Colin Mcrae games have had the nack of being the best rally games around for a while now, and they continue to impress people with yet another stunning gaming. I didnt really enjoy the first Dirt game on playstation 2, but I decided to give Dirt 2 a chance and I was left shocked by the brilliance of this game. It not a totally pure rally game, which may leave some fans disappointed, but the new racing modes add much needed variety to the game.
The set up of the main menu is a great feature of the game which makes it unique, it consists of a caravan that you take around the world as you travel to race in different venues across the earth. When you start the game you will be racing as a nobody, so to become a legend you have to race in 8 or 9 different countries which builds up your stats by earning money and levelling up. The more races you compete and win the more money you earn which allows you to customise your cars.
There are six difficulties which only differ from each other by resulting in you earning more money in the harder levels. As you progress through the game certain races get unlocked and there are 8 major events. These are the X Games (Asia, Europe, America) and the 5 World Tours which cover the world, hence the name.
These are the other racing modes available:
Rally Cross - A mixture between track and rally events.
Domination - In this game mode you have to dominate most parts of the track over a 3 lap period to win.
Land Rush - You have to race off road in trucks and land buggies.
Raid - Requires you to race 4x4's through rough terrains and obstacles.
Gatecrash - You have to hit the gates as you race around the track to add 2 seconds every time you hit a gate so you can stay in the race.
I think that Dirt 2 is not only the best rally game out there but undoubtfully the best racing game on all platforms. I bought this game not expecting much after the previous game and I can honestly say I am really surprised at the depth and playability of this game.
Borderlands is simply a very cool game, starting from the funky graphics and the weird characters, the endless amount of weaponary, theres something for everyone in this game.
The most noticable part of the game are the graphics, dont expect them to be like anything you've seen before, however they have been used in a few games in the past. The graphics use a cartoony effect which is odd to look at but once you get used to it they arent so bad, do not dismiss the game because of the graphics as a lot of people will do so. The voice over for the characters is very good, its very entertaining to hear what the characters have to say, the story line is very good but can be pointless at some times.
Borderlands in not simply just a single player campaign game, it also has many side missions which have to their own goals, which you can start and stop at any time. Reading the map is very easy so you can navigate through the world without any trouble and their is also a navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. Their is also an online co-op for you and your friends to play together, but enemies dont really stand a chance against four opponents. You can also level up through the game which allows you to upgrade your weapons to your own preference.
They have added vehicles to the game which makes the game better than I expected, there are also rocket launchers and the vehicles have mini guns to add to the damage that you can cause. The best part of having vehicles is being able to run everything over!! However, there is a negative to vehicles and that is the controls are very awkward ar first and can take a long time to get used to.
The only downside to borderlands is the loading times from one section
of a world to the other, to add up to this nonsense is the loading images which are so boring to look at. As I said before the controls for the vehicles are awful and take a long time to get used to, they needed to be better for this game. The background music can also get annoying after a certain amount of time. Four and a half stars from me.
Now I like my football games such as Fifa and PES, but I wasnt too sure about this game as it seemed like a joke at first. I take back what I said about that game as this is one of the best games on wii, if not THE best game on wii!! This was the first online games on wii so I had to buy it to see how the ii fared online, this game was incredibly brilliant and really addictive online as well as offline playing with friends and family. Dont worry about the controls, you'll get used to them in no time and their easy to use and learn. The harder controls will take a while to learn and to get used to, but once learned they will help you become a pro.
The single player for the game is fairly short and easy, but the last cup for the mode can be challenging for less experienced players. The single player is not so special and I'd give it around 6-7/10, but the fun starts when you play online which is brilliant. The real challenge is trying to finish in the top 100 or even the top 1000. They great thing about the ranking system is that it gets reset after every season, so new players can also finish high up without being at a disadvantage from starting the game later than others. The matches do get hard and the close matches are very intense, there is no better feeling that winning the game in the dying seconds of the game.
This game is brilliant, a must buy for wi, it probably has the best online mode for any wii game, theres hardly any lagging that you'll experience on games such as SSBB and Mario kart. The online is 10/10 and as I said before the single player is worth around 6.5/10.
I dont know what to say about this game, I probably would have criticised this game had I not gone past mission 3, but I need not criticise this game as since that mission I have loved every part of playing this game - thank god I did not trade this game before completing it. There are so many parts in thie game that are mind blowing and will leave your heart pumping, however at times I was left wondering why some things were done as they were. Maybe the reasons for my questions regarding the negatives of the game are due to the fact that I am new to the MGS series and that I do not know much about the characters, history and plot of the game.
The graphics for this game are great, in fact stunning - everything looks real, the cut scenes are spectaculor but are more life short movies as they can last up to 45 mins. The sound for the cut scenes are brilliant and give you that feeling of being there as the battles take place. The gap between mission 2 and 3 was 37 mins, and I was told that the cut scenes for the whole game last up to 8 hours - so get yourself so popcorn and get comfortable when watching those scenes!
As I said before that I really wanted to sell this game when I was completing mission 3, Walking around European back streets with a mask on in a trench coat. This missions just did not fit into the game and really is let down for MGS4, but as expected the game was bought back to life with the enthrilling boss battle at the end of the mission.
I decided to continue playing, as I got into the 4th mission, the game turned on its head and this mission was completely flawless from the start to the end. The blizzard effects were stunning and went well with the ever lasting boss battle in crying wolf.
In conclusion, this game is superb and ends on such a high note with one of the best final missions I have ever played on any game. I would probably recommend konami cut down on the length of the cut scenes, they are incredibily long and can be frustrating to watch at times. Dont be fooled by the lack of action of the first 3 missions as they flatter to deceive, but after that miss match, missions 4 and 5 will impress any gamer. Overall, a MUST have for PS3 owners and for 360 owners - buy a PS3 for this game!
I dont think that this game deserves anything below or above 3 stars, the game is not really an arcade or a sim racer but you feel as if its trying to be like both. This game is probably not as good as it could have been, for me its a real let down and I would not buy this game - borrow it of someone else or rent it.
At times the gameplay is fun and it can really get your heart pounding as you get closer to the finish line, some races will make you feel as if you're the best players around and other races will make you want to smash your controller - a mixed bag of feelings. The different modes to this game arent brilliant but are fun, all you do it a lot of racing. They have introduced a new points system which gets you addicted for a while, however it can really get frustrating as after the level 25 mark as it takes time to level up from here. The levelling system allows you to unlock international events, make more money, and extra bits for your car etc.
The graphics for this game are excellent, the tracks are as detailed as they can be, the colours used are vibrant and the scenery makes this game look unbelievably real. Once the games finished, when you've completed the campaign mode and the tournament mode, theres not much to do from there onwards. The online is pretty rubbish as all you do is win for trophies and to get new parts for your cars which gets really boring after a while.
Overall I would not recommend buying this game as its not worth the price, your better off just borrowing it of someone or renting it out. Take it from me there are better racing games out in the market and NFS shift is not one of them, I sold it within two weeks of buying it.
I have loved playing tekken since the second game came out and things have moved on a lot since then. One disappointment was that they removed on of the best modes of the game, tekken tag tournament. Tekken 4 was great to play in 3D, but probably was a little short in the number of characters available. Tekken 6 has sorted these problems out with many characters to choose from aswell as hundreds on new moves and backdrops to test out.
The main upgrade for this game is the new online mode, which allows you to play with your friends online aswell as thousands of people from around the globe. From the start of the game you have all the 40 characters available meaning that you need not unlock any characters like previous games. I think its to allow all people to have all the characters unlocked so they playing online is as fair as can be, however I did enjoy unlocking characters - gave a new purpose of playing the game.
The gameplay is as usual, they have kept the modes that have kept this game in the ranks for the last decade or so - arcade, survival, VS and team battle modes. Controls are still the same, move your character using the d-pad, although you can also use the left stick. There are 16 different backgrounds to play in, including a field of sheep who get bounced about if they're in the way (funny). There's also place where you'll be falling through the floor. Win money allows you to customise your character but you'll need a lot of it for the full outfit and funky haircut or "aura" even. There are some great customised fighters online.
Online modes involve ranked and unranked matches though there are connection problems from time to time and don't be surprised if your opponent suddenly disappears just as you are beating him/her on the final round. You can see your opponents ranking before you play a game, but if you come across a heavily customised character then you're in for a game as they have played the game many times before. Popular characters online seem to be Bryan, Hwoarang, Steve and the irritating Eddy Gordo.
I would recommend this game to most people, but be warned playing the computer can get boring from time to time, so buy this game if you have friends or family who also play tekken - as this where the fun gets started. You can buy this game for a good price during this christmas period, so I'd say purchase when you can.
I've never been a fan of batman games, in fact I have never played any batman games before this one and apart from Dark Knight the movie nothing about batman has really interested me. I played the demo and when I completed the demo, in about 10 mins, I ended up pre-odering the game as I loved it so much.
The game starts of with Batman, your character, being tricked into thinking that the Joker has been caught once and for all, but as the first scene progresses The Joker manages to escape the Asylum and is up to no good, its up to Batman to catch the Joker and lock him for good. The bad thing is that the Joker in not on his own, hes got his familiar foes alongside him to stop Batman from being the hero.
The story is brilliant, one of the best Ive seen in many years, the game has very helpful hints, in terms of guards always giving batman information on the Jokers whereabouts, to Batman on his quest to stop the joker. The game allows you to do many things as Batman, you're able to fly around by attaching to things around the rooms, there is a detective mode which allows you to sneak up to your enemies without them hearing you. Its game with so much freedom and many things for you to do.
As you complete the missions in the game you'll be rewarded with many surprises on your way, such as many abilities to improve Batmans strength to fight off his enemies. He will also be able to pick up new gadgets that build up on his ability to climb, fly and sneak around Finding all 240 secrets may sound daunting, but is enjoyable, even with a bit of backtracking to previously visited area's, as your new gadgets allow you access to places previously out of your reach.
The great thing about the ps3 version is that you are able to play as the Joker which allows you to unlock many exclusive features of the Joker. I really enjoyed playing this game and completing all the missions in the game aswell as the side missions which keeps the game going for months. I would totally recommend this game to anyone looking for a RPG as you will not regret buying this game.
I have written a review for Assassins Creed and I was fairly disappointed with that game, but I have to say that the sequel to that game is truly magnificent - a game which brings PS3 users and 360 users together. From the look of this game I'd say the ubisoft have listened to their user feedback and have majorly improved the sequel to A.Creed. As someone who wasnt very find of the first game, I admit now that this is probably the most surprisingly good game since the lastest Batman edition.
The game is set in the 15th century in Italy opposed to its predecessor which was set in Crusade-era Israel, the game follows Ezio Auditore on his adventures around the city which bring him to brawling with a rival family, running errands for his father and visiting the love of his life. There is a quick change in his life as its is turned completed upside down as he learns about his fathers legacy and aims to keep it at its position by fighting of the betrayers. The first game was fairly simplistic as to what was required of you to do to complete the game, but in A.Creed 2 you are required to kill enemies who are much more aware of the situation and do anything to stop you from going on - this makes the plot much more interesting than in the first game.
The graphics are siply stunning and show off how beautiful Italy really is and how it as modern as New York and as Historic as Athens. Also the game is based not only in one city but more such as Florence, Tuscany and Venice feature, with a smaller town acting as a hub of sorts where Ezio can train. You can also build on Ezios strength as the game allows you to purchase armour which increases his health meter, he is also able to buy maps to guide him around the cities, which also reveal hidden treasures. All this features also help in combat as Ezio can fight enemies without letting them notice him, and he is able to call upon help to distract the guards, if need be.
This game is not just brilliant for its gameplay but its detailed charcaters, and its ability to change the time of day as if it were real life, going from day to night at such a rate. Ezio is also able to take down enemies in ust seconds, but the his rivals arent that gullable and will also try their best to stop Ezio, you will notice how guards will quietly following Ezio to places you wouldnt expect such as to the rooftops. Another feature that will astonish you is when you look across the horizon, you wont see moutains that you'd see in most games, you'll see the whole city ith every bit of detail look as good as ever.
I cant really criticise this game, especially for the fact that it has improved so much from the first game. The ubisoft team deserve a pat on the back for the effort they have put into making this game easily one of the best games out on PS360. They have kept some of the elements from the first game and improved on them to make some of the bad points from the first game, the good points for the second. All in all I would recommend this game to all people of all ages owning any console.
This is a very confusing game and made me not want to play after only owning for a couple of days. The graphics are no becoming a norm as they are great for most ps3 games, I loved exploring the towns and completing the missions were fun for a while but to me the story did not make too much sense. After a while it felt like all the missions were completely identical, I think you'd notice this after level 3. The gameplay is also a big negative which puts this game down even further.
I found the cmbat system to this game too simple, as in it was too easy to kill the enemies which doesnt require you to plan your attack, you may aswell not use the stealth attack as you can rush in and take down the enemies in a very quick time. The range of weapons is also very poor which makes this game a one style game, you end using the same weapons throughout the whole game. As the game goes on the levels seem to get harder but only by there being more guards and making them more alert which ends up slowing the game down. There are times in this game when you'll be walking down a path and a random guard decides to pick a fight, but in all honesty it isnt very hard to take the guard down, its extra slow in some missions as using the stealth mode only slows you down.
Overall, I think that this game was rushed a prime example being the flags available for collection, however there's no point in doing it as you dont even get any trophies in the game. I like to complete games that I buy, but this was an exception as it was horrible to play, so my final verdict is do not buy this game.
Since the days of Gran Turismo, as far as I can remember, there was no game that came close to being as good as it was. The first four got better and better and the graphics made the game look even more realistic, and now that GT5 is on its way people have assumed that now drving game will come close. But in my eyes Polyphony Digital should be getting worried about being "the best driving simulator". Having got up to level 35, I keep playing the game as im completely addicted and there seems to be a lot of the game left. Whats surprsing is that after you've completed the game theres a lot of things to keep you going.
One criticism of these racing games, particularly GT3 and 4, forza 2, is that they try to be more realistic and end up not concentrating on the racing part of the game. However, Forza 3 has improved on this problem, as well as having better graphics its also worked on the racing part of the game. Theres been many new additions to the game such as the new paint canvas and Storefront in addition to the Auction House, its seems as if they spent a lot of time on these new additions aswell as a considerate amount of time on the tracks. The faults with this game are not big so can be ignored.
Forza 3 has really challenged GT5 this year and its going to have to be extra special if its going to beat Forza 3. Having extra cars and better graphics will not do the job, they have to make the game last longer and make the audience want to play because they enjoy playing. At this right moment Forza 3 is the best game out on any console and gets 5/5 from me!
I bought this game hoping that the price would drop drastically last christmas but as it has been since the day of release I bought the game for over £25 but it was totally worth, in fact the games probably worth a bit more than the current shelf price. This game should go down as the best game out on wii, let me tell you that dont expect a brilliant racer, just expet great fun and enjoyment. Trust me when I say that your going to be addicted to this game for a couple months as its so fun to play.
The best mode to the game is playing online with many other people with hardly any lag at all. Why I think that playing online is brilliant is that you get to play with 11 other people on a random map chose by the computer. The reason I say that theres hardly any lag is that super smash bros brawl was overhauled by the amount of lag when playing online. Playing online can also be slightly competitive as you get points for winning so that you can build up on your overall rank.
There many vehicles to unlock such as bikes and karts aswell as many characters to unlock, however this can only be done on the single player mode. You can aslo play split screen mode with 3 other players, but as I said before you wont be able to unlock any characters or bikes/karts in this mode. It was nice to see that they redeemed the classic tracks from tge old mario karts, although I dont know why they added bikes to a game thats called Mario KART not that they make the game bad or anything. Another odd feature was the addition of Donkey Kong who sticks out like a sore thumb.
One not so negative, but an unfair part of the game was that when you get better at the game the more likely you are to get hit by the blue and red shells which results in you losing your first place position in the game. The tracks are an interesting feature of the game, all nice to look at and fun to play on. There are also many prizes to be collected when racing that help you get to that most wanted first position or stop someone from getting ahead of you.
One of the biggest negatives when playing online is the amount of cheaters you'll find who will do anything to stop you from finishing first, one to note for is Mr Bean who is reportedly the biggest cheater in the game. It can really get frustrating as they continuosly bombard you with shells and bananas and will keep using the rocket and gold star in their favour. Also I would not recommend the wii wheel as its very hard to have full control over and usually results in the player losing most races. All in all the best game on wii and is easily the must have of the last couple of years, so if you dont have it pick it up now!
I usually make my decisions on purchasing games based on how good the demo was and the demo for this game did not impress me. Then for some reason I thought that I'd just purchase the game as there was something about it that made me want to play even more. My whole view for this game changed to favour this game and in the end it wasnt as bad as I initially thought it was.
The game is brilliant for the fact that you feel as if you're in Cole's shoes who by the way had been granted with super powers after a huge radial blast. The game then follows his story as he seeks the truth to way he was granted these powers, he meets his friends along the way - zeke and ex trish. You'd be surprised with how good the ending to this game was, there are a few surprising twists and turns throughout the game. One of the ways you upgrade your power is to make vital decisions as the story continues, however these decisions require you to make them as a good person or a bad person, but remember if you dont make these decisions you wont build your power up. This might seem annoying at first but its totally worth it as you dont have to upgrade your power by grinding out XP.
The gameplay is excellent and you get to thing s which you've probably never done in any other games, like transversing the city up and down, left and right etc. One of the best things about this game is that Cole can climg just about anything in the game and I mean ANYTHING. The missions vary in the content that is available which means you wont get repetitive missions and they've also added in some side missions for the extra fun. One thing you wont get bored of is throwing a sticky grenade at your enemies and watching them fly of a 30 ft building to their death.
The game should take you about 12 hours to complete and once you've finished its not the end of the fun as you should still go back to perform all the stunts and make sure you've collected all the territories ect. I would recommed this game to anyone looking for an RPG which is also an open world game.
I have had this game for about 10 days and have been pondering over the final verdict to describe this game, after a few days of playing and thinking I have come to the conclusion that COD MW2 is undoubtfully the best game out on any console. If you havent had the time to purchase this game then you're missing out on a lot, so I take this time out to tell you that you buy the game at the end of this review.
On the day before release I wasnt sure whether to buy this game or not as I had played Call of duty World at war and I have to be honest when I say that I didnt like that game. The only reason I purchased this game was because of the hype surrounding, and obviously because it was £26 on the day of release. What a mistake it would have been if I hadnt purchased this game, its utterly brillaint! The graphics are outstanding, the gameplay is excellent and the multiplayer is too addictive.
There are many modes to this game, lets start off with the single player campaign mode which took me about 8-10 hours to complete, but for most people I think it would take around 12-16 hours. The campaign is as expected nothing special but still better than most. The action starts when you go online and play the multiplayer mode with your friends and the millions of other people who play this game. You can play many different games online ranging from deathmatch ( called free for all ) to teamdeathmatch, you can play sabotage ( bomb the other teams base ) or capture the flag, you can even play big team battles consisting of 12-18 players rather than the usual 8-12 players. The game follows a ranking system and you start off from rank 0 and then I think the last rank is somewhere near the 70 mark. The only you can rank up is through getting kills and winning games, you get 100xp from every kill you again, you also gain xp for loads of other things such as blowing a vehicle or a headshot etc.
Through ranking up you also gain access to many more powerful guns and also the attachments that can be used with your chosen gun. The weapons range from assualt rifles to SMG's and LMG's, you can also use rocket launchers, shot guns and hanguns - this list goes on. Most guns are obtained by ranking up, for example the AK-47 is unlocked at rank 65 (I think). attachments are very important in the game as they will increase you range, accuracy, damage by a hell of lot, so remember to stick with one gun until you get access to all the attachments. Lets not forget the side equipment that you get in the game, such as grenades (frag, flash, smoke, stun and sticky), you can also use the claymore which is movement triggered bomb.
The last mode of the game is special ops which is comepleting missions either on your own or with your friends. I have played this for a couple of hours and it is really fun to complete with your mates. I am not going to finish off with a massive conclusion, but I will say one last thing - BUY THIS GAME, NO MATTER WHAT!!
I needed to buy a new printer as my old one was a slow piece of junk so as I purchased my laptop I was offered a printer as well and I thought that I'd fo for the good looking Dell AIO 926. But thats it, its only good looking because everything else about this all in one printer is terrible. Let me give you an overview of why this printer is so bad, the mains plug is always coming out, the printer doesnt respond most of the time and its always eating my paper.
The good: theres not much to say about this printer in terms of how good it is as I have only seen the bad things that this printer does. The most positive thing about this printer is that when it prints it prints at a decent rate - so your not waiting long for your document to be printed. It also prints photos, and it came with a pack of 10 photo paper. Other than its an All In One, theres nothing special about the printer and I think its time to move on to the bad.
The bad: one of the worst things about this printer is that the mains plug in the back is always falling out which can be so frustrating. For some reason dell continue to produce plugs which dont fit into their required port and then fall out continuosly. As I said it gets you realy annoyed as when the printer doesnt start up you have to keep pushing the plug back into its place. Another consistently occuring problem is that the printer seems to jam up whenever you try scanning something, it sometimes takes up to 15 mins trying to scan one item!! Also I dont know if this problem actually occurs, but I've realised that the paper in my printer seems to be decreasing whenever the printer is not in use and happens at a real quick rate. The final problem is that the ink for this printer costs a fortune, more than most printers, the final cost adds up to around £25 and I purchase ink every three to four months.
I would NOT recommend this printer to anyone as I have not had a good experience with this printer and there have been a lot of continuosly occuring problems. There are many better printers out there in the market which probably are a hundred times better than this Dell AIO printer. Dont buy this printer!!
I purchased this game weary of the fact that it might not be for me, but was I wrong, this game has everything you need from a shooter. Graphically, this game is brilliant and prbably not suited for the younger audience as it does contain a lot of bloody scenes, so I wouldnt recommend it for under 15's. I actually purchased this game because I was bored of oblivion and I was really happy with that as this game is so much better.
Initially I wasnt pleased with the game as when I started playing it, in the first quest, I kept dying and was really getting frustrated by the game. So, I decided to start again, this time paying full attention to every detail of the game and I was able to appreciate the graphics even more and it was then I realised I good this game really was. To get good at this game you have to connect with it and really take your time when playing, levelling up is really important as it gives you access to other important weapons required to finish the game. There are also many side missions for you to complete which also take a good time to finish off.
There are many people who will complain about the shooting and say that the aim is well off the target. Dont listen to these morons as if you repair your weapon and use it in the best condition, you will find no problem with the game. Throughout the game you will go through towns which are graphically amazing and you really have to look hard to appreciate the sheer brilliance of the graphics. You will fight many enemies such as land fighting raiders, super mutants, mutated cock roaches, scorpians and fly's etc.
I could go on for ages telling you about the experiences I have had playing this gaem, but I would have to write a review that would go on for hours. I would simply say that you have to buy this game for yourself to really see how good it actually is.
