Well, it has been almost 9 months now since I purchased my Blackberry Curve 8520, and I have to admit it is the BEST phone I have ever had!
When my contract was coming to its end last August I was very disappointed with my last choice of phone the Samsung Pixon. My biggest hate of the Samsung was the touchscreen factor as the Samsung was extremely slow and the screen would freeze every now and again. As most of us here, one of my very good friends has the infamous I-Phone and last August was chewing my ear off about upgrading to one. Maybe I would have if it was not for the fact the I-Phone has a touch screen (although by most accounts the touch screen is a lot better than the Samsung). But instead I went for their biggest rival the Blackberry.
The best thing about the Blackberry is the full querty keyboard. This makes using the phone a lot easier and simpler, especially when texting and emailing. I think I would find it hard to go back to a phone keyboard now.
The Blackberry also makes setting up your email account easy and it is extremely handy recieving all my emails by phone now. The internet browser is also surprisingly fast, making browsing on your mobile easy and fun!
All Blackberry users are also hooked up to Blackerry Messenger (a.k.a. BBM) which allows you to message anyone in the world for free. This is a fantastic idea and helps you to keep in touch.
Like the IPhone, Blackberry also have their own app store, where you can download loads of apps like Ebay and Facebook easily and simply. Apps are great when it comes to keeping in touch and with so many more apps coming on the market I can see this is the way forward.
This phone has done wonders for my social networking! I cant wait to see what comes next!
I love my Blackberry and have had no problems with it at all! I can see myself purchasing another in August - I will let you know!!
I have been watching this programme since I was a young kid pulling a sickie from school! This show comes on everyday from 10.30 to 12.30, just after the Jeremy Kyle Show.
It was presented for many years by the infamous Richard and Judy (who subsequently went over to Channel 4 to start their oen show) but is now presented by Philip Scholfield and the lovely Holly Willoughby (she recently replaced Fern Britton - good move ITV!).
The show is a magazine of loads of different segements which can be about current news affairs, fashion, cookery or talk about soap operas and much more.
The show also covers more serious topics such as illness and dosmestic violence, the producers are fab at coming up with new informative things to add to the show whcih has allowed it to continue for so long!
This is a great show which unfortunately I only get to see now and again now, I used to watch it a lot more at university! But it is fantastic morning viewing and is actually watchable unlike most daytime TV.
Although Richard and Judy can never be replaced I think Phillip and Holly do a great job and have a real on screen chemistry which works well in both the lighter and darker moments of the show.
I am sure this show will continue on for many years to come as it is no doubt a central part of UK culture. I think almost every person in the UK has at least heard of if not watched this programme which goes to show how much it is loved, especially by the at home mums and students alike!
Can't wait for my next sick day so I can watch This Morning!! Might have to be sooner rather than later!
Have you ever thought about trying to earn a living from home? Or do you want an extra income which is flexible around your life? Or are you a freelancer with some spare hours? Then People per Hour is the place you should head to!
A fantastic site where you can both find and post jobs and services which you offer or require. The site is free to register and search for jobs but if you want to use all the sites options you do have to pay for some but it is not essential to obtain work! It is also completely free to add all your relevant work experience and services you can offer into your profile for free so there is no doubt you can find work for free on here!
The site uses a feedback system which is primarily based on that of Ebays with one notable difference. The difference is that you can also add feedback from sources other than People per Hour. For example you can use references from your current day job or other people you have worked for. Just send admin the details and they will verify them and add the feedback to your profile. This is great for anyone who is just starting on this site as it is difficult to get employers to trust you. However like Ebay the more you bid and get yourself known the more you will be trusted.
The site is also great for businesses who are looking for someone to do some freelance work. The service works well for business too as they are able to search worldwide for a potential candidate and in some ways can even make savings due to factors like not having to hire office space or pay for a full time employee.
With safe guards for both the employer and employee with respects to getting paid this is a fabulous site for all sorts of people from those looking to make a full time income online to those looking for a bit on the side. Great for those with a bit of spare time!
So if you need some MORE MONEY be sure to check out this site!!
MoneySupermarket is an online comparison site which allows you to compare prices from various retailers. Comparison sites are an excellent tool which allow you to search a load of retailers by filling in just one form which generates and compares prices from them.
This is a great site as you can search for all kinds of things like car insurance, home insurance, travel insurance, loads, credit cards, mortgages, bank accounts.
I have used this comparison site when searching for my car insurance and unlike some of the other sites it doesn't seem to charge a commission as the prices were the same as if I searched direct with the company.
I have found that on some other sites they seem to add a little extra on top and actually charge more than going direct to the company!
I have also used the site to search for flight prices and again the site was very quick to search and came up with some excellent prices which and I even ended up booking through a site I found through MoneySupermarket.
This site is easy to use and is simple enough for even those who don't use the internet a lot. The site is quick to produce the results and you can gaurente they will be competitive and worth a follow up!!
So make sure you don't pay more than you should and give this a wizz! You cant beat it when you find a great deal!
I hate the weekly shop but of course it has to be done so when I have to go (and cannot convince the mrs to go!) I always choose Sainsburys!
Sainsburys have been around for years, and its owner has just made a record by giving away £1 billion to charity. It is always goos to hear big business doing their bit for charity as they just dont do enough!
In my opinion Sainburys offers the best value in service and quality. Yes they prob are a bit more expensive than the likes of Asda and Tesco but when it comes to quality, especially their own brand products, Sainsburys always comes first. They are however not a rip off like Waitrose and deliver as good a service as them without charging the earth.
Whenever I visit my local store the staff are always around and if I can't find anything they will always help with a smile. I don't know if its like this around the country but the management seem to know how to keep their staff happy in this store! The store is also always clean and clearly laid out which is always a plus because I hate having to spend time finding things!
They also offer their own reward system with their Nectar card. As with all the big supermarkets you get more points the more you spend and can then redeem them for various items in store or vouchers for holidays etc.
I hate going to superamrkets but if I have to its always Sainsburys!!
A Poundland recently opened up in my local town centre, as in many others all over the UK, I had to go in to see what all the fuss was about.
Originally I thought very little of this store and belived all they must sell is cheap knock offs and short dated stock but since going in there I was pleasently surprised.
Dont get me wrong this is by no means a well orgainsed and well presented shop and there is no gaurantee on which items will be available on any given day, so dont go in expecting to see what you did last time.
However, if you are lucky you can spot some great bargains for all kinds of things from sweets and crisps to shampoo and soap and all for a measely one pound! The store also has some great £1 deals on branded products which cost up to 10 times more elsewhere!
The store is a wonderful concept and is certainly working well. With being in the middle of an economic crisis and everyone looking to save a penny you can see why these stores are packed out every saturday all across the UK.
Although this is not a store where you will get top quality service or products it is definatley worth a look as you are sure to spot a good bargain!
Argos is a high street department store with a difference!
The store is unique as instead of having a large store where you can browse the items they a catalouge from which you browse and choose which item you want. Once you have picked your items the store ask you to write down the products numbers on their specially printed forms and take them to the cashier who will look up the item and ask for payment.
Once the payment is taken you are given a reciept with a collection point from where you can pick up your item. Then once your number is called you then go up to the counter and are given your item. This process is used in order to cut down costs and so in turn they are able to offer cheaper and more items than many other high street shops.
Argos have a wide range of items from jewellery, household items and toys. You can find so many different things in the catalouge and most of them are well priced too. Argos has been a part of the UK high street for many years and with its unique style I hope will be a part of it for much longer. Although this is questionable since the collapse of its rival Index.
Argos also offer an online service where you can order to your home or reserve your items to be picked up from in store. Argos have always given me great service in store and online and I love there great deals especially when there is an end of catalouge clearance!
Great place with a wide choice and bargain!
I still remember the days when this choccie bar was called Marathon, but hence they decided to change to it the name it had in the US to Snickers and it has been a big hit ever since!
This is one of my fav choc bars around mainly due to the fact it is one of the few that actually fill you up when you are hungry. Most other bars don't seem to hit the spot quite like a Snickers manages to do.
The mix of nuts, chocolate and nougat go so well this is definately a tasty tasty sweet snack. It is unlike any other type of sweet and in my opinion a lot better than its main rival Mars! And who can't help but love the new adverts feat Mr T from the A Team! Get some Nuts!
However, even though it is very delicious it is an extremely fatty indulgance. This is by no means a chocolate bar for those of you trying to shift a few pounds. One of these will render your visit to the gym useless, trust me read the info on the pack!
It is because of this that unfortunately I only eat this bar occasionally. Even though it is one of my favs when it comes to chocolate I do sometimes give it a miss simply because I know hoe unhealthy it is.
A great indulgance which I treat myself to when I have been a good boy!
The interenet has provided us with loads of things and blogging is one of the most popular! There are so many types of blogs today from news blogs to celeb blogs and much much more. All kinds of people from politicians to everyday people also write blogs and it is a popular way of communicating your thoughts and feeling in a diary type way but for all to see!
Blogger.com is a Google owned blog based site which allows new and experiened users a place to start there very own blog. They offer a free service which is easy to use even for those of you who are a but scared of technology. Blogs can be about anything (apart from illegal activity!) and can be used as a hobby or even a way to make some extra money.
I have used Blogger for about two years now and in my opinion it is the best blogging site out there. It is so user friendly especially for new bloggers, I knew nothing about blogging when I first started but managed to make a professionally looking blog with blogger with relative ease.
The site allows you to fully customise the blog for all the experienced bloggers too! The site allows you to change everything from the apperance to the adverts displayed on the side. You can eaily add your own content which is great if you are looking to advertise your site on your blog.
I primarily use blogging to promote my site but i would reccomend it to everyone as it is a great communication tool with which I have found many great like minded people through. Even if you only read the blogs available Blogger if definately worth a look!
Since the interent first became popular, so have the forums and messageboards avaible on the ner. Forums have been around since I first started using the internet and I find them an extremely useful source of information.
Most forums on the interent are part of sites which specialise in certain topics. The forums are a place where like minded people can meet up and discuss any new things which have been happening. Forums that I am a part of include Money Saving, BMW and cricket related forums. The amount of collective knowledge is amazing and I love the communtiy aspect of all the forums!
Forums are a great way of finding out information about almost anything. If you are looking for an answer to a hard question I would advise finding the relevent forum and asking there. As long as you ask politely and follow the rules of the board the community members will be more than happy to help you. I have done this many times and it has answered my questions on loads of things like when I had trouble with my car.
Forums are one of the few things which have not really changed from a design aspect with most looking the same as they did years ago. Howevr with the revolution of the social network sites I am sure this will change in the near future.
I find forums an excellent source of info and a great way to pass time with like minded people! My fav forums are CrookedTongues.com, MoneySavingExpert.com and Pistonheads.com - check them out!
When I first heard of online shopping, I thought it would be the next in revolution in retail and it would save on both time and effort. However, after trying it out with Tesco's I have completely changed my mind and unless some major changes are made I doubt I will ever use this service again.
Although I am an advocate of online shopping (I sell goods over the intenet myself!), I think it only works with packaged goods. The problem with supermarket shopping is that it is mainly perisable goods which you want from them like fruit and vegetables. Unfortunately when I ordered these items from Tesco's they were of poor quality and I had to refuse to take them which meant I had to go to the supermarket myself anyway. Whenever I go to the superamarket I always pick out the nice fruit and veggies but it seems Tescos do not teach this to their pickers! Either that or they are using as an avenue to get rid of old stock!
One of the better things about this service is that you are able to choose what time you want your delivery but dont expect the driver to be happy at random times of the day and night. The driver which was sent to me was extremely unhelpful and it seemed like all he wanted to do was go home.
I did call Tesco to tell them about my experience but they were not really helpful and just offered me free Clubcard points which the girl assumed was more than adequate!
Unfortunately I will not be using this service again unless they can gaurantee me quality food everytime. I am sure the service will improve in the future but until then I would suggest to stay away!
Paypal is one of the most widely used and recognised internet payment services around today.
Paypal allows buyers to sercurely pay for their items without giving their credit card details to the seller. It also allows sellers to recieve payments in a safe and secure manner. Paypal charges per transaction which it states can be paid by either party but this is mostly paid by the seller.
I am a seller and buyer on Ebay so I have used Paypal many times. I do think they offer a worthwhile service and although it is expensive (very expensive!!) they do what they say. However, as with most things it is the users which have unfortunately given Paypal a bad name.
Paypal has very clear rules which are cleary being abused by both buyers and sellers. There seem to be a lot of people who have seen the flaws in Paypals dispute system and are cleary using it for their personal gain. I won't go into details of what they do but it is easily searched for. Even though I have personally never had any problems I have seen friends and family being scammed to know it can easily happen.
My best advice when it comes to Paypal for sellers is always send recorded and keep your proof of posting forever. And for buyers is to ensure you always buy from a reputable seller and always communicate with the seller about any problems, as this is sometimes easier and more polite than going straight to Paypal.
I am a user of Paypal so I cannot say it is a bad system but I always advise people to read, read, read BEFORE buying or selling on the net and ask others for advice.
One of the first shows ever to be shown on Channel 4 and has been running for over 25 years, Countdown is a staple part of C4's afternoon schedule.
A quiz show which is more for those who want intellectual recognition rather than monetary reward, it is has two alternating rounds; the numbers and letters, with a final countdown conundurum round. This is by no means an easy game as the contestants battle it out against one another to acheive the highest score.
In the letters round each contestant takes it in turns to choose 9 random letters from which they have to make the longest word out of. This is always hard to do and unless I have a dictionary I rarely get more than 6 but I have seen contestants get 8 and even a 9! In the numbers game the contestants pick 6 numbers which have to add to a randomly generated number. The final deciding round is the countdown conundrum which is a 9 letter mixed word which the contestants have to re arrange to find the correct word. The fastest contestent gets the final 10 points.
This is a great show which I regualary watched as a student. Although it was a lot better in the days of Richard Whitely and Carol Vorderman, it is defiantley still worth a watch and its always great fun to sit with a friend and see who can make the longest words. Although if your friends are like mine you may have to double check them in the dictionary!!
When Who Wants to be a Millionaire first aired it was extremely popular and had everyone talking about it! However the concept of the show has quickly become repetitive and once the first person won a million pounds I have rarely watched the show.
The show is now shown in many countries and begins with 10 contestants who are asked to put four items into chronilogical order with the fastest finger winning a chance to join Chris Tarrant for a chance to play the game! The contestant then tries to answer 15 questions in order to become a millionaire. The first few questions are always simple with 99% reaching the £1000 although they do get increasingly harder as the amount of money to be won goes up. I have only ever seen a couple of people who walk away with nothing. To be honest you have to be a bit stupid to.
The contestant also has three lifelines; a 50:50, ask the audience and phone a friend. The contestant can use these lifelines when they get stuck but they can only use them each once! The contestant has to time these right and ensure they can trust in the answer they get back as this has backfired on many occasions!
The show seems to be a good concept for a quiz show on paper but due to its long drawn out process which Chris does nothing to help it quickly gets boring after you have watched it a few times. Although they have tried to spice things up with Celebrity and charity versions of the show this does not really make it any better. I think they could maybe try to introduce new ideas to try to make the show different every time.
OK to watch a few times but really does get boring!
Eastenders is in no doubt at the heart of the entire nation! One of the longest running soaps in the UK, you can gaurentee some kind of drama in Eastenders!
This show has now been running for 25 years and has become more and more popular as time has passed. Everyone I know loves Eastenders and it is always a talking point with whoever you meet. When their is a big storyline it is the talk of the nation. Although I do know some people who seem to take it too seriously!!
With its memorable story lines and explosive characters you have to love good old Eastenders. When it first started the show was aired twice a week but due to its ever increasing fans the show is now shown four times every week! They even aired a special live version of the show to celebrate the shows anniversary. This was an amazing feat and the show was very entertaining and successful.
I love to watch Eastenders and have been doing so for many years. Although the show is by no means intellectually stimulating it is extremely entertainly with storylines like who killed Archie/ Phil (vote-which one was better??) and with its long standing chartachers like Dot Cotton and Ian Beale. The show is very life like and it is easy to relate to the charaters in the show which is why the show has been successful in appealling to the whole family young and old.
This is a soap which I am sure will be running for another 25 years!
