Radox Moisture Soak
Calendula and Rose
This lightly fragranced bath soak (bubble bath) comes in a 500ml bottle which is enough for 6-8 baths depending how generous you are when pouring. The liquid is quite thick to pour and you can therefore control how much you use quite easily. It foams well under running taps and the bubbles last well.
I have dry skin and find that this product does not make it any worse (some foam baths leave me with very dry flaky skin) nor does it leave an oily residue either on me or around the bath. This makes cleaning the bath afterwards much less of a chore.
The standard cost of this 500ml bottle is currently approximately £1.90 (Tesco) but is quite often to be found as a special offer as a 2for1, or half price. My latest purchase was 90p at Wilkinsons.(12.2.2013)
The packaging is a clear plastic recyclable bottle , the label has a picture of Calendula flowers and Rose petals, and the liquid itself is pink, so it appears on the shelf as pink, with a pink lid. A pretty bottle to display in the bathroom, no need to hide it away in a cupboard.
Tesco Anti Dandruff shampoo
500ml for 99p
A thick viscous shampoo that is easy to control how much you use, it is very economical. It lathers well and often needs only one application and rinse to get clean shiny hair. I have found it good to control dandruff and general itchy scalp symptoms.
I have been using this shampoo for a couple of years now, on a regular basis every week, and it continues to perform well. Some other shampoos I have used I have become sensitive to after a while and needed to change, or at least vary their use with another, but this one seems to be one that does not have a cumulative effect for me. Nor do I find that there is a build up of residue to dull my hair. It is effective in removing hairspray or other products that I might use to keep a hairstyle in place (being involved in amateur theatre I sometimes have to create period hairstyles that require some very hefty applications of gel or heavy duty hairspray)
If you need to wash your hair daily this may be too strong a shampoo for you.
The 500ml bottle is easy to hold and use, with a flipup section to the top for dispensing the shampoo. It is made of plastic and is recyclable.
All in all this product is excellent value for money
Tesco Everyday value baked beans and pork sausages.
Contains baked beans in tomato sauce and approximately 8 small pork sausages (the size of cocktail sausages). The sauce is quite thin almost like tomato soup.
The tin requires a tin opener to open it (no ring pull) but I prefer this as I find ring pull cans difficult to open and am likely to cut my fingers on the edge of the lid when I try.
I buy this tin of beans and sausages as a quick economical meal for one. Emptied into a bowl and heated in the microwave for 2 minutes I can very quickly prepare a filling meal for myself.
If I were buying baked beans to have on toast or with jacket potato I prefer Heinz beans, as they have a much thicker and tastier sauce, but for a substantial meal in a bowl, with a slice of bread to soak up the thinner sauce, this is just right for me. I do eat a whole tin to myself, but that is as a main meal without any potatoes.
A 405g tin provides the following
Which is quite high in sugar, fat and salt, but as part of a balanced diet is still less than 30% of an adult's daily recommended allowance(except for the salt which is 40%) so as a main meal is not unreasonable.
The current price of this 405g tin is 40p as at 7.1.2013 and although it has gone up considerably in the last year is still good value.
6.0 megapixel - 3x optical zoom - 6.4 cm LCD screen - metal body.
I was given this camera as a present a couple of years ago, and find it excellent for a novice user. I have had a Vivitar digital camera previously and this was an upgrade for me. I wanted a camera with a decent macro feature as I mostly use it for taking pictures of articles for sale on Ebay some of which are small (although beautifully formed).
It has proved to be worth its price, taking consistently good quality photographs, even when I have had a shaky hand day. It has a simple menu and easy to use buttons. The battery life is fairly good and recharging takes a couple of hours, although its best to remember to check the state of the battery in between photo sessions and not find that you are all set up to take lots of photos only to discover that the battery has about 5 minutes of life left.
The menu of features is simple to use, with clear instructions. It warns you if you try to delete all the photos at once and it is easy to go back to a previous stage.
I haven't made very much use of the zoom function, preferring to get up close and use the macro or supermacro settings. The 6.4cm LCD screen is good for viewing your image and adjusting framing and cropping as you go. It also makes viewing your series of images quite easy, and will display 6 images at a time when you want to select those you wish to keep or erase.
A small quibble is that the clip to hold the battery in place is plastic and broke off quite early in use, so the battery now is only held in place by the outer cover, which sometimes means that it can lose connection during a photo session and needs to be fiddled with to re-connect.
