About this Member

Hi, I'm Elaine. Married, with two boys, aged 23 and 11. I live in the South of England, and work within the fields of care of the disabled/elderly, and wildlife conservation/education.

My interests outside of work are wide, including most art and crafts, research and writing, web design, English Heritage, historical re-enactments and living history, British wildlife and conservation (especially water wildlife).

I also keep fish, an interest that is often in conflict with my love of water wildlife. Fish eat water creatures... water creatures eat baby fish...
But I see the whole of life on this planet as a constant battle between conflicting needs (and selfish desires) - so why should my garden be any different from the rest of the world? Where there is a will, there can usually be found a way. So it is that I have found ways for nature and science, predator and prey, to co-exist within my acre. This has not been easy, of course; but then, the price of peace and co-existence never was - or will be - low, wherever it is sought upon this earth!
