      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Really nice EDT, would purchase again when on offer.

      DESCRIPTION

This is an Eau De Toilette spray from Cacharel called "Amor Amor". I have the 30ml variety and I purchased this product after seeing it on offer whilst at a Superdrug till last year, I've been wearing it regularly ever since and still have a third of the bottle left. Here are my thoughts.

      PRICE

You can currently purchase this product for £13.50 from Boots I think I paid £10 for mine when it was on offer in Superdrug and so it may be worth shopping around.

      PACKAGING

My perfume bottle came housed in a small mirrored cardboard box. On the fron was a red rose with the name "Amor Amor" in large letters, at the bottom it says "Eau De Toilette" and the fact there is 30ml of product. On the back of the box is an ingredients list, manufacturer details and the companies website - www.cacharel.com.

The perfume itself comes in a small dark red see through bottle with a silver atomiser on the top. Around the atomiser is also a metal coil though I took mine off because it was annoying and I didn't actually know why it was there? The name of the perfume is also on the front of the bottle and there is a rose icon on the back.

      SMELL

This fragrance is described as a "fruity floral" fragrance and I would say that after wearing the product for a while this is definitely a good description. The top notes are pink grapefruit, blood orange and mandarin, this is the strength of the EDT and the scents that linger the longest, I can still smell the fruityness on my skin late in the day and whilst faded it is still a very nice smell. Heart notes of jasmine help add the floral side to the fragrance and mixed with the cedar and sandalwood (I love sandalwood) I feel this helps provide the EDT with real integrity. The heart notes definitely suck you in and I've been complimented on the perfume by my fella on several occasions. The heart notes are what remain strongest when the fragrance begin to fade and overall I would definitely describe this as a daytime fragrance, it is not strong enough for night time.

      STAYING POWER

Despite being an EDT and not and Eau De Parfum I still feel this is a pretty strong fragrance upon after the first spray. When first applied I feel the fragrance remains strong for the first couple of hours but then it does begin to fade, at the start where you can smell the aroma around you after 3 hours or so you only smell it when you happen to catch it which I find quite nice. For example if I'm pulling my hair out of my face I will often catch the scent from the wrists. This is great because it means when my fella gets close I know he can smell it too, hence all the compliments haha. I would say after about 7 hours the smell has all but gone but I still feel this is a good staying power for an EDT compared to some others I have used.

      OVERALL

I would definitely buy this product again when on offer, I'm not somebody that spends lots of money of perfume because I tend to cheat and ask for expensive perfumes as birthday/christmas presents but I was really happy with this impulse buy, it's a lovely fruity and floral fragrance and this is very much the sort of perfume I go for, it would make a lovely present for somebody too in my opinion as it is a very universal fragrance that could be worn by young or older women.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Brilliant everyday oral care product!

      DESCRIPTION

This is a waxed and mint flavoured dental floss from the brand "Wisdom". The floss variety from wisdom is the same as their tape but slightly thinner making it easier to get between the teeth. I had a massive fear of the dentist for most of my life but about 4 years ago I finally started going back and confronted my fear, since then I've been trying my utmost to take care of my teeth and so flossing has become a regular routine.

      PRICE

      £1 from Wilkinsons.

      PACKAGING

The product comes attatched on a small piece of cardbaord with the manufacturer details and products claims on the back. I do find the cardboard annoying to be honest because there's no need for it, there's a small plastic section on the cardboard that holds the dental floss too but again I feel there is no need as they floss itself is housed in a small green plastic round case with a flat bottom so you can stand the product up, I feel it could be sold like this alone but hey ho. On the front of the green plastic is a "Wisdom" logo and to open the floss there is a small indent to fit your nail to flick open the clickable lid. When opened you can see a small line of floss ready to be pulled and there is also a small metal section with a raised piece where you pull the floss to cut it to the desired length. This part of the packaging is very simple and effective.

      PERFORMANCE

I can't fault this floss, I've tried several over the past few years but I always purchase this wisdom variety if it is in the shop I am in at the time. The minty flavour provided by the floss makes the whole experience a bit more bearable though I must admit the mint tastes very artificial to me, I still prefer the added flavour though compared to the plain variety. The floss is probably no more than a millimetre across and it slides between my teeth very easily, I also have a crowned tooth and so I much prefer this thin floss because I can be a lot more careful around the crown. The floss easily picks up plaque or bits of foodstuff stuck between teeth and I floss every night after brushing. I have seen an improvement in my dental care since using this floss and after a check up last week my dentist also said he was very happy with my cleaning so this must back up the product. In fairness, most dental flosses will probably perform effectively but for the price, the comfort from both the size of the floss and the fact that it is waxed plus the added flavour you can't really go wrong with this product.

      OVERALL

This is a product I buy extremely regularly with 100m of floss for £1 I think this is a brilliant price and I find the product very easy to use, flossing no longer seems a chore. I've only knocked a star off because I do feel the minty flavour could be a bit more natural.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Another winner from Nivea!

      DESCRIPTION

This is a roll on antiperspirant from Nivea. One of my favourite products in the world is Nivea cream, I can't live without the stuff and Nivea is a brand I feel as though I can trust so when I saw this roll on in Superdrug a few weeks back I figured I would give it a go. I tend to flitter between brands when it comes to antiperspirant and I also switch between roll ons and sprays though I do much prefer roll ons. This antiperspirant claims to provide 48 hour protection and "smooth and beautiful underarms".

      PRICE

This roll on is on offer in Superdrug at the moment for a rather random £1.06, it's a good deal though!

      PACKAGING

The antiperspirant comes housed in a very small glass bottle (I found this quite strange as it's usually plastic bottles for these products). The lid is made of white see through plastic and has to be twisted to be removed from the bottle. Removal of the lid reveals about a 50pence piece sized rollerball that released the antiperspirant. On the front of the bottle is the brand name and an indication of its claims (mentioned in description) and on the back a peel up label reveals ingredients and manufacturer details. The back of the bottle also states there is 50ml of product.

      PERFORMANCE

I really like this antiperspirant and I feel as though it is definitely a product I will purchase again. At first I was a bit concerned because when applying the product to the underarms it initially looks and feels "wet" I was thinking "this is going to take ages to dry" and was getting pretty annoyed to be honest but it only takes a couple of minutes to be touch dry. I tend to put it on whilst I'm still drying my hair that way I know it will definitely be dry before I get fully dressed. In terms of its 48 hour claim I'm afraid I haven't tested that, I'm a bit of a clean freak and so never get near that sort of level without having showered again or added more deoderant. However I was very pleased with the antiperspirants performance throughout a normal day, I haven't felt the need to reapply after a long day (even in some of the heat we have had) which is something I had to do with a lot of the sprays I buy.

I also thought it performed extremely well when exercising I've been doing small 7-8 mile bike rides once a week and this antiperspirant has kept me very dry throughout my rides. The smell of the antiperspirant is also very nice, I don't like an overpowering smell from an antiperspirant because they seem to clash with any other fragrances you wear and so it was pleasant to find that this Nivea antiperspirant just provides a subtle floral smell that is very pretty and doesn't clash with anything.

In terms of its "beautiful underarms" claim I also feel it has performed well, this antiperspirant helps moisturise my underarms and makes them appear softer after shaving. I wouldn't say it's made my underarms perfect but they definitely look a lot better with this product as opposed to my Sure spray.

      OVERALL

I was very impressed with this product, it was the first time I had seen it in Superdrug and it was a snap decision to buy but I'm glad I did. If you prefer roll ons to sprays I feel as though you will be very pleased with this product the only down side is that it does take a bit longer than some brands to fully dry and so I will have to remove one star for that.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

My favourite sun care product by a mile!

      DESCRIPTION

I first came across this product when shopping for sun cream in 2011 before my first holiday abroad to Majorca. In the sun care aisle in Wilkinsons I noticed this product. I recognised the brand because my fella's parents use it but I'd never seen the "bronzing oil" before. I'm quite a pale girl but I do enjoy a safe sunbathe and so after talking to some friends I was told that if I use normal factor 30 sun scream for the first few days in the heat and then drop down to this Factor 15 deep tan bronzing oil from Calypso, I would come home with a nice tan. I though yeah right but am pleased to say it was fantastic on that holiday and I've been buying it ever since. With the recent hot weather we have had in the UK I purchased another bottle of this from Wilkinsons about a fortnight ago. Here's my review.

      PACKAGING

This is a slighty see through brown colour plastic rectangular bottle. The lid is also brown and screwed onto the bottle, on this screw top is an atomiser that releases the oil and over the atomiser is another small plastic lid to protect it. On the front of the bottle is the name of the product and the factor of protection in this case "15" you can get it in lower factors though but I don't think it's safe for me to do that so I always stick to 15 with the bronzing oil. On the back of the bottle is some info on the product such as that it contains Vitamin E and Cocoa Butter which replace natural oils that are lost by sun exposure. The back of the bottle also indicates that this product provides UVA and UVB protection. There is also an indication that the bottle is recyclable and there is 250ml of product.

      PERFORMANCE

I really love this product, I think it's brilliant! The first thing you notice about the product is the smell upon it's release, it's a gorgeous coconut smell that really lasts on the skin. My Mom is forever complimenting me when wearing this spray it really is a lovely smell!

The next thing to note is that the product sprays easily and evenly on to the skin, the spray also works when the bottle is held upside down which can sometimes be a problem with some spray products. It is advised to "rub in" the product when sprayed onto the skin but I also sometimes just spray it evenly on the area and let it sink in itself, I have still been protected everytime.

When out in the sun with the product on (after using factor 30 sun cream for my first few days in the sun) I have experienced no burning sensation what so ever. Because this is a bronzing oil too you will be amazed when you come in after being out in the sunshine because the tan really develops quickly, I currently have a lovely golden colour to my arms and legs and the tan looks very natural and not too intense.

I go on holiday in a week and I will definitely be packing this product to help me get that perfect tan when abroad. I love how this product really protects your skin but still allows you to get the tan you want so you can feel confident throughout the summer without having to pay a fortune in fake tans (I'm not somebody that can be bothered with things like that and so whenever I can get a natural tan I really go for it! haha).

      PRICE

      £2.99 in Wilkinsons.

      OVERALL

I would 100% recommend this product I would just say that if you know you are quite sensitive to the sun do what I do and get your skin adjusted first by applying factor 30 for 2-3 days then drop down to this bronzing oil. Factor 15 is as low as I would go and you still feel very much protected with this product, the golden tan you are left with is just gorgeous and when I used the product in 2011 my tan lasted after my holiday for ages! I had such a big smile on my face. Really great product, 5 stars!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Terrible, one star because I can't give no stars.

      DESCRIPTION

My Mom came back from shopping about a week or so ago with this "Tango Invigorating Shower Gel With Aloe Vera" the particular variety she had bought was the apple one. My first thought was why the hell are tango doing a shower gel? And my second was that it probably wouldn't be very good. Nevertheless I would be stuck with it at least for a couple of days as we'd ran out of shower gels and this was what Mom had picked up. There is 400ml of product and the shower gel is also available in Orange, Cherry and Lemon.

      PACKAGING

The packaging is quite standard for a shower gel but I can't help but feel it's a bit bulky. It's a large rectangular plastic bottle with some nodules to aid grip. The lid is black plastic with a flip top cap that reveals the aperture for the shower gel to be released. On the front is the Tango logo and the name of the product and on the back we have an ingredients list, manufacturer details etc and also a warning that "this product is NOT a drink"...

      PRICE

£1. My Mom picked this up from our local pound shop.

      PERFORMANCE

Well where do I start? The positive I suppose is the smell upon opening the product, it is a very strong and nice smelling apple shower gel however this is only true before you shower with it as once in contact with the water the smell seems to disappear immediately, it doesn't linger on the skin at all and as somebody who loves a really nice smelling shower gel I was very annoyed at this Tango one.

Next problem is that it barely lathers up at all, when applied to my loufa it starts well with some lather forming on the loufa and when first contacting the skin but again this seems to disappear when washing the body. I find myself having to add more product to the loufa which is just ridiculous, I've had plenty of shower gels in the £1 price bracket and I've never had to apply more product just so I can actually have a wash!

I've really been disappointed with this shower gel, I still don't know why Tango (Brtivic) decided to venture in to this area, it was a bad move to say the least. It's a novelty item for me a sort of stocking filler, the thing you look at and think ooo that'll be fun then you realise it doesn't bloody work. Luckily Mom has now got some Radox shower gels in thank god and so this has been left for Dad to use.

      OVERALL

Really rubbish shower gel, I get that it's sort of a novelty buy but you would still think Tango could produce a half decent shower gel! Don't bother buying it, the only plus side is the amount of product you get but after one shower you won't want to use it again anyway!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Lovely inexpensive lip gloss if a tad sticky!

        DESCRIPTION

This is a lip gloss from budget make up brand "Make Up Academy" or MUA as they are better known. I'm starting to really like MUA and I'm building up quite a collection of their products, a lot of their items can be purchased for £1 and as somebody that hates spending loads of money on make up but wears it quite often I always try to find a cheap alternative to some of the more well known brands. I bought this lip gloss because I was after a cheap pinkish shade one for my holidays mainly but I have also been using it at home for a few weeks now. There are several shades of this gloss available but I will be discussing "Can't Stop" which is a sort of deep pinkish peach colour with a shimmer.

        PACKAGING

The lip gloss is sealed in a small plastic tube with a black twist cap top. My lip gloss looks slightly different to the picture here on dooyoo, there is some black detailing on the plastic packaging but you can still see the colour of the lip gloss inside. As with most tube lip glosses the plastic packaging tapers at the one end making it easier to squeeze when you run low on product. Upon removing the twist cap you are met with a slanted and slightly curved plastic point making it easy to apply the product to the lips. Inside this plastic point is a small aperture where the lip gloss is released when the packing is squeezed gently.

        PRICE

This product in all its various shades can be purchased from Superdrug for £1.

        PERFORMANCE

I really like this lip gloss and have been using it regularly, it's not quite perfect but it's extremely good for the £1 price tag. The lip gloss is released from the tube easily, you don't need to apply much pressure to the tube and the product also comes out evenly, a lot of cheap lip glosses I find release massive blobs of product to the lips but this is not a problem here.

The lip gloss glides easily on to the lips and provides a really nice subtle sheen. The glitter that is visible in the lip gloss tube is not overpowering it creates a really nice shimmer that catches the light on your lips. One thing I would say is don't be afraid to purchase a slightly darker lip gloss than you are used too, my shade of a darkish pinky peach creates a nice coverage without looking clumpy or in your face, I would image if you chose a very light colour you would barely notice it and so bare this in mind.

The only downside really to this product is that it is a bit sticky on the lips. It's not unbearable and I've had a lot worse but it is still an annoying problem, I'm still yet to find a cheap lip gloss that isn't at all sticky but I suppose having my hair stick to my lip gloss in the wind is just something I'm going to have to live with if I'm paying £1! Haha.

Another positive of the lipgloss is it has a very nice flavour to it, mildly fruity which is an added bonus for the price.

        STAYING POWER

It's staying power is very good, I've worn this lip gloss quite a lot recently and I've only felt the need to top up when out after about 3-4 hours. If I've been drinking or eating a lot though then this time is cut quite a bit but I still feel for a cheap lip gloss this is very good!

        OVERALL

Overall I like the product a lot and will probably be purchasing some different shades, it's a shame the product is sticky and I will have to remove a star for that but to be honest that seems to be a problem with a lot of budget lip glosses. Most importantly it looks lovely on the lips and has a very respectable staying power for the price of the product. Give it a go!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Must have product when I have a sore throat!

        DESCRIPTION

These are special medicated lozenges from the brand "Strepsils" the package I have contains 36 lozenges but you can purchase them in packets of 16 and tubes of 10. This is also the honey & lemon variety but there are a range of flavours, some others I like are the relatively new "warm" and "cool" strepsils. The product aims to providie "soothing effective relief for sore throats". I asked my Dad to grab me a packet of these a few days ago because I felt a sore throat coming on and I know from using this product for years that if you catch it early enough, strepsils will nip the problem in the bud.

        PRICE

My Dad paid just under £4 for a 36 lozenge packet from the local newsagents, this is pretty expensive to be honest and I know you can often pick up the 16 lozenge packets from places like poundland so if you have time to shop around, do so, I just needed some strepsils quickly so had to pay extra.

        PERFORMANCE

I cannot fault strepsils, they are a trusted and very effective brand that I have been using since I was little. When my Grandad was alive he would always have packets of strepsils lying around his flat and so if I was ill Mom would always go and lend some strepsils off Grandad.

The honey & lemon variety I have are very nice in taste, I'd be lying if I said you couldn't taste an underlying medical sort of flavour but overall they taste sweet and smell nice too. I can suck a lozenge for about 10 minutes before I feel the need to bite it but you should try to keep the lozenge in your mouth longer than this so the antiseptic ingredients (2,4 dichlorobenzyl alcohol and amylmetacresol) can work, they will still obviously work however long you keep the lozenge in the mouth but the longer the better.

When I feel a sore throat coming on I take a strepsil straight away, as a person who steers clear of tablets unless I really need them I find strepsils a really good alternative to taking ibuprofen for a sore throat. I usually take 3 or 4 lozenges a day and by doing this my sore throat is usually cleared after 2-3 days. My most recent bout of a sore throat was cleared with strepsils after 2 days but I suppose the speed and effectivity depends on the underlying causes, I would say if you've seen no improvement from using strepsils after 5 days then definitely go and see the doctor.

I've always found strepsils to work though, you can really feel the soothing feeling on the throat from the lozenge and you can tell the antiseptic ingredients are working.

        REMEMBER

This product is unsuitable for children under the age of 6 and you should not have more than 12 lozenges a day! It also states that if you are pregnant you should contact your doctor before taking strepsils.

        OVERALL

These are a staple product for me when I have a sore throat, I can't get by without them when I'm ill, I literally don't know what I would do. They work perfectly and aren't as harsh as taking ibuprofen etc, not that there is anything wrong with that option, I just always feel silly taking tablets for a sore throat, strepsils work directly on the area and they also taste great!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A great price for a waterproof mascara.

        DESCRIPTION

This is a waterproof mascara from budget make up brand Natural Collection. The mascara is available in two colours; black or brown/black. I recently purchased this product after reading several reviews on the brand here on dooyoo and I was looking for a cheap waterproof mascara so I though I would give it a go. I owned a couple of lipsticks from Natural Collection about a year or so a go and I was happy with the product so I was looking forward to trying their waterproof mascara. I wear mascara A LOT!

        PACKAGING

The packaging for this mascara is pretty bland but to be honest for the price you pay you shouldn't expect much more. I like that their packaging is white though as opposed to black that is often opted for mascara packaging, the white makes the product look a bit fresh. The packaging is plastic and in a long cylindrical shape. On the front of the package is the name "Natural Collection" in brown font and on the back is manufacturer details, the face there is 8ml of product and some claims such as "waterproof and smudge resistant" & "fragrance free". The product is dermatologically tested but there is no ingredients list on the product.

        PRICE

You can purchase this product in Boots for £1.99.

        PERFORMANCE

This product has performed well for the price paid, there are better waterproof mascaras out there but for a budget brand this one is really good. I wear mascara daily but don't often wear waterproof mascara however with all this shocking hot weather we've been having I have felt the need for something a bit stronger and so I've been using this mascara for a couple of weeks. The mascara wand to this product is very simple, it's small thin and has twisted bristles, there's no spoon shape or ball point end and to be honest I like the simplicity, some of these new mascaras are far too fiddly and complicated and I tend to opt for the more traditional wand.

The consistency of the product is as you would expect of a mascara and so far since using the product I have experienced no clumps. The wand provides good coverage to the lashes and it is easy to reach the corners of the eye. My lashes are coated very evenly and as somebody who often applies two coats of mascara this product performs well for that "build up" look.

In terms of it's waterproof ability I would say it has done very well, I've been in 29C plus on occasions these past couple of weeks and it has not budged, I've also been in water fights with my nieces and nephews, on this occasion I did have some small run off but in a water fight this can happen even with higher end mascaras, I feel it would hold still in a light rain shower for example but very heavy rain would probably cause some smudging, as I say though for the price I still feel this product is very good.

        OVERALL

Overall I definitely think this product is worth a try if you are a budget buyer! I hate spending loads of money on make up when I know I can use a product that will perform at 95% of the more expensive option. I'm really happy with this waterproof mascara and I'll definitely be taking it on holiday with me in August! I can't remove a star, it's extremely good for the price.

I'll be buying this again as it serves multiple purposes.

        DESCRIPTION

This is a duo eye-shadow from Natural Collection. There are a variety of shades available for this product but in this review I will be discussing the shade "Mocha/Latte". Whilst on the hunt for some waterproof mascara a couple of weeks ago I spotted this product, I'd been longing to try using eye-shadow as a brow definer and felt the brown colour in this duo was perfect, I also liked the light cream shade and felt the two would also work well for a smoky look.

        PACKAGING

The packaging is basic but actually quite pretty. The lid is see through plastic with the natural collection logo on the front and you can clearly see the two eye-shadows on one half is the dark brown of mocha and on the other is the light shade of latte. On the back of the packaging it says "duo eye-shadow fragrance free". It also has manufacturer details and tells us there is 5g of product. To open the packaging you simply twist the lid.

        PRICE

You can currently purchase this item for £1.99 in Boots.

        PERFORMANCE

I shall discuss this product in the two variants for which I've been using it. Firstly I will talk about it's performance as a brow definer. I've been using an angle brush in the mocha shade and then gently applying small brush strokes to the brow to create a more natural eyebrow as opposed to a more harsh pencil line. In this sense I feel the eye shadow has performed very well, the product is pigmented on the brows and stays put all day when I have a full face of make up. I have only felt the need to touch it up when going from a day to night look.

In terms of the products performance on the eye lid I have mixed opinions. The latte shade I have really liked, it works well as a highlighter for the brow bone and also as a base colour when using other products. The latte shade doesn't appear to crease or fade (perhaps because it is the lighter colour) and it has good staying power with very easy application. The mocha shade however I have found fades quite quickly on the eyelid and has sometimes sank into creases. This is unfortunate because I've been using the latte shade a lot on and around the lids but haven't been able to use the mocha much here however for the price and considering I find the mocha shade very good for a brow definer I am still very pleased with this product and will be buying it again!

        OVERALL

I would only suggest buying this product if you feel you can use it for multiple uses as my experience of the darker shades on the lid is not a good one. If you are only going to use the product on your eye lids then I would perhaps suggest selecting a light shaded duo. I have to remove one star because of the mocha's performance on the lid but other than that it's a cracking product!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

One of my fave nail varnishs.

***Update I initially thought my nail varnish was "cotton candy" I've since found out the shade I have is Dazzle, I have changed this in the description, apologies!***

        DESCRIPTION

This is a nail varnish from Miss Sporty's "clubbing colours". The shade I will be discussing is dazzle which is a baby pink colour with a sort of sheen to it. I bought this product because I had a silver version of the same nail varnish a while back and I remember it being superb, I ran out and never got around to replacing it.

        PACKAGING

The packaging is very standard of a nail varnish product however Miss Sporty's nail varnishs have a sort of fish bowl base to hold the varnish. The lid is white plastic and twists away easily. The nail varnish brush is adequate in size and I can usually coat each nail in three strokes.

        PRICE

You can purchase this product in 13 shades for £1.99 in Boots.

        PERFORMANCE

This for me is by far the best cheap nail varnish I've ever purchased. The product is of a good consistency and as mentioned before it is applied to the nail usually within 3 strokes. The pigmentation I feel is very good for the price although because my shade is quite pale I do definitely need to coats, I don't find this a problem though because I would usually apply at least two coats of a nail varnish anyway. With two coats on this varnish provides a really sweet look, the cotton candy pink is really nice and is glistens slightly in the light.

The main positive of this nail varnish for me though is it's longevity. Without a top coat on my toenails I can get 5-7 days from this nail varnish and with a top coat (Barry M) I have had this nail varnish on my toes for 8-12 days. I remember using the silver variety of this for a holiday a while back and despite taking the varnish with my for touch ups it did not chip once even after being in the sea etc I was elated when despite a slight change in packaging and shades this cotton candy shade of clubbing colours was still as good in it's longevity. I really love this nail varnish and I will definitely be going back to boots soon to purchase some more shades, I want the brighter pink one for my next holiday in August!

        OVERALL

If you haven't already, give it a try, for such a cheap product this nail varnish really does have brilliant staying power! I love it. 5 stars.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Not very pleased really, 2 stars for initial coverage and price.

        DESCRIPTION

This is a new foundation from NYC. The product claims to last for 14 hours and provide a smooth and flawless look. I recently purchased this item on eBay, I managed to pay £3 for it which I though was a bargain but I've since found out that it's pretty much the same price in chemists, I haven't been using foundation lately due to the hot weather but I was running out and so figured I would try this one due to the price and the fact the sale was ending soon. As always there are a variety of shades in this foundation, the shade I am discussing is 737 classic ivory.

        PACKAGING

This foundation comes in a medium sized cylindrical bottle, the width of the bottle is probably about the diameter of a 50 pence piece. The majority of the bottle is see through so you can see the product inside but there are black sections at the top and the bottom. On the front of the packaging is the name of the product etc and on the back there is an ingredients list, details for the manufacturer and a brief round up of the products claims. The lid to the product is see through plastic also and when removed a black plastic pumping device is revealed, a gentle press easily squeezes a pea sized amount of product onto the hand or make up applicator.

        PRICE

You can currently purchase this product in Superdrug for £2.99.

        PERFORMANCE

I must admit I've felt quite let down by this product. It is released from the bottle sufficiently and when first pumped on to the hand the consistency is good, thick and not too runny so it looks as though it will be easy to work with however when applied to the face the product begins to get even more thick and clumpy and so you have to work fast. I've also found that the product is not true to it's shade in the bottle. I'm a pale girl and so usually the lightest shade of a foundation (unless I have a tan) is a good fit however this classic ivory from NYC is extremely white on application it doesn't look very natural at all and it took a lot of blending in for me to feel comfortable with the look and coverage. The coverage was good I thought, my blemishes were hidden and it seemed even but it took a lot of time to get there. The product definitely did not last for 14 hours I would say more like 6 before I felt the need to touch up, this was also frustrating because when touching up it again took a lot of time due to the need to blend heavily. I have found that this product works a bit better when I add in a bit of another foundation and then create a mixture, this way I get a slightly darker shade and a bit more longevity, in terms of the products performance on its own though I have been disappointed.

        OVERALL

Overall this isn't the best foundation and even with the relatively cheap price I still don't feel it performs well enough as I have tried cheaper foundations from collection 2000 that I think perform a bit better. I will use up the product as I hate wasting things but I definitely won't be purchasing again, steer clear. 2 stars.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Very nice good quality hairspray

        DESCRIPTION

This is a thickening hairspray from John Freida. The product claims to hold fullness all day with a light spray and the product is a salon formula. I was given this product as a gift set for Christmas, in the set was the matching shampoo and conditioner but they have long gone leaving me with just the full sized hairspray.

        PACKAGING

The packaging is quite standard for a hair spray, a tall relatively thin canister with an atomiser to release the hair spray. The bottle I own has a light blue colour and a see through gold tinted lid on the front is the name of the product and its claim and on the back there are instructions and directions for use in several languages plus safety information and manufacturer details.

        PRICE

You can purchase this product (different packaging now) from Boots for £5.49.

        PERFORMANCE

I think this hairspray does a pretty good job, I must admit I don't use hairspray as much as a lot of lasses I know because I tend to have my hair just simple and straight but for nights out or when I need a bit of oomph I've always got a couple of hairspray brands nearby. This hairspray exits the can evenly and one spray covers a large area of hair. There is no residue left on the hair as I have noticed can happen with some hairsprays and there is a sort of fresh smell to the product. The hairspray has very good hold, it's not a hairspray for somebody who wants a more flexible style as it creates a very rigid hold on the sections of hair. When I backcomb and add volume to my hair for nights out sometimes this hairspray performs extremely well it holds my style for the majority of the night even through dancing and heat however it doesn't reach it's "24 hour" claim. I find it hard to believe any hairspray could hold my thick hair in place for 24 hours to be honest. I think this product is great for ladies with long and quite thick hair, it's supposed to be a volumising hairspray and whilst it might be worth a try for ladies with thinner hair I just feel as though it might be a bit harsh, but definitely worth a try!

        OVERALL

Overall I really like this product, it has lasted me ages because I only reach for it for nights out and I feel it performs very well. I wouldn't ever pay over £5 for a hairspray though but would appreciate the product as a gift again, I have to remove one star I feel for the products longevity considering it claims to last for 24 hours but other than that it's a top product.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

It's ok for the price but don't think I'd buy it again.

        DESCRIPTION

This is a heat defence spray from Superdrug's own brand. The product claims to protect hair from heat damage, to smooth out frizziness and to add shine to the hair. I purchased this because I realised I had been neglecting my hair, I blow dry and straighten my hair quite a lot and because of all this heat it's important to protect your hair but I haven't been doing that for a while since I ran out of my last spray so when I saw this relatively cheap one in Superdrug a month or so back and decided to pick it up.

        PACKAGING
The packaging of the product is quite nice and looks quite professional. The bottle is a deep purple colour and the writing is in green and white with the silver Superdrug star. There is a large trigger at the top of the bottle which you press to release the product. On the front of the bottle is the name of the product and its claims and on the back you can find directions for use, manufacturer details etc and also it states there is 300ml of product.

        PRICE

I'm pretty sure I paid between £2-£4 for my bottle from Superdrug but I can't find the product on their website at the moment. I have seen it on eBay though.

        PERFORMANCE

This product isn't overwhelming but it's decent. It has a main flaw that affects my rating of the product but on the whole it's quite good. The main problem of the product is the trigger system, the product does not always come out evenly, usually this happens on the first spray. Instead of being spread across the hair the first spray is usually localised on one point, this is very annoying as one tiny bit of hair is covered in product and if you leave it it becomes sticky, I tend to wipe it down the hair strands with my hands before carrying on spraying the product, by the second or third spray the product is released much better and covers larger sections of the hair. In terms of its heat defence properties I feel it performs very well, my hair does not feel as though it is being damaged at all when gliding the straighteners down each section, I truly feel as though a protective barrier has been created. In terms of its shine claim though I don't think it performs very well, I'm quite lucky with my hair as I usually have a decent shine to it after washing anyway but this product didn't enhance or improve that look at all, in fact it's probably made my hair duller but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for the heat protection.

        OVERALL

It's a reasonably priced product that performs well on the heat defence front, it's a bit problematic sometimes with the trigger not releasing the product properly and I don't feel as though it adds shine for these downfalls I will have to remove two stars but for the price it's still a decent product.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Smells gorgeous, great price too

        DESCRIPTION

This is a new product from Radox, a coconut shower cream that apparently contains exotic coconut and milk. I've gone a bit mad on coconut lately I'm currently using coconut shampoo and conditioner and a coconut moisturiser, I hate the taste of coconuts but I love the smell of them and so when my Mom saw this on offer in Boots she bought it for me as we'd run out of the ocean fresh imperial leather shower gel we'd been using (I'll review that too).

        PACKAGING

The packaging is quite simple but the text on the front is bold and bright and so it catches your eye. The bottle is white plastic and the lid is black plastic. The lid is at the base of the product which I really like with shower gels because you don't have to tip the bottle upside down to get the last bit of product out of the bottle. It's a simple flip lid to access the product and on the front of the shower gel there is a "NEW" sticker along with the name of the product, on the back are directions for use, ingredients etc, it also says there is 250ml of product.

        PRICE

The product is currently available in Boots for £1.

        PERFORMANCE

I think this shower gel performs very well, it lathers up very easily and quickly and it feels as though the product is sinking into my skin, I feel a moisturising aspect whilst I am in the shower however this does not last when I leave the shower. The smell is very nice and although it perhaps shouldn't be the first reason why you buy a shower gel, the smell is always very important to me, especially when I find a shower gel that leaves the smell lingering on your skin which this one does. The main problem for this product though is that I feel they have been a bit deceptive, on the front of the bottle it says "contains exotic coconut & milk". As far as I can tell the ingredients of this product aren't really natural but manufactured, for some this may be a problem but I don't particularly mind using manufactured instead of natural products although I will use natural when and where I can.

        OVERALL

Overall I really like this shower gel, it's a shame it isn't a bit more moisturising and it would also be a lot more appealing to some people if it was truly natural however it has a gorgeous smell that lingers and it also lathers up well, for the small flaws I will remove 1 star.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

One of my favourite shower gels

        DESCRIPTION

This is a shower gel from the well known brand Imperial Leather. My Mom seems to constantly buy Imperial Leather shower gels and the "ocean fresh" varitey has been a favourite in the house of late, we recently ran out and so I thought it was a good time to do a review before I throw the bottle into recycling. This is a new formula shower gel that claims to be "twice as creamy" as their old one.

        PACKAGING

The packaging is see through plastic and the bottle is a sort of wavy shape. The lid is clear blue and so is the shower gel. On the front of the bottle is the name of the product and on the back there is a list of ingredients and an indication that there is 300ml of product.

        PRICE

You can currently purchase this product from Tesco for £1.89.

        PERFORMANCE

I must admit I do really like this shower gel, you just know what you are getting from a brand like Imperial Leather and whilst the product isn't natural it still performs very well and smells extremely nice and is also priced very reasonably for the amount of product you get. When you flip the cap open you can already smell the "ocean freshness" but it really comes alive in the shower, I wouldn't recommend using this shower gel at night as it definitely wakes you up, the smell reminds me of the seaside which always puts me in a good mood. The smell does linger on my skin but not as long as some other shower gels I have used, I think this is partly because "ocean fresh" isn't exactly a strong lasting smell, it's not like a fruity shower gel or anything and so it perhaps doesn't last long due to that factor. The shower gel lathers up superbly and I don't have to put a lot of my loufa at all. The other positive about this shower gel is that I feel as though it has moisturised my skin, sometimes I only get that sensation in the shower but my skin still feels nice when I leave the shower and so this is a real thumbs up.

        OVERALL

Overall this product is one of my favourite shower gels, I love the smell and it's only real downside is that the smell doesn't linger but then I can't remove a star for that because as I said that's probably due to the scent not the product. 5 stars.
