I suffered from Anorexia mostly through my teenage years, nowadays I am in my twenties and still suffering consequences.
I was always one of the tallest girls in class, not too tall but taller than the average girls. I grew up quicker than the other girls in my class too, I already wore a c cup bra at the age of 10. I always felt self concious that I was bigger than most girls and I felt uncomfortable.
I was always a fussy eater as a young girl but my mother always made sure I ate enough. At around 12 I stopped eating lunch at school, partly because I was shy and partly because I felt fat. I kept eating less to get thin. When I got back to school from summer holidays for my last year at secondary school, I remember some teachers were concerned mentioned to my sister that I looked pale and thin, as if I was sick. I was 14 turning 15 at this time. I would wake up at 7am took a cup of tea and sometimes 1 small biscuit which would keep me going through the whole day. Then I wouldn't eat anything at school, maybe just drink a little water if any. Then when I got home I would drink a cup of tea and in the evening I would get a bad headache and I wouldn't have the energy to do anything and get very bad headaches so sometimes I would just end up in bed. My mum would force me to eat something, and I would eat a little and feel sick.
At 15 I met a boy who told me I should go to an aerobics class, years later I got to know that he didn't mean to say I was fat ( I was curvy, UK size 10). I got worse after this. By the time I turned 16 I started a new school, and I was eating less each day. I would go for 2 hour walks/jogging each day. I tried to avoid meals as much as possible which involved a lot of lies to my parents. In mornings I was at school, so I didn't have trouble saying I ate when I didn't. During evening mealtimes, I would fill my mouth with food, and go to the bathroom and flush everything in the toilet. I would also put food in tissues and put in my pocket to throw away, eat a mouthful and leave the rest saying I was full up. I don't know how I managed to "hide" all that food everyday but I was so determined that I managed and my parents were talking or watching tv while eating so they didn't notice. It got easier when I started going out with my boyfriend certain evenings because I would tell my boyfriend I ate at home and tell my parents I ate out.
I kept getting sick all the time since I had no immune system. My hair started falling in clumps and I remember my cousin was shocked when he saw literally a large strand of hair coming off. My gums were sick
since I wasn't eating anything with vitamin c (I had scurvy symptoms) and if I had any scratches they would take ages to heal. My nails were fragile and stopped growing.
I was a UK size 6 or smaller and practically a walking skeleton. My ribs were showing and it hurt to sit down because I was nothing but bones. I would look in the mirror and see fat everywhere and see myself as very fat. I weighed 47kgs (I am 5'5). I would also see other people as fat, for example Geri Halliwell was really thin at that time, too thin and I would see her as very fat. It seemed through my eyes I could see nothing but fat. My mother kept trying to feed me or give me vitamins but I would throw away everything, lie, say I was eating out and say I was thin due to all the exercise. I was self concious wearing a bikini and I wouldn't wear certain clothes since I thought I was too fat.
Food for me was something disgusting and I regarded it as something not neccessary in life.
I kept getting sick more often but at one time I didn't want a doctor because he commented on how thin I was (he clearly saw I had a problem). I even fainted on several occasions. It was Christmas time and I had been sick with a bad cold for weeks and it wouldn't get better. I was 17 by this time. The one night I fainted and lost conciousness for quite some time. When I woke up, for a few minutes I couldn't remember who I was. I was in bed for several days and my mother kept making me chicken broth to get better. She said it would not make me fat and I was so scared after what had happened that I ate it.
I kept eating a little more each day until I started eating almost normally, with my mother's and boyfriend's help.
My new boyfriend loved food and his mother was a great cook who cooked lots of delicous food, and forced me to eat and I started to "like" food as if it was something I had just discovered. I never over ate and I was still exercising regularly. The thing was, since I had starved my body, my metabolism had slowed down a lot, and every little thing I ate would turn into fat ("real" fat this time). So I started gaining weight very quickly and nowadays I weigh over 30 kilos more and have a problem with being slightly overweight. From a UK size 4-6 I am a size 14-16. I still find it hard to lose weight especially since I can no longer exercise due to other health problems. I still don't eat too much but I keep gaining weight since my metabolism seems permanently slow. So now I have the opposite problem. The thing is when you're anorexic, its all in your mind and you really believe you are fat even though you're so skinny its ugly. It's all in the way you see yourself and I almost feel sorry for not realising what a great figure I had and how I could have worn any kind of clothes.
Still despite not being happy about my current figure, I hope I never go back to those times because I was lucky to get out of it before getting any more sick than I already was.
True Touch Mascara is another product by Neways, a company which does not add harmful chemicals into ingredients of its products.
As I used to have allergies on my eyelids, I am very careful which eye makeup to use, and since True Touch mascara is made from natural ingredients, I found it was the ideal product from me.
This mascara comes in a small white box, and the mascara wand itself is a silver cuboid shape, not round like most mascaras.
True Touch mascara not only thickens and lengthens your eyelashes but it also conditions them. It is also waterproof. To apply, ideally use True Touch mascara primer before (although not neccesarily), then just apply normally, giving a few strokes against your eyelashes. For a more dramatic look, wait for 1 minute until it dries a bit, and apply for a second time.
Personally I think this mascara has a nicer smell, because some mascaras have a weird smell but this one is similar only more pleasant.
To remove, use any eye make up remover and remove as you would remove normal eye makeup.
Neways True Touch Mascara comes in 3 shades; black, brown and navy.
This mascara has an expiry date, usually last for 1 year to 1 year and a half, which is not very long for someone who doesn't use make up regularly but some mascaras don't even have an expiry date on them and I prefer to know wheter the product I am using is really new or has been stored away somewhere.
Another disadvantage is that this product is expensive compared to other mascaras but if you want something made from good quality and have amazing eyelashes; this is the product for you.
I find this to be one of the best mascaras I have ever used, it makes my eyelashes look enormous and it is so quick and easy to apply. It almost looks as if my eyelashes have grown. My boyfriend even noticed the change and he normally doesn't notice anything about my makeup. Despite the price it is really worth it because of the amazing results.
Seborrhoeic Dermatitis is a type of eczema where you get itchy, red and flaky skin and dandruff in hair.
I have always had very sensitive skin and around 10 years ago I started getting bad "rashes" overnight on my face. My face would literally become red with very tiny spots sort of which would become one red/purple big thing which was really itchy. My skin was also flaky especially my scalp. It was a nightmare for me, I was still in school back then and despite trying to cover up with makeup, I felt that everyone stared at me and some girls asked me what was wrong with my face. The redness is not easy to cover with makeup. Itching only made it worse but sometimes it's unbearable.
I went to several skin specialist doctors and they said I have seborrhoeic dermatitis. One of the doctors gave me a cream to control the "excess sebum" which could be the cause of dermatitis. He also gave me a special shampoo. The second doctor said that the cause could be an allergic reaction.
I've noticed that it gets much worse in winter, I have a flaky scalp all throughout winter and it gets worse during March/April when I get a lot of redness/rash on my face, I guess due to change of weather and since its allergy season.
Since my dermatitis got really bad I went to another doctor which prescribed pills for my skin as well as another shampoo (Nizoral). The shampoo is effective but leaves your hair really dry and feeling almost like straw so I use a different shampoo for the ends.
I stopped taking the pills the doctor prescribed me because they had a lot of side effects and they weren't that effective.
Nowadays I use skin cleansing products which are natural and do not have harmful chemicals and although I still get a rash every now and then and dandruff throughout winter, rashes are much less frequent and my scalp is not so bad although at times I feel like crying.
My greatest fear is to wake up with a rash on my wedding day which is in a few months time and I really hope it won't happen.
I have always loved animals and since I was young we always had pets around the house. I would always cry when they died, wheter it was a bird, turtle or a hamster. But for me it was hardest when my cat died and then my dog.
We got this cat when I was only 4 years and we were practically raised together. She always slept in my bed and she was really intelligent. She would try to protect me if I had a fight with my sister or if I was hurt, she would come beside and try to comfort me. She was also very protective when I first brought my first boyfriend home. She sat in front of us as a "guard" and if he even held my hand or moved close to me, she was ready to jump on him as she thought he would harm me or something.
She was 16 and a half years old when we found a small lump on one of her breasts and we took her to the vet. The vet did some tests on her to see if he could remove the cancer, and while the cancer was curable, a lot of tests turned up badly; her kidneys and liver weren't working properly due to old age and the vet was amazed that she was still alive. The vet said we could bring her anytime to be put down since she wasn't going to live much longer. She lived for another month but in the meantime the cancer had worsened and she was really weak. She knew she was going to die so she spent the last 2 days on my bed and constantly by my side. It was the worst moment of my life to take her to the vet to be put down, but she died when he had only given her a sedation. She wouldn't have survived much longer even if we hadn't taken her to the vet.
I think its really a traumatic experience to take your pet to be put down, even though you're doing it for the best but you always believe there is hope and you feel guilty you "killed" your pet. I also feel guilty for taking her to the vet because its not as 'peaceful' as it would have been if she died at home but at the same time she was suffering a lot so it was the right thing to put her down, after all I did put her down because I loved her so much that I wanted to end her suffering. Although 5 years have gone by, I still miss her so much.
My second experience was when 2 years ago I adopted a dog from a dog's home. She was old and had a cancer but we took her to the vet for surgery and she was fine. Despite being old and sick we loved her and still adopted her, and she was really sad at the dog's home. Since she was a large dog (mixed breed) and was quite old, she had problems with her back legs and couldn't walk properly. She was too heavy for me to lift her on my own, so I would help her by lifting her from the waist backwards and she would walk on her front legs. We were vere patient with her because she was meant a lot of work for us, as she needed to be taken outside to do her needs very often and she was really heavy and sometimes she lost control and pooped in her bed or inside and made a mess so we were constantly cleaning up after her but I didn't mind because she seemed to appreciate everything we did for her and she knew what we were doing was to help her and she gave us back a lot of love. She died very suddenly a year after we brought her with a heart attack, it only lasted a second, and though it was painful for us, I'm very glad she had a quick death because she didn't feel any pain. I was not home when she died, my mother was with her. Before leaving home I had told her I'd be back soon so I would sit beside her while watching television, it was what I used to do on thursday nights and she would enjoy cuddling. I have no regrets that I adopted her, even though she meant a lot of work for me and I spent a lot of money at the vet, but I know I gave her the best last year of her life, as she had been so miserable at the dog's home and she gave us so much love in return. I really miss her too, I wish she could have spent her lifetime with us, but in a way I'm happy I gave her my best. Even though she had been with us for a year only, it felt like longer and I really became attached to her. She was the best dog anyone could have, she was so sweet.
Nowadays we have 3 cats, one we adopted when my cat died; we found her as a stray outside our home, and the other 2 I adopted when my dog died last year. I love them very much, but I still love my lost pets just as much. In the end what makes you feel better when you lose a pet is that you know you gave them the best you could and as much love as you could, and by getting another pet, you're not forgetting them, but especially if you adopt strays, you are helping someone else, even though at first its too heart breaking to get another pet. In the end, with all the love they give you, its worth it to give another pet a chance at a good life with you.
I have purchased from this website quite a few times and up till now I have always been pleased with my purchases.
This website offers a vast range of perfumes, cosmetics, skincare and hair products, accessories and gadgets at a good price. The clearance section has a great selection of low priced items, even as low as £1, where you can get some really good bargains.
I use this website mostly to purchase nail polishes because I found some really good offers such as buy one get one or two free. This website has a lot of offers, so if you browse through it well, you're bound to make some great purchases. There are also promotional offers, for instance on my last purchase, I got a free travel jewel case because I spent £20.
I am also subscribed to their newsletter, and although they don't send too many emails (which is good as they don't pester you), the few emails they send are worth to take a look at.
Shipping is slightly expensive but it depends on what you buy.
I am from outside UK and I never had any problems with this website. My items were always delivered quite quickly and I highly recommened this website for anyone who wants to make a good bargain.
Simple Conditioning Eye Make Up Remover is my favourite make up remover and I have been using it for quite a while.
This product comes in a transparent bottle with a green tap and has a small hole for the product to come out from. This make up remover is a transparent liquid and fragrance free, which looks and feels exactly like water. To use it, you dab a little of the product onto cotton wool and wipe across your eye makeup. You may need more than one wipe to remove all your makeup and for heavier makeup maybe even two pieces of cotton wool. It is even effective on waterproof mascara.
I really like this product because it doesn't leave any residue behind unlike some other makeup removers which are more creamy. It is almost as if you cleansed your eyes with water.
This product is suitable for sensitive eyes as it doesn't irritate your eyes or skin at all. I think is also safe for contact lens users.
Simple products are quite cheap to buy and often there are buy 1 get 1 free or similar offers.
I have been using this product for around 10 years now and for me its the best hair removal cream spray for my legs.
This product comes in a spray can and a plastic palette. A few years back it used to come with a small sponge instead of the palette.
There are different types of spray, one for normal skin and one for sensitive skin. I prefer to buy the one for sensitive skin but I've never had any problems with either sprays except that I do feel a little tingling after applying it.
The spray comes out as a white foam, which you need to cover the whole area you want the hair removed from. You need to leave the spray on for 5 minutes up to 10 minutes. Personally I find 5 minutes is a bit too short for all the hair to be removed so I leave it on for 8-10 minutes which is enough for all the hair to go.
Unfortunately the spray, as most hair removal products, doesn't have a very nice smell.
The spray works by weakening the hair until its so fragile it fall off when you scrape it off by the palette. Then you need to wash the area well, especially since it doesn't smell very good and I apply a lot of soap to take the smell off. When you're ready, this product leaves your skin quite soft.
Since I've been using this product for quite a number of years, I've noticed that it helps to reduce hair growth. This product is quick and easy to use although it can be a bit messy. You really need to bear the smell though because it is quite unpleasant.
Everyone wishes to have more money and there comes a time when you are broke. These are a few simple tips I would like to share which help you save a bit more money.
My first saving tip is samples. They are all around you. Several website send free samples to most countries.
You can subscribed to several newsletter which keep updated about special offers and free stuff. There are even website which keep you up to date with "10 freebies of the day", just keep an eye open and you'll find lots of free stuff around you. Also keep an eye out for vouchers.
While shopping, look out for special offers, for example buy 2 get one free but keep this "rule" in mind, do not buy to get the offer, just buy the item if you really need it and you're going to use it. Never buy more than you need, always buy what you're going to use. For example if you stock up too much on food and don't use it, remember it can expire. Same goes for other stuff, if you buy stuff you don't need and just leave it there is a waste. Ideally make a shopping list before going shopping and stick to it.
Plan ahead and buy birthday presents during sales and if you can, christmas presents as well.
Save on electricity bills by for example if you are using a geyser to heat water, try to schedule that the whole family has a bath or shower in the evening for example one after the other if possible not during different times of the day so that you only need to turn it on for a short while before you all wash instead of leaving it switched on for a whole day. Also, switch off any lights when you leave the room.
Take a packed lunch with you, eating your lunch out everyday is much more expensive.
Reduce , Reuse and Recyle whatever you can.
Resell any stuff you don't need. Take a look around the house and see what you don't want. Doing a car boot sell will not make you rich but every little helps.
If you are in really tight money situation where you really need to save, don't go out eating at restaurants, go to a picnic instead. Food you prepare yourself is much cheaper.
If you are looking to buy something in particular, look online. You will find there is quite a range of prices. Even clothes can be found on ebay which are new with tags and at bargain prices.
I am getting married in a few months time and I've been thinking a lot before taking this decision. In my country we didn't have divorce until around a month ago when the law passed and still its not easy and there are many laws which wouldn't make it worth it.
I believe marriage is not outdated and still important in a relationship. But a successful marriage is full of sacrificies and all about committment , respect and communication.
I think that if you are married to someone, it shows that you are more committed to your partner. If you have an argument and decide to leave in the spur of the moment and you're married, you would think twice, its easier if there are "no strings attached". I think its like a more concrete "contract" between you and your partner that shows your committment to each other.
Of course people have different opinions and some are just happy to stay in long term relationships without marrying and its fine, and the most important thing is that you love and respect your partner.
Marriage is not something light, its something serious and not a quick decision to take. You have to be ready to give more than take, its hard and you have to be ready for committment. I think many people just get married because they know if something goes wrong they can divorce and its easy way out. It's also easier than trying to solve your problems and save your relationship which is not the way one should look at marriage.
I've also noticed that lots of girls who are getting married (I've noticed this from some of my friends and work mates) become obsessed with their wedding, with the day, their dress and preparations that they forget the real reason why they're getting married, they don't know what to expect from marriage and they don't realise that their wedding day will be over quickly and the "wedding day" is not your married life.
I think for kids its also good that their mum and dad are married and they have a traditional family although single parents can also be the best parents.
I think getting married is a big step in a person's life and you have to be prepared for it.
I had heard about nail effects nail polishes but never really knew how they worked, I had just seen pictures of the results. I watched a demo of barry m instant nail effects and I immediately looked up online to purchase one immediately.
To apply this nail polish you have to apply a nail polish underneath, preferably a bright colour to get a good contrast. Personally I think it works best with bright pink, white or turquoise. After the first one or two layers of nail colour is completely dry (I would prefer to wait a little more to make sure the base nail polish is completely dry otherwise your results will be ruined. Then apply a layer of barry m instant nail effects nail polish and the "magic" works before your eyes. I've noticed that depending on how thick you apply the layer of barry m nail effects nail polish, the different results. The "cracks" are smaller and less apart if you apply a thinner layer, but I find that a thicker layer provides a better look. When dry it feels like rubber so it needs a top coat.
What I don't like about this product is that it leaves a sort of faint black residue where the cracks are formed of the base colour and it makes it look a bit dull.
I would recommend this product to anyone who wants something different for their nails which is quick and easy to do, but for those who have the patience and love to do their own nail art, I recommend you take out
your nail art brushes and do some nail art yourself!
I love nail polish and my nails are constantly changing colour every couple of days. The first time I tried this nail polish was because I fell in love with the shade of colour of a particular bottle of nail polish. It was just the shade of purple I wanted.
Rimmel nail polishes are at a reasonable price and they are quite good quality for their price. Rimmel Lycra Pro Nail Polishes come in a variety of bright colours in lovely shades which you are sure to fall in love with. I currently have 8 of these nail polishes, one of my favourites being called "Urban Purple"
One coat of this nail polish is enough unlike some which you need to apply 2 or 3 coats to get a good colour. It is also quite quick drying as although I love nail varnish I don't have the patience to wait for it to dry. The brush is a "maxi brush" which is thick and more easy to apply.
Although this nail polish doens't chip quite easily, it doesn't last too long either, especially if you don't use a top coat to protect it. Despite this, I must say that this product is a must have in your nail polish collection, as its quite worth it for its price.
After trying out tigi bedhead curls shampoo and conditioner which did miracles to my hair I had to try out the Curls Amplifier to go with them. I have very frizzy wavy/curly dry hair and I used to use a lot of hair gel and hair products to make my curls look decent and sometimes they still frizz after a short while. My friend told me that Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock Amplifier would do miracles too so I tried it and it really does miracles.
This product used to come in a white and blue pump container but recently they changed the container to black and metallic green which inmy opinion looks better. It still has a pump and one pump is just enough for all your hair (even with very long hair one or two pumps are enough).
The product is white in colour and smells like sweets too (similar smell to Tigi Bedhead Curls Shampoo & Conditioner) and leaves your hair smelling good. To apply it, first I brush my hair after washing it and then I rub a small amount onto my hands and apply to my hair and leave it to dry naturally. A diffuser to dry it quickly can also be used if you prefer.
If you do not want to wash your hair again the next day, most of the time the curls still look great and without any frizz but you can easily add some water to your hands and apply it to rearrange your hair and it doesn't leave any white flakes as some hair products do.
I would recommend browsing online before purchasing. I've noticed it is quite more expensive to buy from hair dressers and it is much cheaper online although you still find a range of prices. There are special offers quite often with Tigi products so I try to purchase when there are offers. Since you do not need to use a lot of product it lasts quite a long time, even if you use it daily (as I do) and its quite worth it.
I highly recommend this product because it does miracles on frizzy curly hair.
I love eyeliner and i never leave the house without. In fact most of my friends have never seen me without eyeliner.
I have used eyeliner for years and tried different brands and I used to get an allergic reaction on my eyes. I have experienced this with 2 different brands of eyeliner. I decided to try the body shop liquid eyeliner since I heard from somewhere they don't have harmful mineral salts in their makeup so I thought I'd give it a try. I have been using this eyeliner ever since and it has been around 8 years now. I always keep an extra one just in case I run out of it but even though I use it practically every day, the bottle is quite long lasting.
The eyeliner is easy to apply even though it has a thick applicator but I find that easier to manage. It also quite long lasting and dries quickly therefore less smudges. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to try out liquid eyeliner.
I heard about Neways about a year ago when my mother's cousin came over from Australia. She has been a Neways distributor for years. After hearing about their products and trying some of them out, I decided
to become a distributor myself. I have been using quite a lot of their products for the past year.
Neways is a company which has started over 20 years ago and sells a whole range of products including health and beauty, and household cleaning products which are chemical free.
You can buy their products through distributors or through their website Neways.com.
Most products we buy off the shelf contain harmful chemicals which are absorbed into our skin and may cause skin irritations such as eczema as well as other health problems.
Neways does not have any of this harmful ingredients in their products.
I have been using Neways NewBrite Hand & Dish soap for the past year and I've noticed that my hands are really soft even after washing the dishes, whereas previous products even though they were supposed to "protect" your hands still caused dryness or eczema to my hands.
NewBrite Hand & Dish Soap is not scented and produces a little less lather compared to other detergents.
For best results it is ideal to soak your dishes in warm water with NewBrite Hand & Dish soap for a short while before washing up and leaves all your dishes and glassware sparkling clean.
The first time I smelled this perfume was around 4 years ago when I got this perfume as a birthday gift from my boyfriend. I fell in love with the smell of this sweet, sexy perfume instantly and I have been purchasing this perfume ever since. I love to use this perfume for everyday use but it is ideal for any occasion. The packaging of this perfume is an all in a bright pink squarish box and the pink bottle is a little unusually shaped, egg shaped sort of but with flattened sides.
I would highly recommend this perfume to anyone who likes sweet yet sharp and sexy perfumes but always try a sample of any perfume before purchasing. Unfortunately, after few hours have gone by, the smell of this perfume is mostly gone, which is a pity, but eau de toilette is always less strong than eau de parfum.
