I recently purchased the K-5 from a DSLR manufactuer that I originally never heard of. While Pentax isn't a huge name in the world of DSLRs, it can certainly produce affordable ones. However, the looks and functionality wouldn't be better than my Canon EOS 550D. More in-depth paragraphs follow.
Quality and Build
The Pentax K-5's body is very similar to the existing Pentax K-7 body. The body is made from a magnesium allow, which lets it battle against reasonable amounts of water and dust. In my hand, it felt lighter than the specifications stated so should I carry this for long amounts of time, it wouldn't be too much of a pain. Unfortunately, the grip and thumb-rest wasn't too well, since Pentax decided that instead of going the extra step, there would be only enough room for users to get enough grip. I didn't like the button placement either, especially since the menu button sat towards the bottom. Despite my critisism towards the button placements, a few things are conveniently placed such as the mode dial. I wouldn't rate the build anymore than 3.5/5, although that may be due to my Canon EOS range favouritism.
The K-5 has a few improvements over the K-7 in terms of burst speed, increasing the 5.2fps to 7fps. The K-5 offers full-HD 1080p recording (at 25fps) while also offering the standard 720p and VGA options. Unfortunately, audio recording is only mono using the pre-installed microphone, although a socket remains for external stereo recording. Live view comes with the movie recording with three auto-focus options through face-detection or contrast-detection. Live view system is convenient and provides a better use than manual adjustment.
The K-5 also provides an option for keeping horizons straight.
The K-5 has an increase in pixels than the K-7. RAW output is recommended, though JPEG output is satisfactory. As the ISO setting increases, more "noise" is introduced into the image and there is less image quality. The maximum ISO setting is 51,200.
The Pentax K-5 is an enjoyable camera to use but the shape of the camera and its controls could've been designed better. Where build was lost, it was made up with the features. The menu is also easy to use.
With the camera's low value, I rate the features 4/5, build quality 3/5 and value 3/5.
I recently purchased the Otterbox Defender Series Military Camo case. The quality of it is supreme. There are so many aspects, including warranty and design, that I actually need to divide the sections up:
Bulkiness, Dimensions and Weight
To be fair, many people have went up to me and say that my case is bulky. They are correct, since the case is thick enough to hide the sleek, aesthetically-pleasing design of my iPhone 4S in white, with the thickness being roughly 1.7cm for me with Amazon.co.uk confirming that. However, this seems weightless, at only 50 grams for the case itself! This is a premium case, as far as I can tell. You will get used to the bulkiness, as I made the conversion from a thin, unprotective plastic Air Jacket plastic case to the Otterbox Defender case quite easily. It is not ugly at all, despite what some people may think after viewing an online image of it.
Amazingly, underneath the silicone and the design, there is a Polycarbonate "case", which is essentially a wireframe. You place your iPhone inside and you have three 'clips' where you press together until you hear a click, signalling that your iPhone is safe inside your case. Once the Otterbox case is snapped to your iPhone with the included screen protector glued to the polycarbonate part, you fit the silicone part in. Two layer protection. Very efficient.
The buttons are very easy to press, which I wasn't sure about until I got it, due to my experiences with the also-protective Tech21 iMesh case.
I have to say, the features are unique and surely the patents Otterbox have reinforce my statement. There are port covers for the 30-pin port, headphone jack and the mute button. The volume buttons and the power button, including virtually everything else not mentioned are covered without option by the silicone.
Here's the important part: The Defender Series for the iPhone comes with a screen protector glued to it - This means that it will be kept clean! Also, the Apple logo has a transparent plastic layer (also attached to the case) covering it, ensuring that the iPhone itself is dirt free.
Here's a neat feature as well - You get a hip holster for your Defender as well, which explain why you have an intentional hollow part in the side clips of the iPhone. It essentially allows you to clip the Defender case with the iPhone inside onto the hip holster. The removal is easy.
Otterbox Warranty and Customer Service
Unfortunately, some people have defects in their cases. However, even if you throw your case away after it breaks, you can phone up Otterbox by the number provided on their website (Use Skype to call since it is a freephone US number) and their excellent customer service will ship you a replacement via FedEx without any hassle.
Important Notice: Remember to keep your receipt as it is REQUIRED by the support agents in order to help you!
This case, without bias, is the best one I have used in my history of using iDevice cases. This is definitely worth the price and not to mention, the protection is very efficient. Unfortunately, it isn't waterproof, so be aware before you dunk it in your bath tub while reviewing the case for a YouTube video. The installation and removal of the case is quite easy but can get a bit tedious as well.
Congratulations to Otterbox for this amazing case.
Side-note: As of writing, Otterbox are releasing the Armour series for the iPhone. Stay alert for notifications from Otterbox!
In the title, I have stated that Amazon is a safe haven for sellers. That is truly real and I will be explaining this in detail. This is a review for Amazon UK's Seller Central, rather than the buying aspects of Amazon UK.
I have recently made my first sale on Amazon UK's Seller Central. It was a listing for the Sony NWZE464B.CEW Series 8GB Walkman - Black (ASIN: B005B8XPKI). As I chose using my personal individual account, the buyer was in the UK and purchased standard shipping. Why is this so important? I will breakdown the aspects of Seller Central.
Unfortunately, withdrawing is a disadvantage to new users. You must wait fourteen days but it's an advantage to the buyer as the buyer cannot be defrauded of money. To explain further, Amazon acts as your temporary bank account where you can withdraw to your real bank account by visiting the navigation bar, hovering over "Settings" and by clicking "Account Info". Once your fourteen day wait is over and you are no longer a "newbie to Amazon Seller Central", you may withdraw the amount of money the buyer paid Amazon to your bank account if Amazon has approved of the fact that the product you sold has been received. I am looking forward to receiving my money from the Walkman sale.
Unfortunately, despite Amazon being a "safe haven", it ranks users not only by price but mainly due to seller ratings. Although the end-user can toggle the listing by price, it seems the default listing is by price AND seller rating. This will be bad for new users as new users must "up their reputation" on Amazon before they can be in an advantageous place to sell.
Shipping is a major part in your business. If it wasn't, your customer will not be receiving the product! Shipping is very easy since your buyer pays for shipping during checkout. When you receive an email that an order has been made, you can go in to the Seller Central Platform, visit your order and purchase shipping directly from Amazon to print out! Yup - that means that Amazon processes your delivery automatically. All you have to do is take your package to the shipping company's store. The shipping charges are automatically deducted from the earnings your seller paid you. Easy come, easy go.
Fees *may* be a problem for you if you're selling huge electronics. Luckily, if your items are priced under £50 each, then you're in luck and you won't be spending much on fees. Deliveries take about £4 off for domestic standard shipping, though.
Reports and Graphing
I must say, apart from automated shipping receipt printing, this is one of my favourite features. If you plan to sell vast amounts of items, your performance graphs are essential. This is why Amazon has kindly taken it into account and in the Navigation bar, you can either click on "Reports" or "Performance". Easily done.
In summary, Amazon's Seller Central has been a great place to sell. Although I have only sold one item, I guarantee it's safe, fraud-free and has an easy interface for all.
I wish you good luck in your sales and purchases.
The Microsoft Sidewinder X6 is a perfect keyboard for everyone. Whether you are a businessman or a hardcore gamer, this keyboard is the best for you. The main features include a programming column of keys, a volume dials, gaming controls, a detachable keyboard and the most attractive feature, an adjustable level of red background light.
I shall start with the advantages. This keyboard has up to twelve programmable keys which is flexible and can do anything from starting a shortcut to shutting your computer down. The numpad can be detached and replaced on either side of the keyboard, which is great for people with special keyboard placement requirements. The keyboard itself is ergonomic. The dials at the top adjust the red background glow of the keyboard and the system volume. On the left of the dials are useful media keys and a few pre-defined macros for gaming.
Unfortunately, the disadvantages impact heavily. As a rubberised keyboard, the "bounce-back" of the keyboard is not as efficient to the laptop keyboard I am typing this review on. Unfortunately, due to this, you may end up pressing double-keys or not pressing the keys at all, depending on how much attention you are paying to your typing. As a touch-typist, this has affected me a lot. Also, the macro keys are somewhat slow and take a long time to start the program. I guess this is a software flaw. The media keys to the immediate left of the dials have a HUGE software flaw. If you are not on Windows Media Player or a compatible program, pressing the media (Play/Stop/Forward/Backward) keys may crash your "explorer.exe" or even worse, Microsoft Word or some other important office program without even saving your work. Finally, the "Esc"/Escape key is positioned very poorly, making it directly above the macro keys instead of two keys above the TAB key.
As a final verdict, the problems outweigh the advantages. However, the keyboard has a nice design and is great if you're a professional gamer, since you wouldn't be pressing the "Esc" key a lot. I wouldn't quite recommend it to businessmen but if you require the extra "punch" for desktop functionality, then this keyboard should be yours.
As a closing note, this keyboard is no longer manufactured by Microsoft and it is at its end of manufacturing status. However, many companies are still selling out their stock for a discounted price so grab it while you can!
I hope you have enjoyed my review.
In this book, the seventh book in the "Cato" serious, Young Cato and his friend Macro journeys to the lands of Judea, where they are faced with several challenges. The two friends are deployed by Narcissus, the Emperor's secretary, to listen in on events in the eastern frontier of the Roman Empire. The situation follows as senior officers are corrupt and threaten to undermine the safety of the Roman Empire. Unfortunately, an unforgiving local tribesman, Bannus, is giving the Romans even more of a hard time with his attempts to raise an army against the Roman soldiers posted at Judea. Bannus wants his revenge for the death of Jehoshua and the senior officers threaten to weaken the foundation of the army at Judea. Only Macro and Cato can stop them.
This book is a great book so far, although it is in a boring setting, the desert. I personally think the first book in the series was the best book I have ever read in the series. Nevertheless, Simon Scarrow has kept his good work up. As Cato and Macro get older and the story progresses, there is much less humour and it seems to be a war in the book every five minutes. I do enjoy historical fiction but it seems that the plots have become boring. I am desperate to finish this book and move onto the time when the two characters obtain the power of a Prefect.
However, I still fully recommend this book, only if you've read the predecessors in the series. I don't like this book, but it deserves a read. Three stars.
If you're reading this review, this is probably the best you are going to read on dooyoo.
The iPhone 4S is an amazing phone by standards. Made with a very appealing design, it features amazing, limitless functionality with the combination of the thousands of apps on the App Store plus the ultra-fast A5 processor. Not only is this a smartphone, but it is your gateway to the future - a neat and amazing "mini-tablet" by most standards.
Let me get this straight. You're going to see a LOT of mixed reviews on dooyou. However, I'm going to be rambling about more advantages than disadvantages.
Well, I'd rather not ramble since that would take up a few paragraphs. Instead, I'll give you a neat summary. The processor, graphics, recording and internet browsing on all types of connections are fast, reliable and powerful. The flashiness of the iPhone itself, not only attracts thieves but it will impress anyone within a close proximity to you so beware, iPhone devices make other people amazed.
Unfortunately, unlike lots of other phone manufacturers, the Apple iPhone 4S is a battery drain. It has enough battery to use 3G internet for up to five hours. After that, I recommend you get a portable charger or a charger-case. Also, the Bluetooth almost doesn't exist on the device. Connectivity problems for file sharing (iPhone to iPhone) are everywhere, although pairing to other devices aren't a problem.
I hope this (very) brief review helped. If you have a question to ask me, do leave a comment below isnce I am active more or less daily.
We do tons of activities on our iPhone devices, whether it be watching a movie, listening to music, playing a game or simply attempting to type up a few notes on the miniature keyboard. The functionality of the iPhone is amazing, but there is a main flaw. What is the flaw? It's the battery.
You may be in a store, looking at your shopping list or simply playing "Angry Birds". Unfortunately, (especially with the iPhone 4S,) you will get a huge battery drain.
Here's the solution from Mophie: The Mophie Juice Pack Air.
As a short summary of the Juice Pack Air, it is a device which essentially doubles your phone's life while keeping the iPhone's ability to sync and charge. However, there are a few flaws but first, I will start with the advantages. The case charges with a 1500 mAh battery.
The case itself is very aesthetically pleasing. It certainly does bring a smile to your eye. When using my white case with my white iPhone 4S, you could barely notice a colour difference between the case and the phone itself. As for the battery, it does what it says. Instead of buying a cheap case, you can go with Mophie's Juice Pack Air. While on standby mode, it has boosted me to 100% from 20% but be aware, you're probably going to get a less charge if you're using your iPhone while it is charging. Finally, the case is a two-piece case, meaning you just slide it in after lining it up in order to piece it together. Simple.
There is really more or less no negative points, except for this one. You must use a micro-USB cable to connect it to a computer or USB charger. If you are using a docking system, then you have no choice but to take the case off. However, the case's design is a functionality due to its simple detachment to take it off.
This case is a must have, seeing the excellent functionality and design. I rate this five out of five stars.
I hope you have enjoyed my review. :)
