      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      I like it

Ok so it's not necessarily the most classy or sophisticated of drinks but when it comes down to it, it tastes nice and it is great value!

Lambrini now comes in white, red or rose and each bottle costs around £2 - £3 in most supermarkets. The drink is alcholic but it is quite low alcohol at around 3%. Each of the drinks have a very refreshing and fruity taste to them. They are quite sweet so are really best suited as an after dinner dessert type drink or as a refreshing long(ish) drink on a hot day.

The drinks are sparkling but not too fizzy. I find them ideal as a summers drink where you quite fancy a glass of wine rather than juice or squash etc but you don't want anything too alcoholic.

I think the Lambrini range are a very pleasant drink and great value for money. Much better and healthier than the strongly alcoholic alcho pops or similar.

      A good product

This is a great bargin apple juice. Once it is in a glass I don't believe anyone would be able to tell that it is a value product. It is only the packaging and the price that show that is from the value range. At around 50p it is around half the price of other more fancy apple juices.

It is made from concentrate rather than freshly squeezed apples and it is completely smooth. I actually prefer the smooth texture. The colour is clear brown which again reflects the concentrated nature of this product rather than fresh apples with bits in.

I would say that it isn't a very strong juice but some of the freshly squeezed juices in my opinion can be too over powering in flavour and acidity. With this juice it is a nice pleasant apple flavour but not too acidic.

The packaging is very basic. The carton isn't that strong and you do need to use scissors to cut the pouring corner open although there is an attempt as some perferations they don't really work.

100 mls contains around 120 calories. The ingredient is 100% orange juice from concentrate so there is no added sugar, colourings or preservatives.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Great fun

This is a lovely minature box set of In The Night Garden Books. There are 6 books in total each about specific In The Night Garden Characters like the Tombliboos, Iggle Piggle, Makka Pakka etc.

Each book is very short but there are some lovely pictures that will grab a childs attention. Being short it is also possible to easily read all 6 books one after the other so that all the characters have been covered in one storytime. Alternatively you can just pick out the favourite of the moment for a mini 1 minute story.

As a minature box set it is very compact so can easily be fitted in a bag for travelling. I have found though that although the books are quite solid and sturdy the box is quite flimsey and it has ripped a bit just from the normal heavy handed handling of a 1 year old.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      a fun book

We got this book free as part of the Mueller Peppa Pig promotion and it is great.

The story is quite short but the book has some great and colourful pictures on it.

The main story is about Peppa nd her family going swimming with George being a bit scared of the water at first but then enjoying himself swimming with his friend Richard Rabbit. They also do some diving under water to fetch lost toys.

I found this book great for our 1 year old as we have just started taking her swimming and I think this is a great way for her to understand more about the water and games that can be played. She loves Peppa Pig so likes to copy what she sees her doing.

It is great that a TV show can be moved to books as my daughter can then enjoy one of her favourite characters as a story that we can read and talk about together rather than just watching her on TV.

The book is part of a collection with 5 other Peppa Pig titles currently being available. The book is published by Ladybird.

The book is 22 pages long and the price for purchase is £3.99.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Enjoyable

This is a lovely book for a small child. It is small in size but the pages are very sturdy so it is ideal for being robust enough to survive the wear and tear of little readers.

Each page has a sweet picture with some area of texture for the child to feel and investigate. Even the cover has an area of soft fur for the reindeer's body which really grabs the childs attention. There are also areas that are smooth, glittery, rough etc so as well as a variation of colours and textures there is also a range of different looks and most children like this variety to feel.

The story is short but nice and the pictures are bright and vibrant which keeps the childs interest to the end. There are 5 double spread pages with a bright picture and a small amount of writing on each. The book is therefore ideal as a short story for an adult to read or for a child who is just learing to read to read themselves.

The RRP of the book is £5.99 and it is published by Usbourne.

It is part of a set of "That's not my......." books all published by Usbourne and details can be found on www.usbourne.com

We had this book at Christmas time which is ideal but it can be read and enjoyed all year around really.

      Advantages

      Well worth a go

I've tried a few hair colours and the Schwartzkopf Country Colours is my favourite.

It comes in a range of about 20 colours from blond to black and costs up to around £5.00 for a package. I use the red colours as I find these particularly nice.

The colour is neasy to use you simply twist the two bottles together to mix them. You shake the liquids together to make up an even coloured paste and then put it all over clean dry hair. You can then wait anything from 10 minutes to 30 minutes depending upon the level of colour you want to achieve. You then rinse it all out and use the special conditioner provided to finish your hair. The package also includes plastic disposable gloves.

I find it easy to use and it does not have any strong chemical smells to it. The conditioner actually smells very nice. The fact that you mix the liquids together by twisting the bottles together also makes it quite clean to use.

The colour lasts well and fades evenly.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Great to have

I don't use it much but my Le Creuset Fondue Set is still a handy thing to have in my kitchen cupboard.

It comprises of the base unit where you put in some lighter fluid. It has a smakll wick that you then light that gives off a small flame and the heat to keep your fondue bubbling.

There is then the pot for the fondue to go in. You make up the fondue and then place it above the flame to keep warm. This set works well for either cheese or chocolate fondues.

The set also comes with 6 forks for holding the bread, fruit etc for dipping.

You do have to remember to stir the fondue regularly or it does burn and stick to the bottom of the pot. Ours has actually marked from not being stirred often enough which is a bit annoying.

As the set can be dismantled it is easy to take off the pot for cleaning afterwards and also you can clear the section with the lighter fluid and flame quite easily too.

If you are every inclined to do an fondue this set make sit easy.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Not a particular fan

Pampered chef stone ware is a range of baking trays and dishes . Rather than being made of traditional metal they are made of unvarnished stone. The idea is that the stone wear allows a more even distribution of heat and therefore more even cooking. The more you use the stone wear the more "seasoned" it becomes and the more non stick.

I do know a lot of people who rave about the stone ware but I have to say that although I think it is ok I don't see what there is to rave about. I don't find the heat distribution any different to a normal baking tray and the level of non stick is really any different from a good quality normal non stick making tray.

The seanoning actually means the stone ware goes from white to brown to black which to me actually looks a bit unclean! I prefer grey or black metal that you can get all the cooked food off.

Like most Pampers Chef stuff it is also very expensive and you won't see much change from £20 for even the smallest piece.

        Disadvantages

        Well worth having

I keep a mini maglite torch in my car and I find it is really handy to have.

It is a small size so fits very easily in my dash board (along with all my other bits and pieces) but it is a very powerful torch for it's size. It can easily light up for 10 meters or more. Although it is small it also feels nice and solid and quite robust. It feel that it could survive being dropped or knocked quite easily.

Mine stays in the car so has been in high and low temperatures without suffering any problams and always works first time. Even though i onlu use it occassional there have been no problems witgh the batteries getting sticky or it becoming unreliable.

It is easy to use as you just turn the end to switch ity on and off so no switches to find in the dark.

I also think it is a nice looking torch and they do come in a range of colours.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Worth having

The islice is a small plastic device designed for opening packaging. Just within the plastic there is a tiny tiny blade that protrudes enough to slice through any paper or plastic wrapping just by running the slicer along the packaging. It is designed though so that there is no enough blade to be able to cut yourself or to damage the goods you are opening. You can actually hold your finger on the blade and although you can feel it you can't cut yourself.

The Islice I have also has a small magnet on it so that you can attach it to something metal in your kitchen so that it is within easy reach. Tjis is quite handy as it saves rumaging around in draws to find it.

I find it quite good at opening most packages and it makes a neat cut rather than a jaggardy tear. For plastic bags though like bags of frozens peas it can be a bit awkward and mine tends to snag so I find scissors best on that type of packaging still.

As a kitchen gadget though it is small, fairly cheap and quite useful to have.

          Disadvantages

          I'm pleased with my purchase

I have recently bought one of these vacuum cleaners and I am very very pleased with it.

It is a nice and compact vaccum so doesn't take up too much storage room. It is also really quite light in weight so is easy to carry up and down stairs and is easy to manover around the house.

Although it is small and light weight I also find it has a good level of sucktion and is powerful enough to clean very effectively. The area where the dust gathers is quite large so no need for regular emptying and as it is clear you can see exactly how much dirt has been picked up and how full the dust compartment is.

I also think it is a stylish looking cleaner. It is in a bright blue / purple colour which is pretty and the shape is nice as well as practical. The cord winds inside the vacuum and the attatchments come off again for easy storage.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

You can establish your own successful business

If you google Kleeneze a whole range of sites come up from people wanting to recruit you to people saying it is a scam.

I have been a Kleeneze distributor for 6 months. It's not a scam but it isn't money for nothing either and it isn't instant big bucks.

What it is is a way of making some extra income. where you can pick when and where you work. It can be hard work as collecting catalogues in the cold and wet is no ones idea of fun but it is a flexible way to earn some money.

I covered my set up costs and made a profit within my first 3 weeks. Making a profit and making it work does depend on you being reliable and being organised and actually being prepared to do some work for your money.

Basically it's not rocket science as you simply deliver catalogues on one day and go and collect them a couple of days later. You need to set aside 2 days to do collecting as some people will forget to leave them out for you on the correct day. You then put any orders on the Kleeneze internet ording page and deliver the goods when they arrive. You keep a 21% commission and can earn bonuses of 10% of sales upwards. I made the 10% bonus from my first month. I deliver between 150 - 200 catalogues a week and get sales of around £1,000 + for each 4 week period which earns me £300 + per period. It takes me about 10 hours per week so around 40 hours. That works out at £7.50 per hour which is ok but importantly I can do it without paying out £5 per hour for childcare which I have to do with my main job.

The first months are hardest as you do loose catalogues and can meet some unpleasant peopke so this is when most give up. After the first few months though you know who returns catalogues (simply don't deliver again to those who didn't give it back) and you start to build up a base of people who do like to buy things. Eventually you get more orders from fewer catalogues as you are targetting the correct people.

It can work if you treat it as a business. It is also one of the few things I can do without paying for childcare as my little girl comes out with me whilst I "work".

For Mum's or Dad's or in fact anyone needing a flexible way to make some extra cash Kleeneze is a way to do it. If anyone wants more info I'd be happy to help them as my next goal is to build a small successful team. lynn.co@hotmail.co.uk

              A great toy

My daughter has been using this from about 12 months old when she first started wlaking. Her friend who is 2 and a half also loves it and I think we have a lot more use left.

It is a nice light weight but study little trampoline. It has a good grip bar and padded fabric between the base frame and the actual trampoline fabric so little feet have no where to fall through.

Although it is light weight and my daughter is an energetic bouncer we have not had issues of it tipping over at all. She did fall off once but as it is low to the ground she luckily was fine. I would only use it on grass or carpet though rather than a hard surface jsut in case.

It is a pretty blue and green colour so great for boys and girls. My daughter also enjoys crawling under it and poking her head out from underneath the fabric frill surrounds. Two toys in one!

It costs about £30 and is available from Argos.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              Useful to have

This play mat is available from Argos for around £10. It is a lovely bright coloured mat with animal pictures and extras such as a mirror, crinckly flower etc.

As an activity mat for a very young baby it probably isn't the best as they just lie on their backs so couldn't even see the pictures. The ones with bars with hanging toys are better in this respect.

We found our mat very useful though for taking with us when we visit friends or go on holiday as it is easily transportable and ensures there is some where soft and clean for our child to lie or play on whilst we are away from home. It is light weight so folds up very easily.

One thing |I didn't like was a bell inside the mat. the noise was nice but it was actually a very hard lump inside what should be something comfortable and soft to lie on. I think it could really hurt if you stood on the bell or lay on it unexpectedly. A pair of scissors soon sorted it out though and removed it!
