      Cheap and Chocolately

I tend to shop around, never seem to stick to a supermarket as such just depends where I am and where I think would be the cheapest. I always, however, buy a lot of the supermarket's cheap range, where ever I end up. I think that most of the time it's just as good as the big brand names for a fraction of the cost!

Recently I was in Asda and my four year old was fed up and whinging to go home! She asked for some chocolate mousse as we were passing the yoghurt aisle. I looked at all the fancy (and expensive) looking chocolately deserts but then the Asda Smart price Chocolate mousse's caught my eye. A four pack of chocolate mousse for 18p!!! I thought it had to be far too cheap to be nice but definitely worth a try and popped a pack into my trolley.

Now, the pack is nothing fancy or anything special. It is four clear plastic pots, with white labels on and brown writing simply with a title and nutritional information on. But who cares? Lets face it, you don't buy chocolate mousse for fancy packaging do you?!

Now for the important bit, when we got home my two little monsters decided they wanted one, what kind of a mum would I be if I didn't try one too? You know, just to check they are all right!!

I was really surprised to discover they were actually really yummy! They taste just like normal chocolate mousse!
The chocolate taste is quite strong and I think it tastes like quite good quality.
The consistency and texture, again is just like normal chocolate mousse. I was a little expecting it to be quite thin and bland for how cheap it was but it wasn't at all.

The four pack did not last long in our house at all and I will definitely be getting some more next time I am in Asda. Well worth the 18p!!

      Thank you for reading

Fun, catchy book that keeps children engaged in the story.

        INTRODUCTION
        --------------------
Not too long ago, my three year old daughter got quite poorly and had to have a few night stay in hospital . She asked if she could have some new books to keep her occupied in hospital so my mum, being such a good Grandma, went straight out and bought her a big selection of books. Stick man was one of them.

Out of all the bright coloured, fun looking books, which were in the huge pile of new books, my daughter was immediately drawn to Stick Man and wanted it read to her straight away.

        -------------------------
        JULIA DONALSON
        -------------------------
Stick Man is written by Julia Donalson, who is most famous for writing 'The Gruffalo'.
We own many of her books and they are all just as brilliant! Her style of writing it so clever and catchy and never fails to keep children hooked. Stick Man is no exception.

She writes in a rhyme and is also quite repetitive in her writing.
The repetitive style is what I think children love. Because of this style, children who listen to her stories find it easy to keep up with the story line and what is happening in it. They are also able to easily remember the story themselves or at least repeated lines, my daughter often enjoys 'reading' the story back to me. This is great for her learning as while she thinks she's reading it to me, she's actually memorised it but it is getting her familiar with writing and different letters as she looks at the words.

        In the Stick Man story, the most repetitive lines are;

"Stick Man, oh Stick Man, beware of the..........(dog, girl, swan...)"
"I'm not a stick! Why can't they see? I'm Stick Man, I'm stick Man, I'M STICK MAN THAT'S ME, and I long to be home in the family tree"

        ---------------
        THE STORY
        ---------------
The basic story line is about a 'Stick Man' who was out one day and got mistaken, firstly by a dog, for an ordinary stick and is carried away and played with. As the story goes on, Stick Man is continued to be mistaken for 'just' a stick by lots of different characters including a girl, a swan, a boy and a Dad.

Stick Man gets increasingly frustrated by being mistaken so often and carried off to where he doesn't want to go to as he just wants to go back to see his wife and children in the 'family tree'.

Eventually, Stick Man has been mistaken for a normal stick again and is laying on a pile of wood in someone's fireplace when Santa gets stuck up the chimney. Stick Man helps him get out and in return Santa takes him home to his 'family tree'

        ILLUSTRATIONS
        --------------------
The pictures in this book, and many of Julia's other books, are by Axel Scheffler.
Alex Scheffler is a German book illustrator. The pictures are really lovely. They are bright, colourful and fun, but also clear for children to look at and help keep up with the story. The pictures are brilliant and really show what Julia is describing in her story but also keep the children engaged in the story.

        PRICE & AVAILABILITY
        ------------------------------
My Mum purchased our copy of Stick Man from Tesco's. It is widely available from all good book shops, larger supermarkets and online.

It is currently selling on Amazon for £4 with free delivery.

        ------------------
        CONCLUSION
        ------------------
I have no complaints about this book! It is fun and catchy. My children love hearing this story and looking at the pictures and I actually enjoy reading it to them.
It is a lovely book and story and gets my children to actually enjoy books.

5 out of 5 from me!

Thank you for reading my review

          Disadvantages

          Harsh wipes on sensitive skin

          --------------------
          INTRODUCTION
          --------------------
I use baby wipes everything not just for nappy changes, but doesn't every mum?! They are such a practical thing to have handy! I used to use them at nappy changes but also, sticky fingers and runny noses, wiping down spillages, and for removing my make up!

I normally buy my wipes from Asda or Tesco and get their own brand ones as they are fab and affordable but as I now live closest to Sainsbury's, once when I had ran out and really needed some more I thought I'd pop in and give Sainsbury's a try!

          ----------------------------
          PRICE & PACKAGING
          ----------------------------
The first thing I noticed about these wipes is that they are more expensive than the Tesco and Asda versions.
They cost £1.09 per pack or are often 3 for £2.50.

They have also changed the packaging and now either come in a bright blue pack (scented) or a white pack (fragrance free). The packs have a sticky cellophane opened that comes off quickly and never seems to reseal properly again after a couple of uses. I much prefer the old style with the plastic opening as it stops the wipes inside from drying out too quickly.

          ----------------
          THE WIPES
          ----------------
The wipes themselves are of a decent thickness and just the right moisture, as I've used some wipes before that are so overly wet they feel greasy and some that are dry and horrible. These have the balance just right!

They feel soft on the skin but are also strong enough and do not tear or rip at all.

I always get the scented ones and feel they smell lovely! They are not overly floral or anything too girly but still have a nice baby scent about them. The fragrance also has the balance just right and the scent is strong enough to be noticeable but not at all over powering.

          ----------
          IN USE
          ----------
This is where my problem with these wipes comes in. In appearance and first use they seem brilliant!
However, when I used these on my son's bum, his bum seemed to go slightly pinky I didn't think much of it initially as I thought maybe it was just from the rubbing / wiping action on his skin. When I used them later on my face to remove my make up, my face first started to tingle and then I started to get a burning sensation. They left my skin quite red and sore for a few hours afterwards.

          ------------------
          CONCLUSION
          ------------------
These wipes are not for me and my family. They do not seem to agree with us at all. Maybe that's just us but I definitely won't be buying them again and will be sticking to Asda or Tesco wipes.
I would say as long as you or your little one do not suffer from sensitive skin these wipes will be fab but if you do then stay away!

I give these wipes 3 out 5 stars as they are good quality but personally didn't get on with them at all .

          Thank you for reading

Good and cheap Dog food for my pooch!

          --------------------
          INTRODUCTION
          --------------------
First of all this product no longer looks like this. It has been revamped in Tesco's new Everyday Value range.
It is now a shiny plastic bag, which is beige in colour with green writing on it but the dog on the front is the same!

I seem to have been through every dog food brand and type on the market! Most of them (even the most expensive makes) gave my poor dog terrible wind! Gross I know!! I was starting to pull my hair out with my stinky dog and fed up of paying a fortune on food that clearly doesn't agree with him, so one day, searching the pet aisle in Tesco I came across this cheap own make dog food at only £1.47 for a 2.5KG pack! Bargain! Got to be worth a try, so I popped a pack in my trolley.

          ---------------------
          WHAT'S IT LIKE?
          ---------------------
Pouring it out, it is full of what looks like little brown pebbles. It is not as colourful as some other brands of dog food we have tried, just all brown.

It smells like...well it smells like dog food. Yuck!

          ---------
          TASTE
          ---------
Now clearly as this product is dog food I haven't tried it personally! However my doggy Oscar has!
I gave him a bowl full and he ate it no problem! It must taste good as my fussy pooch ate it!

          -----------------
          CONCLUSION
          -----------------
I give this dog food 5 out of 5! Since Oscar has been eating this Tesco value dog food, his gross wind has pretty much stopped! He is so much better now, he likes it and it's cheap! What more could you want from dog food?!

The only problem I have had is that he now seems to have really bad extreme bad breath. However, I can't completely say whether this is down to the dog food or not so I won't rate it down at all for that, just thought it might be worth noting.

Thank you very much for reading

            Advantages

Cheap useful tissues but could be gentler on my poor nose!

            --------------------
            INTRODUCTION
            --------------------
As I'm sitting at home with my blanket and tissues, feeling very sorry for myself as I have an awful cold I thought I might as well sit and review something seeing as I really have nothing better to do with myself! What to review? Tissues! As I have a big bx of them right in front of me!

            ------------------
            TESCO VALUE
            ------------------
First of all, the box doesn't look like the picture above any more as Tesco have revamped their blue stripe value range to Tesco everyday value. This is now a white box with purple writing and purple prints of butterflies, flowers, lips, make - up and mirrors, eyes and lots of girl-y pictures basically.

Obviously as it's from the Tesco Everyday Value range it is only available from Tesco stores and on line.

They cost 65p a box and in a box you get about 225 sheets. Very cheap compared to some of the big brands! The box has an oval shaped on the top which is dotted around the edges so you just pop that out to get to the tissues easily.

            ---------
            IN USE
            ---------
The tissues are quite a good size really and not tiny like I thought they would be for the price.
They are not quite as thick as some of the more expensive brands but I think they are thick enough.

The main problem I have experienced with these tissues are that they are quite harsh feeling and not very soft at all.

With having two little ones, I always have a box of tissues in anyway. Usually just whatever is cheapest or whatever I can quickly grab when I'm shopping after work so it's usually these ones. These are normally ok tissues for our occasional use and do the job well at a good cheap price.

On days like today when I'm full of cold, sat feeling sorry for myself and seem to be need about a hundred tissues a minute, they are very harsh and rough on my already sore red nose! Infact because it's already sore these tissues are like blowing my nose with sand paper! (Told you I was feeling sorry for myself!)

            -----------------
            CONCLUSION
            ------------------
These tissues are probably the cheapest around, they are good to keep in the house or at work to just use every now and again, but if you've got a cold and may need to invest in some better quality, softer ones!

            I give these tissues a 3 out of 5

            Thank you for reading!

Helps cat's to chill out and wind down!

              --------------------
              INTRODUCTION
              --------------------
I have two cats and one dog. We got the first cat, Ollie and my Dog Oscar together at the same time. The second cat, Minnie, we got her about a year later.
Minnie has always been a bit of a nervous cat, she gets on well with Ollie and Oscar but has always been a bit jumpy. I can't really blame her with my two mad kids bounding around too!

Anyway, we had a bit of a problem with her urinating on my hallway carpet. I didn't know why at all, she had her litter tray upstairs that she had always used and she also went outside.
I basically had to spend my day constantly scrubbing and cleaning my hall carpet. It drove me crazy and no matter how many times I cleaned it and no matter what products I used it never felt (or smelled) properly clean again.

I asked advice from the vet and he suggested using Feliway as she is a nervous cat and that is probably why she is doing it. He said the main reason was probably because she was the third one in the house and it's quite a common thing to happen.

              ------------------------
              WHAT IS FELIWAY?
              ------------------------
Feliway is an artificial version of the feline facial pheromones.
Apparently, when cats feel happy and safe they rub their faces on objects in the home, releasing hormones that have a scent to cats making them feel secure. Feliway is basically a copy of this hormone that only cats can smell........weird right?!
I didn't care what it was really as long as it works!

You can get Feliway in a spray or as an electric diffuser that you plug in.

The diffuser is basically a little plug, that is like an off white, browny colour, which I don't like, they could have made it white as I think off white makes it look dirty (that's probably just the clean freak coming out of me and a minor complaint I suppose). It then has a little clear bottle with the clear liquid inside it attached to the plug. It's not very big so not too noticeable

Feliway is odourless to us humans so isn't noticeable in the house at all and only detected by cats.

              -----------------------------
              WOAH! HOW MUCH?!
              -----------------------------
I went into Pets At Home and the diffuser was £37!! I couldn't afford that especially as it was a gamble and might not even work!

I took to Amazon instead and found it for £20. Still expensive but I decided if it stopped Minnie weeing on my carpet it was a small price to pay! It was delivered really quickly too!

They seem to be roughly £20 everywhere and if it's cheaper you usually have to pay delivery to make it up to £20.

Each one lasts for roughly 4 weeks and then after that you can just buy a refil that is slightly (only slightly!!) cheaper.

              -------------------------
              SO DOES IT WORK?
              -------------------------
I decided, to pull up my carpet and replace it with laminate flooring as I wouldn't ever be happy with it again no matter how many times I cleaned it. So I think that might have helped a little.
I plugged in the diffuser very close to her chosen spot in my hallway. I have to say, I didn't hold out much hope, how can this tiny little pot of clear liquid stop my cat from weeing where she shouldn't?! It seemed ridiculous. How wrong was I?!

Within an hour she was a different cat!! She was calm and more friendly. She was relaxed and purring at everything!
Since we first used the diffuser we haven't had a single kitty accident! I actually can't believe it!
Also, after 4 week the bottle ran out and I didn't notice for another week and the results remained the same, I haven't had to buy a refill or anything, it seemed that just one burst of it was enough to do the trick. If it came to it again though, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another. The results were amazing!

              ------------------
              CONCLUSION
              ------------------
I cannot recommend this product enough if you have problems with your cat urinating, scratching and biting or just being generally unhappy or nervous.
Even with the massive price tag, I think its totally worth it. It has definitely helped my little Minnie (and me too!)

A definite 5 out of 5 from me!

                These rubbish bags are rubbish!

                ---------------------
                INTRODUCTION
                ---------------------
I usually use Tesco value black rubbish bags but as I now live closer to Sainsburys, I have started shopping there more often instead. When I started running out of black bin bags I thought I'd give Sainsburys' version a try.

                --------------------------
                PRICE, AVAILABILITY
                ---------------------------
These bags are from the sainsburys basics range, so obviously they are only available from Sainsburys.
They cost 73p for 30 sacks, sounds like pretty good value to me!

                ----------
                IN USE
                ----------
I popped one in the bin, first thing I noticed was that the dotted line where you are meant to tear a bag off the roll was rubbish. It was not at all easy to take just one bag off the roll and it ripped into the next one, meaning that I had to start at the third bag and throw the first two away. Maybe not such good value.....!
After I had actually managed to get one bag off the roll and use it, I went to empty it after a day. My bin was not completely full and just had general household rubbish in it so not really that heavy. The bag was impossible to get out. Everywhere I tried to grab to pull out it just started tearing, it was terrible.

The bags are so thin and fragile they are really not practical at all.

                -------------------
                CONCLUSION
                -------------------
                ~Would I recommend?
                No definitely not!

                ~Would I use them again?
No, there is no way I would ever waste 73p on these again, they are complete rusbbish!

Stay away from these and get Tesco Value ones or pay a bit more for the brands!

                Thank you for reading

Whilst out shopping in my local Sainsburys, I started looking for something to give my children as a nice reward or treat for if they eat their dinner, more like a bribe if I'm honest!
I went down the dessert isle and thought about angel delight as I remembered how cheap and easy it is and my two both love it, I picked up the usual angel delight but then put it back as I noticed the Sainsbury's Basic version of it, at only 15p I thought it would be worth a try!

In the Sainsbury's Basics dessert mix range there are three options as with the normal angel delight; strawberry, chocolate and butterscotch. The only other flavour usually available that I haven't seen in the basics range is banana.

The packaging sticks with the 'basics' name and is indeed very very basic. Is it a small white, tear open packet with orange writing on it simply explaining what is is. Can't get much more basic than this!

                  ---------------
                  PREPARING
                  ---------------
The thing I love about angel delight is how simple and easy it is to make. This version is no different!
Simply mix the contents of the pack to 300ml of milk and whisk until light and fluffy!

The powder in the sachet is very very pale and creamy coloured. It doesn't look or smell very chocolatey at all and to be honest, when I opened the sachet I didn't hold out much hope at all.

                  ----------------------
                  WHAT'S IT LIKE?
                  ----------------------
It whisks up easily and quickly, it soon becomes thick and to my surprise very brown and chocolatey!

I whisked it up until it was thick and a bit mousse like as that's how my children like it. It makes plenty for my little monkeys.

                  It tastes........lovely!
Both my children and myself really enjoyed it!
Unlike some things that are really cheap, it doesn't taste overly sweet or lacking taste. The taste of chocolate is just right!
It didn't last very long at all, so needless to say it was a hit in my house!

                  ----------------------------------
                  HOW DOES IT COMPARE?
                  ----------------------------------
So not only does this one win against the proper brand Angel Delight (15p to Angel Delight's 54p), I checked the nutritional values on both packs and this 'Basics' one is far better for you.

There are much less sugars, fats, salts, calories and pretty much everything in the Basic's one but it still tastes great! I am much happier feeding this version to my children!

                  -------------------
                  CONCLUSION
                  -------------------
For 15p I really can't recommend this enough! It's a great little dessert that tastes great, is easy to make and children love!

5 out of 5 from me

                  INTRODUCTION
                  ---------------------
I don't normally let my children have chocolate or sweet cereal and prefer them to start their day with something good but every now and again I let them have a little treat. My daughter chose a big box of kellogs coco pops in Tesco while we were shopping. For a box of these chocolate cereal it cost £2.69, pretty expensive I thought!

I noticed the Tesco everyday value version 'coco snaps' for only 83p. They could have that one!
I'm always trying to save a bit of money so thought it'd be worth a try!

                  ----------------
                  PACKAGING
                  ----------------
My daughter wasn't too impressed that I was picking the "boring" white one when she wanted "the funny monkey one"
The packaging is completely different to the Kellogs version which is very bright, fun and generally aimed at grabbing kids' attention.
The coco snaps version is a white cardboard box, with purple writing and a photo picture of a bowl of coco snaps.

                  -----------------------------------
                  NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION
                  -----------------------------------
Clearly stated on the front of the box (unlike the Kellogs coco pops) is all the nutritional values and clearly shown is how much of your guided daily allowances of fat, sugar, calories, salt and saturates one serving contains.

The fact that Kellogs Coco Pops don't show it clearly makes me think they have something to hide. I checked and I was right! The Tesco everyday value one is much better and contains less than half of the fat, saturates, sugar and salt of your guided daily allowance than Kellogs Coco Pops. I found that quite shocking.

Now I'm not saying that these Everyday Value Coco Snaps are healthy by any means, but if you're going to buy one, I think you are much better off going for this one!

                  ---------
                  TASTE
                  ---------
Now then, the most important bit, what do they taste like?!
Well my two children can't actually tell any different and enjoy them just as much!

I think they taste better! I think that they are just chocolately enough, any more and they would be too sweet but any less and it wouldn't be enough.
I also really like how crunchy they are. I really can't stand soggy cereal and cereal that goes soggy too quickly like I've found Coco Pops too. Coco snaps are crunchier from the start and don't turn to mush as soon as the milk is added.

My husband doesn't like them however. He thinks they are "just not the same as the proper stuff"
                  I think he's a brand snob!!

                  -----------------
                  CONCLUSION
                  -----------------
I think this cereal is great!
I think it tastes just as good (if not better) as the expensive brands and is about a third of the price! I really don't think you can go wrong!
I would say always try going down a brand, you might not be able to tell the difference and then you've saved yourself some pennies!

4 out 5 from me (only loosing 1 star as as my husband proved, they're still not as good as the real deal for some!)

                  Thank you for reading

Everything you could possibly want for your child

                  WHAT IS IT?
                  -------------------
Kiddicare.com is a website (and physical store) that sells all kinds of baby, children's and maternity products.

They basically sell anything you could ever possibly need for your baby, including; car seats, cots, nursery furniture, changing bags, potties, nappies, baby food, baby toiletries, pushchairs, highchairs, toys and so much more! Pretty much anything you can think of!

I am lucky enough to live near the actual store so can pop in any time I like as well as using the kiddicare.com website. Up until very recently this was the only one in the country despite being one of the top baby stores. Recently they have built a few new stores.

                  -------------------
                  EASE OF USE
                  -------------------
The website is extremely easy to use and is split into different sections:
                  *Prams, buggies and twins
                  *Car seats and carriers
                  *Cots, beds, furniture
                  *Nappies, clothing, bedding
                  *High chairs, feeding, sterilisers
                  *Stair gates, playpens, monitors
                  *Toys, books and swings
                  * SALE

Each one of these sections is then split down into more sub-sections. They have such a huge selection of baby products! There is also a search engine so you can just search for a specific item instead of looking through the categories.

Kiddicare.com, the actual store, is set out in a way that it is very easy to find what you're looking for. It has three floors.
The bottom floor is for car seats, high chairs, toys and outdoor toys, potties and nappies and general smaller baby products like baby food and baby toiletries. The cafe is also located on this floor.
The first floor is full of prams, buggies and strollers. There are loads of them! So much choice, these are all split into sections of different brands just like the website.
The 2nd floor is full of cots, cot beds, toddler beds and nursery furniture.
                  It is a huge place!

                  ---------
                  VALUE
                  ---------
I have been going to Kiddcare.com and ordering online from it regularly since I first found out I was expecting my daughter, so over four years now and it has always been great value. Most things are very competitively priced and they also run a price match guarantee so if you find one of their products cheaper elsewhere they will match it and give you a years guarantee on the product from the day you buy it or your child's due date (really good service if you buy your pram early on in your pregnancy!)

I took them up on the price match when buying my silver cross pram. The staff were really lovely and had no problems with it at all.

The also always seem to have a different sale on so you can always get a good deal. When you first go on to the kiddicare.com website, the first thing that flashes up is SALE so always good to check for some bargains!

                  --------------
                  DELIVERY
                  --------------
Kiddicare offer free delivery on all orders over £29.99, If you spend any less than that the delivery charge is £4.95. A little steep i guess, compared to some other online shops.

Kiddicare.com tell you when your order is going to be delivered and send you regular text updates to give you an exact time. You can also track your order on the website.
Whenever I have ordered from kiddicare they have always delivered when they say they will and have never been late!

I think their delivery service really is excellent!

                  ----------------------------------
                  CAR SEATS & PUSHCHAIRS
                  ----------------------------------
As with everything Kiddicare sell, they have a huge range of car seats available.
They have trained car seat staff who can advise you of what seat is best for your child, when they need upgraded and which are best fitting for your type of car.

They will also try them out in your car for you to help you decide and after you've purchased they will fit it in securely for you if you want so you know it has been fitted safely.

Again, with the pushchairs, all the staff know how they all work and what you need to know. They can show you all the features and how to fold down and put back up all the pushchairs and they always seem happy to help.

Also on the website are demonstration videos for fitting their car seats and for all the features of their prams. Very helpful!

                  ------------------
                  CONCLUSION
                  ------------------
I love kiddicare! I think you can get pretty much anything you want for your baby at a really reasonable price and delivered to your door if you choose to.

They have never let me down and I will continue to use them and recommend!

5 out of 5 from me!

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

You get what you pay for!

                  -------------------
                  INTRODUCTION
                  -------------------
I have to wear black shoes for work and they have to be flat because I'm constantly running around and on the go all the time so heels are are definite no!

My, then, current work shoes were so comfy but looking a bit shabby and old. Not really smart at all so I reluctantly started to look for some more. I didn't want to pay a lot as I only work a few afternoons a week, the rest of the time I can wear my comfy boots!
                  So I took to Primark!

                  --------------------------
                  FINDING THE SHOES
                  ---------------------------
So I went into my local (newly built!) Primark and went off to the shoe section. As with most Primark's the women's shoe section is pretty big and a bit like a maze! They seem to cram as many shoes racks in as possible and there are what seem to be hundreds of very similar, only slightly differing shoes.
Now I love shoes and love shoe shopping and even just browsing, but there's something about Primark that makes my son go a little crazy! He loves it and just wants to run around. Maybe it's because it is a bit like a maze?! Who knows, but it meant that I couldn't look properly at all.

As I quickly scanned the shelf I noticed these marked down from £10 to £3. Couldn't not get them at that price!

                  ------------
                  THE SIZE
                  ------------
I am usually a six in shoes, so quickly squeezed my foot into a size six pair of these. There was no way they would fit! My toes were squished up at the end and the sides were far too narrow for my fat feet!
I put them back and tried a seven. The seven seemed to fit much better.

I find that Primark shoes often come up small and you need a size up but always try as sometimes my regular size is fine. They seem to be a bit hit and miss with their prices.

When I got home and tried them on properly, I decided that it wasn't actually that my feet are too fat and that these shoes are actually very narrow.

                  ----------------------------
                  WHAT ARE THEY LIKE?
                  -----------------------------
These shoes are just normal flat pumps. They are all completely shiny black with a fabric bow stuck on the front with a little metal clip.

On the bottom of the shoe at the heel end it is ever so slightly raised but not enough to call them a heel at all. I still definitely class these as flat shoes.

They actually feel quite flimsy and not very good quality, but for £3 you can't really complain and you get what you pay for. I think I would have been a bit annoyed if I had paid full price however!

                  ----------------------------
                  WEARING THE SHOES
                  ----------------------------
To put it short - They hurt!

The shoes a hard and tough on the edges so really rub.
Also, because the shoes are so narrow, my feet felt really squashed constantly, especially my toes!
The sole of the shoes are very flat and hard so once you've been wearing the shoes for a little while they are very tough the soles of your feet.

I wore these shoes for the first time for four hours at work and came home with my feet covered in blisters on the bottom of my feet, my toes and the back of my heel - ouch!

                  ------------------
                  CONCLUSION
                  -------------------
These are not the best shoes in the world. I tried to give them another chance and they still hurt, and they do not wear very well, they get shabby and scuffed easily.
I think that by the time you've managed to break these shoes in and get them to be comfy (ish) they will be old, scuffed and not worth wearing any more.

Saying all this though, I still can't really complain for £3 for a pair of shoes! They look nice initially and are good for maybe an emergency pair of shoes if you need some desperately or in between getting a decent pair.

                  2/5 stars for me.

Thank you very much for reading my review

A fantastic alternitive to chocolate advent calendars

                  -------------------
                  INTRODUCTION
                  --------------------
For Christmas I decided to get my children toy advent calendars instead of the usual chocolate ones, of course they ended up with chocolate ones too with family members not being able to resist, but these are the ones I bought. I think they look much more fun and exciting. They are also quite big so thought they must be good!

                  ----------------
                  WHAT IS IT?
                  -----------------
The Playmobil Princess Wedding Calendar is just like a normal advent calendar with 24 windows but behind each little window is a Playmobil toy.

There are quite a few different themes to choose from. My daughter had this princess wedding one, but my son had a forest winter wonderland one. I know there is also a pirate treasure one, a police adventure one, a pony one and strangely enough a Christmas post office one. I'm sure there are also loads of other themes that I haven't noticed.

                  -----------------------------
                  PRICE & AVAILABILITY?
                  ------------------------------
They are all pretty pricey. The average price you will find one of these calendars for is about £20, and often more.

Getting near to Christmas they are available to buy at larger supermarkets. I have seen them being sold at Asda and Tesco. However, best place, I think, to buy is Amazon. You have much more choice of which theme to go for on Amazon and depending on which theme you go for they are usually about £17.
The price always goes up and down regularly on Amazon. I watched these calendars until they dropped to a price I was happy with and then purchased. I ended up buying my children's for £10 each. Very happy with that!

                  ----------------
                  THE SET UP
                  ----------------
I didn't realise when I purchased it that you received a 'setting' too. I thought you just got a toy each day.

You get a little cardboard scene that you have to pop out and fold together. My daughter had this one which is a castle, it's really lovely and quite clever how it all pops into place when it's folded out. It has a couple of doors leading into the other rooms and a balcony on the top. It's really nice but as it's just made out of cardboard it's obviously not very hard wearing and won't last for very long. By the time it was nearly Christmas day, my daughters was getting a bit flimsy and flopping to one side, but I must say that was after a lot of playing so we got our use out of it!

The only problem is that just popping it into place seems pretty straightforward.......it wasn't!
It was a nightmare trying to figure out which bit folds into where and which bit needs breaking off.
I would say if you're going to buy one of these for next Christmas I would make sure you get the scene set up first as it is quite fiddly. I'm glad I did it the night before I gave it to my children as I think they would have got bored waiting for me to figure them out!

                  -------------
                  THE TOYS
                  -------------
The toys you get in it are actually pretty decent! I am very happy with what they got from them as I wanted them to be good for the price they sell for.

All the toys they received were of the usual top playmobil quality. I've never been let down with any Playmobil toys and I definitely was not disappointed with these calendars. Each toy was really solid good quality plastic and all were so detailed and pretty!

My daughter obviously received 24 toys in all, some of these included three figures (the queen, king and flower girl), changes of clothes for the figures, furniture for the cardboard palace, a horse (which as the best and last to be opened on Christmas eve) and lots of other lovely little bits like flowers, a basket and a treasure chest with coins in.

Each toy fitted in really well with the princess wedding theme and it was lovely watching my daughter's delighted face each morning opening her window looking at what she'd got.

                  -------------------
                  CONCLUSION
                  -------------------
I would absolutely recommend these advent calendars for anyone with children next Christmas. They were brilliant and worth every penny, even better if you can keep an eye out and get them cheaper!

They were great fun and great quality. My children are still playing with all their toys from their calendars and using them with some of the toys they got from Father Christmas so still a big hit with them.

Both my children couldn't wait to get down and open the next little window every morning to see what they had got.

                  Definitely 5 / 5 from me

                    Advantages

                    Disadvantages

My hair feels soft, silky and nourished for only £1

                    WHAT IS IT?
                    ----------------
Creightons sunshine blonde is a shampoo specially for blonde hair. I first came across this a couple of weeks ago in PoundWorld. I've not seen this shampoo before in any of the supermarkets or other shops so presume it is made specially for discount stores.

                    PACKAGING
                    -----------------
The bottle of shampoo is a bit more like a tube than a bottle really. It is a dull gold colour and I think it looks like it should be quite expensive.

It has the cap on the bottom, which I really like because it means that even when you're coming to the end of the bottle it is still easy to get the product out.

                    USING THE SHAMPOO
                    ----------------------------
As it was only £1 I didn't hold out much hope that it would be the best shampoo ever.

I squirted out a generous dollop of the shampoo and began to lather it into my wet hair. I was surprised at how well it lathered up. It produced lots of foamy bubbles and felt like quite a rich luxurious shampoo.

The smell is lovely. It's very feminine but not at al floral. It's a hard smell to describe but to me it's quite a sophisticated fragrance. I really do like it.

It rinses out really easily, unlike some of the more expensive shampoos that feel quite heavy and seem to cling to your hair and takes a good rinse. This one doesn't seem to do that and easily washes out.

                    THE RESULTS
                    ------------------
This shampoo claims to really moisturise and repair any damaged hair.
It also claims to lighten and enhance blonde hair, natural or dyed.
                    So does it actually work?

After using this shampoo my hair immediately felt very soft and silky. I have been using this shampoo regularly now and it always feels light and not weighed down at all. I feel like it really has helped to repair some of my damaged hair and split ends.

As for lightening and enhancing blonde tones, I feel that my hair does look slightly lighter and more 'sun kissed' as it claims but I think I'm only noticing because I've been looking for a change. I don't think I would have noticed a difference if I hadn't been looking for one, nor can anyone else notice a difference.

                    WOULD I RECOMMEND?
                    --------------------------------
The short answer is YES! Absolutely!
I definitely believe this shampoo is just as good as the very expensive shampoos you can buy but for only £1! Bargain!
As I said, I've only seen it available in PoundWorld so it probably won't be there all the time as products in discount stores seem to come and go. So next time you see some grab it and give it a go!

                    Brilliant product for just £1

                    5 / 5 stars from me

                      Advantages

                      Disadvantages

A nice spray to help make hair brushing easier

                      INTRODUCTION
                      --------------------
My three year old daughter really hates having her brushed. Her hair is quite thick and long and quite often gets tangled and knotty. She always cries having her hair brushed and really hates it.
After reading a review on here and spotting this tangle tamer in Tescos for only £1 I thought I would give it a go and see if it could make our lives any easier.

                      USING THE SPRAY
                      -----------------------
I told Sophie is was a special magic spray to help make brushing her hair not hurt any more....she seemed to buy it!

It is a simple push down top, so just one push releases a spray of the liquid.
I squirted it a few times all over her hair. One spray covers quite a lot so you don't need to spray it too many times in one go because you will end up with very wet hair.
I started brushing through it, as I said before, her hair is quite thick so it was quite tangled.
Brushing her hair with the spray on definitely made it easier to brush her hair with. I also liked how it dried pretty quickly leaving my daughter's hair soft and shiny.

The scent is supposed to be 'sweet pear'. Whilst the fragrance is ok, I'm not sure I would say it is pears that I can smell. I would say it's slightly fruity, but I was a little disappointed with the smell as I expected it to be L'Oreal Kid's usual extra fruity fragrance.
Saying this though, the smell is not bad just a little more chemical like than I would have expected.

It states on the bottle that it can be used on dry or wet hair. We have only used it on dry hair so far as I think that it is already easier to brush out tangles on wet or damp hair.

                      SOPHIE'S THOUGHTS
                      --------------------------
Sophie loves having a 'special spray' just for her. She really likes the way the bottle looks as if you lay it on it's side, it's designed to look like a fish. It is definitely appealing to children.

She has noticed a difference in the ease of brushing her hair and whenever it's time to do her hair she always goes off and fetches the bottle of tangle tamer. It's a real hit with her.

                      ANY PROBLEMS?
                      ---------------------
The only real problem I have had with this Tangle Tamer is the bottle. Every time I spray some on my daughter's hair some of it leaks out. So if I only spray it three times I end up with a very wet hand and it drips down on to my leg. It's pretty annoying!

This could possibly be that I have a slightly faulty bottle as I've not heard of anyone else having these problems.

                      CONCLUSION
                      -----------------
                      Would I recommend? Yes!
Would I buy again? Yes, I will be buying again as Sophie is definitely easier to keep sat still using this spray, however if I get another bottle that leaks all over me again, I probably will look for another brand.

4 / 5 stars for me. Loses one for the leaky bottle

                        Advantages

                        Disadvantages

A great smelling shampoo for your little people!

                        INTRODUCTION
                        ---------------------
My daughter likes to choose her own shampoo when we are out shopping. She has never really liked having her hair washed and now at three years old, if she chooses her own shampoo and tries to wash her hair herself it is much easier on both of us! She usually chooses one in the L'Oreal Kids range and this was her latest choice.

L'Oreal Kids shampoo is a range of children's shampoo available to buy. They have lots of different scents available including apple, watermelon and mango. Today I am reviewing the Cheeky Cherry and Almond one.

                        THE PACKAGING
                        ----------------------
This shampoo comes in a bottle very typical of L'oreal Kids shampoos. They are all brightly coloured with a different coloured cap and with a little picture of an eye on the top.

This cheeky cherry one is red with an orange cap and eye.

The packaging is very appealing to children and I think it looks fun.

It states on the shampoo bottle that it is a 'tear free formula' so even if it gets in your child's eyes it shouldn't sting or hurt too bad. Although it is always recommended that you keep it away from eyes and rinse thoroughly if contact is made. I am always very careful to keep it away from my children's eyes.

                        USING THE SHAMPOO
                        ----------------------------
The shampoo is clear and pours out easily. It is not really thick, nor is it too runny.

Once rubbed in the hair it starts to lather up immediately. You don't need to use a lot as it creates a lot of bubbles so a little goes quite a long way.

Once all the hair is covered, it rinses out easily and doesn't stick or cling to the hair. My kids hair is left looking immediately clean and shiny.

My daughter has quite long hair and after using this shampoo her hair is always tangle free. On the bottle it states that this is a 2 in 1 shampoo and it claims 'No Knots'. I can say this definitely works.

                        THE SCENT
                        ----------------
It is quite strong smelling and once the shampoo open, the smell hits you right away. The scent is just what it's supposed to be and is a perfect mix of cherry and almond. It is strong and sweet but without being over powering.

After my children have used the shampoo and are out of the bath and dried, I can still smell this on them. In fact the scent lasts in their hair for quite a while.

                        PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
                        ------------------------------------
This Cheeky Cherry Almond shampoo is available from most supermarkets and drug stores (superdrug % boots) as is the rest of the L'oreal Kids range.

It's usual price is £1.99 a bottle but it is often on offer for £1. This is for a 250ml bottle of shampoo.

                        CONCLUSION
                        ------------------
Both my children and I really like this shampoo, it cleans their hair nicely and leaves them smelling lovely!
It's not a bad price, especially when it's on offer so I would probably suggest getting a couple while it's on offer. Also as you don't need to use a lot each time it lasts for quite a while.

                        Would definitely recommend!

                        5 / 5 from me!

Thank you for reading my review, I hope it was useful

                        xx Mrs K xx
