This was my first electric toothbrush which was given to me as a Christmas present last year. I've heard so many things about the benefits of electric toothbrushes and after being bombarded with advertisements over the Christmas period I just had to see what the fuss was about for myself.
I didn't specifically ask for this brand or model, but it was half price at Boots at the time - great value! The packaging the product came in was very secure, actually to the point where I had major difficulties getting it out of the plastic casing. The box contained the toothbrush with a head, a charger and the instructions.
The brush was very easy to use and already came fully charged for convenience. I tried it out that very evening and thought it was wonderful. The brush wasn't too heavy so that I could hold it with ease and there is only one button on the front of this toothbrush which made it ridiculously easy to use.
The brush head was small enough to put enough toothpaste on and during the cleaning process I liked how it managed to reach all the small corners of my mouth. The brush also has a timer which will slow down the brush head when it's reached the recommend two minute brushing time (not essential but a handy feature nevertheless.) My mouth felt so clean after the two minute brushing time, a lot more fresher than how my mouth would feel after using my manual toothbrush.
Admittedly, the battery life wasn't what I was expecting, but then again I have nothing to compare the brush to. I found myself recharging it every week which I thought was a bit much for a toothbrush that I only used for two minutes at the time. Another feature I didn't like about this product was that the plug was for a shaving adaptor and not a standard UK plug which meant that every time the charge had ran out of my toothbrush I'd have to take it to my friends to top it up.
Overall, it was great product and is more than suitable for a first time electric toothbrush buyer.
I purchased Deep Heat when I started experiencing back pain at work. I work on my feet all day and all night and it had a massive impact on my back, after a few hours of work in the evening I'd find myself in agony so I sought out the help of the well known brand - Deep Heat.
The packaging itself was mainly red in colour with what seems like a glowing sun in the middle of the one side. The white of the sun displays the Deep Heat logo in a arguably tacky red "fire" font whilst the rest of the font on the packaging was displayed in blue readable text. The product comes in a squeezable tube with a screwable red lid which is the case for most squeezable products. It's small enough to keep in your bag although it's rather inconvenient to apply in public.
After reading the safety instructions, I proceeded to use the product. It's definitely worth reading the instructions thoroughly as the product isn't very self explanatory. The product itself has qualities very similar to Bepanthem in that it's a thick gooey paste, Deep Heat is white in colour and the smell is very unique. I immediately noticed the smell of this product, it's a very medicated, TCP, anaseed kind of smell which people either love of hate.
I applied the product as directed to the bottom of the back and after just a few minutes I could feel the product start to work. It made that area of skin feel very fresh and tingly, it was nothing that I've felt before - a very unique experience for me. It instantly eradicated the soreness that I felt in my back and as that is what I intended the product to do, then in that aspect it worked. The great thing about this product is that when rubbed into the skin, it doesn't stick to or stain your clothes.
There is however a downside to this product, I found that the effects of the product wore off after only a couple of hours and I found myself constantly reapplying the product as I would still be working on my feet. The smell as I mentioned above lingers around for a while afterwards and it's very VERY potent, there were a number of "what is that smell?!" comments made when I was around. This smell could also be smelt by intoxicated clubgoers which should put into perspective of how noticeable the smell was.
If you're looking for a temporary fix to your aches and pains, then this product is for you. However due to the smell and the constant reapplication I found that it wasn't useful for my specific needs.
I bought these wipes for my handbag so that I could freshen up and remove my makeup on the go. Originally my friend lent me one whilst I was stopping over hers for the evening and I was more impressed with the product, I didn't even realise that they were a supermarket own brand makeup remover wipe.
The packaging as you can imagine was quite dull, however they look a lot different now that from the image displayed above. The wipes come in a white dispensable packet with little purple images plastered over the front. It's not very glamorous, but it's an improvement from the original design. The packet contains 25 white wet wipes and meet the average size of a makeup remover wipe you'd find in a drug store (maybe a little smaller.) The packet itself is quite small and can fit easily into a travel bag or handbag.
The wipe itself doesn't have much of a fragrance which is great for me as I have sensitive skin and less fragrant chemicals are better for me personally. Whilst I use these wipes for removing my makeup, they're also perfect for babies and for freshening up on a hot day. The wipes are very moist, moister than most high end brand products I've used and they take off all my makeup in one go - even waterproof mascara.
The price of this product is retailed at around 25p making the price of a wipe a single British penny! Now that's an economy price for you! Not only are these wipes great value for money, but they perform so well that it's hard to believe they're part of a Tescos own brand range. They're something that you should definitely pick up on the weekly supermarket trip.
I moved to University in 2011 and one of the things that I went out to buy for my room was a paper shredder. Over the course of freshers fortnight I had gathered mountains of insurance, bank statements, University documents that I needed to dispose of. I didn't really have an idea how much paper shredders cost until I actually had to go out and buy one for myself.
I brought this paper shredder from Tesco's for little under £20. The product personally wasn't very well packaged but then again the contents were only a lid, a bucket and the instructions. It didn't bother me too much that the cut style was only a "strip cut" as long as I could dispose my details more safely. Overall, the product looked quite smart and basic, ideally sized and suited for my student house.
The top part (the lid) of the paper shredder was a little heavy, but then again I think this is the case with most paper shredders. The product was made of a cheap, plastic black material and for £20 I expected something of a better quality. The shredder had only two shredding options minus the "standby" button: reverse and shred (simple to use.) There were also a number of white images on the top of the lid, sadly I have now forgotten what they displayed.
I object to the claims that this product can shred 5 sheets at once because mine broke not long after I brought it, very disappointing. The 'reverse' button didn't push out my paper and now I am left with a broken paper shredder that I now cannot fix. Very disappointed in the product, I would never buy again.
I bought this product as I went through a phase of drinking protein shakes. I wasn't sure whether I would stick to making protein shakes all day (I didn't) but I wanted a budget blender that would do my needs. This blender can only be brought from Argos, but there are many other budget blenders out there on the market. I chose this one because of positive reviews and convenience (I only live down the road from an Argos.)
The packaging was pretty standard, the cardboard box kept all of the pieces of my blender together ready to assemble. The first thing that I noticed was how easy the blender was to put together, it was made up of less than five different pieces and I didn't even need the instructions. The overall quality of the product was cheap, but then again I wasn't expecting anything premium for the price that I paid for the blender. The lid to the blender I thought was a little cheap as was the little insert at the top, however it stayed in place and fit the purpose in which it was built.
The blender was incredibly easy to use, there were only three different settings that accompanied the "off" button:
- Speed 1
- Speed 2
As I was only making banana smoothies and protein shakes at the time - it was all I really expected from this budget blender. I will say though that the blades were unable to slice up my banana into smaller pieces so my shakes were often a little bit lumpy (which I didn't really mind.) The blender mixed all my ingredients well and overall I was very happy with the product.
Some other features that I have yet to mention are the "sucker" feet at the bottom which kept the blender in place and prevented it from moving around - it was a nice touch. Also, the product was easy to disassemble for cleaning uses which was very convenient.
2Tru is another one of the staple products in my makeup bag. Firstly I love the price of this product, it can be brought from Superdrug for just £1.99, it's a bargain worth trying out at least. Secondly, the ease of use and thirdly the results of the products application.
The packaging for this product is simple: a matte black applicator black bottle with a shimmery pink "2Tru" logo displayed on the front of the bottle. It looks a little cheap in all honesty and I brought this product simply to try out. That was five years ago and to this day I still continue to repurchase this product.
The top of the product screws off to reveal a strong and sturdy applicator stick/wand. The thing that I like about this product is that the applicator brush allows you to apply the product to your eyes with ease and precision. Perfect winged eye makeup every single time!
The formula for this product is excellent, it's not too runny and it dries very quickly. It doesn't need touching up throughout the day and the product can be removed easily via a makeup remover wipe. I found with a number of budget black eyeliners that the products looked very plastic and would often peel and flake off throughout the day - not with this product. The product looks just as amazing as when you first applied it, even at the end of a long day.
Another element that I'd really like to mention about this product is the longivity, I only find myself replacing a bottle of this every six months. So for the money and the quality you're playing, this product is really a no brainer!
I've been using this eyeliner for a while now and I haven't really ever used another black eyeliner, please bare that in mind when reading this review.
Firstly, I'd like to mention that the reason for this is because I use the product four or five times a week and it never seems to run out, it's one of those products that you'll never seem to finish using no matter how many times you use it. Secondly, the price is amazing for what you get, retailing around the £3 mark (you can't really go wrong, can you?)
I have the black eyeliner crayon in this range as I wanted something different from the Miss Sporty eyeliner pencil that I have used for so many years. The packagine is black in colour and the lid is very easy to remove, the writing on the packaging isn't particularly exciting or engaging but then again it is a budget eyeliner.
The product doesn't last long on the eyes at all, if I reapplied my eyeliner each and every time it wore off I'd have driven myself nuts. It's very disappointing in performance - yet I continue to use it? The application of the product is very easy, I feel as if I don't need to press and work the product into my waterline.
It's a cheap eyeliner, it's easy to apply. But it's rubbish.
Going through, puberty I had a lot of difficulties with underarm sweating. I worked out that at one stage, I could sweat through an entire t-shirt in eight minutes - even after applying antiperspirant. I tried everything to prevent my problem, and I mean everything from the leading antiperspirant deodorants to home remedies. My last resort was a visit to my local chemists, it seemed like I was the only teenager on the planet who seemed to be suffering from this - I was recommended Driclor.
It changed my life, and I say that because I went from wearing just black t-shirts to colourful vest tops and dresses again. I knew that I wouldn't have to be embarrassed or have to worry about developing sweat patches over the course of the day.
The product was very dull in appearance, but I was almost drawn to it because it looked medicated and at the time of purchase - I was convinced that I had a medical problem. The bottle is an average size for a roll on deodorant, but you can purchase Driclor in all different volumes now from when I first brought it about six years ago.
You are supposed to apply the product to your clean armpit before bed (the reason for this is explained in the leaflet that comes with the product.) I applied as directed and was at first sceptical about using this product because I had SO many failures with other products. I noticed the difference the very next day, I barely sweat for the first few days and after a week I didn't sweat at all!
You find that after using this product for a while, you use less and less to the point where I am now only using Driclor once a week, making this product great value for money. It's a miracle product and I've never seen anything quite like this product on the market, it's something that I'm happy to shout out about to friends who had/have a similar problem to me.
The only downside of using this product, is that if you use it too regularly, the product can burn your underarms making them very irritated, red and raw. If this is the case then you need to cut down on your usage.
My Filofax is one of the items I've purchased that I couldn't live without. I've been using my personal Filofax dairy for almost two years now and every Christmas/Birthday I seem to be asking for more paper/diary refills ect. They make ideal gifts and there are so many different styles to choose from!
I currently have the lilac personal Filofax with little yellow birds and white flowers on, it's girly and small enough to carry around in my handbag - I literally cannot leave the house without mine! I think that the great thing about the Filoxfax diaries is that you can tailor them to suit your needs. For example I use mine to organise my shifts at work and to write down little to-do lists, whereas my mother uses hers for her banking records and address book.
The quality of the paper and the diary itself is superb, it's definitely an item that I'd recommend to a fellow University student like myself. One that subject, I know a few fellow University friends who have brought a Filofax after seeing mine. Invest!
I'm a sucker for a bright red lipstick and it's something that I will wear next closest to every day. I'm always on the hunt to find a budget lipstick that suits my needs: a nice colour that's long lasting. I brought Kate Moss' lipsticks upon recommendation from a friend.
The colour range for these lipsticks are one hundred percent up my street. I originally opted for shade 001 and 004 because I couldn't decide between the two, 001 was a darker red shade and 004 was a dark purple shade.
The packaging is simple and sleek, the material of the casing doesn't feel cheap and it's black in colour with "Kate" hand written on the front of the casing lid. It's exactly the right size to carry around in your handbag or clutch bag if you're going out.
The first thing that I noticed about the product was the smell, it smells like watermelons but the scent isn't too strong for it to be considered overpowering. The product was very easy to apply to my lips, it wasn't waxy or drying and I could apply the colour exactly how I wanted it to in less than thirty seconds - ideal if you're on the go.
As for the longevity of this product I was more than impressed, I would apply the lipstick just before I started work and six hours later it would still be noticeably bright with little sign of wear - amazing. It's one of those lipsticks that I'll trust to last all day on my lips and I won't have to worry about touching up throughout the day.
I buy a lot of lipsticks (about one a week) and I have never used a product completely until I used shade 001. Since these two lipsticks, I have repurchased shade 001 and also tried shade 022 which is a pinker red. I'm very happy with both of these shades, however shade 004 failed to "wow" me.
The only downside of this product is that I find that it gets onto my teeth all the time and it's more than noticeable when it does happen. I've tried all the tricks of the trade to stop this from happening but nothing has really worked for me. However, after buying shade 022 I noticed that the product didn't stick to my teeth much at all and I only seem to find this problem with shade 001.
Overall, I'd recommend this lipstick to anybody. The results are amazing every single time and it'll be a product that I'll chose to repurchase over and over again.
Like most girls I am obsessed with my hair and getting it into the best possible condition. After years of bleaching and dying, I finally made the decision to shave off all my hair and regrow it - I am now currently growing my hair to donate to a cancer charity.
In the last five years, I've tried most hair masks and hair conditioners on the market but have never found one that really "wowed" me. I recently brought this product because I had great success with the "beautiful ends" shampoo and conditioner. I straighten my hair almost every day because I have a short, one length bob and it's the only thing I can really do with my hair 'style wise.' Despite using heat defence sprays, I still find that the ends of my hair can get a little dry between trims. I needed a product that would really focus on the ends of my hair to stop them from drying out and looking awful.
The thing with hair masks, is that I usually keep them on my hair all day (about 8+ hours) when I have no plans for the day. This way I can get the very most out of the hair mask and my hair will always feel amazing.
The product itself comes in a very smart rounded tub, after using the product I usually wash out the container and use them as storage containers - recycling friendly! The tub is bright red and eye catching, easy to store etc etc etc
The product itself is a rose pink in colour, the texture is quite thick and the one factor that is apparent in all Herbal Essences products - the smell. The scent is very floral and feminine and as I applied the product to my hair I felt it moisturising my own hands! It was easy to scoop out of the tub and I applied it all over my hair paying special attention to the ends of my hair.
After eight or so hours, I took the product out of my hair and there was such a noticeable difference between the condition of my hair before and after I used the product. My ends felt significantly less damaged and my hair was so soft that I couldn't stop touching it. Overall it's one of the best hair products I have ever used and I'd highly recommend it to somebody with dry or damaged hair. My profile picture on my DooYoo account is living proof!
I heard so many great things about this mascara that I just had to buy it for myself. I don't usually spend this much on mascaras (RRP £11) but after watching a few YouTube videos I just had to try it out.
I liked the style and the packaging of this product, it looked like a higher end mascara. The gold text on the black bottle really stood out for me and it made me even more excited to try it out.
The brush was a long and thin with tiny bristles that catch every lash. They coated my lashes quickly and they were more than noticeably longer and thicker once I had finished my first set of eyelashes. My lashes didn't clump together and the looked a lot fuller and more defined after using the product - it did exactly what you'd imagine your dream mascara would do. I also found that if I accidentally got any of the product on my face, I could remove it painlessly with a cue tip.
The one and only downside to this product is that it's a pain to take off with makeup remover wipes. I'd find myself vigorously rubbing my eye at the end of the day in order to remove the product from my lashes. It got to a point where I'd still have noticeable 'panda eyes' a few days after using the product - nightmare!
I fell in love with this product the first time I used it I always get complements about how long and thick my eyelashes look when I use the product. Yes! They're my real eyelashes! Definitely a product that I will continue to buy again and again and again. If you're currently using Benefits "They're Real!" mascara, then this is a cheaper dub of the product, it lasts a lot longer too.
Like the other reviewer of this product, I too received this scrub as a Christmas present. The Soap and Glory brand had a great reputation but it's not something that I would have brought myself as it was a little out of my price range.
Up until this point, I had never used a body scrub before and after using this product I almost felt as if I had missed out on some magical part of my life! I was expecting the product to be of a runny liquid and I would lather it onto my legs - I was wrong! The product was thick in texture, a gritty sandy colour which smelt great! I rubbed the product into my legs after wetting my hands and felt as if I had lost a few layers of skin in the process. My legs felt so clean after using this product - I've never used a product quite like it before.
The packaging however was a little dull, although I have found a similar product in the same range which comes in a pink packaging. I much prefer that product now to this one.
This product is great for shaving uses, however I'd recommend the other scrub in this range as it smells a lot nicer, it's pink and much more girly! It's worth splashing out for and I have since repurchased this product.
I am a huge fan of Barry M nail varnishes and I believe that they're some of the best, most affordable nail varnishes on the market. I brought the shade 'Gold Mine' for a New Years Eve party last year and I was very impressed with my results.
I've never bought a glitter nail varnish before so I was sceptical as to how the glitter in this product would shine through on my nail. The shade 'Gold Mine' has a black base with small gold hexagonal gold pieces mixed in. I first applied the base coat (Barry M) and applied one layer of the 'Gold Mine' shade. I did however feel like the product needed a second coating which is what most nail varnish brands recommend that you do regardless. After a second coat of the 'Gold Mine' shade, my nails were opaque - black with gold glitter. The glitter catches the light perfectly and they looked a little glamorous - I was very impressed with the overall appearance of the product.
The product was just the right consistency, it wasn't too thick or too thin so it applied very easily. They took a little longer to dry than I would have liked - about half an hour in total.
The product was definitely long lasting, it took a few days for it to chip and it was a week until I felt like I had to reapply the colour. The only element of this product that I didn't like was that it was such a pain to remove! I'd find that the black base would be easy to get off but the gold glitter would be much more persistent. However, after a bit of research I fond that if you soak a cotton wool pad around the nail and left for ten minutes the product would easily come off. Still, it's a lot of effort just for a nail varnish.
I brought this product on offer at my local drug store. I was really excited about using the product because I've had a great amount of success with the E45 cream. I clearly was expecting too much of this product though.
The product's appearance is rather dull looking (but then again E45 don't have the most exciting packaging style.) It was small, compact and ideal for a small bag or even for your coat pocket. The packaging material was a little cheap, it was made of a really light hollow plastic which I didn't like.
However I was more than disappointed with the product overall. I was expecting the product to moisturise my dry and cracked lips but it didn't really do anything for me. The texture was a little "waxy" for my liking and I felt as if I really had to work the stick into my lips to make it feel like I had any of the product on; even after that I felt the need to keep reapplying. Very disappointing.
The product didn't have a scent which was fine for me as I was only expecting the product to moisturise my lips (in which it didn't.) I now use the product underneath my lipsticks, but I still don't feel as if it is benefiting my lips or the longwear of my lipsticks at all.
