Blade is a half human half vampire man that spends his life hunting down vampires and killing them. He has all the strengths of a vampire but none of the weaknesses, meaning he can walk in daylight. The only problem he does have is that he still thirsts for blood the same as a vampire, which he despises.
In this film, Blade (Wesley Snipes) is doing his usual vampire hunting and killing but finds out something else is going on by a human turned vampire that wants to rule the vampire world. This vampire has discovered a way of harnessing Blades blood in order to turn himself into the ultimate vampire with no weaknesses.
I personally really like this film. It has action, funny one liners, a good cast of actors and above all, it is about vampires, creatures that without thinking about the whole killing and blood sucking thing........are cool!!
The action is constant throughout with brilliant martial arts fighting scenes, something we've all come to expect in every film from Snipes these days.
The acting is not half bad really. There is a lot of corney moments and the script is very limited but what all the actors have to work with, they do pretty well with. At the end of the day, as this is based on a comic, can we really expect anything more than corney lines and scenes.
Although I do like this film, there is one thing I can't stand.........the whole stake a vampire and they explode into dust instantly! I really am not a fan of this, I like the old slowly burst into flames we used to get in the old vampire films personally. This turn to dust instantly came into fashion in the Buffy the vampire slayer series and seems to have stuck for many films! I guess for a younger audience it is not as gross and scary to watch as slowly dying in flames and screaming in agony.
For me, I believe vampire flicks need a bit more horror in them.
Would I recommend this.............................yeah baby! It's fun and you can switch your brain off for an hour and a half!
If your looking for a bit of action and corney one liners, give this a go.
At less than a fiver from amazon it's a must have in my opinion.
It runs for two hours and is rated an 18.
What to say about Hula Hoops, well................these have to be one of my favourites from when I was a kid. I suppose everybody must have that memory of trying to fit one hoop over every finger and then eating them off one at a time, I know I certainly do. Unfortunately nowadays, due to having slightly fatter and chunkier fingers, I can no longer due that. But............
The trend is still going strong as I see my children do the exact same thing whenever they are allowed to have a packet.
The actual crisps themselves. I must say that I have a different opinion for different flavours where Hula Hoops are concerned. It seems that depending on what flavour you choose, you'll either get a burst of flavour of a really bland greasy potato taste.
I personally love the bbq ones myself. I used to be a big fan of ready salted but lately I've found that they just don't have enough flavour to them, and as I can no longer stick them on my fingers, the bland taste is just not enough.
The bbq however, ohhhhhhh baby, they are scrumptious and tantalise the old taste buds everytime! Unlike the ready salted, I have never had a pack where each hoop wasn't weel convered in the flavouring.
One thing that is quite good about the actual crisp packets, if you take interest in that type of thing, is the detail and info that is displayed on each pack. What I'm talking about are the different games they give instructions for where you use the hoops to play them. Very simple games but as my eight year old once told me, they are very fun to play before munching away!
As a crisp lover I do probably eat too many of the things but what I like about Hula Hoops is the fact that the packs aren't that big, I'm sure others will disagree and say "No way man, the more the better" but as crisps aren't really the healthyest things you'll ever eat, having a small pack as a snack and stopping at that amount, is probably a good thing!
The taste of these crisps are very different to their rivals in my opinion. I find that they are very potatoeeeeee (not a real word but say it as you see it) and do not have a fake feel to them like many others.
With regards to nutritional info..................I mean seriously..................does it really matter what cals or fat or other really bad for you stuff they have in them, at the end of the day, they are crisps, they are going to be bad for you no matter how much effort has gone into reducing.........whatever!
I personally do not choose my crisps based on which has less of a particular nutrient, I choose them based on what will taste the nicest, I know that may not be something everyone does but for me, if I'm taking the plunge and eating something that a weight loss club would punch me in the head over, I'm flipping sure I'm going to enjoy them!!!!!
I love Hula Hoops and see them as a leader in the race for crisp heaven, so all I can say is don't base your choice of crispy food delight on what has less fat, salt or cals.........................base it on what will make your tummy scream out in utter delight!!!!!!!!!!
Don't feel bad for joining the un-healthy revolution! Have a crisp today and munch away!
This review is my personal opinion.
If your looking for a classic 80's adventure film for all the family........this is it!
The goonies are a group of kids that are not the most popular around that live in a small town. A wealthy family in town are developing a large golf complex and are buying up loads of properties, and the goonies main head quartres, their leader Mikey's house, is next on the list to be knocked down if Mikeys dad can't come up with the money for the mortgage.
Because of this the goonies come up with this idea to track down a lost treasure by a pirate called one eyed willie. After finding a map they head out on it's trail, but end up having Mikey's older brother and two older girls tag along. The reason for this is because their entrance to the trail of treasure leads to them being tracked by a local deadly crime family and they have no option but to make their escape at the same time as looking for the treasure.
Cue, a wacky dangerous and fun adventure along a trail booby trapped by one eyed willie.
I grew up with this film and when I first watched it I sooooooooo wanted to be a goonie! Sitting at home watching the quirky gang make their journey and do the things they did, I was so jealous.
The film is all about friendship and sticking by each other through hard times. It is filled with fun and crazy stunts and makes you laugh almost every few minutes.
One thing I really loved was the fact that although their are a lot of bad people and some of the journey is very dangerous, the characters come across really innocent and you really feel for them every step of the way.
This film is a real classic and even now, when watched for the very first time, children and adults still love it and take away some of its lines for future reference and a daily basis.
"Hey you guys!" Sloth.
Truffle Shuffle by Chunk!
Two very memorable scenes that I always use when having a laugh with friends and family.
If you've never seen this masterpiece you really don't know what yoiur missing. I've seen it so many times yet when it appears on tv and the dvd is just across the room on the shelf, I still sit back and enjoy every second of it.
If you want to see the Hobbit, "Sam" from Lord of the Rings, as a young innocent adventure filled boy then you can find him in this as Mikey! (Sean Astin).
For only £2.99 from amazon I can't think of anything better to spend a bit of pocket change on. The film runs for an easy 1 hour and 54 mins and is only a PG.
I really do recommend this for all to watch as an alternative to some of the recent, harsh rude language filled kids movies of the present day. I mush prefer my son taking away some of the humour and attitude in a film like this as opposed to some films he has seen where the children take enjoyment out of being naughty and terrorising people in a way recent directors think is funny!
Enjoy a classic!
In the near future Earths resources are wearing thin and the planet is basically on the verge of dying if nothing is done.
The plan put together to solve this problem is too attempt to make Mars an environment that could support life.
After many years of probes and satellites sent to Mars surface with plant life and facilities for human life to survive, a manned ship is sent on a mission to set up camp. The team comprises of six people, all with different skills and all with very different personalities.
After a fatal accident to the space ship just before the crew are to venture to Mars surface, most of the crew take an escape pod to the surface in the hope of survival, leaving one crew member aboard in a hope of saving the ship.
Once on the planet revelations are revealed about what has developed on the planet and personalities clash with dia consequences. Throw in a robot dog type thing that is damaged and sent onto psycho mode and we end up with a race against time and a race for survival for the stranded astronaughts.
There have been many films made over the years about Earth dying and us humans trying to venture to other planets and I have to say that they are very hit and miss as to being good or bad!
This as far as I'm concerned is up there with the good.
The story is very un-realistic, the technology used to very far fetched but for some reason, the way it all unfolds is very entertaining, mostly due to the actors but also due to the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously. Giving us more of a film that is supposed to make you switch your brain off and just enjoy the eye candy as opposed to taking notes on all the plot holes and in-accurate info.
The cast of this film are superb, Val Kilmer (amazing quirky actor), Tom Sizemore (amazing quirky actor), Simon Baker (amazing quirky actor), you may get the idea with where I'm going with the whole bracket thing.
On top of them (not literally sitting on top of them) we also have Benjamin Bratt (meant to be the heart throb!), Terence Stamp (classic actor), and Carie-Anne Moss (one for the boys).
This cast coming together was pure brilliance (in my opinion). Each one of them is a person you would pick because of their unique acting talent, to enhance a film with maybe other well known actors. So throwing them in the mix together gives contant scenes where you give focused concentration on each person in turn as opposed to waiting to get back to the lead character, like many of us do in other films, I know I do sometimes.
Each one of these people brings something different to their characters and command very strong performances, even on scenes where their roles are short.
Although this film will never be up their with the greatest ever made, it is a favourite of mine and I have watched it many times. Kilmer, Sizemore and Baker are people that I will specifically watch a film to see, so for me this is pure gold!
I would recommend this to all to give a go, it really is entertaining!
At an hour and 46 mins you are definitely not wasting your time.
It is rated a 12.
Murtaugh (Glover) is an ageing cop who is not that far away from retirement. He is as straight as they come and always follows the rule book.
Riggs (Gibson) is younger and is a complete loose cannon, and a suicidal one too due to the loss of his wife in an accident. He has not concept of what rules are and will do what it takes to take on the criminals, putting himself and others at risk.
After being assigned to work together as partners these two cops clash at every turn and hate each others attitude, but after begininng work on a case close to Murtaugh, the two men begin to develop a trust and friendship like neither has ever had before.
Before long both men are left in a situation where they will have no choice but to trust each other with their lives and that of close family after uncovering a drugs ring that has links to past friends and very dangerous and deadly criminals.
This has to be one of the all time greatest cop partnership films ever! The was great, the action was great, the actors were and the chemistry that appeared between Glover and Gibson was like something that has been very difficult for anyone to ever re-create again. So much so that they went on to produce and further 3 sequels and even use their chemist for bit parts in other films, ie, in Maverick theres a bit where the two see each other and give looks or recognisation but no knowing why, very funny!
I love Gibsons' show of crazyness in this film and found him to be brilliant at portraying something that is really out there as far as suicidal and wacky are concerned. As this was reletively early in his big time blockbuster career, he shows us exactly why he has gone on to be so big!
Glover, well what can I say, if yo want to see Glover at his best, you have to watch in in the Leathal Weapon films, especially this one. His acting is superb and his way of bringing humour to such a serious character is brilliant. Although Glover has been appearing more and more these in big films, back then (1987) he was not quite a leading man A-lister, but his performance in this shows us that he really should have been!
All in all, although there have been many cop partnerships to come onto our screens, before and after, in my opinion none have ever been able to live up to what Glover and Gibson managed to achieve with Leathal Weapon. This is a true classic that went on to produce more of the same with each sequel!
I would recommend this to all as something definitely worth taking up space on your shelves!
At less than a fiver in most shops this is a must have. It runs for an easy 1 hour and 50 mins and is rated an 18.
Ben and Holly!!!
I thought I would give a bit of my opinion with regards to this as lately I have been forced to sit through many episodes with my two children.
I have a daughter that is three and a son that is seven, and they both can't help but sit still, thorougholy engrossed, when ever this programme is on.
Ben is an elf and Holly is a fairy princess. They both live in what they call their kingdom, which is basically a garden. In this world there are many elves and many fairys and they all live together in harmony, but Ben and Holly spend most of their days getting into all kinds of trouble.
They are best friends and do almost everything together. In every episode almost, we learn something about fairies and elves and what they do in their world.
As well as elves and fairies we get to meet all sorts of other creatures including lady birds, caterpillars and even witch's!
It's quite funny really because although this is a cartoon, it is actually quite informative for children about certain aspects of insect life and plants etc.
I don't want to admit this but I actually find my self sat with my children watching this programme with interest (oh dear!) It has very basic animation but the language and simple ideas are very entertaining and always put a smile on the viewers face (I say viewer because I don't want to say "my"). It also has fun music.
All in all, I think this is a very good edition to the childrens channel ( Nick Jnr is the channel we watch it on). It is usually on for half an hour and within that we get about three episodes roughly six to eight minutes long.
I can't see why any child wouldn't find this programme fun to watch, especially when an elf is introduced and they blow on their trumpet!
Set in WW2, this film is about the ingenious communication method thought up to stop the Japanese cracking codes. The ancient Navajo language is used and spoken by indians who are assigned to various units and called windtalkers.
Cage and Slater are two marines who are assigned to two of these "Windtalkers" and must make sure that they survive to use their language or if they are going to be caught, make sure the code is not broken (use your imagination on how slater and cage must make sure the code is not broken).
After forming friendships and realising that there is more to winning the war than just killing, the four men start a journey through the war that will test everything about them.
Although I do enjoy a good war film, I wouldn't say I am a massive fan, but on this one I have to say that I am a big fan.
I love the acting talent of Cage and Slater, the way they talk, the way they look, and believe they do particularly well in this film.
Not only does this film highlight some of the horrors of all the killing and how scary everything was, it does well to give us a story about a few characters and how their relationship develops throughout.
I like the difference in the characters and how they are basically the same when things come down to the wire. There are different attitudes but because of the horror faced by all, the attitudes have the same objective.
Basically I like the whole story of the film and find it entertaining at the same time as getting caught up in the whole emotional side of things, I don't want to lie so I will tell the truth and say that at certain points a tear or two tried to make an appearance!
The special effects are particularly good in this, but what else would you expect from a John Woo film (over the top explosions and masses of them).
I would recommend this to all but say have a hanky handy!
It runs for 2 hours and 14 mins and is rated a 15, it does have a lot of blood and gore!
Ebay! I have to admit that I used to be very dubious about using ebay a few years back.....not because I had heard bad things or becasue I had a bad experience, but just because it looked scary.
Selling something to someone you don't know, not seeing them face to face, not knowing if they will see the thing you've sold them in the same light as you did......it all made me feel very uneasy............but!!!!!!!!
Then I actually signed up for an account and jumped in head first (the only way to do anything baby!)
Once I had taken the plunge, bought a few things, sold a few things, I became an addict!
It has so much to offer that you just can't find anywhere else.
Cars, clothes, dvds, books, art, electrical goods, diy gear, jewllery, craft materials, posters, memorabilia, utensils, etc, etc, etc.
Holy moly, the list just goes on!
Not only does it have a near endless list of goods to buy or sell, but it does a great job of giving you confidence in who your buying from.
The whole feedback system gives you insight into the seller or buyer, detailing their history on the site, good or bad, and allows you to know nearly everything about all their previous transactions
You wouldn't get that if you bought from an add in a paper or on a shop window, or even at a car-booty!
This info gives me great peace of mind when I buy on ebay and even better, if you are un-satisfied with everything after a buy, there are systems in place that allow you return the goods, speak up about them, or just plain complain.
Everything is very secure on the site and you can see that a lot of hard work goes into keeping everyone happy.
The only downside for me on this site whic isn't really a down side parse', is paying commission on what you sell. I know it is normal practive and it happens with any kind of auction site or room, but me being the greedy little seller that I am, would love to get all my earnings (greedy, greedy, greedy). I think what they charge is pretty fair and will now stop moaning about it!
When using the site, you have to be aware that they charge a % on what you sell, so that they can stay in business and earn themselves basically.
There is a very detailed list on the site about the charges but for the basics, you need to look at paying them around 9% of the value of what you sell. This figure is not for everything and does differ, like I said, theres a detailed list easily visable on the site.
I will finish by saying that I love ebay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it, I love it, I love it.
It is these days my favourite site for picking up bargains and for making a bit of cash.
I find it very easy to use and love the anticipation of seeing if I've got an item for near to nothing and love occassionaly getting into a bidding war.
As you may of already guessed, I really go recommend this site and will continue to use it for as long as it exists!
Set in the recent future, everyday life involves living in harmony with robots. Robots that are there to help with everyday life and that have protocals built into them not allowing them to hurt human life.
This is something believed by all except Will Smith, a cop with a painful past that just does not trust robots. Everybody mocks him until one day when a scientist of the major robot manufacturing plant is found dead, apparently killed by a robot.
As Smith gets closer and closer to the truth, not only does his life get put in danger but he also begins to find out a truth that could mean the end of life as we know it.
With the help of a robot scientist and a robot, Smith gets into a race against time to figure out what is going on and how to stop it, befire it's too late!
I know a lot of people out there are now Will Smith fans and believe he hamms things up a bit too much in his films but I am not one of those. I actually really like Will Smith and have that apparent rare ability to take him and some of his films for what they really are.........over the top entertainment with humorous corney lines.
I don't read into them too much, I don't pick at plot holes and I appreciate that Smith is acting the way he does on purpose as opposed to not being able to act (all you have to do is watch his more serious films to realise the guy can really act and put on a believable emotional performance).
Now, with regards to this futuristic sci-fi, action, humorous special effects ensemble, this film delivers exactly what it intends. It gets you to switch your brain off a bit and take in the eye candy on display.
Although, unbelievable, I thought the story was pretty good, and the characters were worth watching for the whole movie.
The special effects on the robots were brilliant and at times they looked too real!
This film needed over the top acting to be enjoyable and it delivered. If it had been taken too seriously then the whole thing just would not have worked. A more serious attempt at the story would have needed to be picked at and obviously it would have failed badly!
I liked this film and I would recommend it to all, well except to all those anti Will Smith people, they will just pick at it however good or bad!
At less than four pound on amazon your looking at pocket change.
This runs for an easy 1 hour and 49 mins and is rated a 15.
The dvd has many special features but none that I would scream out in enjoyment over.
Back in a horror category I love, we have a creature feature!
It's the opening night for a new exibit at Chicago's natural history museum but what the people are expecting is a piece of history, not a living monster that wants nothing more than to devour everyone it comes into contact with.
After discovering a relic in a remote part of the world, a scientist begins to behave very strangely and strange things begin to happen.
After the relic is delivered to the museum, Sizemore, a local cop, is drawn into a mystery involving strange deaths and an evil that he believes not possible.
With the help of a museum scientist, Sizemore begins to unravel the mystery and learn the true identity of what is savagely killing so many people.
Trapped in a locked down building, all the survivors are drawn together in a battle of survival against an ancient evil creature that will stop at nothing to kill and multiply!
I am a big creature feature fan so obviously I am going to be a big fan of this movie, but for those of you who are not as into them as me, don't be too put off. I have a friend who is not into creature features but he tells me he loves this film, so I take that as a good sign for those of you who may be a bit dubious about the whole creature thing!
For once we have a recent attempt at creating a creature as good as Alien, or predator without copying them, that doesn't fall flat on it's head. For too many years now people have been obsessed with developing a creature that appeals to the masses like those ones did but never quite getting the whole thing right.
I believe they succeeded with this creature in this film and that comes from a big creature feature fan.
Tom Sizemore is a favourite of mine, never really having the lead in his films but always coming out as one of the memorable characters, this is due to his quirky way of acting and his on-screen presence. He brings all his talent brilliantly to this film and does well to command the lead role (although he does share the lead with the creature).
As far as story goes, this is not up there with the best, but then again, any creature film that delves into story too much ends up being a bit naf and boring (my opinion). What you want in a creature film is a mean scary creature and lots of mayhem!
I would recommend this to all to give a go, fans of creatures or not, it really is a good watch!
At 1 hour and 45 mins this is an easy watch. It is rated a 15.
For less than a fiver this is a must have.
This nature chasing film is full of action and corney lines to boot!
A group of storm chasing scientists are in hot pursuit of one of the most destructive weater fronts to sweep through mid-Americas Tornado valley in 50 years.
Their intention is to get close enough to one of the twisters so that they can launch electronic sensors into the funnel in order to get information and readings never before possible in a hope to learn more about the storms and develop better warning systems.
Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt are the main scientists but they are not on good terms. Paxton has given up and wants to move on with his life, but Hunt, due to a very painful past involving losing her family to twisters will never give, and she will do anything to convince Paxton, a man with a natural ability to read twisters, to join back up with them and help with their task.
Emotions will run high and destuction will be widespread!
At first when I heard about this film I have to admit that I was not wholely convinced it would be much cop, but..............there's a but, I was very, very wrong.
Not only were the special effects amazing (especially a flying cow) but the action sequences were really impressive, and not only that, we actually had a pretty decent emotional stroy line running throughout the entire plot.
Sometimes films that rely on mother nature action and special effects often give up on a believable story but this one was on the money. It had a painful past story, a story to do with our main characters and their history and a deep story running about competition in the field of storm chasing.
I found Paxton particularly good in this, but then again I like the actor and find him great in most films, I think it's because he has a cool accent and way of talking (Aliens being ht ebest for that).
Helen Hunt, I'm not massively keen on her but she did do her role justice, although I do think other lead females may have been a slightly better choice, but I won't slag her off, she did the job required!
Although this is not the greatest mother nature destructive film I've ever seen I do believe it can hold it's own and wold recommend it as a good action filled watch, at times being very funny!
At less than four pund from amazon this is a good buy.
It runs for an hour and 48 mins and is rated a PG. A very good film made in 1996!
The story is about two very different cops from two very different parts of the world, being forced to end up working together in order to take down a very dangerous enemy that wants to destroy the peace between the cops two nations.
Chris Tucker is the cop from LA, he has a big mouth and high hopes of progressing far in his career, but unfortunately due to his fast/big mouth, that may never happen.
Jacky Chan is the cop from China, he is an expert in the martial arts and his dedication to the job has made him an asset to the force and won him many commendations over the years.
After Chan's close friend and important Chinese official's daughter is kidnapped, he ends up tracking her to LA, but is forced out of the rescue operation by the FBI, and instead made to partner up with Tucker.
This partnership was meant to be a kind of punishment to both, but ends up being the best thing that could have happened as they both learn to trust each other and use each other's unique skills to track down the girl and take on the criminals.
I found this film to by very, very funny. I know there have been many cop partnerships over the years, especially comedy ones, and yes, they have mostly all been very good, but this for me, brought two very different acting talents together and done particularly well.
Not only do we have two different nationalities thrown together but we also have a comedian and a martial artist in the same individuals, something that goes together perfectly with these guys.
Chris Tucker is great to watch in film. His unique sounding voice together with his quick mouth makes for very entertaining viewing. He's the sort of actor that I find it very difficult not to laugh at constantly.
Jacky Chan is a legend as far as I'm concerned. Not many martial artists can go on to be amazing with regards to their skill, have a great acting talent and portray constant humour, but he gives us this in bucket loads, especially with Tucker to back him up.
The two of them together works so well. You can see real chemistry between the two actors and because of this we see something similar to that of the leathal weapon series.
I would recommend this film to all to see at least once, it has laugths, it has action, it has drama and above all.........at the end we get to see all the bloopers (fantastic).
At less than a fiver from amazon you can't go wrong.
The film runs for 1 hour and 38 mins and is rated a 12.
Wow, the modern day version of the classics that I remember watching when I was a child in the eighties.
I have two children, a three year old and a seven year old, and lately they have been watching some of the old cartoons that have been re-playing on Sky, and they have been thoroughly enjoying them but once they got a glimpse of this, they were hooked.
These days, I get a bit tired of my children only having programmes to watch that are about children doing naughty things or stupid and dangerous things, it seems that these programmes are everywhere. So I am so happy that something this lighthearted and nice, has gotten my childrens interest so well.
We have got all our favourites inlcuding Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and many others. They have fun and exciting adventures together and show the meaning of friendship and helping others, something that I think is great for children to see and learn.
During their adventures they have a tool called a mouse-ka-tool, a sequence where they need a tool for a job and must pick the correct one out of a choice of four, this is something that the audience can get involved in at home.
One thing that stands out in this carftoon is that it has fun and entertaining music and songs throughout which my children dance to and sing along with, I even find myself having a little boogie with them sometimes!
With modern day technology merged in with classic entertaining characters, I think they have created something very good here, and in my opinion it is a better form of entertainment for young children to be around as opposed to the other options that included treaching youngsters allthe wrong values in life.
At twenty five minutes an episode I think you get a lot of good entertainment. My children struggle sometimes with their attention span on other cartoons, but not on this, which tells me it must be doing the job intended.
This is something I would recommend for all parents to let their children watch, it's good for them in so many ways.
Tommy Lee Jones plays Mike Roark an expert in LA's emergency response unit. He is called in action one day, on his day off, when it becomes apparent that a volcano is beneath LA after it causes mass destruction from causing earth quakes before exploding and shouting out larva.
The race is on for Mike to get his daughter out of harms way whilst trying to organise the city to deal with the eruption. With the help of geologist Amy, Mike must try and figure out how to stop the larva from destroying the city in as little amount of time as possible in order to save as many lives as possible.
The race is one and he has a very, fiery competitor to contend with.
As far as getting someone who can stare danger in the face and grit their teeth hard goes, Tommy Lee Jones is your man. But if we are looking for someone who can show real heart felt emotion through facial expressions, I'm afraid I believe Mr Jones fall's short. There's just too many wrinkles and suntan to get any through.
But regardless of the show of emotions, I thought Jones was very good during the action scenes and gave a great performance. He may look old but when it comes to action hero stuff he obviously still has what it takes.
The actual idea of the film may be far fetched but for me, it was very entertaining. It makes a change to see some natural disaster occur where you wouldn't expect as opposed to your well known things going off all the time.
I liked the way people came together in this film and basically were willing to sacrifice themselves for others, I know in real life maybe not everybody would be like that, but hey, this is about a volcano in LA, so seeing people care for others regardless of race was nice. I also liked the touch at the end where everyone is covered in ash, making everybody the same, no different colours of nationalities, obviously telling us that we are all actually of earth and are basically the same, so why all the hostility all the time with race and colour?????
All in all I would recommend this to all and say hey, forget the plot holes, just enjoy!
Less than four pound to buy and running time is 1 hour and 40 mins. It is also a 12.
No special features but have fun.
After finding that her boyfriend has gone a bit loopy and then seeing him kill himself, Maddie (Kristen Bell) is obsessed that something strange is going on. All her friends are beginning to act strange and loads of people are no longer turning up for school.
It's only when Dexter (Ian Somerhalder) a guy who bought her boyfriends pc, contacts her after discovering something weird on the computer that she realises something terrible is happening.
Together, the two of them find out that the dead have discovered a way to contact the living through electronic devices, and that cell-phones and computers are allowing the dead to infect the living with death after touching them and slowly destroy the will for a person to live before causing suicide.
In a race against time the two new friends desperately try to figure out a way of shutting this doorway but at the same time as not being caught themselves. Will they succeed or will they die, or will they have to just flee for their lives?
I know many people may not agree, and alot will say this is a bad rip-off of the Japanese original, but as far as I'm concerned, this film scared the crap out of me! And I don't mean it spooked me out as I watched it, it flipping well made me jump out of my seat and made me feel creeped out for weeks after. I'm even feeling creeped out now as I write this and remember the scenes!!!!!
The sheer idea of death getting me through the blooming computer after finding a portal through a connection makes me wary of any weird thing I come across on the net. When I think about everyday life and how much of it involves electrical equipment, it literally sends shivers down my spine when I think of this film.
I found that this film had very good scenes for making a person jump, I mean really good ones. And the whole thing of creeping along and waiting for something to happen but not knowing when......this had loads of that!
The actors themselves played their parts very well. But then again all they had to do was act scared and crap themselves everytime something happened, but saying that, they succeeded where others do fail.
All in all, I really mean it when I say this really, really did creep the hell out of me, but I do know people who didn't find it scary, or good saying that, but for me, a person that really gets into a film, it was a complete nightmare fest!
I recommend this if you would like a good scare and at only £3.99 from most shops, why not?
It runs for a spine shivering 1 hour and 25 mins and gives you nightmares (also rated at only a 15, what the hell??).
There are some good special features which I found a bit spooky!
