WHAT Hair grips, often called kirby grips which comes from a brand name i think, are a magnificent invention! Use them to secure hair in place whenever necessary. The ability to choose a colour makes them blend fabulously and you can just slip them into your hair on the go. They're small and easy to use so theyre a great choice any time and any age. USE I use them to clip up stray hairs for a side plait, pony or bun, I also use them for beehives, chignons and quiffs. There is literally no limit to what you can use them for! And because they're so tiny you can tuck them in your hand bag! COST It's quite a reasonable price, 30 for £1.49, although in my case they tend to bend and then they become useless! For me, these grips are often one use only, but that depends on your use. Heavy duty securing of a whole style or just tucking back tendrils. RECOMMENDATION I would suggest that using Boots brand is great for accessibility(tell me a cheaper price for grips on the high street!) and ease but if you use them very often, which i do for my velcro rollers, then I recommend bulk buying online for a little less because I really race through them! Although im not sure about their lock picking capabilities as i've never tried even though american films make it seem like thats all we woman ever do!
This is heat protective spray which promises to save your hair from intense heat and for an added bonus promote straightness! The packaging is nice, and it has a cool little switch so you can stop it spraying without permission which is great for travelling. That's as kind as I can be, actually. It doesn't smell great, it has a sour clinical sort of smell to it, yummy! If you spray it into wet hair it makes it difficult to brush through, and when you dry it the hair clumps together as if you hair something stuck in it, which is not a great look. If you apply it in straight hair it sits in the hair and makes it sticky, and actually terrifies me as it doesn't dry in properly so when you straighten it it sizzles and I panic about my hair! It also leaves a greasy residue the next day which means you have to wash your hair more too! It doesn't make a difference to the overall straightness of your hair either so to me its kind of redundant. If i wanted sticky hair I'd have put chewing gum in it by now. If i wanted clumpy hair I'd use a lot of hair spray. For me this product doesn't tick any boxes.
OK, first off the bat, I love the smell! Secondly, It works. That's the basics! I'm sure you know how it works, but in case you don't I'll give a little explanations. You hold the can a few cm from your hair, and spray! I tend to do my hair line, under my fringe and lift up a few layers to make sure i really get a lift. Unless your hair is absolutely filthy then spraying anywhere but the roots does nothing because there's nothing to absorb there! Dry shampoo just absorbs all the oil from your hair taking off the weight and letting your hair be naturally bouncy and lovely again! Once you've sprayed just rub it in and voila, look whose a real live Bridgitte Bardot! Work it baby! It's really great for everyday use, when you've overslept and you're running late for work(Don't lie - we all do it!) but its great for heavy duty use with festivals, and trust me its hard to perk up these tresses after a few days in the mud without a shower! You need to be very thorough rubbing it in because otherwise you'll either end up looking grey or dandruffy and we don't want that do we? That's counter-productive. I don't find it too harsh either, after you wash it out your hair is back to normal, unlike some products that leave your hair feeling dry and damaged. You may wander round the shops and spot a cheaper alternative close by and think why should i splurge when i can save? Trust me spend the extra pennies it's worth it for a really reliable product that you can trust to support you through those dark dirty days time and time again! Congrats Batiste, I'm filthy and no one can tell!
I'm naturally very dark haired and took the plunge and went for the blonde bob once upon a time, but unfortunately for me I didn't come out quite the Gwen Stefani look alike I'd hoped to be! My cartoon yellow hair lead me to this shampoo, which did a great job toning down the UV rays shooting out of my hair. Maybe even a little too great. After using a bottles worth twice a week for however long I actually ended up with a bit of a Silver Fox vibe. Infact my friend pulled me a side and said "Char I think you've been a little heavy handed with the dry shampoo!" Er no love! I've not got any in! Bloody thing made the more ash coloured parts of my hair actually start to look greyish, which isn't great! Pretty hard to get grey out without ruining the rest of your blonde locks, bet you didn't know that! As an actual shampoo it works great, clean fresh hair and all that! I would recommend that if you plump for this, use it slowly, maybe once a week and stop using it when you've reached the desired colour! If you keep going you'll end up looking like you're ageing prematurely and what woman aims for that?! Good luck, beautiful blondes!
As a woman, and having been to 4 weekend camping festivals, I'm an old hand with dry shampoo and I decided to give this product a bash when I was restocking the stash with a poorly purse and I definitely will splash the quid or so extra next time because to be honest i was sorely disappointed! It does smell pretty good, I will give it that! It doesn't really do an awful lot to perk up your hair at all to be honest. It gives your hair a matte effect and it stays plastered to your scalp, so no improvements there! In fact it may be better do go with greasy hair because at least that has a shine to it! I was drawn to it because it was brown and I thought that any lazy rubbing it wouldn't leave me looking like I had dandruff, which was a major bonus, I mean who wants to do the scalp scratch when they crawl out of a soggy tent on Sunday morning at Download? Not me. But even with a crazy amount of hair rubbing and making myself look like a crazy scruff with nits it didn't do much to improve my look! It's very harsh and I find that when i wash it out not only do i wash out the brown pigment of the dry shampoo but i actually end up dragging out some of the dye and it's left me looking like i've had a crap attempt at ombre hair! NOT impressed there. The brown pigment will also stay on your forehead and hands all day! It also has a very dry damaging effect on the hair and I always need a good deep condition after use, which ends up being time consuming, ironically the very thing I was trying to save buying the product in the first place! I actually thought Hey i'll give this a second try because I'm an idiot and also a bit skint, so i bought another for Reading festival and because i was so sick of looking like I'd painted on hair instead of growing it so i actually walked into the local town and bought a can of better quality dry shampoo! Final Word: NO!
I bought these straighteners as a quick fix after my old pair bit the dust and wasn't expecting alot for the price! I've been proved wrong though as they've definitely proved worth more than the cost and have lasted very well! The plating on these straighteners does do as promised and keep hair sleek and shiny while straightening (or curling!). I have quite long thick hair with layers and so when straightening i sometimes find it hard to blend my hair so the layers don't look like a flight of stairs but the straighteners do blend it very well and keep my hair in check all day, which i love. As I've said my hair is thick but it is also quite unruly and so I used to struggle to get it to stay poker straight and stay poker straight but this product keeps a long-lasting straightness in my hair that other products do not rival, even GHDs. There are 3 heat settings on the appliance, 180, 200 and 230, in my opinion 230 is too hot for most hair types and I used to use it to speed it up but in all honesty it is too hot and i actually noticed some steam coming off when i used that heat to curl my hair so I don't personally recommend going that high! With my naturally curly and thick hair I find that 180 is enough to straighten or curl my hair perfectly well anyway, and it is definitely much healthier hair-wise! The swivel cord on these straighteners makes doing your hair so much easier because it turns as you use it rather than twisting the cord and ruining it or putting your hands in awkward angles to get the right angle for your hair. The fact that the tongs are rounded also improves this products quality because it helps create lovely curls, flicks and waves too, rather than the boxy angular curls you can get with more square straighteners. I have found that the paint has chipped off the tongs with use though, so don't expect them to stay pristine forever! Anything that is well loved shows sings of use eventually! The heat protective mat is a great idea and I always use it, it definitely has saved some carpet in it's time! The little case in my opinion is silly though. I 'think it's particularly nice or high quality and its actually a bit of a tight fit for the straighteners so to be honest, I binned mine! The straighteners also have a feature where they turn off after 75 minutes which is great for, well you know, not burning the house down or anything. Although i have never had to rely on it, to be fair. The heating up in 15 seconds thing isn't perfectly accurate actually - the lowest heat definitely works in 15 seconds but for the highest heat it actually takes a little longer but I wouldn't bother too much about that as it's only a case of about 15 seconds not 15 minutes! In summary I think these are an ace product and definitely do not regret buying them! Cheers Babyliss!
I first got this as a Christmas present, I'd always been a pencil girl, for this gift i will forever be in my aunt's debt - i love it! I absolutely swear by this mascara i think its awesome. For me, the application is quick, easy and convenient. It slides on smoothly and you never have to worry about sharpening anything! The colour is very intense and bold, which can be hard to come by with a pencil as I have found they always smudge and are not quite black. But this Maybelline product gives me exactly what I want, a bold black colour without sharpening or scratching my eyelids. It removes easily too, a little water or a make up remover wipe and its gone! That definitely makes crawling into bed after a night out a little easier. I find that it stays on very well too, I tend to set my foundation with a loose translucent powder before applying the eyeliner and then i avoid all potential unsightly smudging issues. No panda eyes over here! One aspect of the product i will criticise is the brush that's included isn't great for a fine line because its got quite thick bristles so i would recommend either buying a smaller brush or hanging onto one of those teeny weeny ones you get with most liquids so use with this eyeliner. For application I recommend you use it quite sparingly as it is a gel and therefore quite thick so even if it looks like there isn't an awful lot on the brush there probably is! The little pot seems to last absolutely ages too, I've been using it daily and religiously since Christmas 2011 and I've only been through 2 pots which you wouldn't guess when you see how little they are! In my opinion, for their long lasting use, dramatic effect and affordable advice I think it's great value and I routinely recommend to a friend.
Now, we all love perfume, it makes us feel dainty, feminine and fresh! This perfume comes in very understated and demure packaging but don't worry it doesnt smell boring! Its a lovely floral sweet smell, that always earns me plenty of compliments when i go out! I have very sensitive skin but have not ever reacted to this perfume, nor has my mother who is even more sensitive skinned than me!(if thats possible!) Its got the perfect balance, it isnt too subtle but it is in no way overpowering, smell-wise. I think this perfume has the potential to be a real classic, like Chanel no5! Its sweet and fun but doesnt smell like a giggling school girl if you know what I mean! It doesnt smell cheap or remind you of a faddy celebrity perfume either! I am aware that its quite expensive but I personally think its definitely worth a little extra compared to some perfumes on the market that are just glorified tap water! I think the bottle is nice in an understated way too, which makes it seem even more classic. Its definitely a very on trend perfume choice right now that seems to be a hit with everyone whenever i wear it! Its my new go-to perfume, I couldn't go without it!
I love my blackberry, i have it in purple so not only is it practical its cute too! I really like the fact that if you have any notifications a tiny icon pops up, its informative but not annoying or obstructive. You can also change the notification settings to make a noise or a specific vibration pattern for each notification which i find useful. It also allows you to put calls on hold or receive 2 at once which makes it very effective for socialising, as does the blackberry exclusive instant messaging which is free on the contract and makes chatting on the go very easy as you can link it to facebook and twitter! The qwerty keypad is very convenient for me too, allows me to type very quickly without looking, another strength for on the go socialising. The camera isn't great which isn't a great feature. The battery life seems very long a good 2 days with (reasonable) use, which the iPhone can't claim. In my opinion it has a better socialising capacity than an iPhone but doesn't match up on the gaming front. Solitaire and Sudoku is enough to kill my time in moments of desperation for me though, so i'm pretty satisfied. Good luck with your phone hunt!
I have this foundation in Ivory, it was the palest i could find at the time in superdrug. I believe it is the palest of the range. I found the colour to have an orange hue and left my face with that dorito-y glow that no body aims for. The application of this product is very easy and quick but the coverage isnt fabulous. It i's great for heavy duty use - like the morning after the night before when we've all got those bags to hide! It doesn't give great coverage over blemishes. I have a very small scar above my lip (childhood accident) and it doesnt cover that while other foundations do. It doesnt cover spots very well either, if youve not picked it it's just gonna show - pretty unapologetically, and if you've picked it it clings and makes the area worse. I have combination skin which this product did not flatter. It clung to any dry skin and really highlighted it, which wasnt great and but went oily very quickly in other areas. Unless you have time to exfoliate and powder your face everytime you pass a mirror it isn't very practical! I don't think any awful lot of this foundation and will be moving on to bigger and better things(which are probably much more expensive!)
I like to consider myself adventurous when it comes to make up because i like to hunt a bargain and i'm always searching for something better, but for me this is the old faithful - like an old friend you can always turn to in times of need! The brush is very big which means you can apply it faster and give more lift to your lashes from the base. I personally like the 'absolute black' shade, it gives a very dark and matte black which looks great! Its smudge-free and very long lasting, even though i prefer not to use waterproof eye make up it still stands strong against the tear test! It applies very easily because of the straight forward handle and thick brush but because of the straight edges of the brush it doesn't give as much curve to your lashes as a spoon brush might. I recommend using eyelash curlers before application to give yourself the maximum volume and really open up those lovely eyes! It can be hardwork taking it off, however. Its more of an eye make up remover job than just water, even without the waterproof version.
Personally I'm a big mascara fan, it makes a huge difference to your face even without other make up. I couldn't go without it! The Maybelline Falsies mascara has a spoon brush which gives a really great lift and curve to your lashes, making your eyes seem more open, which is lovely! But in my experience it isn't great for length, and if you use the 'wiggle' technique when applying instead of lengthening like you'd hope it does tend to clump more. It kind of looks like your eyelashes have been comfort eating! I find that it tends to dry out very quickly and by the end of the day it can sometimes be shedding and leaving ghastly little black lumps under your eyes - not a fabulous look! Although, I think that if you're going to a natural day time look its fabulous and its great for blending false eyelashes! For the day Maybelline Falsies mascara is my weapon of choice, but for a more bold or dramatic look or length I personally shop elsewhere. In summary, for a casual look with a tight budget, this mascara is definitely a legitimate choice!
