I saw this in my local chemist and thought id give it a try as the colours all looked so pretty and it was only £1. It comes in range of fruity shades such as fresh lemon, red raspberry, green apple and tropic glaze, i went for the fresh cherry shade.
The packaging is very plain, it comes in a see-through tube so you can see the glosses colour and when you look at it properly its very cheap and tacky looking but to be honest i don't what else you could expect from something that is only a pound.. I found it very easy to apply you literally just squeeze the tube lightly and the gloss comes out, it both feels and looks smooth on your lips and it gave them a subtle hint of colour. One thing i really need to mention as this will be a sell point for some but a break point for others is the glitter, it's extremely glittery more so than you would think just by looking at the tube and for me it's far to glittery for daytime use but it looks great for a night out, it's definately something to bear in mind! The only disapointment is that it does get very sticky after about half an hour and after a full hour it has usually disapeared leaving a faint glitter residue but no colour, for the price i'd say that was a given really. Finally i think the best thing about it is it both smells and tastes great! Literally sometimes I struggle not to lick it all off! And i think for a pound it's worth buying for that alone, i shall make my way through them one by one.
I first bought this in black last year when crackle effect nails were all the range, The Barry M one was the obvious choice for me as it is my go-to high street brand.
First of all you roll the bottle between the palms of your hands (This is instead of shaking it, it helps to prevent air bubbles) then you paint your nails a hot colour and let them completely dry, then you paint the crackle over it. When i first bought this i remember finding it quite tricky to apply but i soon got the hang of it! Basically the problem is that it dries very quickly and you need to really either cover the whole nail in one stroke or be really careful not to overlap the strokes otherwise you wont get an even effect across all the nails. Don't be put off, it does get easier after after a few gos! The effect comes out quite thick so you only need a minimal amount of varnish and pressure.
I have since bought it in white (looks great over pastel varnishes) and gold (great with every colour!)
and they all look just as amazing as most the more expensive versions out there, especially if you paint a glossy topcoat over it! Also even without a topcoat it lasts around 3days chip-free.
I personally think it's a complete bargain! Why spend out on more expensive brands when the cheaper version is this good?
Up until two weeks ago i had been using a standard £5 Tesco value kettle, it was nothing fancy but it did the trick, then the lid snapped off.
I decided to look for a nice red kettle so it would match the theme of my kitchen and i eventually chose this Morphy Richards one as it was such a well-known brand and it had a limescale filter (I live by the sea so I get very hard chalk water, this meant I had to use anti-limescale tablets in my old kettle every week.)
The first thing i noticed when i used it was that the lid doesn't open very far, the instructions in the box actually say to pour water in using a spout but I think that's just needless hassle because as long as you're careful you can still fill it straight from the tap. It is big enough to boil water for up to 8 cups of tea, you can clearly where the water level is from the outside and the base has a handy cord storage feature to help keep the kitchen side clutter-free!
Personally I think for £30 this was a bargain, it's a massive change from my old value one and i certainly won't be going back.
I'll be honest i'm not a big fan of pop-up brushes I find them fiddly and they break easily but my friend recently became an Avon rep so i bought a quite a few things to help her get started, this was one of them as it was only £1.00 in the summer sale catalogue, when it arrived i popped it in my handbag and forgot about it.
A few weeks later it surprisingly came in handy, there i was moaning about needing a hairbrush and not having one when i remembered i had this beauty in my bag! It has a smooth red casing, it's very easy to use just open it and poke the back of the bristles so they pop up, it also has a little mirror inside, you can't see much in it but it is clear and slightly magnified so it does the trick!
The bristles aren't very strong so don't expect to be able to plough through knots and tangles but it's such a handy size to be able to just have in your handbag and for that price you really can't go wrong!
I usually use 'simple' toner but when my last bottle ran out i thought i'd look for something new and as Nivea is one of my prefered facial care brands i chose this one!
It was quite cheap, I got a good sized bottle for about £4.00 from boots and it is from Niveas Visage range which is meant to be gentle on the skin (Very important to me as i have quite sensitive skin.)
I cleansed my face and then applied this with a cotton pad, it went on very easily and didn't sting or feel harsh on my skin like toners often can, it also smells lovely - really fresh. I left it on for just under a minute and then washed it off with cotton pads, it was easy to remove it only took two cotton pads.
My skin was left feeling fresh and revitalised with no residue or anything left behind.
Overall i would recommend this product to anyone looking for a gentle toner on a budget.
This is a classic Rockstar game, and Rockstar games do not disapoint!
It is set in an old-style school and the town around it and is immense fun! You can attend lessons such as art, science and music (fun mini-games) which teach you skills and eventually give you new items to use in the game. There are a whole range of missions from infiltrating the girls dorm to dunking geeks in trash cans and helping your teachers go on dates! You can travel around on bikes and skateboards and use your typical schoolyard pranks such as stink bombs and catapults. It is also very fun to let a prefect or policeman catch you out of lessons in school hours and try to get away from them. You can earn money by doing jobs including getting a paper round or cutting grass and there is even a degree of customisation as you can buy different clothes and haircuts, there is a lot of detail is this game, the seasons change and in winter it snows which affects how it feels to skateboard or ride your bike and at Halloween they have special missions. There are lots of mini-games inbetween the story like races, carnival games and a fun 'sumo computer game'.
Overall i would say there is something for everyone in this game and it has a lovely nostalgic feel it.
I saw this in Superdrug a few months ago and I had to try it out simply because it's only £1 !
I bought it in shade 2 as i have quite pale skin but it came in a choice of 4 shades ranging from light to very dark. I wear a tinted moisturiser instead of a foundation and i applied this over it, ( A lot comes off on the brush so i would suggest blowing or shaking the brush lightly before you put it on your skin. ) I got a light, even coverage and the powder left my skin feeling very smooth.
The packaging looks clean and smart, there is a clear ingredients list on the back and the powder doesn't spill out or anything. It doesn't come with a brush/sponge but for £1 you wouldn't really expect it to!
It doesn't give you full coverage and because of how cheap it is I suspect the ingredients aren't the most natural or particularly good for your skin in the long run but for the price it is amazing value and is perfect for a bit of light coverage.
Lancomes Juicy tubes are the original and still the best, they have been around for over 10 years and they are still outselling the copycats!
There are many great things about them and only one bad, I will kick it off with that;
They are very sticky and therefore if your wearing one on a windy day, be prepared to have your hair stuck to your lips! On the other hand they are long lasting, most of them taste and smell heavenly and there are so many to choose from! The shades range from caramels, pinks, reds, plums and even pastel greens and blues which actually come out clear but smell gorgeous! Some of them even have glitter in!
My personal favourites are strawberry sorbet, violette and fulido. I am more a lipstick than gloss person myself but these are such a delight to wear that i always choose these when going for a gloss.
They are quite expensive but long-lasting so they're worth the money, there are also lots of gift sets constantly being released which contain a range of shades in smaller 7ml tubes.
The standard packaging is lovely and very simple but there are lots of limited editions released with all different pretty packaging designs (One collection worth mentioning is the Christopher Kane world tour in which they collaborated with the legendary designer himself to create an iconic range inspired and named after countries all over the world such as Paris, Rio and Tokyo.) I have the marshmallow electric shade which has a silver attachment on the top to attach to a key ring, it came with a heavy silver mirror in a black velvet case!
If you are looking to spend a bit more than average on a long-lasting, fun and great quality lipgloss then i would recommend you try one of these, there is a shade for everyone!
I think false eyelashes are perfect to get a glam look for a night out but i usually use one's where you apply the glue yourself, I decided to try pre-glued ones because it sounds quicker and easier than the sort l'm used to. I chose Eylure in particular because i have used their eyelashes before just not pre-glued ones, also they have partnered up with celebrities including girls aloud, katy perry and more recently the sex and the city cast!
Supposedly you should use tweezers to pick the lashes off the plastic tray they come on and apply it straight onto the lash line, I didn't do that i used my fingers as i don't like the sound of a pair of tweezers being that close to my eye! I had to cut them down to size a little bit but the application was very easy i simply pressed them along my lash line and Voila! Done.
I wore them for a few hours that day around the house and they were comfortable and didn't come loose, i then put them back on the plastic casing and in the box to worn another time.
I wore them again several days later on a night out, they still looked in a new condition and the glue was still sticky and they felt firmly attached. About 3 or 4 hours into the night one of them started to flick up in the inner corner of my lash line which irritated my eye a little, luckily i had brought my tube of lash glue out with me just to be on the safe side so it glued the corner back on they remained fine for the rest of the night.
Personally i find the ones where you apply your own glue to last longer but these were a lot quicker, very comfortable and they did last for quite a while so they are definately worth trying.
I change my shampoo regularly purely because i enjoy trying out there effects and smells, i decided to try this one partly because i have very long hair which i straighten daily and dye so my hair isn't in the best condition and partly because the girls in the Pantene adverts always have such perfect, shiny hair!
It has a fresh, subtle floral scent to it and I only needed to use a small amount for it to lather up nicely.
It washes out easily enough and my hair actually seemed to dry quicker than usual (i let my hair dry naturally) although im not sure if that was due to the shampoo or the fact that it was quite a hot day?
I wouldn't say that my hair was 'repaired' but i have now been using it for 2-3 weeks and it does feel softer and healthier. It claims to repair split ends, unfortunately it doesn't but it does make them a little less visible for the rest of the day. This shampoo is worth the price but isn't a luxury price so don't expect a luxury product!
Overall I would say this shampoo had a light, nourishing feel to it and smells nice but I will continue on my shampoo journey when the tube runs out.
In my opinion this is the best all round, affordable moisturiser that there is!
This was actually the first moisturiser i ever used as my mother also uses it, it has been around since 1911 and has been trusted by generations of women. It is a very natural formula that is free from preservatives and other harsh, synthetic ingredients that are found in so many skincare brands today.
It is a thick, white cream that rubs in smoothly and really makes you feel wrapped in moisture without leaving behind any greasy residue. It smells lovely but not floral or citrus just a really nice moisturiser smell. I use it all over my body and even as a night cream on my face, i tend to get dry skin on my forehead after i have washed my hair but this clears it up overnight! A great tip that i use is also to put a layer on my eyelashes after taking mascara off before i go to sleep, it really softens your eyelashes and if you do it every 2/3 days it actually seems to helps them grow longer! (You cant do this with many other moisturisers because most have chemicals and oils that would irritate your eyes) It is a very reasonable price and a pot lasts quite a while also because it comes in a pot not a tube you don't have to fuss around cutting open tubes to get the last of it out, you just scoop it straight out the pot!
Dry shampoo is a great way to pep up your hair in between washes or when you're in a rush.
It's not healthy to wash your hair everyday but everything from hair products to hot baths / showers can cause it to get a greasy look, Batiste dry shampoo sorts that out in seconds. About a year ago i had an operation that meant i couldn't wash my hair for two weeks, as you would imagine, this was a complete lifesaver!
It is so easy to use simply section your hair and spray at the roots, then when you've done four or five sections put your hair back how you want it and zigzag your fingers through it lightly, voila rejuvenated hair!
I have been using the original version of this for a few years now and loved it so i had to try this cherry one when it came out.
It comes out white when you first spray it almost like talcum powder but don't be put off, that disapears as you brush your fingers through it when you're done. It smells lovely, not to strong just a subtle hint of cherry and freshness. It works just as well as the original version and lasts all day unless its a sweltering hot day (Not much chance of that in England) and is very reasonably priced, the only downside is the can doesn't last very long but still it's a great product and one of my staple buys.
This game is based on the composer Chopins last moments as he is on his deathbed drifting between this world and the next. It is a classic RPG and one of my personal favourite games, and it is actually the meaning behind my username!
You start of flicking between the stories of two main characters, chopin and a girl named polka, as you go on you meet new characters which join your group and you follow together ( This game follows a lovely musical theme from characters names such as allegretto, salsa and falsetto. It also has fun music - related mini games and references throughout. ) It has a fun turn taking fighting style and you learn exciting new moves as you level up, there is a small degree of customisation in this as you can buy different clothing and weapons with all have different perks and effects from travelling salespeople and in villages, there you can also buy items to help in battles with effects such as restoring health, powering up your attacks and bringing teammates back to life. The cut scenes make a brilliant story and i always enjoyed watching them but some of them are quite long and if that's not your thing you can easily skip them.
You cannot save whenever you like there are designated save points dotted around the map which appear as glowing crystals. The graphics aren't top of the range but they fit the game well, the characters have been made in a cute anime style and the scenery is detailed and enchanting. There is such a variety of the creatures you fight and they are all very imaginative, it is always exciting to discover a new opponent! One piece of advice i can give about this game is not to rush through it, take your time leveling up because the bosses are fun but can be very tough if you are not prepared, for example, i got to a chapter about halfway through the game where you go onto a pirate ship, it warned me that once i crossed over to the ship i could never go back, i should have left it until i had leveled up more but i didn't, i went across unprepared, it was physically impossible to beat the boss and as a result had to restart the entire game, i also know two other people who made that same mistake so be warned!
Like i said before, this is one of my all time favourite xbox games and i would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, interesting RPG but DO NOT RUSH IT!
I decided to buy a coffee machine because i love real coffee, i cant stand instant coffee and was fed up with having to go to starbucks for a decent cup.
I chose this one partly because it was on offer ( It retails around £60 i bought it for £40 ) but also because it looks stylish, is a good size which wont take up to much room in my already over cramped kitchen and Kenwood was brand i had heard a lot about so i figured it would be good.
The machine was easy to assemble and came with clear instructions, It is very simple to use just pour water, scoop in the coffee, press a button and wait! It only takes about 5 minutes to make and it tastes great, it makes it the perfect temperature and doesn't come with the slightly burnt taste that i have tasted from several of my friends coffee machines. It is also very quiet.
The jug is non drip which is always handy and there is even a designated area on the top where you put your cup and it warms it up!
Although it looks compact it easily makes 4 large cups and it stays warm in the jug for about an hour.
I would be happy with this even if i had paid the full price and would definately recommend it but bare in mind you can find it cheaper so its worth having a look around, don't just buy it from the first place you see it.
I have an arcade xbox and wanted to have access to all the fun aspects which you would expect to be able to, including downloading arcade / indie games from the xbox live market aswell as DLC, demos and videos etc. Rediculously the arcade only has about a quater of a GB so i couldn't download or install anything it was almost pointless. Then I was lucky enough to be given the 120GB hard drive (they retail at around £30/£40, sounds expensive but well worth it!) I now have over 20 arcade games downloaded, uncountable amounts of indie games and around 8 disk games including massive ones such as skyrim and still have plenty of room left for more.
There is no hassle to install it, simply slot it into the top of the xbox and it works!
Some people may already have a smaller hard drive without enough space but are worried they will lose all their data? No worries, It comes with microsofts data transfer kit which very straightforward and easy to use. It takes all your data from your previous hard drive and deposits it on the new one.
I would recommend anyone with an arcade xbox, or just with a smaller amount of memory to buy this hard drive it really will add to your xbox experience.
