Mylot got quite a few negative reviews, but I like it and although I agree there is no money to be made it can be fun.
Mylot is a website which allow you to post questions, visrtually any question.
You need to sign up and i must say I never got any email from them, they are very good with this, no worries about unwanted spam or things like that.
Once you are a member, I suggest you upload some pics of you, there are clearly many fake profiles with pics of models, but also many genuine folks.
You get a bit of money if people look at your pics.
Money are paid in proportion to the number of people who replies to your questions, you do not get money for answering other people questions.
We are talking about cents.
I recently got 9 replies to 2 different questions i entered and got 2 cent for it!
Earnings are updated once a day, normally around lunch time USA time.
I am not a member for the money, so far I managed to make less than 3 Dollars and I have been a member for 2 years.
i do log in from time to time, some time you end up chatting or liasing with interesting people.
Yahoo.co.uk is the home page for the British version of the very popular and well known portal yahoo.com
The UK version has got news relating to UK and overall local content.
I like the news from Yahoo, some of them are actually from reuters.
Another feature I like is the search engine. Although Google is meant to be better, I actually found that many times Yahoo is more accurate or any way responds better to my needs than Yahoo. Due to the nature of my second business, I need to outsource many items and I find that Yahoo is as useful as Google.
The email service is also good, it is free, and it has been in beta test for ages. I still use the old version, which is slicker, less prone to freeze my PC and more intuitive.
There is also a very goos section on yahoo finance, which i actually intend to rate and comment separately.
Gumtree describe themselves as a community, but in actual fact they are an online market place where you can place adverts for free.
The only category which is not for free, is the one where you look for employees, in which case you can post an advert for 25 Pounds.
The website is very easy to navigate and there are plenty of categories. Once you have pulled up www.gumtree.com just look at the main page and look for what you are interested in.
I have used Gumtree to find partners with whom to exchange languages and to look for accomodation.
My experience is good, although it seems that many men pretend to want to learn a language, when in fact they are trying to hook up with some girls.
In terms of advertizements for accomodation, there is a very good offer and you need to be fast. I suggest that if you look for accomodation, you start calling when you can go and view the place.
The search engine is also good and reliable and quite accurate.
I fly very often from Luton, which I find very user friendly and well connected
to central London. Normally I get there from Farringdon train station, from
where trains depart every 15 - 20 minutes on average, at least during they day.
Once I arrive at luton airport parkaway train station, I need topay an extra Pound on top of the 9.90 I paid from Farringdon, in order to board the shuttle to the airport.
There is only one terminal, with few shops, including a Marks and Spencer which
is very handy if you land at Luton during the day.
Security is strict on the number of luggage you can take past passport control,
only 1 bag and staff are there to monitor and enforce it. Once past passport control there are few sitting areas and few shops as well, including Boots.
Luton is surely a compact regional airport and it is easy to find your way around it
Halifax, or HBOS, as they are called these days, is one of the largest banks in UK.
I am one of their clients. I do not have my salary paid into them, but I have a couple of saving accounts. Recently I was attracted into one of their branches by their current promotion for a high yield saving account, one of those accounts where you put a certain amount of money every month, for 12 months.
When I asked to open the account , I was sent from the till to a row of desks, where after 5 minutes waiting a fatty bloke arrived, inftrouding himself to me by his first name and giving me his hands as if he were Borat in one of his hi5 tricks.
The bloke told me that he would have to refer me to one of his colleagues, because they had better options for me in store. I waited an extra 5 minutes and I was escorted to the room of Sean, who tried to sell me investment Isas and other crap (forgive my French) His logic was that if markets go down, it works in my favour, before I can put money into the account every month and thus lower the average cost. I told him I was not interested and finally he released me.
Back to the fatty guy, he told me I could not have the high interest account, because I have already one, which is true, but is paying less. Finally, with some subtle innunedos from my side to the Financial Authority and how they would consider HBOS tactits, the account I wanted to open was open. The fatty boy was clearly showing his dislike for me, and when I left he gave me his hand in the same way Borat gives his hand to Jewish people in the movie.
In my opinion and experience Globaltestmarket.com is if not the bets, surely amongst the best websites for on line surveys.
I have already cashed in $100 with them, and very soon I will cash in 50 more.
All this in about 2 years. If you like the idea of filling in online surveys, I think this si surely one of the best and they pay, this is for sure.
Because they are an American company, you accrue points with are equal to Dollars. 1,000 points is 50 dollars.
I have read that some people get screened out very frequently, personally I did not experience this. I also read that few people actually want or try to be screened out (however, I am not sure how) to cash in the 5 points they give youo anyway for participating.
I am of the odl school, I click to the end.
In honesty I did not always check or care what I checked, one thing I learnt is that if one day I have my company, I will never use an online survey company, the results are random, very few people care.
I learnt and found out about Onepoll on Dooyoo.
Onepoll is in my view an undiscovered gem and if you like to make few pennies every day, and off course you have some time for it, you will not be disappointed.
Everyone over 18 years old who is resident in UK can become a member of this website by going to www.onepoll.co.uk and creating a login there.
The simple fact of registering is enough to have 2.50 Pounds credited to your account. There is no verification process involved and you can click on the blue section with Polls, and fill in the available surveys.
You can also refer 5 friends and earn an additional Pound. The first day you should be 5 Pounds richer by the end of all this. Surveys are on any possible topic, I just filled one on disaster holidays.
They pay very little, some of them as little as 5 cents, and so far none earned me more than 15 pennies. On the home page Onepoll boast that you can make up to one Pound.
You will be able to cash in when you have totalled 40 pounds. I have not reached that figure yet. On average each week I make at least 1 Pound.
As with many similar websites, sign up, start filling in, and wait until you reach the payout target.
Myvoice is a survey website which rewards those who fill in their surveys with anything between 10 pennies and 1 Pounds.
You can sign up at www.myvoice.co.uk The registration is quite simple and they do not seem to bother too much asking you many personal questions as other website seem to do.
You will need an email address also because invitations to the surveys are sent to you via email.
Most surveys pay around 40-50 pennies. They are usually quite fast to fill in, normally shorter than other surveys' from similar websites.
Myvoice used to be a good website, but they have lost some large clients and these days send very few surveys.
Expect 1 survey very 1-2 months, not more. Once you reach 20 Pounds, you can redeem your money for a voucher from any of the high Street companies, they have a large list.
Worth signing up for the long term.
Waitrose is really a pleasant place to shop.
They have a reputation for being more expensive than Tesco, but personally I do not see a great difference, particularly when you take the good quality of Waitrose products into consideration.
I visit more often the Waitrose close to my office, but I also go to the one which is not far from my home address. Both of them are very well kept, and the items on display are all of good quality.
One of the things I like about Waitrose is that they seem to bring to UK some European brands or products which I have not seen at Asda, Tesco nor Sainsbury's.
In addition to this, I always look out for any discounted good at Waitrose, particularly on their meals, because they tend to discount them quite regularly in order to maintain fresh food on display.
There is only one thing I miss, compared to Tesco, and this is the wide range of own products, which are surely a great bargain!
I discovered Skype few years ago and since then I can say I use it virtually every day.
What is Skype?
Skype is a piece of software that you can easily install into your own PC from www.skype.com It was created by 2 young Estonian chaps who are now multi millionaires.
There are 37 million people in the world using Skype and what the software does, it basically enables conversation between users completely free. You only need to have an Internet line. In addition to free calls between Skype members, it is also possible to make calls to any landline or mobile number, but you will need to pay for it. Charges for calls to landlines are cheap, but to mobiles are not that cheap.
You can also do video calls if you have a webcam on your PC and you can chat.
How reliable it is?
It is quite powerful and surely reliable. Once you have installed the software you will be able to search for other contacts by their Skype name and add them to your list. You will then press the option call, and call them. There is an option to see if they are on line or not.
I recommend Skype to everyone who has friends abroad and wants to keep in touch.
The Evening Standard is the most read daily newspaper in London and Greater London. It is a newspaper which cost 50 pennies and in my opinion is really worth tis money and is the only newspaper I regularly buy and read in UK.
I think that although it is a local newspaper, the fact that it covers International affiars and also the fact that it has a good set of journalists covering the economy and reporting from the City, makes it more of a national newspaper.
In the West End you can buy it from Midday until 11-12pm, there are 5 different publications during the day and it only comes out Monday to Friday.
Each day there is a different supplement and there are many sections in the regular paper. I love the section on the economy, together with the Financial Times, it has many articles I have used in the past when I was teaching English abroad.
Yougov is a website where you can make money for answering surveys.
It is easy and fast. I receive invitations to surveys via email, which is useful to me, however, I could also check on their website. I did not get any unsolicited mail from them, nor spam and I have no reason to believe that they sold my email details either
They are mainly of either political or social nature, with few surveys of commercial nature. They mainly pay 50p to complete, the most I had was 1.50 once and few surveys for 1 Pound. Many people fill in surveys at random, just to make money, however I tend to be accurate because some of these surveys actually end up being quoted on the national newspapers and can influence other people. The frequency is about 2-3 per month. Some surveys do not pay money, but only give you the chance to enter a prize draw. These are a bit annoying!
DO THEY PAY?
I know that many people have been paid. Unfortunately I have not reached the 50Pounds mark. Payment is via a cheque. I think it will take more than one year before I get paid.
They have an interesting referral scheme, if you refer anybody, you will earn the same amount as that person in the first 3 months. I did not find any limitation on the referral, so I believe if can be more than one person per household.
SHOULD I SIGN FOR THEM?
I think you should, if you have the chance to reply to surveys at work, like I do!
