The Asus P8Z77 V-LX is a motherboard for the LGA1155 socket for Intel Core I processors. This motherboard accepts all Isecond- and third generation Intel processors and is based on the Intel Z77 chipset, which allows overclocking of the Intel K-cpus and is very stable. The motherboard is very stable and looks very good. With it´s darkbrown pcb and it´s blue and black connectors, the motherboard looks well made and more complex than other motherboards from that time and from this time. In general the Z77 series of Asus motherboards was a good series of motherboards with high quality capacitors, allowing high overclock and being quiet.
There are two versions of the Asus P8Z77 V-LX. They both look almost identical, however one of the two motherboards has 5 fan connectors, while the other one has only three fan connectors. I can recommend both motherboards, but the motherboard with only three fan connectors is better, because it allows higher BCLK overclocking. The motherboard with three fan connectors allows a BCLK overclock of up to 107 MHz and more. The motherboard with 5 fan connecotrs allows a BCLK overclock of only 105 MHz without crashes. Besides that both motherboards look identical and have a dark brown pcb and several PCI and PCI-Express slots for graphics cards, and two PCI-Express slots for other components. If you want that motherboard, you will have to use components for the PCI slot or up-to-date PCI-Express components. The motherboard has many USB3 connectors and 6 SATA3 and 4 SATA2 connecotrs. Several connectors allow you to connect USB frontpanels to the motherboard or the Onboard sound. The Onboard sound however is not really of high quality, since it is not sounding very good in my opinion. The onboard sound doesn´t have a lot of details and the frequency response isn´t as clear as it is on a high quality soundcard.
Bios and overclocking
The bios of the P8Z77 V LX is a fast responding UEFI bios with pleasant colors and lots of functions. The bios has many bootoptions and many overclocking options. All options are reasily accessible and the overclocking options allow precise yet easy overclocking. All frequencies and voltages can be adjusted easily in order to find out the best overclock. The motherboard can overclock very well and is rbooting quickly even without overclock, but it won´t increase the speed of your cpu. The motherboard can be used with fast SSDs since it has several SATA3 connectors and boots very quickly into windows. With a core I5 3570k this motherboard is very fast even today.
The Asus P8Z77 V-LX is a high quality motherboard with a great design and many important functions and connectors. The soundquality of this mtoehrboard however is not very good so I can´t recommend the onboard sound. Besides that the motherboard has all functions and connectors the normal user needs. There are no special gaming features and no wireless connectors, but that is because this motherboard is not a high end motherboard.
This review is about the Sony NW E407 Walkman. This is an mp3 player of the sony walkman series, which is not the newest, but I still think it needs to be reviewed by me. The mp3 player is offereing a very nice design and very good soundquality, which is better than later sony players. So let's get into the details of the mp3 player.
The Sony nw E407 looks similar to a lighter and has a great built quality. It is a very stable player, consisting of glass at front side and of metall at the backside, so it is very stable and perfectly suitable for doing sports with it. The compact measurements of about 5 centimeters in lengh, 2 cm in height and 1 cm in deph support the use in the gym or at outside activity aswell. The player is available in many different colours and has an invisible display. The display is only visible, when you control the players, you just see the font of the display, nothing more.
The player is available at different memory sizes with 1 gb, 512 mb and 256 mb. It was released sometime at 2005 so the memory sizes are just fine for that time, and I do not need more space then 1 GB. Later models have more space on them.
The sony NW E407 comes with a driver cd, so you can install the driver and sonicstage, which is needed to transfer tracks on it, some pair of very good earphones and a small soft bag to carry the player and a charging cable.
Charge and transer:
When the player is plugged in to the computer it will appear in the windows explorer and start charging, the battery is very good and it will charge only 1 hour and provide a playback time of 50 hours, which is quite amazing. For transfering trafcks the installation of sonicstage is required. The owner of the player either installs the version on the cd or downloads the latest sonicstage version online. Sonicstage works fast and is stable. You add tracks to sonicstage, so shortcuts of them are saved into sonicstage and are ready to transfer them on your device.
The sound quality of the player is very good. You can hear your tracks with a high resolution and a lot of details. So this player is suited for expensive earphones and will deliver a great sound also on speakers. The player is suited for all kinds of music, due to the details, you can hear from it. The sound is adjustable and you can set bass and treble, unfortunately there is no eq to the player, but the bass and treble adjustments are enough to tune the sound. Even at highest volume the sound is clear with no distortion and the player does not take any bass away with max Bass and highest volume. Later sony models take away bass when you turn the volume above 20 )30 max) which is a shame, when this model is not doing that.
The earphones come with an extension cable and have a pretty short main cable. That is a shame cause all additional cables alter the sound more or less. They sound good with some soft earpads and can compare with the Sennheiser MX 660. They have a nice Bass and present a lot of details in the songs. Well done Sony.
The sony NW E 407 is great, it looks great and offers very good sound even for expensive earphones, that is very good since music enthusiasts want to enjoy their music when they are away from home aswell. The sound is not mind blowing, but at today's marked, maybe the Sansa Fuze is a bit better, the new sonys are not really better in my opinion. The amazing battery is great aswell.
These players can be bought in ebay still.
This review is concermed with the Logitech Z 2300 2.1 System, which contains a subwoofer and two sattelite speakers. It is quite a powerful system and has 200 Watts RMS alltogether. The subwoofer has 120 Watts RMS and the Sattelites have 40 watts RMS each. So technically it seems quite loud and in fact it is quite loud, but the quality is not as good as expected and in my opinion this system is overrated.
this system comes with two sattelites and a pretty big subwoofer. The subwoofer has a 20 cm big driver and a big basshole at the side for the Bassreflex output. The two sattelites only have one driver, which is just 5 cm wide. That alone tells that the midds wont be very good, since the speakers do not even have a seperated tweater and a very small midd frequenzy driver, that has to produce all the sound except the bass. The system has a cable remote control that contains of a volume and a bass slider, which are round and look very nice. When the system is turned on a blue led lights up, which is quiet strong and might be too strong for some people, so they must put something above the led. Something good about this system is, that the speakers are connected with cinch cables, so you can connect other, better sattelites
the system is set up easily, the including cinch cables are connected to the subwoofer and you plug in the cable to an audio source and are ready to start.
The built quality of this system is pretty good. The subwoofer especially has very good build quality and is very heavy. It has a wooden body and a meta front grill to protect the bassdriver. The sattelites do not have such a great build quality and are made of plastic. The remote control and cables are fine and look very well.
This system will deliver nice sound for people who want a typical bass sattelite system sound. Which is known for home cinema systems. The subwoofer is heavy and produces a lot of bass and teh sattelites produce a lot of heights and high midd frequencies so people will hear voices crying in the movies or Rihanna or Snoobdog singing or rapping with the vocoders applied over them. That will provide a great sound for those who just want to play mostly low quality music and hear it loud and with booming bass. When you turn the system loud, the subwoofer is able to produce a lot of force and it can make your floor vibrate, which will be appreciated by some girls dancing infront of the boys owning the system. haha. The bass quality is not bad and when you stabilise the subwoofer with spikes or connect it to a heavy wooden or stone plate and stop the vibrations of the subwoofer, the subwoofer will deliver strong and deep bass, which I do like and can rate the subwoofer high, except that the driver lost it's adhsesive after one year and I had to add new adhsesive so the driver is not loose anymore. But the sattelites are a joke for a system that expensive. The sattelites have an awful and very unbalance frequency response so they are very dissapointing. They do not have a lot of midds and without an equalizer or at loud volume they hurt my ears, since at low volume the frequency response is so strange, that it sounds just very wrong and all songs you listened to though quality speakers or headphones will sound very bad. With an equalizer and lot's of work on it, you will be able to get an acceptable sound out of them, but you would have to play with the eq a lot and it wont sound linear at all.
And the explanation to the bad quality is that the sattelites only have a very small driver, consist of plastic only and are very light and small. A driver with a diametre of 5 centimeters is not able to produce a good sound over all frequencies. So that is why the sattelites are really a joke.
What people can do is, buy the system, maybe get it used from ebay and look for some good sattelites with a bigger driver and maybe wooden, they might take away the bass from the bass speaker and will deliver a linear frequency response, so people would really be able to enjoy music like classic, complex electronical music or metal, which also sounded bad on those sattelites.
What I need to add here is that the subwoofer has a radiator at the back and it gets warm after a long play at high volume. But the radiator can be chilled easily, when you put an 120 mm fan behind it. with that the radiator wont get warm at all and you will be able to have a long party with this system, without worrying about the amplifier.
The Logitech Z 2300 consists of a good subwoofer, when connected to a heavy plate the subwoofer will produce a very strong and deep bass and this even at high volumes. The system is loud enough for parties in smaller rooms and will make the neighbours angry when played loud a long time. but the sattelites are not very good and should be replaced by soem good sattelites with more deph, with that people could get even more bass out of the system. if someone is able to modify some heco victa 200 or similar, so that they can be connected to the Cinch outputs the system would sound quiet nice. But with these sattelites, the system is not able to play complex music at good quality.
This review is concermed with the Sony MDR E931 earphones, which are released in the classical design, that does not go all the way into the ear. They are recommended for all the users, who want to use earbuds that do not go all the way into the ear and stop all outside noise and make you hear your own breathe or steps when walking. This is very annoying for some users and I do not understand why there are almost no classical earbuds out there.
These sony earphones come in the typical winding case from sony. They look very well and have a different shape to the cheap sony models like MDR E 828 LP or 829 v. They look like the walkman earphones from sony mp3 players such as the NW- E407 or NW E-507. They also include foam pads and they should be used for better soundquality and bass. I explained it in detail in my other earphone reviews.
Another interesting thing here is the cable. It has some cuttom cover (if this is the right word) which looks very nice and smells very well. It smells typical for new technical items and keeps it's smell very long. Unfortunately the coer get's damaged after time and after about 3 months the cover will be damaged at several places which is a shame. Fortunately the cable has a rubber isolation aswell.
The wearing confort of these earbuds is very good, aktually one of the best wearing conforts, I experienced with earphones. They have a very good shape and are not the smallest earbuds, so they fit tightly in the ears and stay there until you take the out. The great wearing confort also allows for better soundquality and bass response, since earphones, being loose in your ears wont sound the same as ones that stay tight.
The soundquality of these earphones is decent. They do not sound as transparent as the Sennheiser MX 660 but still over a lto of details in your songs, which is quiet surprising for sony. I have checked their big headphones like the MDR V700 and I have been very dissapointed with the sound of it. These earphones provide good clarity, a nice Bass and great midds, which is great considering a lot of earphones do not provide good midds. These do and are recommended for those who want earphones that play the midds louder than most earbuds. The bass is deep and detailed, it sounds like coming from the song instead of a cheap boom so there is nothing really to critisize about the sound here. They sound very alive, however not as seperated as the MX660 or 760 from Sennheiser.
These earbuds are much better then Sony MDr E828 LP or E829 V and provide good soundquality and loudness. Unlike mentioned by the other reviewer I could not notice them getting worse. They scratch from time to time, but when that happens, you turn the volume of your player up high so the drivers expand again and the scratching dissapears. The sennheisers have the same issue from time to time. What I do not like about these earphones is that the nice cover get's away after time.
This review is concermed with the Revoltec Airguard 120 mm case fan. It is one of my favourite fans, cause of the incredible design, that gives me shivers, I just love it. But let's get more into detail here.
The revoltec airguard is a fan with a diameter of 12 centimetres or 120 mm. It is black with an incredible looking revoltec logo in blue at the motor of the fan. The black plastic of the fan is very well made and is semi shiny. Looking closely to it you can notice the plastic is not smooth but has small textures on it and it looks very well and not cheap at all. The fan, looking closely or from an distant position, with the black frame and wings and the blue logo just looks mind blowing in my opinion and is a good reason to owning the fan. The cable has a very well looking protection, so you do not see the cable but some cover which is protecting it. So summarised the design of the fan is great.
Noise and airflow:
The revoltec airguard is not the quietest fan and spins with a speed at about 1200 rpm. The airflow is therefore very good and if you use several of these you will be able to cool your case pretty well. At 12 v the fan is not absolutely silent, but still relatively quiet and you can notice the airflow and a quiet motor noise, which I like a lot, too. The motornoise calms me down, cause it is a consistent and quiet gliding sound which is very pleasant to hear. If you have loud components on your computer you won't be able to hear it, but if your over components are silent, this is what you will hear. From far away it hardly can be noticed though. At 7 v the fan is absolutely quiet and wont produce any noise. The airflow will not be as good, but still enough to chill your harddiscs some degrees or use it to take away the air at the backside of your case.
The fan is very good when it comes to airflow, but for great cooling of a gpu or cpu I would recommend a noiseblocker with 1400 rpm or a scythe slipstream, since these have quieter engines and spin faster, while producing the noise of the airguard or a bit less. This fan is still very good and though and people who want a quiet fan, but not ultrasilent will be happy with it.
I can recommend the Revoltec Airguard, since it has a unique design and is very well made. The noise leven is low and it produces a nice calming sound which might even be better then no sound at all. 5 Stars here
You may look at the Revoltec airguard Pro series, a bit quieter.
this review is concermed with the AKG K315 earbud earphones. these earphones have the classical earphone design and therefore don't go all the way into the ear. Some people find the new in ears to be awful, cause they isolate completely from outisde and you may hear your own breathe and your own steps when walking and music is paused or you set low volume on your audio player. For all users who do not want to use this kind of earphones the reviewed earphones here might be an option.
General stuff about these earbuds:
After having had good experiences with the AKG K314 earbuds, I exptected more from these, but I did not get what I exptected. These earphones are nice, but have all the defficiensies the AKg K314 have and even the sound is just as the sound of the K314 and even a bit worse. Even long burn in did not help improve the sound of these earbuds.
The earbuds do not cost a lot and come with two foam pads and a plastic leather bag with a zip. This is a nice extra, cause you can carry your earphones and audio player in it unless it is very big. The earphones contain a volume control aswell, which you set by sliding the slider up and down.
These earphones look similar to the older AKG K314, they have hard edges and a strange shape so the wearing quality is not very good unfortunately. It has not improved when comparing to the old AKG K314 so it is really a shame. But AKg is a strange company in general in my opinion, their products are generally good but do have some strange things about them. I think that is all I can say about the design of the earbuds, so let's look at the sound quality:
The sound quality of the AKG K314 is nice. The listener will be able to hear a lot of details in his music, instruments will be seperated and the user will be able to hear small details in his songs. They have the same clarity then the old AKG K314. The frequency responce is very strange on this model aswell. The earphones play a bit on the brighter side, but not too much. They are just fine with good foam pads. What I do not like at all though is the bass. The bass is worse then on the old AKG K314 and sounds very strange. There is no low end bass at all and the bass arround 100 hz sounds very strange and not like it would sound in the song at all. It sounds a bit like the bass is set to "square", altough it is not on most songs and I do not like it. The bass is better then on cheap sony, since it is more detailed, but it is still very strange and worse then on the old model. So this is were these earbuds dissapoint me a lot. They are nice in clarity though.
I have spoken about the wearing confort before and will mention it again. The wearing quality has not improved at all compared to the K314 earphones. I tmight be even worse and this is another dissapointment, when a new model is released the user will expect better sound quality and wearing confort of it.
When you want very cheap earphones you might consider them, they are nice for clarity and instrumentals, but they wont deliver a great deep bass and loudness. For those who can listen to music at normal volume they might be suitable. But they sound a bit worse then the old K314 and worse then the MX 660 and 760 from Sennheiser. They have more clarity then the MX 560 though. Still dissapointing considering they are the update to the K314.
this review is consermed with the AKG K 314 earbuds. these earphones have the classical earphoe design, so they don't go all the way though your ear. They therefore wont block all outside noise and you will be able to hear when a friend calls you. With these earphones you will not hear your own breathe or steps aswell, which is annoying for a lot of users and they wont destroy your ears as real in ear channel phones do in higher volume. So they are to consider for all those people who do not want earphones with the new design.
The AKG K314 is an old modell and is difficult to get nowadays, hwoever it is not impossible and I think some shops offer it new, still. The good thing is that the earphones can be bought for very cheap, I think about 10 pounds can do for them, which is a nice price, when looking at the offered soundquality.
These earphones are available in several colours and IMO all of them look very nice. They come with a carrying case, which reminds me off the Sony MDR E8 series. the cheap models also come with a carrying case called winding case. They also include a volume control as most earphones and come with some soft foam pads, which should be used to get the best soundquality and bass response.
Let's look at the soundquality of these earbuds:
These earbuds sound pretty strange to me, but have a pretty good sound. They are more on the bright side and have more heights then Sennheiser models. They are not too bright though. The details of these earphones are very well. You will hear a lot of different instruments and sounds in your songs and the tracks will sound alive. The details offered by these earphones can compare with the Sennheiser MX 660 and 760 and are better, then the MX 560 for example.
The frequency response is pretty strange though. The earphones offer little bass and play the higher end bass at arround 100 frequency a bit too loud, while not having a lot of low end bass. therefore they sound a bit cheap in the bass area. But all AKG i have tried now have sounded a bit simialr and those are not an exclusion. They are pretty good in the details area and much better then the cheap sonys. If you want good earphones for a few quid, try them and compare with the sennheiser Mx 660, they are similar in some ways, however I like the MX 660 a bit more.
The wearing quality of these earphones is not as good as of some Sony or Sennheiser models. They have a strange shape and the earphones are not staying in the ear very well. It is not too bad though and with some nice earfomas they wont fall out of your ears. So i would give the wearing quality a rating of 3,5 of 5 stars.
The AKG K 314 earphones are very good for the price offered. They can compare with the Sennheiser Mx 660 / 760, altouhg the frequency response is not as linear here. The volume control works fine and there are no real negative aspects about them either. It is more about taste.
This review is concermed with the Sennheiser MX 760 earbuds. Some earbuds with the classic earbud design, these earphones are suited for those, who do not want to put the earphone all the way into the ear channel and want to hear when a friend calls them or some other loud noise. These earphones therefore do not isolate as much as in ear channel phones and you will not hear your own breath or your own steps while walking, which is very annoying for some people, sometimes when there is a quieter passage in your tracks or when you turn your player off but do not put off the phones and hear your own steps it might be annoying for some people, however some do prefer in ear phones, which according to them have better soundquality. These earbuds have decent soundquality and will satisfy the users who do not like in ears.
Short describtion about the phones:
These earphones look very similar to the Sennheiser MX 660 earphones, when looking at the ear unit, they are available in several colours and have a shiny line in the middle of the phones, exactly as the MX 660, which I reviewed aswell. The earphones are seperated by two cables, the earphones themself include a short cable of about 50 cm or so and the package also includes an extension cable. Several users on various reveiw pages complained about that, cause they want one long cable. I don't like that aswell since any extension will alter the sound to some extent so it is very dissapointing that Sennheiser does not offer the phones with a single long cable. The Sennheiser MX 660 and 580 include a volume control which many people do not use and want a single long cable. Altough it does not enter the sound to such an extent as an extension calbe, a volume control does alter the sound a bit aswell. I tested the MX 760 earbuds with and without the cable and noticed small differencies in sound quality, so I can tell that without the extension calbe the earphones would have a bit better soundquality.
Let's look at the soundquality of these earphones now, since I was talking about that all the article.
The soundquality is reviewed while using some thick soft foam pads, which are neccesarry for proper use of the earbuds. An earbud should not be used without them since both, the wearing confort and the soundquality will be much worse without the soft foam pads. Especially the bass will be much weaker.
the soundquality of these phones after burn in is pretty good. They sound pretty clear and play many details. The sound is pretty similar to the MX 660 earbuds, however the 760 sound a bit cleaner and offer a small percent more details then the MX 660, but not really a lot so the gain on details is not really worth getting these. The bass response on these earphoes is also very nice. They produce a clean Bass, which is louder and harder then the Bass of the MX 660 earphones. In my opinion both earphones are pretty bassy and these earphones play bass passages very well. The middle frequencies could be a bit better, since the middle area is a bit quiet and the earphone does not sound "full" with that. So overall the soundquality is very good and a bit better then the Sennheiser MX 660, I guess that is mainly cause this model does not have volume control.
When using the Mx 760 without the extension cable I could notice they sound a bit more preciese and thighter, hwoever the difference was not big. I would use the earphones however if they had one single cable, now I am not using them and gave them my cousin, I might buy some for the computer, since they need a long extension cable anyway for that.
So to summarise, the cons with extension cable are, having to look after two cables, so they don't break after time, having to use the second cable in most cases since the short cable is just too short and a bit worse soundquality, compared to a single cable design.
The Sennheiser MX 760 earbuds are very good, they sound very well and offer a lot of details, they have very good bass and deliver a linear sound without sharp heights which I like. I do not like the extension cable and the too short main cable. Without the extension cable the earphones would sound a bit better (tested) and would be easier to handle, so that is why they wont recieve 5 stars by me.
This review is consermed with the Denon PMA 500 amplifier, a standart stereo amplifier.
General stuff about the amplifier:
This Denon amplifier has a very good built quality. It is very solid and has a metal body all the way. The front plate of the amplifier has an aluminium surface and the rest has a plastic cover, which is enforced with metal below the plastic. It has many imputs, so you can connect a lot of sources to the amplifier. It also has controls for Bass, treble and balance and a loudness button. With these controls the owner of the amp can control the outcoming sound in many levels and the controls work well. As far as I know the amplifier has 140 watts, which is not very loud, but with good speakers it will be loud enough for most home parties. The amp allows two pairs of speakers to be plugged.
It is not very difficult to connect speakers to that amp. The backplate has big connections with screw terminals which you can open and connect the cables of the speakers. The connection is very easy and fast to be done.
The soundquality of the amp is not bad, but I expected more. An amp should deliver the sound just as it is coming from the source if you do not turn the knobs of the sound controls. This amp is not doing that, the amp delivers too mcuh Bass at standart settings so the sound is not really neutral and the higher Bass frequencies just play too loud. I used the amp with some Magnat quantum 503 speakers and the sound was false at 80 - 200 hz, altough i did not increase these frequencies on the equalizer.
Otherwise the amp sounds a bit like metal to me and does not have a soft and smooth sound, as I want it to be. This amp is definatly not a good buy for users, who want to plug some passive monitor speakers to it and produce music, since even with headphones the sound was falsified and too much bass was added. It is not too bad though and for normal porpuses the amp will do just fine.
Otherwise the soundquality is ok, it is clear and details are played. It is also fairly loud, with a pair of good speakers who do not need a lot of imput the amp will play very loud and is able to turn your room into a party. You should cool it with an amp for example from the computer to make sure the amp will not turn off during a long party. Even a 120 mm fan at 9 v will cool the amp enough so it wont stop playing at very high volumes.
The remote control of the amp works great. You can turn the amp into standby mode if you want and turn up and down the volume. You see how the big volume knob is moving when you press the volume buttons, a motor is moving it. You can also choose a different source. You can not increase the bass and treble though. With the remote control you can control the Denon DCD 500ae aswell, but that is not a good buy, since it wont play mp3.
The Denon pma 500ae is a very well made product with great built quality. The soundquality is fine except it has too mcuh bass at standart settings and is therefore not suitable for mixing porpuses. It is loud enough and great for parties and normal listening. It is not an amp for enthusiasts
this review is about the Sennheiser MX 660 earbud earphones. These earphones are classical earphones that have the earbud design. This means that the earphones have classcial desing and are not put very deep into the ear but hang at the ear and cause less damage to the ear, at least that is what I think about them. They do not isolate that much from outside noise aswell, so they are more suitable for those riding a bike or just wanting to hear their friends, when they call them. Another benefit is that noise such as breathing or the noise of walking are not heart on those phones aswell.
General things about the earphones:
These earphones are delivered in a standart box with transparent plastic so you can see the earphones from outside. The box is coloured in light blue as far as I remeber and has detailed information about the earphones at the backside of the box. The information is specified in various languages.
When opening the Box the owner will find the earphones in the box, a plastic leather back for carrying the earphones, which is fairly big enough to carry small players inside them aswell. Another item in the box is a simple cable winder that may be used to wind the phones over it. I wont get into deteil and describe that item though. You will also find two soft foam earpads to install over the earphones. They should definatly be used to have best wearing confort and get the best sound and bass quality. Using earbuds without ear pads will make the bass much weaker, which is the reason why most people complain about earbuds not having bass at all, which simply is not true. Some enthusiast users will get optimal available foam pads from amazon or other pages, which are much thicker and softer, so the quality increases even more. The thicker the pads, the better the sound and bass quality. The sound review of this review is done using ear pads.
Looking at the earphones:
Looking at the earphones we can see the nice built quality of them, they look nice. the cover of the phones themselfes is shiny and "Sennheiser" is written on it. The cover will be in the choosen cover with a small silver line in the middle on it. The cord is nice aswell. It is not a cheap double cord like one can see with cheap sony earbuds but the extermal cable is only single. I like that. The phones include a volume control aswell, which is similar to the volume control of Sony earbuds. I wish there would be Sennheiser MX 660 without the volume control, the soundquality would be much better, since the volume control is an extra item that will decrease their quality to some extent.
Let's look at the soundquality: The soundquality of the phones is very good. It is impressive, how deep and clear the bass and sound is with good foam pads or even the stock foam pads. You will hear a lot of detail and clarity in your songs. Details are played differenciated and you can differenciate the individual instruments or synths used in the songs listened. That is great since the cheap Sony earbuds, like MDR E 829 v do not seperate the Details at all and you will hardly be able to differenciate the individual sounds in the heart tracks. The Sennheisers also sound very lifelike, so atmospheric music will sound atmospheric on them. Looking at the frequency responce i would say they deliver linear frequency responce, the midds are present at a fair level but could be preset a bit more. the heights are perfectly balaned and will not hear the ears, what i hate on some other phones. So at that point the Sennheisers score 5 points aswell. The bass responce of the Sennheisers is also very good. They deliver clear and deep Bass up to a high volume level. the bass is not very boomy, but absolutely detailed and like it was used at the production. It is not fake, like with cheap Sonys or Panasonic Earphones. At the beginning these earphones might have scratching sounds when loud bass appears in songs, which will last some weeks maybe and appear from time to time. To get rid of that the phones should be burn in at low volume and also burned in at higher volume so the drivers can expant better and move more freely then when they are used the first time.
The integrated volume control works well and reduces the sound at the same level of left and right, but I do not use it and I wished the same earphones were offered without this extra aswell.
My conclusion of this earphones is that they are very good earphones for the price they are offered for. They will play at the same level of many in ears up to 50 Euro and not hear the ears that much. I tried the CX 200 and they were not as good, they hurt the ear emidiatelly for me, so these are much better. Anyone who wants good quality phones but does not expect high end will have a lot of fun with these earphones and use them a long time. To protect the cord better I would use some peaces of adhsesive tape at the beginning of the cable so the cable will not move in the pcoket and will be less likely to break.
