West Ham are without Frank Lampard and Stuart Pearce this season, but they have just signed Don Hutchinson who will be a good buy for the club. There are quite a few good players in the squad, but I don’t think West Ham will do that well this season. Below is my opinion of their best 11: Goalkeeper – David James David James is currently injured and he will be out for around 6 months at least. He was injured in an England game before he had even played a premiership game for West Ham. He is a good goalkeeper and was signed in the summer for about 3.5 million pounds from Aston Villa. Right Back – Sebastien Schemmel Schemmel is a decent player and a good tackler. He seems to like getting forward and likes to run with the ball. He is an ok passer but I don’t rate his shooting skills. Centre Back – Rigobert Song Rigobert Song is a decent player and one that can form a good partnership with Christian Daily. He is quite talented and a good tackler and passer. Centre Back – Christian Daily Christian Daily is a strong defender and a good tackler. I think he can form a good partnership with Song. West Ham will be hoping he performs well in matches and doesn’t cause mistakes, which could lead to the opposition scoring as they could fins themselves near the relegation zone this season. Left Back – Nigel Winterburn Nigel Winterburn is a decent defender, although he is about 35. He hasn’t got many seasons to go before he retires, probably 1 or 2 at the most. Right Midfielder – Joe Cole Joe Cole is a talented midfielder and I think he could become a great player if he keeps on improving like he has been over the past year or 2. He is young and very skilful, as well as being quite fast. Centre Midfielder – Don Hutchinson West Ham signed Don Hutchinson for a fee of around 5.5 million pounds. He
was bought only a week or 2 ago and I think he will do well at the club he used to play for. He was signed from Sunderland and I think he has added a lot more strength to West Ham’s midfield. Centre Midfielder – Michael Carrick Michael Carrick is another young player and one that will probably be an England regular in a few years. He is a talented midfielder and a good tackler. He is also a decent passer and one of West Ham’s best players. I think that he and Joe Cole could be future stars for England and any club they are playing for. Left Midfielder – Trevor Sinclair Trevor Sinclair is a decent midfielder, although I do not think he is as good as he used to be, especially when he played for QPR. Sinclair is quite skilful and fast and a good passer of the ball. Striker – Paulo Di Canio Paulo Di Canio is probably West Ham’s best player. He has scored quite a lot of goals since joining the club and quite a few of them have been amazing strikes. I still remember the goal he scored against Wimbledon, where he volleyed home from a long pass, just inside the penalty box. He is a skilful player and one that West Ham will be hoping can perform well all season. Striker – Frederic Kanoute Frederic Kanoute is a really good striker who can score goals. He scored quite a few times last season for West Ham and they will be hoping he can do the same again this season. He is fast and quite a good finisher, although he does sometimes completely miss the target when shooting.
Arsenal have got a few world class players in their squad and overall, there whole squad is very good. Below is my opinion of their best 11: Goalkeeper – David Seaman Many people thought that he would lose his place as Arsenal’s number 1 keeper to Richard Wright after they signed him in the summer from Ipswich, but he is still Arsenal first choice keeper. Seaman is in his 30’s but he is still an excellent keeper. Right Wing Back – Fredrik Ljungberg Although he is a midfielder, I would play him in this position because I reckon Arsenal’s best tactics are 3-5-2. He can score goals and has a good right foot, although he is not really a good tackler. Centre Back – Sol Campbell He signed for Arsenal in the summer having spent quite a few good years at archrivals Tottenham. He will become a great signing for Arsenal as he is one of the best players in the world, in my opinion. Centre Back – Tony Adams He may be in his 30’s but he is still a great defender and a very good tackler. His fitness seems to be dropping so I reckon he has only got about a year or 2 left before he retires. Centre Back – Martin Keown Martin Keown has become a great defender over the past few years and he has also earned himself a regular spot in the England team. He is another good tackler, as well as being a good passer of the ball. Left Wing Back – Ashley Cole Ashley Cole has recently become a regular in the English team and he is also a regular in the Arsenal team. He likes to get forward and he has got a good left foot on him. He also has got some pace, which helps him as a wingback. Centre Midfielder – Patrick Viera Viera is probably Arsenal’s best player. He is a great tackler and passer of the ball and he can also score some important goals. He does have a disadvantage as he often gets booked in m
atches and sometimes gets himself sent off and ends up missing matches for Arsenal. He has already been sent off about 7 times in his Arsenal career. Centre Midfielder – Giovanni Van Bronkhurst He was signed from Rangers in the summer for about 8.5 million pounds. He is a good midfielder who can score goals and I think he will form a good partnership with Viera, once they start playing together. Centre Midfielder – Robert Pires He was one of the players of the season, last year. He is a great midfielder who can score goals, as well as use his skills to set other players up. Striker – Thierry Henry Henry scored 20+ goals last season and he will probably do the same again this season. He is very quick and a good finisher. He has already scored about 18 goals this season in all competitions and he is leading the amount of goals scored in the premiership so far. I think he will finish top scorer this season. Striker – Sylvain Wiltord I decided to pick Wiltord, instead of Berghamp because I would say that Wiltord is a better finisher than Berghamp. He is also faster than him, which is always a bonus for strikers as they can use their pace to take on the opposition. There are many other players who I considered to be in this team of players including Richard Wright, Matthew Upson, Dennis Bergkamp and Lauren.
Ipswich had a really good season last season as they finished 5th having been said to be one of the favourites to go down. They have got a good squad of players, but I think mid table is where they will finish this season, possibly lower. They are currently bottom of the premiership although they have a good squad of players. Below is my opinion of their best 11: Goalkeeper – Matteo Sereni Sereni was signed by Ipswich from Sampdoria in a 4.5 million pound deal in the summer. He looks like a good keeper, but I don’t think he is as good as Richard Wright, who left Ipswich in the summer to join Arsenal in a deal worth around 6.5 million pounds. Right Back – Titus Bramble The young England U21 International has shown many people what he is capable of and he has brought a lot of interest for top clubs. Apparently, Man United were thinking of buying him, which says a lot about the player. He is a strong defender and I think he will get into the England team within the next few years, having played quite a few times at the U21 level. Centre Back – Chris Makin Chris Makin signed for Ipswich last season in a 1.25 million pound deal. They signed him from Sunderland and I think he has been a really good bye. He is a decent defender and he has formed a good partnership with Hermann Hreidarsson. Centre Back – Hermann Hreidarsson Hermann Hreidarsson signed for Ipswich at the beginning of last season in a deal that cost the club a record 4 million pounds. If you watch him play, you will see that he always tries to win everything he can and that he is a solid defender. He sometimes likes to get forward and can also play as a defensive midfielder. Left Back – Jamie Clapham Jamie Clapham started his career at Tottenham, but he only made 1 appearance for them. He then signed for Ipswich and he has improved every year, ever since then. He is about 26 and so he s
till has quite a few seasons to go. He has also been a regular in the Ipswich team for quite some time now. Right Midfielder – Martijn Reuser Martijn Reuser has recently attracted interest from Tottenham and he was said to be very flattered by the news, but he has just signed a new deal to keep him at Ipswich until 2006. He is a really good midfielder and he scored 5 goals in his last 9 games last season. Centre Midfielder – Jermaine Wright I haven’t heard much about this player but I have seen him a coupe of times on TV and he looks quite impressive. He is a good all-round midfielder and he ahs started in all 3 of Ipswich’s opening games of the season. Centre Midfielder – Matt Holland Matt Holland is definitely one of Ipswich’s best players. He is a great captain of the club and a great midfielder. He has got all the right things needed by a decent midfielder and he always gives his best for the club. Left Midfielder – Finidi George Finidi George was signed in the summer by Ipswich and he has already scored 2 goals in the opening 3 games for his new club. He is a great player and many consider him to be world-class, or at least he used to be anyway. I wouldn’t quite say he was that good, nut he is a good player and I think he will score quite a few times this season for Ipswich. He has also played for Ajax, Betis and Mallorca in his career. Striker – Marcus Stewart Markus Stewart stunned many people last season, including myself, as he scored more than 20 goals for Ipswich in their first season back in the top flight for about 5 years. He showed that he is a great finisher and he is also quite fast. I am not sure whether he will score as many goals this season, although he is capable of doing so. Stewart is currently injured, which is a huge loss to Ipswich who are currently bottom of the premiership, although they are doin
g well in the UEFA Cup. Striker – Alan Armstrong Alan Armstrong signed for Ipswich form Middlesborough about 1-2 years ago. He is a decent player who can score goals. He is a good player and someone who works well with Markus Stewart. I think they can form a good partnership up front this season, with Finidi George playing just behind them, or on the left wing.
Man United have got some of the best midfielders in the world, as well as one of the best strikers in the world. The problem with them at the moment is their defence, although their keeper is simply brilliant. Below is my opinion of their best 11: Goalkeeper – Fabien Barthez Barthez is considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world and I agree. He is an excellent keeper and I admire the way he likes to try and take on the opposition with his dazzling skills. He is a great shot stopper and a player that practically every team in the world would want. He has recently made quite a few mistakes that have resulted in the team conceding goals and losing games, but he is still a quality goalkeeper. Right Back – Gary Neville Gary Neville is a really good defender and he has shown what he can do over the past few years. He is also a regular in the England side, which says a lot about him as a player. He is a good tackler and passer and likes to help Beckham out a lot when going forward. Centre Back – Laurent Blanc Laurent Blanc has played for quite a few games for Man United this season, since signing on a free transfer after the sale of Jaap Stam to Lazio for 16 million pounds. Blanc is a quality defender, although he is about 35 years old, nearly 36. His first impression was that he would be a good signing, but he has shown over the past month that he isn’t capable of lasting the full season in defence. He is a good player but he is quite old and I reckon that come the end of the season, Man United will be looking for another defender. Blanc has scored 2 goals so far, including his first at Old Trafford earlier against Boavista in the Champions League.. Centre Back – Wes Brown Wes Brown is the player I think should partner Blanc. He is young and talented and a really good tackler. He doesn’t go forward too much, but he is a player who is till learning and
improving and he can only get better playing alongside Blanc. Left Back – Mickael Silvestre Silvestre isn’t exactly the best left back in the premiership and he is a player who I would replace in order for Man United to prove they are one of the best in the world, but he is still a good player. He is a good tackler and passer and likes to get forward and makes runs with the ball. Right Midfielder – David Beckham What can I say about David Beckham? He is one of the best players in the world. He is probably the best free kick taker in the world and his passing abilities are amazing. He is also quite fast and one of the best crossers of the ball in the world too. He is a player that every team would want in their side. Centre Midfielder – Roy Keane Roy Keane is Man United’s captain and a great one at that. He is a great player, a great tackler and a great passer. He doesn’t score many goals, but he doesn’t really need to as United have got so many players who are capable of scoring at least 10 goals a season. Centre Midfielder – Juan Veron Juan Veron was signed in the summer for a record fee of 28 million pounds. He is one of the best players in the world and United signing him have made them an even better team. He is a great midfielder, as well as being a great passer and tackler. He can also score goals and I think he will score quite a few this season for United. Left Midfielder – Ryan Giggs Ryan Giggs is one of the most skilful players n the premiership. He is also one of the fastest and this makes him one of the best wingers in the premiership. He has got a lot of talent and if you watch him play, you will see what I mean. So many of his runs have ended in goals for the club and I think he will do the same again this season. He is currently injured and I think Man United are missing his amazing runs and skills that have l
ed to many goals for the club. Striker – Ruud Van Nistelrooy Ruud Van Nistelrooy was signed in the summer for 18 million pounds, after waiting about 18 months to join the club. He was going to join but then he was injured for a long period of time. Since joining them, he has shown what he can do and has already scored 11 goals this season. He is a great finisher and one of the best strikers in the world. He showed what he is capable of in a man of the match display earlier against Boavista in which he scored 2 galas. Striker – Paul Scholes Paul Scholes is a midfielder but he has been playing as a striker for the majority of the season so far. This is because since Veron has signed for the club, they are using Beckham, Giggs, Keane and Veron as their midfielders. But, Scholes is too good a player to leave out of the side and so United have started playing him along side Nistelrooy. I think once Scholes gets used to this position, he will score quite a lot, although he does prefer playing in midfield. Thanks for reading!
Sol Campbell is said by many to be a world-class football player. I think he is a great player, but I’m not sure whether I think he is world class or not. He has got most of the things you need to be a great defender, but he is the type of person who sometimes makes mistakes that lead to goals scored by the opposition. Sol Campbell is quite fast, which is always good in a defender because it gives them more of a chance when strikers such as Michael Owen come running towards you with the ball. Campbell is strong and so he is able to use his strength to give him a better chance of winning a ball from the opposition, especially if they are light. Sol Campbell is a great tackler and this is something that all defenders need to be, otherwise there is no point in them being defenders. Campbell is also a good passer of the ball, which is something else defenders should be otherwise they are likely to in the ball off the opposition, and then give it straight away again. Sol Campbell joined Arsenal in the summer on a free transfer, from their rivals Tottenham. This was one of the most shocking transfers ever in football, because Campbell was rated as Tottenham’s’ best player and then he goes and joins their rivals. One way, I don’t blame Campbell for leaving Tottenham because they haven’t exactly been winning much over the past 10 years and so Campbell joined a team that he thought can win trophies. But then again, Campbell could have joined a team like Liverpool, who are also capable of winning trophies. Campbell is a regular member of the England squad and he seems to forming a good partnership with Leeds United’s defender, Rio Ferdinand. They both played well in England’s win at Germany, but they have to watch what they are doing sometimes, because it was their fault that England conceded a goal against Germany. It has also been said that Sven is thinking of partnering Southgate with Ferdinand, which wou
ld be a mistake in my opinion because Campbell is better than Southgate. Anyway, Campbell is only about 26 and so he still has quite a few years to go and to prove that he is one of the best defenders in the world.
Thought I make catch your attention with the title. Don't worry, I don't think this of Owen. Michael Owen is one of the best strikers in the world. If you wanted to watch a player in form, then Michael Owen would be that person. He just can’t seem to stop scoring at the moment, whether he is playing for Liverpool or England. He has scored about 7 goals already this season for Liverpool, and he scored that marvellous hat trick against Germany on Saturday. As a Liverpool player, Owen has played about 175 times, scoring roughly 96 goals in the process. This is an amazing number of goals to score in that many games and I am 100% that he will score a lot more in the future. In his first season, in the premiership, for Liverpool, he scored 21 goals. The following season saw him score 23, 2 better than the previous season. Like I have said, he has already scored 7 goals this season and we are only 3 premiership games into the new season. I think Owen could break the 30-goal barrier this season quite easily. As an England player, Michael Owen has made 32 caps and scored 14 goals. 3 of these goals came against Germany a few moths ago when England stuffed their opposition 5-1. This was a game that England needed to win to make them have a better chance of winning their group and qualifying automatically for the World Cup 2002 Finals, at the time. Owen scored his first hat trick of England and it could not have come against a better team. England had never beaten Germany, in Germany, until Saturday and England proved that they are capable of winning the World Cup. I feel that if Owen keeps playing like he is at the moment, he will keep scoring for his country and could end up easily as England’s best ever goal scorer. Since then, England have qualified for the World Cup Finals as they drew against Greece and Germany could only draw against Finland, although Germany are also through having beaten Ukraine in the Play-Offs.
Michael Owen is still a young player, but he is a player that every team would want in their side, especially now seeing as he can’t stop scoring. Overall, Owen is simply a fantastic player and a joy to watch.
Alan Shearer is one of the best English players ever, in my opinion. He is a great striker who can score goals and has always worked well for what ever team he has played for. He is currently a member of the Newcastle squad and he played for the first time in quite a while having been out through injury. He made his return when he came on during the 1-1 draw with rivals Sunderland. Since then, Shearer has scored quite a few goals including a quality striker against Aston Villa. Shearer has scored a lot of goals so far in his career and he was the first player to score more than 100 goals in the premiership, I think. Well, I know that he is 1 of only 3 players who have scored more than 100 in the premiership anyway. He didn’t score too many last season, but that was because he was injured for quite a long time and so he didn’t play as many game as he would have wanted to. I think he needs to play a few games, without getting an injury so that he can get back to his best and start scoring goals. Shearer quit International football last season, so he could concentrate on playing for just Newcastle, but he hasn’t played too much since then as he has been out with injury. He was a great striker for England and scored a lot of great goals for them. He never scored a hat trick for England, but he showed them what he was capable of doing and he was also a great captain for his country. I couldn’t believe it when he retired form International football because I thought that he and Michael Owen could form a great partnership up front and scored a lot of goals for England. Anyway, Owen is the main striker now for England and he proved against Germany what he can do by scoring his first International hat trick. Hopefully, Shearer will be playing football for quite a few years because I think he is truly great and I enjoy watching him play. Thanks for reading!
Virtua Tennis in my opinion is one of the best games available on the Dreamcast and should definitely be in your collection. The game is almost a year old now, and still it remains as one of the most graphically impressive games around, with superb gameplay and player movements. It's as realistic as they get and you will not be disappointed with your £19.99's worth. Virtua Tennis for Dreamcast continues the legend of Sega Sports titles. Spectators, ball boys, chair umps, everyone gets into your game and reacts to the scores. THE GAME There are 3 game modes that you can play on Virtua Tennis. There are the following type of courts in the stadiums: Grass Hard Carpet Sand Indoor GRAPHICS Not much to say here, other than that the graphics in this game are simply brilliant. Well worth buying the game if you like graphical games. OVERALL Overall, this is a game that everybody, who owns a Dreamcast, should have. It is a great game and will give you hours of entertainment. You might not even like watching Tennis or playing tennis, but playing this game is something you will like and you will not be disappointed. Fur Fighters, a game that is now available for just £7.99 from offline stores, as well as online – from such places as Special Reserve, and really is a must have title even at 3 times that price – under £10 is an absolute bargain and you really should take advantage of this incredible offer!!! So, firstly, what do the magazines say? Edge – one of the most popular all format gaming magazines rates Fur Fighters at 8/10, a very high score, they rarely give 9’s and I can’t remember when a 10 was awarded, so 8 – very good score – quote: “One of the best titles on Dreamcast”. Games-master award it 90%, saying it’s “The most satisfying gun action around... …it’s literally a blast.” Which is absolutely correct! Arcade award the highest score – on a 5 star rating they give Bizarre Creations little cracker a superb 5/5 “Fur Fighters is Fantastic”. I personally think that this is a delightful game, on of the best ones around. There’s a multiplayer mode as well as single player so even when you complete the 36 fantastically designed levels, you will still be able to play in the 2-4player modes - great fun, just like Golden Eye whereby you select a level and go around in the fluff match! Basically, this could be described “just another Golden Eye clone”, but Bizarre Creations have really gone to town with Fur Fighters. The idea – simply, one player you make your way through the 36 levels, after selecting a character from 6 funny looking animals – it’s funny and childish at first look, but you’ll soon be blasting your way through to beat the bosses at the end of the levels – 15 superb weapons will be at your disposal, you’ll have a great time utilising them I am sure! It’s a shoot ‘em up that looks all cute and cuddly, but when it gets down to it, the game is definitely right to be sui
table for 11 years of age +. Graphically impressive, very well rendered 3D, with some colourful looking levels, effective scenery and characters – really well done, a graphical delight in my view! The control system is simple to get to grips with – two different views to run around shooting with, and simple jumping, moving and climbing moves (for certain characters). It’s a really great entertaining game, with a one-player mode that will take at least 30 hours to complete – a great game that I would award the full 5 stars for. Thanks for reading.
UEFA Striker is a really good game on the Dreamcast, possibly the best football game on the console, for many reasons, although, as with many games, it’s not perfect, far from it in fact, but still you can’t go far wrong with this game, especially when it costs the right side of £10, you should easily be able to find this for £9.99, online and offline. Graphics are far better than the PlayStation football games, although I wouldn’t say that the visuals alone are enough to make a game worth buying – ISS Pro Evolution 2 is a rather good PlayStation football game, I’d say it’s better than UEFA Striker in gameplay, but visually this Dreamcast game by Infogrames is very good indeed. Playing – football games are notoriously associated with obscene score lines, but UEFA Striker is different. In fact it’s completely different – you’re actually going to have to direct your shot as well as change the power you put on it in order to stand a realistic chance of beating the incredible good goalkeepers, something that is actually rewarding for a change, it’s really very, very hard indeed. But, with practice makes perfect and you should improve with each game you play. The controls are simple to learn – you have a wide range of moves you can perform – bicycle kicks as well as diving headers, scissor kicks and individual skills including ball juggling even in play! Player animations are good, each footballer actually has eyes and a face, although you will see superior movements and realism in Fifa 2001 on the PlayStation 2, but then that is expected seeing as it was released about 2 years later. The teams all have the correct kits, although you may wish to change some of the team names in the options – Dennis Bergkamp plays for Arsenal NOT Highbury – and Blanco de Madrid is meant to be Real Madrid – etc… You can even create your own teams though, change the play
er names, change the faces, skin colour and hair style – should keep you playing for longer, knowing that the created teams are all top 5 star sides! You can play leagues, knockouts, world cups, tournaments or just friendly matches – select the weather options, game time, night or day match, golden goal or penalties – extra time options, even choose the stadium you’re playing at, but again, the names of these aren’t quite right. So it is officially licensed, just a bit strange – players are all given real names, and the commentators – Ron Atkinson and Jonathon Pierce are both pretty good at commentating, with exception to Ron Atkinson! A unique training mode does enrich the gameplay and longevity – a certification mode is basically there to help you improve your game – match situation, passing, tackling, shooting and penalties – hone your skills, get a better level of certification and you’ll be rewarded – new teams will be available to be played as, teams like Brazil etc. Replays are good, sound is fine and the graphics are great. UEFA striker does have a major flaw though – the keepers. They are flawless. Why? Simply because it’s near impossible to score against them, as I already said, this does mean you’ll play in more realistic score lines – none of this 23-45 business, instead you’ll be around 2-3 or 1-0, but the keepers are just not supposed to be this good. Very good indeed!
Ciao UK is one of the only online websites that pays you the consumer turned reviewer to write reviews, now called opinions, about a wide selection of products, but also services too. It's very much like Dooyoo.co.uk in principle, with a few major differences though. Right at this point I can tell you that I believe Dooyoo.co.uk is a superior site in nearly every way, and that is why I am here writing opinions now, but Ciao is not 'all bad' as some people may lead you to believe. Judging from the range of ratings of ciao from opinions by members here on dooyoo.co.uk - the experiences people have does vary considerably. Ciao doesn't pay you for your opinions anymore. They used to pay you 10pence, and the only way of claiming your money, is through a bank transfer - so it's just cash at the moment, but that's fine, still, here you can exchange miles for online, offline vouchers, give to charity as well as changing the miles to surf miles, or simply requesting a cheque when you make enough money, so Ciao is not as good with payments as dooyoo, and you may not be entirely happy with submitting your bank details online over the internet in order for ciao to pay you. Payments: minimum is £10, and it does take a very long time to get into your account. NEWS: Ciao, believe it or not, were having financial problems, and were heavily down on staff, but have since been bought or taken over - now run directly from France. Anyway, you write your view, you get paid for it. It isn't a lot, but if your opinion is particularly good, you could end up with a rather delicious slice of their premium fund, but more often than not you will end up with just £1, or nothing at all although you could be getting £15 for an amazing opinion. Rare though, have fun and good luck on that front, but bear in mind that you also get money every time a member reads your opinion - 1 pence, instead of the dooyoo.co.uk 30miles - essentially the 3 pence. So no
t as generous, but you're not going to earn a living writing opinions on either of the two sites - you should really be writing for more than just money, as I try to do - but the cash is of course an essential incentive. Another difference is the fact that you get 30 miles for every opinion that you write and it can be on anything, but on Ciao, you only get 1p for some of the categories that you write opinions on. Writing opinions. As I say, you can write on a large range of products and services - shops, televisions, vacuum-cleaners - practically anything, and you'll find your way around the site pretty easily, there's plenty of categories there so you will have a nice time writing opinions, in my view - search facility, and if they don't have the product or service that you wish to express a view on then you can always email or ask for them to add it to their site. Minimum word count = 120 words per opinion, but if you want to receive the best ratings - Very Helpful and Helpful, then you should be writing longer, more detailed and descriptive opinions - around the 350 + mark. Steer clear of getting Somewhat Helpful and Unhelpful opinions, you will more than likely get your opinions locked if they're particular poor, and do try and use correct spelling, punctuation and grammar. GET INVOLVED - get rating other people's opinions, add people to your trust lists if you like their style, write comments - keep on track, it will help you. You may meet some people there, make friends, have contrasting opinions and have a great time writing opinions, but I personally prefer Dooyoo due to the easier layout, the presentation, better colour scheme and generally the better response from the staff here at Dooyoo. Stars for ciao I would have to say: 3. Thanks for reading.
As a student, you get used to having a few free hours each week, a time when you feel that you can't really be bothered to do anything at all, other than relax in a comfortable chair, maybe have a bud and watch the game...or play on a games console with a couple of friends for a couple of hours in the afternoon. I'm now on a summer break, which is fantastic and oh so very relaxing, but the PlayStation games console has probably kept me sane for the last couple of years!! It is a brilliant console that is over 6 years old now, but has had some amazing games on it over the years. It does look dated now compared to the newest machines like the PlayStation 2 and the Dreamcast, but in all fairness the PlayStation has been the console to own in the 32bit years. Made by Sony it has seen well over 800 games being released for it, some of which are just superb. It has 2 controller ports, but if you want to play a four player game then you'll have to buy a multi tap, but most games are 1 or 2 player only on the PS. The graphics from game to game vary - the early titles don't look that great by today's standards, but you can see how they have progressed and improved as the newest titles on the PlayStation all look good - nowhere near PS2 standard, but still good enough, with the game play being the overriding decision making factor - if the game plays well, then irrespective of the visuals, it's a worthy game to buy. I have around 20 games now, I don't play on many - just a couple of football games, but then I have played on my brother's Dreamcast more so in the last week or so, as now I am back at home I can make advantage of free accommodation and food!!! And of course the latest gadgets my siblings have bought... There are many styles of games on the console, which fall into many different genres - the main being: Racing - Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo 2, Ridge Racer 1,2,3,4, Colin McRae Rally 1/2, Need fo
r speed - and so on, there are many superb racing games on the PlayStation, my most played is the GT2 game, classic. Sports - undoubtedly football is the most popular type of sports game on the PlayStation. The best football game is International Superstar Soccer Pro Evolution 2 - what a name, although the Fifa games are pretty good too. There are many NBA games, ice hockey; skateboarding - Tony Hawk's 2 being the best, and of course there is the mighty Track and Field game!! Fighting games - I am not a huge fan of fighting games, but there are many to choose from on the console - from Tekken 1, 2 and 3, to Soul Blade, Street Fighter and more - the PS has some good fighting games. Ready 2 Rumble, Knockout Kings... Resident Evil Style - loads of people found the best original PlayStation title was Resident Evil - a stunning game that now has 3 sequels standing by it - Code Veronica is not available for the PS, but you can get RE1, 2, 3 and Survivor... Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark 4 are very similar types of games - very good in my opinion...I love scary games! RPGs - role-playing games, best ones include Grandia, Final Fantasy - 6, 7, 8 and 9. Some have very intense story lines, but this isn't my favourite genre of game. Some other top titles include Driver 2, WWF Smackdown 2, Tim Crisis, Brian Lara Cricket and more! The PlayStation is a top games machine, is around £80 new, but can be bought for £40 second hand, and I would recommend to all. Thanks for reading.
Chelsea have been said to be the English team, which isn't English. They have got a lot of foreign players in their squad, although they have got a few decent English players, including the likes of Jody Morris and their new signing from West Ham, Frank Lampard. I feel that Chelsea have made a quite a few good signings this summer and I think they will finish in the top 5 in the premiership this season. They will have to do very well to get into the top 3 and into the Champions League, but if their main players stay fit, then they might have a chance. As I have already said, Chelsea have got quite a few foreign players in their squad and here are the ones that I think are the best and why I think they are really good. Players like Hasselbaink, Zola, Petit and Desailly. All of these players have got a lot of talent and these are the layers who I think will do very well for the club this season. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is a world-class striker and I think that he will score a lot of goals for Chelsea this season, like he did last season. I think he ended up as the leading goal scorer in the premiership and if he can score as many goals this season, as well as other plays helping him out by scoring goals themselves, then Chelsea could do quite well this season in the premiership and the cup competitions. Gianfranco Zola is about 34 years old but he is still a very skilful player and a master at scoring great goals. He is a small player but he when he uses his speed and skill, he is a hard player to tackle and so quite often, it results in Chelsea scoring goals. Emmanuel Petit is a new summer signing form Barcelona for a fee of about 7.5 million pounds. He is a great defensive midfielder and a very good passer of the ball. He can also score some useful goals, which Chelsea will be hoping he does this season. Marcel Desailly is a great defender and I think that he is a player that Chelsea will be hoping stays fit all
season. He is very strong and a good tackler and so if he is fit for most of the season, Chelsea will hopefully not concede so many goals Chelsea's English stars also deserve a mention as there are not many of them. I reckon that their best English players are Frank Lampard, Jody Morris, Le Saux and John Terry. Frank Lampard is another summer signing form West Ham United and he was brought for a fee of 11 million pounds. I honestly do not think he is worth that much money but Chelsea are the ones have paid that much money for him and so hopefully, he will prove that he is worth all that money. He is a good attacking midfielder but he should be aiming to core at least 10-15 goals a season at Chelsea. If he doesn't, Chelsea would need to do something about it. Jody Morris is a young English International and I think he is a very good player. He is very talented and can play in any midfield position. I think that he will not be a first team regular next season for Chelsea, but I think that he could be within a few seasons. John Terry is a very good defender and another young English International. He played for Chelsea in quite a few games last season and he did very well for them. I do not think that he will be a first team regular either, but he is another player who will keep improving and become a great defender. Overall, Chelsea may have got quite a few foreigners in their squad, but they are still an English club and if they are in Europe, England should be supporting them all the way. I think that this season will also see them have a few good cup runs. Chelsea have got a good enough squad to win the premiership, but I don’t think Chelsea will win it because they never seem to be able to perform at their best against the lower class sides. Below is my opinion of their best 11: Goalkeeper – Ed De Goey Ed De Goey is definitely Chelsea’s best keeper, although he h
as made quite a few mistakes in games, which have lead to goals being conceded. HE is also in his 30’s and so he has only got a few years left. Right Back – Mario Melchiot Melchiot is a decent defender and a good tackler. He is also quite fast and likes to get forward when ever he plays. I don’t rate him as a great player though. Centre Back – Marcel Desailly Marcel Desailly is one of the best defenders in the premiership. He is a good leader and a great tackler. He is also a decent passer of the ball. Centre Back – John Terry John Terry is the England U21 captain and he has shown in England matches why. He is a young decent defender who will go one to become a regular in the senior team, later in his career. Left Back – Graeme Le Saux One of the best English left backs around at the moment. I would say that only Ashley Cole is better. He likes to get forward and is a good crosser of the ball, as well as being a good tackler. Right Midfielder – Jesper Gronkjaer Has scored quite a few goals for Chelsea since joining them and he has shown he has pace and skill. He is a good player who will score quite a few goals this season. Centre Midfielder – Frank Lampard Lampard joined Chelsea in the summer from West Ham for a fee of around 11 million pounds. I honestly don’t know why Chelsea paid that much for him because he isn’t worth it. But he is still a young decent player. Centre Midfielder – Emmanuel Petit Petit used to play for London rivals Arsenal, before he was sold to Barcelona. Chelsea signed him in the summer and I think he will turn out to be one of the best signings made by a team this summer. He doesn’t score many goals but he is still a great player. Left Midfielder – Boudewijn Zenden A quality midfielder who has already scored 1 goal for Chel
sea this season and I think he will score quite a few more. He likes to get forward and he a decent all round player. Striker – Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink Hasselbaink is one of the best strikers in the premiership. He scored about 25 goals last season and proved that he is a great finisher. I think he will score at least 20 goals again this season. Striker – Gianfranco Zola Zola may be in his 30’s and not playing as well as he used to for Chelsea, but I still think that he makes a good partnership with Hasselbaink. He has also scored quite a lot of quality goals in his career. Thanks for reading!
Liverpool, Liverpool, Liverpool. Have shown that they are a team that can now challenge Man United and Arsenal after an amazing year last season. In my opinion, Liverpool have got one of the best squads in the world, at the moment. They have got many good players and when I say many, I mean that they have got at least 2 teams worth of decent players. They could field one team one week and another team the following week, and perform at a very high level both times. I feel that Liverpool's best players are many all English, but there area few foreign players who can help turn games around when needed. Players like Owen, Heskey, Barmby, McCallister, Hypia and Gerrard are the main players that Liverpool have got, although they have got many other decent players too. I have always admired Michael Owen as I think he is a great striker and I think he will be one of the leading goal scorers in the premiership this season, and probably Liverpool's leading goal scorer in all competitions, as long as he stays fit. I also think that Hypia is a player that can help Liverpool out a lot when they are in trouble. He is a great defender and he can also score goals from a defensive position. Last season, they had one of the best seasons that I have ever seen. They finished 3rd in the premiership and they won 3 cup competition, including the F.A Cup, the Worthington Cup and the UEFA Cup. This was great to see as Liverpool showed that they can become one of the best teams in the world and it also showed that there is a team in the premiership who should be able to challenge Man United, throughout the year. Other than Arsenal, who haven't really done that well, there has not been a good team in the premiership who can keep up with Man United throughout the season, but I finally think Liverpool are the team to do it. I think that this season will see either Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal or Leeds win the premiership and it will be very
close between them. Chelsea will be the other team who will put in a hard fight to try and win the league, but I honestly can't see them winning the league this year. Liverpool have got an excellent squad of players and I think that they are now a team that can compete with Man United for the premiership title. Below is my opinion of their best 11: Goalkeeper – Sander Westerveld Although Liverpool have signed 2 new goalkeepers, I still think that Westerveld is their best keeper. He is a good shot stopper and a valuable team member, and I honestly do not see why Liverpool have spent about 13 million pounds on 2 goalkeepers that are not really needed. Right Back – Markus Babbel Markus Babbel is one of the best right backs currently in the premiership. He scored quite a few times in his first season at Liverpool, last season, and was a valuable member of the squad in their treble cup-winning season. He is about 30 years old, but he is still a great player. Centre Back – Sami Hypia Sami Hypia is one of the best centre backs in the premiership, without a doubt. He is a great defender and a player that many teams would want in theirs. He was voted one of the best defenders last season and I just admire his talent. He has also scored quite a few times for Liverpool. Centre Back – Stephane Henchoz Stephane Henchoz is not as good as Hypia, but he is still a good player and he seems to be a really good partner for Hypia. He is a good tackler, although I do like his handling abilities with the ball. Left Back – Jamie Carragher Jamie Carragher is a decent player and is another Liverpool player who is always picked to play for England, when available. He can play in defence and midfield and I think he is a really good passer and tackler. Right Midfielder – Gary McAllister Gary McAllister is about 36 now, but last season he
was inspirational in helping Liverpool to win 3 cups. He scored quite a lot of goals and he showed that he is still a great player at the age of 36. He is a great passer of the ball and his awareness of other players is pretty impressive. Centre Midfielder – Steven Gerrard Steven Gerrard is an awesome player and his goal he scored against German on Saturday was brilliant. He is a great tackler; a great passer and he can also score goals. Basically, he is a player nearly every team in the world would have and he is capable of becoming one of the best midfielders in the world. He is still a young player too so he has quite a lot of years to play at the top level. Centre Midfielder – Dietmar Hamann Dieter Hamann is a really good player. He is a good passer and tackler and can also hit shots from long range. His accuracy in his long shots is also pretty impressive. I know for sure that he will be wanting to forget about Germany’s game with England on Saturday, as he didn’t play too well and Germany were stuffed. Left Midfielder – Nicky Barmby Nicky Barmby doesn’t seem to be playing much football lately, but I still think he is a really god player and definitely one of Liverpool’s best midfielders. He can score goals and he is a good passer. He is also quite fast and a useful member of the squad. Striker – Michael Owen Michael Owen is currently in the best form of his life. He is scoring goals and playing like he has never before. He has already scored about 10 goals this season, including the 3 goals he scored against Germany on Saturday. This was his first England hat trick and one that he should feel very proud of. He is a fantastic young player and I think he will go on to become one of the best footballers ever in the game. Striker – Emile Heskey Emile Heskey signed for Liverpool, from Leicester City, about 2 years ago, and
he seems to keep on getting better and better. At Leicester, he was a decent striker but he didn’t seem to score many goals for them. Since joining Liverpool, he has scored quite a lot of goals and he has become a much better player. He is a valuable member of the squad and is also a regular for England, which he deserves to be as he has shown what he is capable of over the past couple of years. Thanks for reading!
Man United are currently the best team in England and one of the best teams in the world at the moment. They have got many great players in the squad and they all seem to be able to work together all the time, as they are a difficult team to beat. Some people may say that Liverpool are an English team who could challenge Man United now, and I agree because they have also got a great squad, but I do not believe that Arsenal will be able to finish higher than Man United in the league this season as they are not as good as them. Man United have got off to a good start this season and it has seen them get into the next phase of the Champions League, as well as get into 4th place in the premiership, although they will want to be doing better there. They have played 9 games in the premiership, winning 5, drawing 2 and losing 2. They have already scored 26 goals this season, but they have conceded 16, which is the 5th worst in the premiership this season. Basically, in the Man United games, there have been more than 4 goals a game. This shows that they seem to be very entertaining this season, especially if there are that many goals in the games. As I have said, United have got many great players in the side, including the likes of Beckham, Giggs, Keane, Scholes, Barthez and their 2 new summer signings, who are both world class players, van Nistelrooy and Juan Veron. (There are also many other great players at the club) David Beckham is one of the best free kick takers in the world and probably the best right-sided midfielder in the world. He is a great asset to the game and Man United can always count on Beckham to give his best every game. Ryan Giggs is a great left sided midfielder, although I do not think he is as good a player as Beckham is on the right. Giggs is a very fast player and he is also very skilful. He scored one of the best ever F.A Cup goals a couple of season ago when he dribbled the ball at least half the length of
the pitch, taking on many Arsenal players as he went, and then blasting the ball past David Seaman. Roy Keane became Man United's first ever player to have a contract worth at least 50,000 pound a week, 2 years ago. He is a great defensive midfield player and many Man United fans admire him. He should form a great partnership with United's new signing, Veron. Paul Scholes is not the tallest of players but he has been known to score quite a few gaols with his head. He can also score some spectacular goals from outside the box. He has got a great right foot on him and he is another great player. The problem is that now United have signed Veron, I am unsure as to whether Scholes will have to make way or not. He should be a first team regular but I honestly do not know what Man United will do. Fabien Barthez is one of the best goalkeepers in the world at the moment, probably the best actually. He is a great shot stopper and can also entertain the fans as he sometimes attempts to take the ball round the opposition and I do not know of a time when he has failed in his attempt. The French goalkeeper signed for Man United last season and Man United have finally found a keeper to replace Schemeical, who now plays for Aston Villa. Jaap Stam left Man United earlier this season, but I think that United would have wished he was still at the club, instead of Blanc. Blanc is a good player, but he isn't as good as Stam and it has resulted in Man United leaking quite a few goals this season. Man United's two summer signings, Veron and Nistelrooy are world-class players and I think they will help Man United be quite successful this season. Veron is one of the best midfielders in the world and he is a player who will help United to score even more goals from midfield, and help the strikers score more goals, as he is an attacking sort of player. I think he will form a great partnership with Roy Keane and maybe P
aul Scholes, which is what the fans will want to see. Veron has played brilliantly so far this season and he has also scored a few brilliant goals. He has shown that if Beckham is around, then he is the player who can take free kicks for Man United. His accuracy and power in the free kicks is brilliant, although I think Beckham is better than him. He has already put in a few man-of-the-match performances for the club and I think he can help the club have a brilliant final season with Ferguson in charge. Van Nistelrooy is a player that United were going to sign last season but he failed a medical and was injured for quite a few months. He is a great goal scorer, which I think United needed, as they have not really had a player who can finish the leading goal scorer in the premiership, for quite a few season now. He is a player who I feel the crowd will admire. So far this season, Nistelrooy has scored about 10 goals in all competitions and he has shown the fans that he is a player who can score a lot of goals for the club. He is an amazing player and many people have said that he is currently the best player in Europe at the moment, although other people have said that Thierry Henry is the best player in Europe at the moment. My opinion is that both of these players are very good and they are better at certain aspects of being a striker, than each other. I think the premiership title will go to either Man United or Liverpool and it will be very close between the two teams. Thanks for reading!
