Our Daughter Loves bath time. Unfortunately she has always suffered from dry skin and so instead of the nice exciting bubble baths we have been using very bland ones designed for sensitive skin or prescribed by the doctor.
Recently her skin had improved a lot and while we were out shopping I decided to give this a try.
It comes in a lovely girly pink bottle with a picture of a mermaid and the lid is the crown on her head (i think the image has been updated since the picture above but it is very similar).
The bottle is a nice shape and easy to hold and it is a good size at 500ml especially as you only need a small amount so lasts a good amount of time.
The cap is a screw top and easy to undo. The bubble bath inside is a lovely bright bubble gum pink and has a strawberry smell to it.
I put a big blob under running water and it creates lots of bubbles, enough to full the bath. The bubbles also last without just dissolving into the water, even after a bath marathon there are some left behind when we get our daughter out.
The best thing for us is that her skin has not re-acted. The bottle says it is hypoallergenic and PH balanced and suitable for sensitive skin.
So now she has a lovely girly pink bubble bath she can enjoy without the dry skin afterwards - full marks for this one Matey!!
We brought the smart trike 3 in 1 for our daughter when she was about 14 months old.
It has been one the best purchases we have made so far! we put a lot of thought into buying this as it is a lot of money and we read a lot of reviews that seem to be mixed.
our main reason for buying it was that our daughter HATED being in the pushchair. Every trip to the shops was a battle and became really stressful. She just wanted to get out and as she was not yet able to walk very far without being carried it was exhausting.
After trying everything from clip on toy bars to bribery with snacks and treats (i know no parenting book would advise this but when needs must!!) we started thinking about other options and this one came up.
We brought the pink and white version and it was very easy to assemble, it only took ten minutes. We use the side bars but not the straps and i think not feeling strapped in is one of the main reasons she loves it.
From the first time we took it out life changed! She loved it, she grabbed hold of the handle bars and away we went. Not crying, not trying to get out just a very happy little girl and a Very relieved mummy.
We now take this everywhere, it is very light weight and we have a 4x4 so it is easy to just pick up and throw in the back of the car, no need to collapse or disassemble it at all.
It comes with a handy little pouch to keep your keys, phone, snacks or whatever in so they are close to hand and it has a little basket at the back which holds our changing bag or one bag of shopping but not much more.
There are however a few drawbacks. There is not a lot of room for carrying your shopping and the handle is not big enough to put the straps of the changing bag over. So not suited for big shopping trips if your on your own.
Secondly the steering is a bit of effort if your not on smooth ground or if your walking a long way it starts to feel a bit clumsy and hard to steer.
We have not yet tried it without the side bars or the handle but i am confident she will like it as a ride on toy when the time comes.
This was perfect for us for short trips to the shops/ for a walk and saved a lot of tears and tantrums so a great buy even if it was a bit expensive.
We recently brought this for our 18 month old daughter, and unfortunatly so far we have been a little dissappointed.
We paid £29.99 from argos, it was 1/2 price reduced from £60.00.
When we went to collect it I was very excited. The picture on the fount looked great and it was quite big so we were optimistic.
Inside was six littlepeople figures as well as a train, merry go round, a spaceship ride a swing boat ride and a Ferris wheel (this is not in the picture above, not sure why).
The Merry go round takes AA batteries and when you press the button it turns and plays music, which seems great except that the batteries only control the music, not the motion so you have to press the button furiously to keep it spinning and our 18 month old cant press hard or quick enough and gets a bit frustrated and bored. It would be much better if this could spin on its own.
The Ferris wheel takes AAA batteries (not sure why as like the merry go round this is simply to play music) again all the motion is created by manually turning the handle (again our daughter can't yet do this on her own).
There are no other features, except that you can swing the boat with your hand. push the train along etc
The people push down into the seats on the rides so they don't fall out when your spinning, pushing etc.
both the ferris wheel and the merry go round have two sound setting low and high which is always handy.
This does have some very good points:
It is well made an colourful, there is a variety of things to play with and you get six different figures to play with.
I think when our daughter is a bit older she will appreciate this a lot more and to be fair I think it is recommended for 2 years plus so maybe this is our fault to some degree. However she has lots of other toys aimed at older age groups and it hasn't been a problem.
For the £29.99 it was a good toy, not fantastic but quite nice.
However if we had paid full price at £60 I think we would be very disappointed indeed.
We brought this book for our daughter when she was about 1 year old.
She loves book and she went through a phase or really enjoying these 'touch and feel books'
Each page has a different type of monkey, with for example a soft tail, hairy eyebrows etc.
It is nicely illustrated and is a nice simple idea for a story for very little children.
The reason I have given this only one star is because when our daughter started teething, she would often try and chew on her books, this is one of the reasons we brought hard back books for some time.
One day i noticed she had picked this one up and had chewed on the 'eyebrows' the little rough hairs were poorly attached and were coming out in clumps, she got the hairs in her mouth and the paper of the page had been scraped off by her front teeth.
The book was ruined but more importantly we were worried about the safety aspect, the last thing you want little ones doing is swallowing horrible bits of hair.
be careful if your little one likes to chew, this book is not very well designed for little ones who want to put EVERYTHING in their mouth!
Having an 18 month old daughter dettol is a must have in our house.
Until recently I had been using the traditional clear bottles of dettol spray for our daughter's highchair and the kitchen surfaces etc.
I wanted to give this a try as i like the idea of reducing the number of chemicals we use but still getting the whole 99.9 % of germs killing action!
I brought a large bottle as it was on offer and it is as pictured above.
I was surprised at how strong this smells, it smells a lot stronger than the old dettol spray and it actually smells like chemicals, which left me confused and feeling as though I had to keep rinsing off even though the bottle says it is not necessary.
It sprays a kind of foam pray not like the old clear liquid at all.
The smell is quite overpowering and stays in the air for a while after use.
Its hard to say if this leaves any chemical residue (as i have no way of testing) but I think when this bottle is finished I will be returning to the old style dettol.
My Husband brought me this shampoo for my birthday; I had been wanting to try it for some time.
I have very thick, wavy and frizzy hair and I have tried so many shampoos over the years I have lost count, from the very expensive to the very cheap.
I love the look of this product, the bottle is a nice design tall and slim and a lovely chocolate brown colour.
It has a nice easy to use pump and it dispenses a good amount so you don't have to pump like mad to get enough.
The best thing about the shampoo was the smell. it was a lovely sort of marzipan fragrance.
The smell stayed with me for a while after washing but it wasn't overpowering.
The wash felt nice to use, not as much foam as some and at first i was a bit concerned as it felt a little sticky as i was washing it out and my hair felt a little 'rough' to the touch so i was starting to worry this would end up in the shampoo graveyard otherwise known as the bathroom junk draw.
However when my hair dried it was lovely and soft and very clean feeling.
I love this shampoo now and I am already considering putting in a request for the matching conditioner for my Christmas list.
Having an 18 month old daughter we have used our fair share of baby wipes, the good the bad and the well dreadful!
We quickly found out after our daughter was born just how much money wipes and nappies cost, in short a fortune!!
So we tried some of the cheaper brands, brands that were on offer, shop brands etc and time after time we were frustrated by thin, flimsy wipes that tore when you tried to take one out, or pulled out 7 in one go, or were too dry to have any cleaning effect.
In the end we found these were the only wipes that actually work, they are not too think, they are nice and moist, don't irritate her bottom and you don't need to use 100 to get a decent result.
Now we just hunt around to find these on offer, i think wipes are one area where you do get what you pay for.
This body wash was on sale at our local supermarket a few days ago at 1/3 off and as we are trying to save money i thought i would give it a go.
I have very dry/sensitive skin and I have to be carefull what prodcuts I use. I have used other Simple skincare products in the past and never had a bad reaction, I like the fact they dont use Perfume or colours in their products.
The bottle is very simple in design (if you excuse the pun) but feels lovely to use, it is a nice soft plastic so the product comes out easily.
The body wash is a think, creamy consistancy and it produces a lovely rich lather. It left my skin feeling great.
although it was not fragranced it did have a nice 'clean' sort of smell to it.
It left my skin feeling moisterised and not at all dry.
Its fair to say this is not the most exciting body wash on the market, it wont stand out on your bathroom shelf or fill the air with exotic fragrance. But if like me all you want is a nice body wash that will leave your sking clean at a good price you cant go wrong with this!
I will be buying this one again.
Our daughter loves this little piano. It has several different activities to keep little ones amused.
The piano keys at the bottom play different notes when you press them and the corresponding light above lights up. they are brightly coloured and have little pictures on.
Then there is a little white disk to the left and to be honest i have never really understood what this is, maybe it is meant to be a kind of drum?
The best feature for our daughter is the microphone, she loves singing (more like shouting!) into it and hearing her voice amplified, she finds this fascinating and it makes us laugh watching her!
Then there is a story book this is really just two plastic sheets with pictures one and it allows you to use the piano in activity mode, our daughter is too young for this but she likes turning the pages.
Finally there is the little conductor joystick, he wobbles around when you move him but again it has never been clear exactly what he does? He seems bark and make the lights flash but that's all?
all in all this is a nice little toy but not very simple to operate (even for an adult)
It is nice and colourful and has two sound settings which is always a bonus.
Nice toy but a bit confusing
We brought the scuttlebug for our daughter when it was on offer at our local garden centre.
We had been looking out for one ever since she went to a friend's 2nd birthday party and seemed to love it so we decided to get one for her.
Our daughter was about 16 months old when we got it and she was able to use it straight away although at first she could only go backwards and forwards in a straight line and it has taken a couple of months for her to learn how to steer properly.
It is not very stable and she has fallen off it a few times, it seems to topple to the side. For this reason we only let her use it in the house as I am a bit reluctant to let her take in in the garden in case she topples over on the pavement. However she is getting a more confident on it and I think when she is a little bit older we would be happy for her to take it outside.
The wheels fold down so it is nice and easy to transport even if you have a small boot in your car.
We have it in pink and it is a lovely bright colour. It feels very good in terms of quality and our daughter loves scuttleing around on it.
All in all it is a great product and I would recommend it to friends.
I picked this little book up for our daughter (who is a big Peppa fan) when I was doing the food shop.
It is a sweet little book which tells the story of Georges first day at school. The illustration is ok but I find most Peppa Pig stuff a little basic in terms of detail it is nice and colourful though and my daughter loves it and I guess that is the main thing.
This book is one of her favourites at the moment and she likes to go through asking who all the characters are which is a little tricky as I don't know them all and only a couple are mentioned in the story by name as the main story revolves around Peppa and George (I guess I will have to brush up on my general knowledge!!)
It is a paperback but the pages and cover are quite good quality not too thin.
All in all it is a bit basic but our little Peppa fan wants to read it over and over again so it servers its purpose.
I buy lots of hand wash having an 18 month old daughter, between nappy changes, cleaning and making meals we get through a lot of the stuff!
I tend to buy what's on offer as long as it has some antibacterial qualities I'm happy and this says it is 'naturally antibacterial' so I brought some when it was on offer.
I have used a lot of hand washes but this one is by far the worst. It has a very overpowering smell, not a natural scent but something that smells very artificial and cheap.
Even after thorough rinsing the smell stays on my hands and then i can taste it on things i have handled such as my coffee cup.
The colour is different to the picture above a much brighter green.
After a few washes this left my skin feeling very dry and irritated.
This one is so bad I decided to banish it back under the sink and would only use it in an emergency if we had run out everything else.
A very disappointing buy.
The book has 8 animal sounds and the buttons are easy to press. The sounds include Lion, Frog, snake, puppy, monkey, elephant, giraffe and camel all the sounds are good quality and realistic.
The illustration is very simple but still very good. the book starts with 'I wrote to the zoo to send me a pet the send me an.... and the page opposite will have a 'lift the flap' and an animal underneath. As you progress through the book there is a problem with each animal e.g. too big too fierce etc until the last page when they send the perfect animal.
The pages are quite blank except for some text on and a small illustration so I would say this is defiantly more suited to younger children.
This is a lovely book and good fun for little ones, however we did make the mistake of giving this to our daughter when she was a little too young and as a result she managed to pull some of the flaps off as they are only lightly stuck down and not very heavy duty.
We brought this chair in the pink version for our daughter when she was about 16 months old.
We noticed she would often sit on the floor to watch cartoons and we wanted her to have somewhere she could sit and this looked perfect. I shopped about online and eventually brought it from Amazon for about £17 including delivery.
We were very impressed with how easy it was to put together, we just had to push the feet onto the bottom of the chair and then click the side table into place. It took about 2 minutes to do.
It came with batteries already inside and no fiddly packaging, a small detial but it just made it really nice and easy especially as our little girl was bouncing around trying to sit on it before we had even attached the feet!!
Our daughter loves pressing down the crayons and listening to the different songs the chair plays, the crayons are attached and just pop up and down when you press the.
There is also a little table lamp which is very sweet, when you press it, it activates the chair and plays a tune and it lights up like a real reading lamp.
There is also a little book (also attached to the side table) and as you turn the pages the chair tells you a story.
There is also a sensor in the centre of the chair so when it knows when our little girl sits down and then comes to life, it also knows when she stands up and says 'you're getting off the chair' and it means the chair doesn't keep playing music when it's not in use.
It is well made and has stood up to our daughter who is now 18 months climbing and standing on it!!
Lovely bright colours and lots of fun for little ones, our daughter sits on there either to play with the activities or just to sit and have a snack or watch cartoons so it has been a great buy.
I really can't fault this product at all (hence the five stars)
When I first saw Peppa Pig on TV I was not a big fan, My Husband commented that in every episode Daddy Pig plays the part of a comidy idiot and I thought the characters were to be honest a bit on the ugly side.
However our daughter LOVES all things Peppa Pig and as a result she is growing on me too. Theres little point in fighting it and the house is starting to collect Peppa merchandise with every passing week.
One of first things she had was this Peppa's Super Noisy Sound Book and so far we have been very impressed.
We have tried a few of these 'sound' books and they vary a lot in terms of quality. This one is quite large and well made. The sounds are also impressivly realistic and include everything from the sound of splashing in a muddy puddle and the sound of falling rain to George crying and Peppa laughing and everything inbetween.
Our daughter is 18 months and at the moment is limited to pressing the buttons at random to hear the sounds and going through page by page asking us 'whats that?' to which we answer 'thats Peppa... thats a car' etc etc. However for older children the story inside has little symbols of which button to press at appropriate points in the story and makes the reading experience nice and interactive and lets them play a part before they are able to actually read for themself.
The only critisism I have is that some of the pictures and button of Peppa look very simmilar and so if you are trying to follow the story it can be a bit confusing knowing which button to press when.
But overall we think its a lovely book, our daughter loves it as it is well illustrated so a nice little gift for a little Peppa fan.
