      A superb film

I watched Deep Impact on the TV this christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was an emotional yet intriguing film. The story follows a young teenage boy after a comet is sighted to be heading for the earth. This thrilling movie gives an insight into what it would really be like if a comet was heading for earth.

In my opinion, Deep Impact is better than Armageddon although it follows a similar storyline. The filming is excellent and a realistic and authentic atmosphere is brought about in some of the most amazing scenes although some are quite obviously fake.

A team of the world's best are sent in a spaceship to try and destroy the comet, but do they succeed? This film will keep you on the edge of your seat and takes an emotional side-turn when you are comfortably sitting on the back of your chair. The story is a great one and I was really able to engage with the film and feel sympathetic for some of the characters. The characterisations were excellent, which make the storyline all the better. Featuring Morgan Freeman, I would say this is a must-watch!

A great game for the family

Monopoly is a fabulous board game, which is always great to play on a rainy day. It is a classic board game with many newer variations but I will be reviewing the classic standard version. You can buy it for just over £10s as toy shops and online.

The board mostly consists of squares on which properties lie. You can purchase them for money that you start the game with. Money comes with the game (not real unfortunately - just monopoly money) along with enough pieces for many players, houses, hotels, cards and the property cards.

There are many rules which are twisted when playing the game and you can make up your own rules for optimum fun! The basic idea of the game is to go around buying properties and preferably owning sets of properties, which are all of the same colour next to each other on the board. When you own a set, you can pay to build houses on them and even hotels. When people land on your properties, they have to pay rent, which increases when you have houses/hotels on your sets, which can leave the other players with a hole in their pocket!

Other squares in the game include community chest and chance squares. You take respective cards, which have a variety of things on them such as 'Go to jail' where you must go to the jail square and obey the rules of jail before being allowed out. Some cards may advance you to certain squares, some will charge you for something, others will give you money and the dreaded ones that charge tax on all your houses/hotels are terrible when you have many! The idea of the game is to make your opponents bankrupt in order to win the game.

It's a really great game to play with any from 2-6 people. I would highly recommend you buy it if you haven't already! The game is tactical but also very fun - Always used to lose myself but you get better :)

Tasty crisps, which give an impression of authenticity

The new Walkers cheese and onion crisps are more improved than ever. The slogan on the back of the pack - 'Muddy Good Potatoes' gives a lovely natural and suprisingly healthy tone about them. The crisps are made with Sunseed oil nowadays, which is naturally lower in saturates than other oils.

The crisps come in a blue packet with a large Walkers logo situated at the top. The logo stands out by the use of an eclipse effect. The packet also shows a potato with slices coming off, slowly turning into the crisps that you will recognise inside the packet. This helps to give them a naturally healthy impression.

They taste wonderful. They have a light taste to them but the flavouring is great and they do resemble both cheese and onion, with gives them authenticity. There are a fair amount in the packs, but the multipacks have less in them. You can buy single standard packets for around 35p at most shops and newsagents, also including large stores like Tescos.

They are a filling snack and part of a healthy diet. I would recommend you try them out as they are the original Walkers crisps and very tasty.

          Excellent treats as rewards

Friskies allsorts are excellent little treats for any dog. You can get a pack for around £1.99, which is an excellent price considering the amount of treats you get. The treats are in four different shapes:

          * Round
          * Triangular
          * Oval
          * Bone

They each consist of a two-tone colour, which makes them more attractive for you and your dog. They come in a bright red and green packet with the 'Friskies' logo at the top. The 'Allsorts' logo is multi-coloured to catch your eye.

These treats are excellent for teaching your dog tricks. I do not know of any dog that would deny one of these allsorts - sometimes I fancy one myself! They are soft and chewy so are great for quick treats as a reward, rather than something to fill your dog up.

They have quite an intense smell like any other dog treat, which I have become rather fond of. I would highly recommend these to any dog owner as they are good value treats, ideal for rewards and teaching your dog tricks.

            Disadvantages

An excellent system where plenty of dooyoo miles are up for grabs!

The dooyoo rewards system is very rewarding indeed. You can earn substantial amounts for sharing your opinions and being a regular user on the site by reading other reviews too.

The points you earn are called 'dooyoo miles', which is basically the currency for the site. Once you have enough dooyoo miles, you can redeem them for a variety of things. Here are the basics for how many dooyoo miles you can earn:

            150 word review: 500
            Member read: 15
            Crown: 1500
            Review of the month: 3500
            Monthly competition: 5000/3000/1000
            First review draw: 2500

All of these points are dooyoo miles. 1000 miles is equivalent to £1.00 once you redeem. Therefore, you earn 50p for writing a review, which is 150 words or more. You get points for other members reading your reviews too. If you write quality reviews, you may have a chance at getting a crown, which adds a generous £1.50 to your earnings. The last three I mentioned are all competitions.

The review of the month is selected from all the crowned reviews and is awarded the equivalent of £3.50 as a reward for the writer. The monthly competition is similar but you must write in a certain category to stand a chance. The three best reviews will win rewards - with a whopping £5.00 for the best! It may sound like you will never win, but it's very easy to if you write well. For those who write more short reviews as opposed to less quality reviews, this next one is the competition for you! You can win the equivalent of £2.50 each month for writing the first review on any product in the selected categories for that month. You are automatically entered into the draw if you do so and there are 20 prizes to be given away. You can only win once, but it's very easy to maximise your chances at winning by writing as many first reviews on new products as you can!

The rewards system is excellent and very generous. You can earn money for a variety of things and the best bit is redeeming those well-earned dooyoo miles. You can either redeem for an amazon.co.uk voucher where you can buy anything from the enormous choice they have. You can also redeem for cheques or you can even be generous yourself and hand the cash over to a charity of your choice. It's a great system and works very well.

              Disadvantages

A truly addicting site where you are motivated to be a regular user

I think it's very easy to get addicted to dooyoo. The motivation to earn rewards for sharing your opinions with others is great. Therefore, I keep coming back to the site every day to build up my dooyoo miles to be redeemed one day.

Dooyoo is so easy to use, this makes it addicting too. The search function is excellent and you will find what you want to write on within seconds. If not, you can use the sitemap to navigate to different categories where you can browse through products to write on. There are so many things to write on that Dooyoo becomes even more addicting.

The points you earn for sharing your opinions are very generous and I personally appreciate this. For a review over 150 words, you can earn the equivalent of 50p in points, getting an extra 1.5p per member read. This leads me onto my next point - reading reviews.

I am on Dooyoo much of the time looking at other people's reviews, rating and commenting on them if I wish. I like to think of the site as a 'give and take' one, where you read other people's reviews and they will read yours. I make an effort to read as many other people's reviews as I can as I only feel it's fair and this keeps me on the site quite a bit too.

Dooyoo is very much addicting for the generous rewards you can earn off the site. It takes up time but time is money. The more time you spend on the site, whether it be rating other reviews or writing your own, the more money you earn. This motivation to be a regular user is what makes it addicting and the rewards are great!

A great unique drink, which has a lovely taste, texture and is very thirst quenching

Coca Cola is one of the most popular soft drinks and it's one of my favourite too. You can buy coca cola in several different size bottles from the 500ml to the 1 litre and 2 litre bottles. You can also buy coca cola 330ml cans for around 60p.

Coca cola comes in a transparent bottle with a red label round the side. The Coca Cola logo is written clearly in bold white letters with a smooth design surrounding it. The bottle is filled up with this dark (almost black) liquid. The red and black colour scheme go very well together and give the drink a unique look.

Opening the bottle, you will hear a big release of gas. Coca cola is probably the fizziest drink I can think of, which is great for those who like fizzy drinks! Because of this, you need to be careful when pouring the drink. It will quickly raise to the top of the glass as the bubbles form. After waiting for the bubbles to go down, you can continue to fill up your glass.

The drink has a somewhat strong smell if you put your nose near enough. As you lift the glass up to your mouth, you can feel the bubbles fizzing on your lips. As soon as it enters your mouth, you feel a tingly sensation all over your tongue. It has a really unique taste and is very thirst-quenching too. It is best served cold with ice and a slice of lemon goes well with it.

                  Disadvantages

An entertaining game show, which is humorous at times

The weakest link is a game show hosted by Anne Robinson. It is on every weekday on BBC one where the maximum prize in each round is £10,000. On weekends, it is on BBC2 and the maximum prize is £50,000 so it's easier to win more money.

The game starts with a range of players who introduce themselves. Each round then lasts several minutes long where Anne Robinson asks simple questions, which usually require a 1 word answer or true/false. If they get the question correct, they reach the next milestone in the prizes. At the beginning of the next player's question, they can decide to say 'bank' to bank the current money or they can carry on to get to the next milestone if they answer correctly. Therefore, you can get a string of correct answers and build up to a high sum of money before someone says 'bank' to cash it in. Usually, someone gets a question wrong and then you drop back to £0 and have to start getting correct answers again.

At the end of each round, each player is judged on how many questions they answered right/wrong, how much money they banked and other things. As a viewer, we are told who's the weakest and strongest link when the players vote the weakest link by writing the player name they wish to be eliminated on a board. When the voting starts, one by one each player reveals who they think is the weakest link. The player with the most votes goes and gets to have a word with the camera behind the scenes where they can express their thoughts/feelings.

It is a good game show to watch as you can try and answer the questions yourself. Also, the host (Anne Robinson) is very entertaining and the show can be quite humorous sometimes. There have been variations of 'The Weakest Link' with celebrities involved, which can be even more entertaining to watch.

An excellent game for the DS - perhaps the best.

The Pokemon games have been going for ages and I still love them despite my age. The Pokemon Diamond version is even more addicting and really fun to play as you battle your way through a whole new world.

The idea of the game is to collect pokemon in the wild/through other trainers/online and train them to get stronger. You will fight a range of bosses in the game, which prove to be intense and exciting battles. Your pokemon can level up as you train with them and they will learn new moves and even evolve into better pokemon.

Along with the wild and gyms where you train your pokemon and fight bosses, there are many other attractions throughout the game. There are shops in every city with something different to offer. There is a radio station in one city where you can later enter the lottery and more. There is a bicycle shop where you can buy a bicycle to get around quicker. There are loads of other characters around the game who you may become friends with or they may be your enemy! The story is really good and easy to follow.

This game is really addicting so it keeps you playing as you can't wait to get to the next city and catch rare pokemon in new places. Using the online wi-fi mode, you can battle other players around the world as well as trade pokemon. This makes the game much better and more exciting as you can test your skills against other real trainers.

The colour graphics in the game are such an improvement from the original pokemon games. The buildings and places look more 3D and it's very obvious what everything is. The sound brings back good old memories of the very first pokemon games. There is also a range of new songs when you're traveling, which automatically change between areas and scenarios. The replay value is very good due to the game being so addicting. I don't think I put this game down for the first 2 months of playing it and when I did, I still played it a few times every week.

You can get the game for just £24.98 on amazon.co.uk. It has maintained a reasonably high price as it is one of the best-selling games and simply one of the best games for the DS. Highly recommended!

Great pets, which are unique and really entertaining

Tortoises are fantastic animals, which make great pets. I have had a tortoise for a few years now and it's really entertaining and easy to look after to. There are many different breeds of tortoise, which live in different habitats. I have even heard of one that climbs trees.

They cost around £100+ to buy depending on the breed. Due to rules about transporting tortoises, you need to have a license for your tortoise (rather like a driving license)! They live in tanks, which you can usually buy in the shop you get the tortoise from. They will need a USB light to help their body work along with a heat lamp (especially when it's cold) to stimulate warm conditions.

Many tortoises hibernate in winter, so you need to know how to do this. However, there are some that don't hibernate. They have a shell on their back (well.. it is their back) to protect them. They also like to tuck their head and feet in their shell to get comfy or when they are afraid they are in danger.

They are really easily to look after and mine is easily pleased. They are herbivores so will only eat leaves, fruit and vegetables. Some examples of this are: Dandelions, Apple, Orange, Peach, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Romaine Lettuce. They are not allowed Iceberg lettuce as well as other varieties as it's poisonous for them. They need their tanks cleaning out to put in new turf (sand or small bark for tortoises) and their feces need removing constantly to keep it clean.

A good shop to pick up a bargain or two and leave your unwanted clothes, etc

Oxfam is a charity shop, which can be found right across Britain. I have done some voluntary work at my local Oxfam previously so got a behind the scenes look at the shop. The causes for buying items is good as most the money goes towards third-world countries.

Oxfam sell a variety of things from clothes to ornaments and food. Most of the items sold are second hand/new from members of the public who have kindly donated. You can pick up some great bargains though. I remember one woman who bought in literally hundreds of pounds worth of designer clothes. They were sold at a reasonably higher price but you would pay 5 times as much to buy them new. It's always worth having a look.

They also sell ornaments, toys and games, which have been donated. You can pick up some entertainment for the kids here. The food they sell is mostly fair trade, which is better for the foreigners who produce the food. Oxfam also sell a variety of new items including toys and little bits and bobs.

You can drop in your own clothes and unwanted items, which will go to a great cause. It is (hate to say it) a good way to 'dump' your old clothes and other items. I would recommend you check out your local shop to find a bargain or two!

A coffee maker, which will make those tiring mornings so much better!

This machine is a 'Nespresso' coffee maker. It is very professional and makes superb coffees but it's not the simplest product to buy. You need to buy special coffee pods separately, which can be bought online although they are cheaper in the shops.

You can buy a variety of coffee pods for the machine, which are all of different flavours. You simply stick the pod in the top by lifting up the handle. After switching the machine on for it to warm up, you can pull the leaver foward on the top, which starts the flow of coffee. The machine makes a rather loud noise (like any coffee machine) as it pours the coffee at a fair speed.

You should place the cup on the silver tray below, which has holes to let any excess drain into the bottom to be emptied later. This whole compartment slides out so it can be emptied. The clever bit is that when you insert a new coffee pod, the old one falls back into a storage compartment when you lift up the handle. It all works very well and is extremely easy to use.

There is a container on the back, which simply sits on the back where water is stored. You can take it off after a simple lift to fill it up. It never warms up when you switch the machine on but the machine sends through boiling water with the coffee, which is a mystery I will never understand. The machine also has a stick to froth up milk, although it doesn't really work very well. It seems to squirt out water and not actually do much else rather than water down the milk.

Overall, it is an excellent machine that was well-worth the purchase. It makes excellent professional coffees in an instant. The only drawback is the price of it all as the machine costs around £155 in black or silver/black and the pods are around 20p each but you buy them in long tubes.

                            Advantages

                            Disadvantages

A great ingredient for cakes and cooked eggs themselves (DUH!)

What a random thing to review - eggs in general.

Well, believe it or not, eggs are very useful in many ways. They are an important ingredient in your favourite cakes and they are in many other foods too. What are eggs? They come out bird's butts and they are basically their babies that haven't formed.

You can use eggs as they are to make different style eggs or you can add them to other foods to make something like a cake! I personally use my eggs to cook scrambled egg, fried egg and omelettes. My favourite has to be the omelettes as you can add vegetables to them to make them even more tasty. If you want to make a spanish omelette, you can boil some potato before hand and add this to make it a really filling and tasty meal.

Scrambled eggs are good too. They are much easier to cook as you simply add the eggs with a bit of milk to a pan and give them a stir whilst they cook. I tend to add seasoning (salt and pepper) to the egg before cooking it but not too much or it will ruin the taste!

I also like to make fried eggs, which are ideal for toast. You simply crack an egg in a bowl and tip it into a hot pan. The egg will begin to cook but you should keep a lid on the pan so the steam cooks the top and the yolk (yellow part).

Whites or Yolks? Well, it depends on the egg for me. With boiled eggs (simply boiled in a pan for 10 minutes), I prefer the yolks but with fried eggs I find the whites a bit tastier. Eggs can be cooked in 5 different ways I can think of - poached, boiled, scrambled, fried and as an omelette. There are loads of recipes for eggs on the internet.

Some great things that eggs go with are tuna, sweetcorn and mayonaise or just some chives and mayonaise with a bit of seasoning for a fresh tasty egg maynoaise! Eggs are easy to cook so you should try it out. WARNING: Eggs are also known to give you bad wind sometimes - especially scrambled egg/egg mayonaise.

                              Advantages

                              Disadvantages

Really unique crisps in some cool intense flavours

Nik Naks are really unique crisps, which I always fancy every now and then. My favourite flavour has to be the Nice n' Spicy one as they are very addicting and have a sweet taste! They are also available in 3 other flavours; here's the full list:

                              Nice N Spicy
                              Rib N Saucy
                              Cream N Cheesy
                              Scampi N Lemon

As you can see, the flavours are based on two ingredients each, apart from the Nice N Spicy one, which is an exception as 'nice' isn't an ingredient. I have only tried the Nice N Spicy and Cream N Cheesy flavours, which have both been very tasty.

They come in small packets, which are colour coded. You must try the orange pack - the Nice N Spicy flavour. The taste is unique and really delicious.

They have a bumpy appearance and generally have a long shape. They are hard and crunchy so the texture is rather appealing. Each flavour is covered in powdered flavouring, which gives them a delicious intense flavouring. They have a rather strong smell to go with their tatse. You can pick up a pack for around 35p, which is cheaper than other crisps making them a good option.

                                Advantages

                                Disadvantages

A good office tool, which is very useful and effective if it doesn't mess up

The Tipp-ex pocket mouse is a rather good product, so long it doesn't break! You can buy the original Tipp-ex in a small bottle, where you paint on the solution. This is a much more dangerous option as the stuff gets all over your hands and can spill on clothes due to it's thin viscosity, in which case it may ruin them for good!

The Pocket Mouse version comes in a plastic box, shaped rather like a mouse. You actually use its nose/mouth to paste over writing that may need correcting. It works well on normal paper but I wouldn't recommend it for card or anything else. You simply open the red nose and press reasonably hard as you drag it along the writing you wish to cover. It's excellent for spelling mistakes or errors when writing something down as you can go over it and make it white again!

Once you have used the tipp-ex, I would recommend writing over it with a biro. This is because ink pens and roller balls don't work as well on the tipp-ex you are applying. The only problem with the pocket mouse is when the tape inside messes up or you are dragging it across your work and the tape breaks, meaning you have to do one more bit, making it even more messy than before! When used correctly, it works brilliantly but you have to be gentle but subtle with it.
