I always feel that John Frieda is one of the more trusted celebrity hair stylists. His 'No More Frizz' serum is one of the best products on the market and it is a product which I use regularly. His Volumising Shampoo was very impressive at first. After the first wash I was wowed by the volume and my hair did seem that bit blonder and shinier. I feel now that possibly this was just the effect of a new shampoo on my hair. After a few washes it felt like there was a thin film on my hair like a build up of residue that the shampoo was creating. The volumising effect decreased as I continued to use it which was dissapointing. My hair did go blonder with continual use which was good and I didn't use the product with the Volumising Conditioner which may have improved the overall results.
Boots has been on the high street for decades and we all trust them to deliver good quality cosmetics and toiletries that actually WORK! Since the success of their Protect and Perfect creams there can be no doubt that Boots is dedicated to delivering on their promises. This Time Delay Wrinkle Prevention Day Cream is no exception. It is light and provides an excellent base for make up. With a pleasant refreshing scent it is a lovely smooth and silky cream to put on before you head out into the world. My skins feel softer and looks more plumped up and nourished. I'm not usually one to advocate the use of one brand for skincare but I really would recommend the Night Cream with accompanies this product. It is packed full of vitamins and useful things to help keep your skin beautiful and plump. Prevention is better than cure and so far this cream has kept my wrinkles at bay!
Rimmel have long been at the forefront of cheap and lasting nail varnish. Their 60 Second formula is one of the best on the market and it does dry as quickly as it says it does! The colours are always bang on trend and change with the seasons meaning you can keep your nails fashionable too! With their new wider expansion brush painting your nails quickly has never been easier. It gives good, clean lines and means that you can build up thin layers of colour quickly making your varnish last longer once your nails have been painted. The colour is pretty chip resistant and if I use it on my toes it stays perfect for weeks! It is the perfect varnish to take on holiday as it dries quickly and once it's on it should stay on for the duration! It is great value for money so you can build up a library of colours.
Barry M is one of the most vibrant and fresh brands on the make up scene. He specialises in fun make up with bright shades and lashings of glitter. His Nail Paint is a fantastic product and considering the price is excellent value for money. The nail varnish comes in a variety of great shades and it paints on easily, drying quickly. Unfortunately they do not have a very long life span and after only a couple of months they can begin to separate in the pot and become quite gloopy making them difficult to paint on nicely. Considering the cost this is not suprising and it is easy and cheap to replace them with a great new colour. Once it has been painted on the colour lasts well and there is little chipping. It can become quite tacky after a couple of coats so you need to watch your nails as they dry so you don't smudge them!
Max Factor's False Lash Effect Mascara is one of the best mascaras I have used in a long time. I have been a fan of the Max Factor mascaras since they launched the rubber brush a couple of years ago. The rubber brush is much better than the traditional ones and gives a more even coverage without clumping. It also lengthens and thickens lashes without the 'spide eyes' effect. The False Lash Effect brush is very large and if you have short eye lashes it is not ideal. However, for those of you with regular or long lashes then it is marvellous. The tube lasts for a good couple of months without running out or drying up and the black/brown which I use has a rich brown colour. It one of the more expensive mascaras on the market but it is a high end product and Max Factor are an ecellent make up brand.
Quantum of Solace is Daniel Craig's second outing as Bond and after the fantastic Casino Royale there was much anticipation that this film would be as good, if not better. Sadly I was disappointed. Though Craig maintains the complicated and brooding Bond that we fell in love with in Casino Royale the plot lets him down. I found the story dragged and though the action was fast paced and of a high quality it all felt too samey. Casino Royale was so refreshing because it told the story of Bond's broken heart as much as it was an action adventure. With no more back story to tell the film felt like it had reverted back to its old formula and though it was shiny and new it still felt tired. If you want a night in with a film that will provide some no fuss action and minor drama then this film delivers. Don't expect too much from it and it will be an enjoyable night in.
This is the ultimate single girl's film. Wonderfully observed and funny it tells the story of Bridget Jones; desperate singleton and all round average girl. Renee Zellweger piled on the pounds to play average girl Bridget who is genuine, warm and naturally funny. She characterises single women everywhere who are just looking for their Mr Darcy, played by the devilish Hugh Grant. He shrugs off his bumbling charmer role for a more bastardly one as Bridget's boss Mark Darcy. He is the classic bad boy and with his good looks and wit we fall for him just as much as Bridget does! That is until Colin Firth comes onto the scene, the rather more average friend of Bridget's family who ultimately wins her heart and teaches her a lot about love and relationships. With her big knickers and her big heart Bridget wins over men and women everywhere and reveals the desperation of the single girl's world. Thank god she gets her happy ending!
In The Loop is the movie version of Amando Ianucci's excellent The Thick Of It which has been shown on BBC2. This comedy is set in the fickle and backstabbing world of politics and spin and produces sharp, satirical humour. I loved The Thick Of It on BBC2 and am pleased to see that the format remains unchanged for the big screen. The characters are the same, the names and roles of some have been changed, but largely it is just like watching the series go large! With the addition of some excellent American characters this comedy remains consistently hilarious and well observed, making sly comments on the state of politics today. Malcom Tucker is an absolute joy as the head of spin and his tirades of abuse and constantly stressed and frazzled character makes for sensational viewing. I cannot recommend this film enough. Even if you are not into political satire there are laughs for everyone and it is much an enjoyable comedy as it is a commentary on modern day politics.
Apparently this perfume had a lot of publicity when it was launched but when I told friends that I had bought it none of them had heard of it! The packaging is sleek and stylish with an all black bottle that has some ribbed detailing on it, there is also a gold plate attached to the bottle with the name and the designer inscribed. I personally find it all a bit footballers wives and think it is quite a tacky design. The fragrance itself is light and summery with a mixture of fruity and floral scents. It is quite a heady scent with a blend of spices and citrus fruit coming through quite strongly. At first I liked the smell but as the day wore on and it developed on my skin it began to break down a bit. You need to re-apply quite often to maintain the scent; I found it wore off quickly.
I love Nokias and this phone is no exception. I love the simple functionality of Nokias and if you've used them before then you know what you're getting; an easy to use phone that is reliable. It has a pretty good camera considering it's a slide phone and it has a good memory capacity. It is able to store a lot of messages at once and tons of contacts. It has all the functions you need from day to day but it's not as fancy as some other phones. It does have some radio and music settings which are a bonus but in no way replace an mp3 player. The battery life is good considering it is quite a slim slide phone and it is quick to top up on the go. This is a classic Nokia and although it is stylish it is also solid and should last you a long while!
I've had this phone for nearly two years and so far it's still going strong! I've dropped it countless number of times and it's survived some of my wildest nights out. The fact that it has touch buttons for the main menu functions takes some getting used to and at the beginning it can be incredibly frustrating. However, if you persevere then you will be able to enjoy an easy to use and practical phone. I must say that the camera on it is nothing special so if you're looking for a two in one jobby then this isn't the phone for you. It calls and texts just fine and that's all I really use it for. It does have an mp3 function but it's nothing to shout about. If you use your phone a lot, calling or texting for most of the day then you will find the battery doesn't last very long. When I use my continuously I sometimes have to charge it every night just to be sure it won't die on me the next day. Once it's down to two bars I know I've only got a couple of hours use left.
When you're deciding which mp3 player to choose there really is only one option. iPods have to be the original and the best mp3 player around. I've had one of some description for the last five years now and have found them all to be pretty durable. Any problems I've had within the guarantee have been sorted quickly and without hassle. It has a fantastic storage capacity and you are able to upload music and video really quickly and easily. One of the best things about getting an iPod is the fact that you get iTunes with it. In my opinion it's the best place to get your music, though the copyright on the songs can be annoying if you want to share them. The podcasts are exclusive to iTunes and there are some amazing free things to subscribe to. It has a great battery life and it doesn't mind taking a few knocks. The only thing I don't like is the headphones. They are quite flimsy and everyone can hear your music on the bus even if it's not that loud. Just replace them and you have a great player!
Since I lost my digital camera on a night out I've been looking for one to replace my old faithful! This camera was recommended to me by a friend and so far it has served me well. I've had it for about four months now and taken it with me to all sorts of parties and nightclubs and so far it has survived them all. It's always getting pulled in and out of people's hands; I've even dropped it on the floor and it's survived thus far! It has a great flash so even in the darkest corners of a club you get clear and focused images with minimal red eye. It has a good memory capacity and it is very simple to upload them onto your computer. You can get them onto facebook in seconds! The battery has a good life and so far it has lasted me to the end of the night and well into the day after. As long as you look after this camera it should last you for a long time.
A breadmaker is something I always thought I would like to have but I feared that it would get used once and then start to gather dust in a small corner of the kitchen. A friend gave this to me as a birthday present and I haven't looked back. It is more expensive than some other machines on the market but having seen friends use others and hearing about their experiences this is definitely worth the investment. The recipes are easy to follow and very varied, I never knew there were so many types of bread that you could make! I haven't bought any bread or bread rolls in months and whenever my friends come for dinner they always comment on how fresh and tasty the bread is, you really can't get better than homemade! It's easy to clean and incredibly simple to use, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone!
I've had this juicer for about six months now. I previously had a smaller smoothie maker and wanted something that I could just chuck fruit into whole. Overall it is a good product and it can tackle most fruits very efficiently. It has two speeds, one for soft fruit like oranges or mangos and one for hard fruits like pineapples. At the beginning it did get a bit clogged up with fruit when I was processing a large amount, however, I think this was mainly due to my impatience and not the machines capability. Overall it has made me some great tasting juices quickly and easily. It doesn't give you a completely smooth juice but I personally think this is the point of fresh fruit juice. It's easy to clean and you can pop it straight in to the dishwasher without have to worry about carefully washing up the blades.
