well played with and once my youngest is able to move around more i believe she will get as much fun from it as my other daughter. For just £4.00 as well it's a great bargain and it is made from durable plastic and is easy to clean, This has been bashed about a little but has no damage to it.
VTECH RIDE ON ALPHABET TRAIN My daughter received this as a gift for christmas so before writing this review i have had a look online and found that is it available to purchase from amazon, smyths and toys r us and retails between £30-£40. ***THE PRODUCT*** The vtech alphabet train is suitable for children age 12 months plus, and requires 3aa batteries if you want the sound with it. The train comes in 2 parts, the train itself and the carriage, plus 26 blocks, These blocks have a letter of the alphabet on one side and on the other a picture, (example, a-apple, b-ball) on the train it has a book that isn't removable with the alphabet and pictures it also has buttons numbered 1-5 in different colours and a slot to push the blocks through. The carriage as 4 open sides and this is where the blocks are stored, they also fall down into here when pushed through the slot ***MY OVERALL OPINION*** My youngest daughter had this for christmas and she is only 5 months of age so it is not really a great toy for her at the moment, she does however like it when i sit her on it and push her around going choo choo. My 2 older children also play with this, My middle daughter absolutely loves it and it is the first toy she goes to play with in the morning when we get up, she finds it amazing that the blocks fall into the carriage and loves riding around the living room on this. My son who is 8 is also able to play on this and has no problems riding around on it ( he is very small for his age). I really do like this train as it helps the child/children not only learn the alphabet, but also learn colours, words and numbers, It is made from good durable plastic that is easy to wipe clean and would be something that i would purchase myself
ORAJEL EXTRA STRENGTH ***THE PRODUCT AND PRICE*** Orajel comes packaged in a small box and inside you will find the tiniest of tubes, with a screw lid. It is a small white tube with black writing on and each tube contains 5.3g of the product. It is available to purchase from tesco and boots as well as many small chemists, I do find the the price ranges between £3.00 and £5.30 depending on where i have bought it from. Orajel is suitable for use for adults and children over the age of 12 years, On the tube is advises that you can use it up to 4 times daily and that is contains benzocaine 20% w/w. To use all you do is apply a small pea size amount to the affected area, using a clean swab or finger. ***WHY I PURCHASED THIS PRODUCT*** During my pregnancy with my youngest a filling fell out and i ended up with a bad tooth infection, painkillers didn't even touch the pain, the antibiotics helped but not much and the dentist said my tooth needed taking out but he couldn't remove it until i had the baby so my neighbor recommended this to me ( I still haven't been back to the dentist as they scare the hell out of me, so every now and then i get a toothache and still use this product ) ***MY OVERALL OPINION*** I have to say that this is amazing and works fast and well, If you have toothache that painkillers don't help with then i strongly advise you try this product. When i first got this i purchased it from my local chemist where they charged me £5.29 and i thought to myself that it had better work after spending that much. As soon as i got home I opened this and had a look how to use it and once i had done that using my finger i applied a small amount to the affected area and within less than a minute the pain had gone. I won't say that it lasts for hours relieving the pain, but it does last quite a while and even using 3-4 times a day a small tube still lasts as not much is needed. It is especially fantastic at night if you have toothache as it relieves the pain and ables you to get to sleep. What i will say though is that it doesn't taste all that good, and isn't a long term fix but helps.
VTECH FIRST STEPS BABY WALKER ***THE PRODUCT AND PRICE*** The vtech walker we have is in pink and can be purchased from argos and tesco, My mum got this for my youngest for christmas and has said she paid £20.00 for it. This is suitable to use in 2 ways, one is where the child can hold onto it as they are walking along for extra support and to play with the tray that is attached with the activities on, The other is to detach the tray so the child can play with this on the floor. The main colours of this walker are pink, white and purple and it does require 3aaa batteries although, we have had ours since christmas and the batteries are still going strong. The tray has a on/off switch and volume control button, It has a keyboard that are numbered and each a different colour, balls that spin around, butterfly and a phone that detaches from the tray. ***MY OVERALL OPINION*** My daughter is 5 months and the recommended age for this is 6 months, but she still likes to sit on the floor and play with the tray, my other daughter who is 3 also likes to play this, she likes to pretend she is on the phone to her daddy, but often loses the phone so then we spend ages going through all the other toys looking for this. My daughter loves the flashing lights and laughs when we spin the balls around, I do think that this is a great toy but she will get much more use out of it in a few months time when she is able to do more herself, It can help children with walking, colours and numbers. As mentioned above it does have volume control on this and I think that at the lower volume it is loud enough for myself and the kids
TESCO PARTY POPPERS ***WHY WE BOUGHT THESE*** For the past 8/9 years on new years eve, a few friends family members and myself always get together to have a few drinks, then later on we wrap the kids up warm and walk to our local town about 20 minutes from where i live now, To go and watch the fireworks at midnight, So this year we also got some sparklers and poppers for the kids and some Chinese lanterns for the adults to do after the fireworks had finished. ***THE PRODUCT AND PRICE*** These party poppers come from tesco and are available to buy in-store and on-line, They are available to buy in packs of 25 and packs of 50, It was my mum who purchased these and she said she paid around £3.00 for them. They come packaged in a clear plastic packaging with a sticker label on the front stating what the product is and how many party poppers it contained, You can see the poppers through the packaging. Each popper is made of black plastic and has brightly coloured labels on them, with a white string to pull to release the streamers. ***MY OVERALL OPINION*** I like the labeling on the poppers, as it is nice and bright, and makes them stand out, When you pull the white string to pop the party poppers you do get a nice bang, although not to loud and lots of brightly coloured streamers come flying out. They are well worth the price and great for various occasions for adults and children, they do advise on the labeling not to point them towards people's faces. The kids loved being able to pop these as the fireworks were going of and whilst we were letting the lanterns go
SONY MDR-EX77LP EARPHONES I bought these earphones last year around summer time as i wanted and needed new ones that were suitable for use with my mp3/ipod as well as my phone. ***THE PRODUCT AND PRICE*** I managed to buy these from amazon last year for just £9.99, They are still available to purchase from amazon as well as play.com and retail between £12.00-£20.00 depending on where you purchase them from and the seller. These come packaged in a small carry case, in the case you also get a cable tie and 3 sets of soft silicone buds, each set a different size. They are available to buy in either black or white and the cable on them is 1.2 meters long, the jack plug is gold plated. ***MY OPINION*** I bought these are my last ones had taken a good beating after a few years of use, I knew that i wanted in ear, earphones as i find the comfortable to wear and use. I choose the black set in these as most of the time i wear a black coat and thought the cable would blend in well with my coat rather than seeing a long white cable, With the silicone buds i use the smallest size as i only have little ears, these are comfortable and do not annoy me or irritate me in anyway at all. The sound quality on these is fantastic, good and clear with no interference at all and i have had no complaints of music blasting out from them when i have been sat on bus/train listening to music with them. The cable on them is quite long and the do sometimes get tangled so I would advise using this to stop them getting into a knot but i have no other complaints at all so will still award these the full 5 stars
ARGOS VALUE RANGE 13.5 TOG DUVET Just before christmas last year I realized that not only did my own duvet cover need replacing but so did the one's of my 2 eldest childrens need to be replaced. Not wanting to spend a fortune as it was so close to christmas and their were presents that needed buying i did an online search and found this duvet. This argos duvet is available to buy from argos in-store and online, it is available as a single, double or kingsize duvet, I have 1 double and 2 singles. At the time of purchase I paid £6.99 for a single and £8.99 for a double which is fairly good value. The duvet come wrapped in plain argos plastic packaging and on opening need a good shake. They are suitable for line dry only, machine washable and are also non-allergenic and have a polyester filling. ***MY OVERALL OPINION*** When i first opened the packaging i felt a little disappointed as the duvets looked really thin and i first thought oh god these aren't going to keep us warm at all, But after a good shake they looked and felt a little thicker, (I think this is because they are packed so tightly). They fit into your duvet cover perfectly with no problems at all and they do keep you warm in bed. I have only washed one duvet once and that was a single one but it washed well and dried within 24 hours of been on the airier by the heater and has kept it's shape no problem. If your after something that won't cost much but will keep you warm then this is the duvet for you.
APPLE IPOD NANO 4G 8GB The ipod nano comes with instruction manual, earphones and a usb charger and at the time when mine was purchased it cost around £130, although the are still available to buy now they are slightly cheaper and can be purchased in a lot of major stores such as tesco and argos as well as online. Itunes is easy enough to use so that you can download music onto your ipod although you are able to do this in other ways as well and not just use itunes. When I first had mine i left it to charge over night so that the battery got a full charge and i was able to use it properly. This ipod as a small screen which is approx 2 inchs, on this screen you are able to see album art for the song you are playing, you are also able to play games and view pictures and videos and this comes with a 1 year warranty. Underneath the screen you have a ouch wheel, this allows you to play/pause go forwards and backwards and is easy enough to control. You can also record your own videos on this, this will hold approx 2000 songs, less if you have games, videos and pictures stored on it. The ipod nano is available in a range of colours, some that it is available in are pink, black, silver and blue. I have a pink one. ***MY OVERALL OPINION*** I have had my ipod now for just under 3 years and it is still going strong, I currently have 106 songs on it and 3 videos and still have plenty of room for much more although i can't see myself bothering to put anymore songs on it as im happy with whats on it. When i first got mine the battery would last me around 5 days, this was with me listening to it every day for a good few hours, especially whilst i was out walking, now though im lucky if i get 5-6 hours use out of a full charge, I can't really complain about this as i have had it a long time. This has also been dropped (my own fault for leaving it at within kids reach) so it does have a few marks and wear and tear to it but is still working well. If you want something long lasting with plenty of memory, small and easy to use then this is the ipod i would recommend to you.
AVON ARGAN OIL LEAVE IN TREATMENT ***THE PRODUCT*** This comes packaged in a blue box and inside the box you have a glass pump bottle, which contains 30ml of the product, This retails at £5.50 from your local avon rep or avon online although is often on offer, The glass bottle is clear so you can see the product and how much is left, On the back of the bottle you have instructions for use. The product is easy to use but feels slightly greasy so you will need to wash your hands after applying to your hair. ***MY FIRST OPINION*** When I first seen this leave in treatment i thought oh my god this is going to make my hair look and feel greasy and isn't going to be very good, I was also shocked by the colour as it is in my opinion a burnt orange colour, After the first use of this I thought oh my god i was right, it's no good for me. The reason I say this is my hair was as i thought it would be, greasy and horrible and I had only used 3 squirts of the product, So i spoke to a friend and explained to her and she advised me to use less of the product as i have thin shoulder length hair. ***MY OVERALL OPINION*** After speaking to my friend the next time I washed my hair i tried what she suggested and used less, this time I only used 1 and a half squirts and rubbed it into my hands a little before running it through my hair, I then dried and styled my hair as normal and was very surprised to see that my hair was fine, lovely shine to it and manageable with no signs of being greasy. I now use this 2 a week and as I only need a little of the product I still have most of it left and believe that the bottle will last me the rest of the year. As it made my hair greasy and limp using the amount avon suggested I will knock of a star for this as not everyone's hair is the same. Maybe the should suggest this on the instructions, If you have used it before and ended up with hair as i did the first time I do suggest playing around and seeing how much or how little of this you need.
AVON ARGAN OIL HAIR MASK If you have read my previous reviews on the argan oil shampoo and conditioner you will know that a friend recommended them to me, so I decided to buy this as well and the leave in treatment which i will also be reviewing. ***THE PRODUCT*** This hair mask comes in a blue plastic tube with a flip lid and contains 150ml of hair mask, The packaging for this looks nice and stands out well. For a tube of this though it will cost at full price £5.50 from your local avon rep or avon online, but it can often be found on offer for around £3.00. The consistency of this is quite thick and the scent is fruity and the mask itself is white in colour. Like the shampoo and conditioner as well as containing argan oil it also contains vitamin e. The instructions for use are printed on the back of the tube although the writing is very small, but i still found it ok to read. Avon advise you to leave this hair mask on for 5 minutes before rinsing off. ***MY OPINION*** Again i love this product as it makes my hair tangle and frizz free, easy to manage and helps tame it and keep if looking and feeling soft and silky smooth. I love the scent and how it stays on my hair until the next wash. As mentioned above avon advise you to leave on for 5 minutes although with mine I like to leave it on for 10 minutes using just once a week. It is easy to apply, I like to comb it through my hair using a wide tooth comb to make sure it reaches all my hair, and don't have any problems getting the comb through at all. I have now used this 4 times and have more than half a tube left so it is well worth the price even when paying the full price and when I finish what I have left I will be buying some more.
AVON ARGAN OIL CONDITIONER If you have read my previous review on the argan oil shampoo you will see that i was recommended it by a friend of mine who is a hairdresser, she also advised I used the conditioner, (So i bought all the products in this range, which i will also be reviewing) ***THE PRODUCT*** You can purchase the conditioner from your avon rep or from avon online and it retails at £2.80 although it is often on offer for less, This again comes in a grey plastic bottle with blue and gold on the front, with a blue flip top lid and the bottle is 250ml in size. The conditioner has a good consistency to it and is easy to use and run through your hair, and again like the shampoo has a fruity scent to it, although I find the scent on this to be slightly stronger than the shampoo. It advises you to leave the conditioner on for a few minutes before rinsing, I normally leave mine in for around 5 minutes, This contains argan oil and vitamin e ***MY OPINION*** Again I really like this product and have had a few compliments from friends on how nice my hair smells after using this, My hair is softer and more manageable and has a nice shine to it that lasts until I next wash and condition my hair. I have been using this for a month now and the bottle is empty and will be buying it again and it is a product I have already recommended to a few friends and is something I would recommend to everyone who would like to have soft, shiny and manageable hair.
ADVANCE TECHNIQUES ARGAN OIL SHAMPOO BY AVON ***THE PRODUCT*** This shampoo comes in a gray plastic bottle with blue and gold colouring on it, the bottle is 250ml in size and is only available to purchase from an avon rep or avon online and is £2.80 a bottle but often found to be on offer. The shampoo has a pearl effect to it and is a white/pearl colour, I have found the consistency of this to be slightly runnier to other shampoos from avon that I have used before. This bottle has a flip lid and the shampoo contains argan oil and vitamin e and is suitable for all hair types. ***WHY I PURCHASED THIS*** A friend of mine is a hair dresser and I was speaking to her one day about my hair and how it lacks shine, has split ends, is dry and dull, basically ruined due to me having extensions put in a few times and due to the amount of colour I have put in and still do use in my hair and she recommended this shampoo, she also advised me to use the other products which come in this range. The other products available are argan oil conditioner, hair mask and a leave in treatment. ***MY OPINION ON THIS PRODUCT*** I have been using this shampoo for a month now I use this 2-3 times a week, the rest of the time I use my vosene shampoo. After just a few washes with this shampoo I started to notice a difference in my hair, it now looks healthier and after being washed and conditioned and styled by hair as a lovely shine to it, I also find that my hair isn't so fly away anymore. When I first used this and seen that the consistency was slightly runnier than other shampoo's by avon I wasn't expecting much but it does lather up really well. The shampoo has a slightly fruity scent to it and makes my hair look and feel good like I have just had it done in a salon. I've just under quarter of a bottle left of this and will be purchasing it again, and would recommend this to anyone who has dull hair that needs some life and shine adding to it.
YANKEE CANDLE PETAL WAX TART BURNER I have had my wax tart burner now for around 6 months and purchased mine from amazon, well I should say i purchased all of them from amazon, as I have 3. Yankee wax tart burners are available to purchase online from the yankee candle website, amazon and ebay. I have a cream wax tart burner, a yellow one and also a red one, for the cream one I paid £4.99 and for the other 2 i paid £7.99, The reason I have 3 is because I have one downstairs, another in the bathroom and another in my bedroom. Each one came packaged exactly the same, In a plain cardboard box with the petal wrapped well inside with bubble wrap. The petal which holds the wax tarts is fairly deep with plenty of room for the tart to sit and this petal sits on a black metal base where you place the tealight. My petals get used every day as i like to keep the house smelling nice, and sometimes when you have 2 young children still in nappies it's impossible to do that with their smells. For around 2 hours each day I like to use mine during the afternoon, When i first got them i did find it a it fiddly to place the tealight candle on the metal burner, but after using a few times i soon got used to this. This look really nice and are suitable for use in any room in the house, although if you leave the tart to harden again it can sometimes be fiddly to remove this, so i would advise that after you have blown out the tealight to leave the wax to set for around 10 minutes and then remove.
