I bought these nail polish remover pads from the chemist in town and they cost me £1.99 which I thought was not too bad for a pack of 20 pads , considering I don't paint my nails everyday these last me about a month and I have bought them before just for the fact that I hate the hassle of using cotton buds and nail polish remover.
I hate the smell and hate the mess, with these its easy to get a pad out of the tub and wipe over the nails before throwing away. There's no hassle of spilling the nail polish liquid as this is already in the pads.
These are pre soaked in nail polish remover and can be popped into your handbag if your going out and staying at a friends over night , or for packing and taking with you when you go on holiday. These are acetone free so don't smell as bad as the liquid nail polish remover and contain vitamin E and moisturisers. I have to say that one wipe doesn't get all the polish off and two or three may be needed depending on the colour and brand of nail polish that you have used.
I like these handy travel packs and they can be bought at Boots chemist and online from Amazon and other beauty sites.
Propylene Carbonate, Isopropyl Alcohol, Alcohol/Denat, Triethylhaxanoin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Parfum.
All in all I buy these for the convenience of having them in my handbag as they are useful and work well.
My old hairdryer steadily got noisier and noisier and when it started to rattle like there was something loose inside I decided that it probably wasn't that safe to use any more and bought this Asda hairdryer for £7.99 to replace it.
I thought the price was good and didn't really expect it to last that long but six months later it is still going strong and has been dropped on the floor and gets used everyday by both myself and my daughter, so its been quite a durable product.
It comes in black and is made of plastic and feels quite chunky to hold, you can feel the weight of it in your hand as its not as light as my old one that broke.
It has two buttons on the handle and one above these which you press to cool the heat down if it gets to hot when you have it on full heat.
The settings are simple the bottom button switches it on and has two speeds 1 and 2 , then the button above that has the heat control up to three, the third can get a little hot if you hold it too near to your head when drying and the cool down button does come in handy then.
The nozzle at the front can be aimed at the hair to dry it straight if your using a comb or curled under if your layering or using a curling brush to shape the hair whilst drying, personally I just dry it then straighten it so on full blast for me it takes about five minutes or less to dry my shoulder length hair.
I like this hairdryer as its fast drying, cheap to replace and simple to use.
I can recommend.
One of my presents this christmas was this Trust chat pack as I have friends abroad and family at the other end of the country so we chat on Skype regularly.
My daughter already has this pack and when we chatted I used to get crackles on the connection on my side but she didn't so she said she would buy me a pack for my christmas present.
The pack costs around £20 depending on where you buy it from, its available online at Amazon and you can buy it from Morrisons in the store.
It comes well packaged in a sturdy cardboard box and you get a webcam and a headset together in the pack, with an instructuion leaflet, both the webcam and headset are USB plug and play so you don't need a disc to upload anything and they both work instantly when you plug them in.
The quality of the headset is very good, it's comfortable and adjustable to the size of your head, the speakers are padded for comfort and the sound is clear and you can chat away with out any background crackles going on. You can also hear things a lot clearer than some other cheaper versions like I have before.
I also listen to music on these and the quality of sound is great.
The webcam is also plug and play and once you have plugged it into your USB port and opened Skype you can see a little window with yourself inside and the colour is good and clear.
The webcam can be moved around until you get a good picture and it can sit on top of your screen or on it's own stand.
The only thing I don't like about this is that it doesn't light up to show you that it's on or off and there is no on off button to use, it's just there when you plug in and chat.
It works well on Skype and MSN messenger and you can chat away and see the person you are chatting too as well as hear them clearly and they can hear you.
I have friends in the USA and we chat often as it's free on Skype to call so this pack is getting it's good useage.
All in all it's an affordable and good quality voice pack that can be easily installed and used immedialtely to keep in touch with friends.
I wanted this pack as my daughter has had hers for over a year and I've seen how well it works so asked for one of my own and now I'm happy to use this every day to chat to family and friends and I can recommend it to you.
I love the Sanex range as they are made to use if you have sensative skin and their ingredients are gentle on your skin and PH balanced.
I like the scent of this bath gel as it is a nice fresh scent, not flowery or fruity but the same fresh scent of the other Sanex range of skin care and bath products.
I paid £2.69 for a 600ml bottle from the co-op which isn't too bad to pay for a bath gel.
The ingredients are :-
Sodium Laureth Sulfate
All these make up the thick gel which you only need a little of , it doesn't foam up like most other bath products and has less ingredients than most others too, so that it breaks down in the water easier for less harm to the environment .
This has to be worth the price as there are too many chemicals, flushed down the toilets and drains that end up in the sea.
This is gentle on the skin and when used the skin feels clean and soft after, it doesn't dry the skin so you don't need moisuriser on after or body lotion .
I like this product and can recommend as it is something I will buy again .
I love popping into Superdrug when I'm in town as you can get some really good beauty products at a good price and this Superdrug Tropical Cocktail Peel Off Face Mask is only 99p which is a great buy for a face mask and its good to be able to take the time to pamper yourself a little especially just before the christmas hecticness thats about to decend on us all.
I love to just unplug the phone and chill out when I use a face mask as its guaranteed I'll get it on and someone will call, then you have to try and chat to them and ruin the smoothness of the face pack as it dries on your face.
This has a nice scented coconut and pineapple scent which you notice as soon as you open the packet, the face mask inside is a nice thick consistancy which you can get a little at a time on to your hand and smooth over your face to cover the whole area of the face avoiding the eyes and lips, once it is on you just can then chill out and listen to some soothing music as the mask dries on your face.
You can feel this tightening as it dries which is always a good sign, this is good for my sensative skin as somethings I buy sting as they dry and I have to wash them off as soon as this happens otherwise I end up with red blocthy skin with the ingredients that irritant me, with this however I just feel the tightening of the skin and know its doing it's job.
When it's dried fully you can then try and peel it off in one go, which I can't do and it broke in places as I took it off, which isn't really an issue it's just fun to try and get it off in one piece, as I'm sure we all try too.
After peeling, wash the face in warn water and dry and moisurise if needed. I find that I don't have to moisurise as this leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft and very clean. Without red blotches or drying my skin out.
For the price it's brilliant and I can recommend, if your looking for a good last minute xmas present then a basket of these face mask peels and other beauty products in a little wrapped basket is always a good option.
I bought this from ebay for £2.99 which was a lot cheaper than buying from the body shop but I had to pay for postage so it ended up costing me £4.99 which is still a bit cheaper than the retail price, so it pays to shop around.
The lip gloss is thick and can be squeezed onto the finger and applied to the lips, this way you get an even coverage without it beeing too thick on the lips , but you can squeeze it from the tube if you prefer and it that you do this, but I like to use a little and try and get a natural look without plastering the lip gloss on.
There are a few colours to choose from as it comes in a variety of choices.
So , theres something for everyone to choose from. this has a passion fruit scent but to be honest I can't really tell this from smelling it as it's not a strong scent.
I find that I have to re-apply this often as it leaves marks on cups and glasses when your drinking which I'm not too keen on doing as I hate that when visitors come to my house and do it, so don't like to do this myself.
For evening wear this is not too bad as it looks good on and protects the lips against the cold air in winter, it's easy to pop in your pocket or handbag so you can re-apply it when needed.
It isn't tested on animals and keeps the lips moisurised when worn.
For me this is an average product that I'm not really happy to recommend, but if like me you buy it cheap from ebay then it's not too bad.
Polybutene (Binder), Dextrin Palmitate (Emulsifying Agent), Ricinus communis (Castor Oil) (Emollient), Hydrogenated Polyisobutene (Emollient), Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2 (Emollient), Diisostearyl Malate (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Lanolin (Emollient), Sclerocarya birrea (Marula Oil) (Skin Conditioning Agent), Persea gratissima (Avocado Oil) (Emollient), Mica (Opacifier), Aroma (Flavour), Propylparaben (Preservative), Ammonium Glycyrrhizate (Flavour), Hexyl Cinnamal (Fragrance Ingredient), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Geraniol (Fragrance Ingredient), Eugenol (Fragrance Ingredient), Citral (Fragrance Ingredient), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone (Fragrance Ingredient), CI 77891 (Colour), CI 15850 (Colour), CI 19140 (Colour), CI 42090 (Colour).
I often buy things from the body shop, as I like to go and look around the shop when I'm in town , the shops always smelll so lovely inside and I never seem to get out of the door without purchasing something to treat myself with , the last time I went to town and went in the shop I bought this Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Lip Butter. It cost me £4 which is a little expensive for a lip gloss but they are made from natural ingredients so you pay a little extra, which I don't mind doing when I'm in a pamper myself mood.
The tubs are 10ml which isn't a large tub but this spreads thinly and evenly over the lips so you don't really need much of it.
The butter inside has a nice thick consistancy and won't spill out . It can be applied by rubbing it on your finger and running your finger over your lips.
The lips absorb it quickly and it doesn't feel sticky or greasy like vascaline, but smooths the skin and softens , protecting it against the frost in winter and stopping the lips from cracking in the cold weather.
I carry this around in my handbag as it isn't too big and is handy to apply whever it feels like it's sunk into the lips and needs more.
The flavour is pink grapefruit but it doesn't taste too strong and it does smell lovely.
Once applied the lips look glossy and plumped so you don't really need to use lipstick in winter , you can use this and get the protection of the barrier from the cold.
I like this even though the price is a little high. I will buy it again and like the twist off and on lid which cuts down on the risk of spillages in my handbag.
I'm happy to recommend this to you.
I bought this lip lacquer from Ebay and it cost me £2.99 which I thought was a reasonable price to pay for a lip lacquer which comes in a little black shiney case and has a mirror in the lid when you open it up.
The case is a good size for any make-up bag and doesn't open easy which is great for carrying around with you as it won't open and spill in your handbag as I'm sure many of us has had that happen before.
I like the little mirror as you can just stop what your doing, open up the case and re-apply the lip lacquer, this is handy for me as I wear glasses and so I can see better when im reapplying this onto my lips when it feels like it has faded off.
This is a a little thinner than lipstick, but it isn't runny and doesn't feel sticky on the lips when you apply it.
I like the colour too although when you open the case it looks darker in the case than on the lips, but I like this too as you get the natural look, which enhances the lips without ending up looking too over the top, like with other bright colour lipsticks. I prefer the subtle, natural look so for me this is a good option.
The lip lacquer has so far lasted me four weeks and I use it everyday , it needs replaceing now so I am definately going to buy another one. There is a little brush inside too which you apply the lip lacquer with, this is a brush and not a stick with foam on it and the brush applies evenly and with just enough lip lacquer to get the natural look.
I love this product and as I live rural I don't have an Avon agent in my area but am happy that it is easily available on Ebay although you may have to settle for a different shade if it's not available , but for that price I'm happy to compromise.
I bought these cotton wool balls from Boots for 95p and the packet has 100 cotton wool balls inside the see through bag, which you have to tear open to get at them.
I use these for removing make-up and they are made from 100% cotton so are soft on the skin.
They aren't a large as other cotton wool balls you can buy and for changing babies nappies they aren't really sufficient as you need more then a few of these to get the task done, so this turns out to be a false economy bag if your buying them for nappy changing. I use baby wipes on my grandson which I find are more convenient than these cotton wool balls.
For make up removal these are quite good, they absorb the liquid remover quickly without falling to pieces or going to strands like some other brands you can buy, they are gentle on the skin and you can use one or two each eye for taking off your eyeshadow.
I also use these for cleansing the skin when using a cleanser and moisuriser , the only thing I don't like about these is the fact that the packaging doesn't reseal or have a draw string like some other brands, as once the bag is torn open the cotton wool balls can spill out or gather dust if you don't use them too often and have to be stored in something other than the plastic bag, so they don't get dirty.
A packet that you could reseal would be better, but you get what you pay for.
These are a basic cotton wool ball at a reasonable price, if your removing make-up with them then I can recommend, for using on babies or small children for washing faces and bottoms then I'd buy somthing different.
I am getting quite loyal to Boots products and have now bought more than several items from Boots where as before I used to go online and browse for beauty products, but seem to be able to find some really good items from Boots and this Boots Essentials Cucumber Eye Make Up Remover Gel is one of my finds.
It's from the essentail range and is such a bargain at £1.50 per 150ml bottle and now I have a loyalty card I can save my points and get this for 150 points, but I'm not sure yet how long it willl take me to get that many, but im not grumbling at having to pay £1.50 .
The bottle is plastic and green so you can recycle after it's empty and it has a flip up lid so you don't get spills. The liquid inside smells of cucumbers and is not too runny so that you can squeeze a little onto a cotton wool bud with out it running out of the bottle too quicky and going to waste.
You only need a little of the gel and then wipe the closed eye lid gentle without rubbing too hard as it removes the make-up quickly and efficiantly enough without having to scrub it off.
This is for all types of skin and is gentle to the skin too, I have sensative skin so have to be careful what I use especailly on my face where the skin seems to be more sensative than other places. This doesn't irritate the skin or leave it red and blotchy looking, but feels smooth after use and removes the make-up well.
It doesn't feel sticky and dries quickly after use.
It has extracts of cucumber and vitamins for the skin so feels good after using.
I'm happy to recommend this to you as for £1.50 you can't really go wrong.
I love this little make-up mirror I came across at Boots, as it's so handy to have with you in your make-up bag, not only is is handy to have a mirror to apply make-up or touch up your lipstick while your out, but this has two mirrors and one of them magnifies 2x which is great for me as I were glasses.
It's sometimes a little hard to put make-up on , especially eye liner without your glasses on.
With the magnifying mirror you can see better to apply your make-up.
You get the mirrors in a little plactic bag and the case of the compact is black, it opens outwards and the mirrors are at each side of the compact, one ordinary mirror and the other the magnifying mirror, it costs £5 which is not too much to pay for a little compact mirror case.
It's thin and sleek and fits nicely into my make-up bag for carrying around in my handbag and is handy for just whipping out and touching up your lipstick or eyeshadow if your out for the day.
I think this is a bargain and have used it often and will keep it in my make-up bag, you can buy them online from Boots.com or in the store and as it's in a compact which clicks shut tightly so it's something that's safe from damage as the mirrors are attached quite securely inside.
If you drop the compact they won't smash and as you only open the compact up to use the mirrors it's not something that is going to get scratched and knocked about, so for £5 I think this is a great idea and a durable product that I can recommend.
I bought this mascara from Boots.com and it cost me £15 and £2.95 delivery charge, but as I bought a few other items the delivery charge wasn't too bad a price to pay as it's less than the cost of my petrol money to get to town from where I live.
This mascara is in black which gives a good dramatic effect when applied onto the lashes for noticable lashes that look longer and thicker.
I like the chunky tube as it's easy to grab hold of and hold whilst your putting the strokes of mascara onto the lashes.
The brush is attached to the lid which is a twist on and off lid so there are not spills or the chance to lose the brush. I prefer the twist off lids with the brush attached to the pull off lids, as my grandchildren are sometimes tempted to play with my make-up bag if they get the chance of finding it lying around or on my dressing room table, so with this they can't get in it and waste it.
You don't really need a lot of applications for this to cover the lashes well, the consistancy of the mascara is not runny like some, but not too thick either, it comes onto the brush as you pull the lid up and once applied you can cover the lashes with two or three strokes, letting it dry between applications and then covering over again for a thicker more enhanced look.
This doesn't take too long to dry, just a few seconds and you can apply over again. I like the way it seems to lengthen the lashes into a nice curve and they look thicker with out any blobs or smudges, so you don't end up having to be too careful in applying like you do with the runny mascara which I struggle applying sometimes.
This is affordable and available online and at Boots .
You can also use this to touch up and cover over another mascara to get a dramatic effect .
I'm happy to recommend this to you.
I often use a eyebrow pencil as my eyebrows are changing colour a little with age and I like to highlight them when I do my make-up.
I bought this eyebrow pencil from Superdrug for £1 which you really can't grumble at that and it is a brunnette colour.
You can get blonde but this one when lightly applied will do nicely for my light brownish hair.
It has a little brush at the end and can be sharpened with a pencil sharpener, so that you can get a fine point on it and this makes it easier for applying.
I like this as you can press lightly on the pencil to apply it evenly and not to thickly onto your eyebrows then use the little brush to smooth the eyebrows into shape and see if you have missed any where and reapply if needed.
For a dramatic look you can press on a little harder and get a really good deep coverage.
I used this at halloween to emphasise my eyebrows when I went to a fancy dress party dressed as Morticia from the adams family.
Its affordable for anyone at a pound but it is not always in stock , but if you ask in superdrug I find the customer service is good and they will order for you if you want a few things at once.
Or they will tell you if they are expecting any of the stock in the store.
I like this one as it fits easily into your make-up bag and can be applied when needded, it doesn't fade and can be removed with soap and water.
For an easy to apply eyebrow pencil at a cheap price I recommend this one.
I bought these a while a go for £1.25 online and they are something I didn't really use a lot, I have to be honest and say I used them twice and found that it is easier for me to just grab hold of a toe to paint the nail than to fiddle around with trying to ge these E.L.F. Toe Separators to stay in place.
These are made of a foam and I found they wern't as flexible as I'd have liked them to be, I'm not really comfortable with these fitted between my toes as they annoy me as I can feel they are there and they slip sometime when you have to move around to paint your nails so that I have to keep adjusting them back into place as I'm doing my nails, which for me it's much simpler to just paint my toes nails without these on.
They also can't be washed so this also puts me off as they aren't very hygenic to keep for any length of time if your using them regularly on your feet.
On the other hand they seperate the toes nicely and when you can get them to stay in place you can paint the nails without getting the nail polish on to the skin of the other toes as your doing them one by one.
All in all I think they should have different sizes for the different sizes of feet that we all have, but I only found the one size and so for me this product isn't something I will be buying again and is one that I have used twice and then discarded.
I love this product it's a reasonable price of £7 or a little less if you shop around and can be bought online from Ebay or Amazon and in beauty product shops for the same price and it's covers really well.
I have bought this a few times and it's one of the beauty products I will keep buying as its always available and now that I have found the right colour for my skin tone it's something that when I apply it loooks natural and it covers the patches of skin on my face that have dried or gone a little red with aging, over the years you lose the tone and suppleness of the skin and this blends well and evenly over the skin to cover the blemishes to give you that youthful look again and also hides the wrinkles which are now begining to start to show as I get older.
I like the packaging as you can see the make-up inside so you can get the right shade for your skin tone. It doesn't take up much room in my make-up bag and is now an essential part of my make-up kit for when I go out anywhere to visit or for a night out.
The consistancy is very creamy and you only need a little bit to smooth over the skin as it spreads really thinly and covers quickly, so you don't need a lot of time to apply it . It gives an immediate effect of smoothness to the skin and you can see the results of before and after as you apply it.
It doesn't fade or streak on the face and the skin absorbs it quickly so it doesn't feel greasy, but the best thing I like about this product is the colour tones that match your natural skin colour and give a natural look as it's hard to tell you have this on if you get the right match for your skin.
There are lots of colours to choose from so it's easy to find a matching tone. I use the honey beige as I have a slightly tanned skin tone , I was using the sand colour tone previously but found that the honey beige looked a lot more natural on me, so now I stick to this tone.
There are 15 shades to choose from from a very light porcelain ivory to a deeper cocoa colour shade, so there is something for everyone's skin tone.
I am happy to recommend this to you.
