I am always concerned about the security of my car when I have to park it in notoriously bad areas near to me. I decided to invest in some added security for my car and opted for the Stoplock Pro steering lock which I purchased from Halfords for £49.99.
The Stoplock Pro Steering Lock is a two part device which has a yellow coloured sturdy security bar and a black coloured locking device. The security bar has a plastic coating to it which appears to cover a strong piece of metal and it is curved to allow you to fit within your steering wheel. The Stoplock logo is engraved down the bar. The locking device is comprised of two locking bars which wrap around the steering wheel and can be locked using a small key. This steering lock is Thatcham category 3 approved.
I use this Stoplock on my Ford C-max car and find it easy enough to wedge it into my steering wheel. It essentially locks onto the top of the steering wheel and slips under the bottom part of my steering wheel to make it impossible for potential thieves to drive the car away. In my personal experience I think this Stoplock is a brilliant locking device and I am always confident that my car is safe when using it. I also like the fact that this Stoplock is easy to store in the car and is quick and easy to use.
If you are concerned about the security of your car, then the Stoplock Pro Steering Lock is definitely for you. It is an easy and reliable way to protect against thieves and leaves you feeling at ease when you worried about leaving your car in a dodgy are of town. The Stoplock Pro Steering Lock gets a big thumbs up from me.
At this time of year it necessary to start trimming back hedges bushes and trees. My garden shears can deal with most of this work, but when you start trimming back thick or tough branches it is essential to have some stronger. My weapon of choice in the garden is the Qualcast Heavy Duty Lopper. This garden tool cost me £17.93 from Homebase.
These loppers have grey handles with green rubberised hand-grips at the ends which make it comfortable to handle them thanks to an ergonomic design. The name Qualcast appears in white letters on one of the handles. They are 72.5cm in length which helps get access difficult to reach places. The loppers weigh 0.91kg so are not too heavy to carry around, although this may change after a few hours of gardening. The blades are 145cm in length which again helps for difficult to reach places.
In my experience, I find these loppers to be sturdy and strong when it comes to dealing with thick branches in my garden and help clear away the overgrown area. I find that the blades are sharp and efficient at slicing through the overgrowth in my garden. There are of course some branches where I have had to use brute force to get these loppers to cut through, but this is to be expected with any loppers.
One thing that I would warn you about with these loppers is to make sure the bolts are fastened securely, there were a few occasions when I noticed them loosening which is a bit of a problem.
I found these Qualcast heavy duty loppers to be very robust and efficient in helping me to clear the overgrowth in my garden and leaving it looking neat and tidy.
I really enjoy orange flavoured drinks and so when I'm unable to buy Irn Bru in English shops, I usually buy Fanta Orange instead. A 2 litre bottle of Fanta will cost you £1.98 from Tesco, a 500ml bottle will cost £1.08 and a pack of 6x330ml cans costs £3.35.
The bottles and cans of Fanta all contain the blue Fanta logo on them, which is on an orange coloured background. The orange background features oranges, sunshine and bubbles with short messages such as no artificial flavours or colours. You can also find the ingredient and contact details on the labels. There is an orange screw cap on the bottles of Fanta.
Fanta orange is an orange flavoured fizzy drink which has a strong taste of orange due to the fizzy and sugary nature of the drink. It is tasty and pleasant to drink but I sometimes find that it is just too fizzy and sugary. Normally I would only drink Fanta if it was a hot day or if I had a hangover when it is satisfying to drink.
Fanta is tasty orange drink which I enjoy occasionally and is much better than most of the competitor orange flavoured drinks available on the market. If you are after a delicious orange drink then Fanta is a great choice.
Every now and then I like to treat myself to a fizzy sugary drink and as I'm originally from Scotland, I have a fondness for the popular Scottish drink Irn Bru which is manufactured by a company called A.G. Barr. I normally buy a 2 litre of Irn Bru which can be purchased in Tesco for £1.69. You can also buy a 500ml bottle for £1.08 or a 6 pack of cans for £3.35.
Irn Bru is a big selling drink in Scotland which sells more than Coca Cola does which is very impressive. When I have been up in Scotland you will notice how many people drink this drink and it comes in many different presentations such as 330ml cans, 500ml, 1litre, 2 litre plastic bottles and also 750ml glass bottles. Irn Bru is always controversial with its advertising campaigns which help to generate headlines.
The labeling for Irn Bru bottles and cans is quite distinctive with the name "IRN-BRU" in white letters on its side on a blue strip background. There is a small red box featuring the Barr logo on the blue strip. On either side of the blue strip is a silver figure of a man within a thin silver circle, which has an orange background. The diet version of Irn Bru has a white background instead of orange. The 2 litre bottles have a blue screw cap to allow easy access to this drink. The label also includes the ingredients for Irn Bru and the contact details for the manufacturer.
Irn Bru is an orange coloured drink which has a tangy taste to it which I think is refreshing and very tasty. I think that most people either love or hate Irn Bru due to the distinctive taste. If I wake up with a hangover, I find that a glass of Irn Bru helps ease my sore head.
In my opinion, Irn Bru is brilliant fizzy drink which has a great tangy taste. I love to treat myself to Irn Bru every now and think it is a great value fizzy drink which I would recommend to other to try.
I like fruit drinks but don't want something with too much sugar in it, so I normally buy Robinsons orange fruit drink. A 1 litre bottle of this Robinsons drink recently costs me £1 from Tesco and is currently available on a special offer.
Robinsons orange fruit drink comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a blue screw cap. The front label on the bottle features the Robinsons logo on the top in white letters and a green background. In the middle of the label are the words orange and no added sugar. In the right side of the label you will find the nutritional details for a 250ml serving. There are also images of oranges on this label so that it is clear to customers that this is an orange flavoured drink.
The back label on the bottle features the ingredients, nutritional details per 100ml of concentrate, as well as stating that you should dilute I part concentrate with 4 parts water. It is advisable to add extra water if you give this drink to children. You should also shake the bottle before pouring as it can you will sometimes notice a sediment forming at the bottom of the bottle.
A 1 litre bottle of this orange drink will provide 20 servings, so normally lasts me a long time. There are no nasty artificial colours or flavours which is great especially if you give this to children.
I think that this is a tasty orange drink which satisfies my thirst and it is even nicer with ice cubes added to it during a hot summer day. It is easy to quickly dilute the drink and can be adjusted to taste if required. This is a great alternative to fizzy drinks and a more healthy option for children. At £1 for a litre bottle, this orange drink is great value and one that I would recommend to everyone.
One thing that all dog owners require is a quality dog lead so that you can take your dog for a walk knowing that you are in control of your dog and they won't run away. My wife and I recently bought a Flexi classic retractable lead from Pets at Home, for our staffie dog, which cost us £16.49 for a medium size lead.
The Flexi retractable lead is a popular brand of dog lead which comes in a selection of different colours, red, black and blue. It is a thick plastic device with a circular section in which the lead is enclosed and there is a protruding handle with two buttons for operating the dog lead. The Flexi logo appears in red letters on a silver background label on the bottom of the circular part of the dog lead.
This dog lead is an extra strong dog lead which can be used for dogs of different weights and breeds. There are three different sizes, small which is suitable for dogs weighing up to 12kg, Medium which is suitable for dogs weighing up to 20kg and large which is suitable for dogs weighing up to 50kg.
The medium size lead which I purchased has a 5metre cord lead which comes with a quick release mechanism allowing you to lock the lead temporarily with a push down button or permanently with a push forward lock.
My little Staffie may be a medium size dog, but she is very boisterous and energetic, so this Flexi dog lead is very useful for keeping her under control. I think that the handle on this dog lead is ergonomically designed and does not leave you with rope burn marks on your hands like a normal dog lead would, especially with a dog that pulls like mine does. The lock buttons means that I can control the length of lead and keep my dog at a suitable length for either pavements or parks.
In my experience, the Flexi retractable lead is a great sturdy lead for dogs which offers great versatility and is easy to use. I find it very valuable when using it with my dog. Although it may be a bit expensive compared to other dog leads, it is well worth the extra money.
As my wife and I have a big garden we wanted to have lights in garden which provide some illumination at night. The solution to our problem was to buy some garden solar glow lights which I have seen before in other gardens. On a recent visit to Homebase I found soft glow solar garden lights which seemed to be a suitable product for my garden. These lights normally cost £5.99, but are currently on sale at £2.99 so I bought 12 of them.
These garden solar lights are silver coloured plastic and have an adjustable height of between 23 and 34cm. At the top of the lights is a circular box containing the section which emits the light. This section has a silver lid on the top with a black panel which collects the solar energy during daylight hours. The lights have an automatic dawn sensor and have batteries which last for 6 hours with a battery life of about 2 years. The lights have a spiked bottom to them to allow you to push them deep into the ground.
I found these solar lights easy to insert into the ground and adjust if required. I have discovered that it best to place the lights in an area of the garden which gets sufficient light otherwise they won't charge up enough and therefore will not light up at night.
Although these lights are not powerful enough to allow you to sit in your garden and have parties at night, they are good enough to help guide you through your garden at night so that you won't trip and fall over anything.
I think that these solar lights from Homebase are great value, especially if you buy them in the sale. They are easy to use, require no wires and provide much needed illumination to my garden. I recommend them to everyone.
I have suffered from dandruff in the past and as a result have tried a number of different shampoos. One of the better shampoos I tried is Head & Shoulders Anti Dandruff Mens Shampoo. This shampoo cost me £4.99 for a 500ml bottle from Tesco.
Head & Shoulders Anti Dandruff Mens Shampoo comes in a white plastic bottle, with a blue flip open lid. The blue Head & Shoulders logo can be found near the top of the bottle, with the words, anti-dandruff shampoo, underneath in smaller letters, At the bottom of the bottle, it states that this shampoo is for men. There is an image of running water splashing, on the bottle which I guess represents using the shampoo in the shower.
The back of the bottle states that this shampoo is for men and will give you healthy looking hair which starts with the scalp. Apparently it contains a proven HydraZinc formula which tackles the cause of dandruff head on from the 1st wash, and will get rid of flakes and help to relieve dryness, itchiness and tight scalp. This bottle states that this shampoo has a gentle pH balance which is suitable for everyday use.
This shampoo is has a light green colour to it and is easy to use. It has a bit of a minty scent to it and is not too overpowering. Once you squirt it out of the bottle you apply it to your hair you massage it to your scalp. I leave it for a 3-4 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with water. As with all shampoos, if you get any in your eyes, you should rinse with water.
I found that my hair was nice and clean after using this shampoo with a smooth silky feel. It definitely does a great job of keeping my hair clean and free of dandruff. After continued use, I noticed that my dandruff had disappeared and was no longer a problem, which is brilliant.
I'm not an expert on shampoos, but I like Head & Shoulders Anti Dandruff Mens Shampoo and think that it is very effective. One issue I have is that the scent is a medicinal smell as opposed to a pleasant fruity one which you associate with many other shampoos. In general this a good shampoo which I would be happy to use again.
Now that spring is upon us and the days are lighter for longer, it's time to start tending to the garden. One thing that I use to help grow my plants and vegetables is Miracle-Gro All Purpose Plant Food. This type of Miracle-Gro cost me £5.49 from my local Homebase.
The Miracle-Gro All Purpose Plant Food which I purchased comes in a carton containing 1kg of the product in two 500g plastic bags. There is a thin green strip along the top of carton and a large strip of yellow at the bottom. The miracle-Gro log appears in white on a black background across the green and yellow strips, on the front of the carton with the words 'all purpose soluble plant food' near the bottom. There are images of flowers at the bottom of the carton.
This is apparently the number one selling plant food, trusted by gardeners nationwide and is supposed to grow plants twice as big (versus unfed plants), helping to make them bigger, lusher plants with noticeably more blooms.
Miracle-Gro All Purpose Plant Food is in the form of blue crystals, so you need to follow the directions carefully to be able to use it properly. The directions for use state that you should dissolve in water and then use a watering can or hose pipe to add to the plants. You are supposed to feed every two weeks during the period of March to September. This plant food also contains NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium) with trace elements. There is a helpful guide on the carton indicating the ratio of granules to water to use for different flowers and vegetables. It comes with a plastic scoop to make it easy to handle when measuring out. This best time to start using this plant food is when you see the first flowers appear on your flowers and vegetables.
If you are interested in the ingredients of this Miracle-Gro, you can find them on the carton. As you would expect, the ingredients can be quite toxic so this plant food should be kept out of the reach of children.
My experience of using this plant food is that it is straight forward to prepare and easy to apply to the flowers and vegetables in my garden. I have noticed that the flowers and vegetables have grown a lot better than they did the previous year since using Miracle-Gro. I don't think I would go as far as saying that they grew twice as big, as claimed by the manufacturers of this plant food, but it was a visible improvement which I was very pleased with.
When it comes to plant food, I was impressed by the improvement in growth of my flowers and vegetables after using Miracle-Gro All Purpose Plant Food. It makes the growing process easier and achieves great results. This is a product which all gardeners should definitely be using.
My staffie dog is very boisterous and energetic who loves playing with her toys. In order to make sure that she is occupied when my wife and I are not at home, we bought her a Kong dog toy which is great at keeping her busy and entertained. I purchased this dog toy from Pets at Home for £6.99 for the medium size Kong.
The Kong dog toy is bulbous egg shaped with three rounded areas to it and is hollow inside. It looks a bit like three balls squashed together and has small hole at one end and a larger hole at the other end. The Kong is made from non-toxic rubber and is red in colour. When we bought this toy, it came with a cardboard backing to it which features a red Kong logo on the front. The cardboard has a white background with some red colour at the bottom of the card as well as a few images of dogs and basic instructions on how to use this.
My wife and I only use this Kong toy when we are leaving our excitable dog on her own in the house. We normally have a box of Kong biscuits, which are specifically made biscuits for these toys, ready to stick inside the toy before we leave the house. The Kong biscuits fit snugly in the Kong toy, but we sometimes use other types of dog biscuits and treat which work just as well. It is possible to stick paste food in the Kong, but I prefer not to as my dog would make a mess in the house with that type of food.
My dog loves this toy and will push it around the hallway, licking, biting and chewing it trying to squeeze any treats out of it. This is a sturdy toy as my dog has used this toy for over a year now and it shows no signs of damage, apart from a few scrapes on it.
This Kong dog toy is a great toy for dogs and one that my dog absolutely loves and she gets excited just at the sight of it. It is money well spent which helps keep our dog entertained when she is home alone. I recommend this to everyone.
In my house, one of the household chores which I don't mind too much is dusting as it is normally quick and easy to do. However it is essential to use a decent duster to achieve the best results. On a recent visit to Tesco, I decided to try and save some money and buy a pack of 5 Tesco Value Dusters which cost me only 71p.
These dusters come in a clear cellophane wrapper with the Tesco Value logo on the top of the pack with the word 'duster' in large letters on a red background and the words '5 dusters for cleaning and polishing' underneath that. This is very basic looking packaging. The dusters are yellow in colour like most dusters with a red stitched trim around the edge.
Once I opened the pack and started using these dusters I discovered that they were of poor quality and were quite thin. I found that these dusters were not very durable and it wasn't long before they started to tear. Another problem was that they were not very good at picking up dust and seemed to only be able to pick up a small amount of dust before the dust fell off the dusters. I had to dispose of them after each use, which I think is a waste of money.
I feel that it is better to spend the extra money to get higher quality dusters which are thicker and more durable which can retain more dust and more importantly can be washed and used again. Sometimes Value products are not economical and that is the case with these Tesco Value dusters. Don't waste your money on these dusters.
One product in my kitchen which I could not live without is wrapping foil. My wife and I normally buy Tesco Value wrapping foil which we think is great value. It costs 90p for a roll which is 25 metres of foil at a width of 290mm.
Like any other Tesco Value product, this product has a basic look to it. The foil is wrapped around a cardboard tube and is covered by a cellophane wrapping. This wrapping features the Tesco Value logo on it as well as the words 'wrapping foil' in white letters on a red background.
I use this foil for covering plates or bowls of food and sometimes sandwiches with the purpose of keeping the food fresh and help to maintain the temperature of the food. Although this is a value range product, it is a great foil and easy to use. As it does not come in a box, there is no serrated edge to tearing the foil, so I normally tear myself or use scissors to cut it.
This foil is actually very effective and will keep cooked meals warm if you need to leave it for someone else who is not home yet. As the foil is 25 metres long, it means that it last for ages which is a bonus especially as the barbeque season is nearly here and I will be using this foil quite a lot to cover sausages and other barbeque food.
Despite being a cheap value brand from Tesco, this foil is great at covering food and keeping fresh and warm for use later. It will last you for ages and is something that I would recommend to everyone.
The Tesco value range has some good products, but there are also some awful ones. One of the rubbish ones is the Tesco Value Swing Bin Liners which are not the best to use when it comes to your household rubbish. These bin liners from Tesco and vary in cost depending how many bin liners are in a pack. A pack of 50 costs 83p.
These bin liners come in a roll with a paper wrapping around them. The paper wrapping features the Tesco Value logo on it with swing bin liners underneath it in red coloured letters, with the number of bin liners written on the wrapper as well.
The bin liners are easy to separate due to the perforated edge between each bin liner. They are not the best sized bin liners because they are specific for bin liners, but are able to hold a fair amount of rubbish. However they are thin and flimsy so I find that they tear quite easily which means that you end up spilling rubbish all over the floor. I then have to use another bin liner to double bag the rubbish in order to keep the rubbish contained until I can stick it in the big bin outside of my house. There are no drawstrings on the bin liners to help tie them up when they are full which is annoying and makes it problematic when carrying them.
I think that Tesco Value Swing Bin Liners may be cheaper in price, but they are flimsy and weak bin liners which are not suitable for holding rubbish properly without tearing. It is advisable to spend more money and buy more expensive, stronger bin liners more suitable for storing your rubbish.
When I was growing up, my dad always used Magic Tree air fresheners in his car to help make his car smell nicer. Now that I have my own car, I have decided to buy a Magic Tree air freshener as well and selected the new car scent. You can buy Magic Tree air fresheners for 97p from amazon and other similar website.
These air fresheners are so called, because they are shaped like a tree. They come in polythene wrapping stapled to a cardboard backing. The cardboard is coloured red with a yellow coloured flap over the polythene wrapping. This flap features the white Magic Tree logo on a red background. There is a tear line which you tear along which releases the scent, when you want to start using the air freshener. There is a rubber string around the top of the Magic Tree to allow you to hang it up and I usually hang it from my rear view mirror as this helps permeate the scent around the front of the car where I sit.
Magic Tree air fresheners come in a selection of scents such as vanillaroma, new car scent, forest fresh and bouquet and the name of the scent can be found at the
Although Magic Trees are normally used in cars, they can also be used at home or at work. The cardboard backing states that these air fresheners last for weeks in home, car and office and feature images of different locations for their use. I can personally confirm that they do last for weeks and my new car scent was very pleasant smelling as soon as I started using it, if maybe slightly intense at first. The scent is similar to what new cars smell of when you get into them, hence the name of the scent and is obvious as soon as I enter my car. My friends and colleagues have commented on how nice my car smells when they are in my car, which is a good indication that the Magic Tree is doing its job.
Magic Tree air fresheners are great as masking any nasty odours in your car as well as home and work. They help to make my car smell pleasant and it is a sumptuous sensation on the nose whilst I'm driving. I have no reservations in recommending this air freshener to everyone and think you will definitely notice the difference, whether it be at home, at work or in the car.
As my wife is smaller than me in height, she finds it difficult to reach high cupboards and shelves. It means that when it comes to decorating, I always have to work on the ceiling and tops of the walls, whilst my wife does the easy to reach areas. We decided that it was time to get a stool or small step ladders so that my wife could extend her reach and found a chrome step stool from Argos which cost us £29.99.
This step stool comprises of two decent sized steps with a black rubber non-slip tread and is held together by a solid steel frame. There are two separate legs at the front of the stool and at the back the two legs have a joined support. The legs have rubber on the bottom for extra grip. However the best thing about this step stool is that is easy to fold away for storage, so it fits nicely in my storage cupboard.
When it comes to using this step stool, I find that they have a good weight to them and my wife and I feel confident using them. The weight of this step stool is 4.8kg and so is not too heavy to carry. It can support a weight of up to 150kg. You have to make sure the clicks properly into the plastic safety catch so that it doesn't slip during use and this catch is easy to release so that you can fold away them away again. The rubber non-slip tread means that you won't lose your footing whilst on the stool. I like the curved top handle which I use as a rest for my legs when on the top step for added support. It also serves as a handle when carrying the step stool when it is folded.
In my opinion, this step stool from Argos has proven very useful for both my wife and I. It means that we can decorate with ease and not have to struggle to reach high areas. It also comes in handy for reach the tops of wardrobes and shelves that proved difficult beforehand. The fact that they are lightweight to carry means that it can be used for multiple jobs around the house. A big thumbs up from me for this great value step stool.
