My outlook on living a life without the internet, what are the pros and cons of having a life online

      **~Pursuing A Life Offline~**

After being stuck in the office all day yesterday glued to my computer, I asked myself a question.....Could I live without internet? Is there a true or false, right or wrong answer to this question? My own answer to this would probably be yes. I could definitely 'live' without it. I could survive on a day to day basis and get through life without the means of internet....but how great a life would that be?
So many people have mentioned that because we lived without the internet before, surely we could live without it again? However, because of the nature of our lifestyle today and how the world has changed socially in the past decade, I believe it wouldn't be possible for so many reasons....

I grew up in a world of great technology, I won't deny that. We had television, radio, mobile phones (just about). But we didn't have the internet. And we were happy. My days were full of toys, games and outdoor fun. Kids nowadays are embersed in a world of online gaming, social networking, emailing! What ever happened to old fashioned outdoor fun!! Chasing, rounders, hide and go seek! You can't get fun like that on the net. Although I have probably spoken too soon, more than likely there is an app available somewhere that offers the same fun to yougsters....
I was a teenager when the internet became fully fledged. We had dial up internet at home but rarely used it as it would take an age to load a screen. Everybody had the internet....but for convenience sake. You would sit and wait for a page to load for hours if it was important enough. Then it took off.....

College was a whirlwind of technology and everything was done through email, blackboard, researching...all online. It was important too me....How much harder would it have been, had I gone through college and my early days of work, without google to answer my every whim.
There is literally no end to its power!! We can do nearly anything we want to do online; book a holiday, catch up with friends...and their friends if you feel the need, do some shopping, watch t.v. If bored, you are only one click away from entertainment. We can browse from our computer, our mobile phone, even our television nowadays, straight from the couch...where will it end??

As great and powerful as it is though, I feel that technology sometimes gets in the way of true emotion and feeling. It has affected the majority of the world's social lives, with Facebook, twitter and the like. I do admit, it is an unbelievable invention, a convenience tool that can't be beaten and without it, we would undoubtedly be less productive in life.
So for me, pursuing a life offline would be quite difficult. I would have to actually meet up with my friends instead of 'chatting' on facebook, walk around the shops to find tonights outfit, read through brochures to decide on this years holiday and walk my real live dog instead of my generic sims pet!! Oh the horror!! Wherever will I find the time??

So here I am...on the fence...!! If..all together..we switched off the interent and started a life offline, without its existence, then yes, I could imagine a life without the internet. Then again, if I had to go alone in this pursuit, it would be an entirely different story........

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

It glides through your hair, leaving it soft, straight and perfect in literally minutes. Would highl

Unfortunately I was not blessed with poker straight, sleek, awesome hair! So from a young enough age (12/13), I have been experimenting with the latest hair straigteners and products. A great hair memory from my teens is of myself and friends actually ironing our hair on an ironing board before a concert! The methods we were reduced to...
I bought my first hair straightener at the age of 17 and at the time it was brilliant. It was a huge black squeaky contraption with massive heat barrels. It did the job though...until it broke down six months later and I was left with a nest on my head again. Oh the horror!!

        **GHD MARK IV STYLER**

This straightener first came on the market big time in Ireland and the UK in 2007 and started becoming hugely popular a year later. At the time it was around Euro200 so it was a complete luxury to have and anybody who had one was considered the luckiest person ever!!

        "Purchase"
I bought my one (the standard edition) on a total whim, the day before I jetted off to Spain on a girly holiday when I was 19! I had gotten holiday pay from work and felt like splurging on a new straightener! To be honest I considered it an investment as I was never happy with my hair and thought this would be the answer to all my problems! I paid Euro180 for it at the time (around £150), which was quite expensive. They weren't widely available so I bought mine in a top quality hair salon (peter marks). It is available at around Euro140-Euro160 nowadays which is quite expensive as the market is so competitive these days. You can buy a straightener for £20 in some places even.

        *~Design~*
As it was the only one available at the time, I purchased the standard black design. It is a black matte colour, with gold plates. The lead is black and has a swivel cord which makes it easy to move around. Since then they have introduced different colours including bright pink and red.

        **Features..**
The straightener is very thin and light, not quite as bulky as some out there. I find its great to take travelling as it fits neatly in your bag and takes up hardly any room. It has a great safety feature installed, where it automatically goes into sleep mode if left unused for 30 minutes ..I never understand how it knows if it isnt being used though. I was attempting to curl my hair one day and spent nearly an hour on it, it stayed on the entire time but if left sitting there it will beep a few times and switch itself off. Genius addition for feather brains like me who often go off and leave it switched on. NOT a good idea with young, probing hands around the house....!

It comes originally with a 2 year guarantee. I've had mine for over 5 years though and apart from the odd burnt neck or ear, I've had no real problems. It can be used in any country which is a great bonus

        *~Use~*
The straightener can heat up to 180 degrees, which is one of the hottest available and seeing as your hair can burn at over 210, it is quite a degree of heat!! It heats up very quick, to full heat in under a minute, and beeps when it is ready for use, which actually feels like straight away. Wastes no time!! As well as straightening your hair, it can create curls, waves and kicks. The straightener came with a information and usage dvd as well as a manual. It shows you how to create these waves and curls. However I unfortunately cant get the hang of these so just use mine for straighteneing and have a seperate curler. The hot plates are made of ceramic material so as not to create static in your hair and prevent frizz. This is great for myself particularly as i suffer from quite thick, crazy frizzy hair and this stabalises it ...a bit!!

        **_Overall_**

I absolutely love this straightener, it really is one of my greatest purchases, a girls best friend and lifes best accessory!! I love the fact that it is used greatly by hairdressers because it just shows how great the product is. It glides through your hair, leaving it soft, straight and perfect in literally minutes. Would highly recommend this as it is worth the money

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A great nifty little scanner for quite a reasonable price. Looks complicated but very easy to use

When I joined the company I now work form, back in September, I was somewhat of a techno-phobe, or maybe technologically challenged as some might say! Now I'm no martian, don't get me wrong, I can use my own laptop, printer, scanner, mobile etc...but after many attempts and mistakes! I'm the type of person that can be a complete whizz at anything ... given lots and lots of practice.

        **Flatbed Scanner**

So as I said, I first met this HP Scanjet 5590 when I began work in my new office. To be honest, I was originally quite daunted because I had just gotten used to the printer and this new task popped up....eek! It definitely struck me first off as being of high quality technology and completely modern. I had only ever come across scanner, printer combos before, which as one would think, are huge contraptions but actually quite simple to use.

The fact that it was a HP brand though, calmed my worries slightly. For those of you who don't know, hp is an american IT company, very well known for their software products. Walt Disney was actually even one of their earlier customers (handy trivia fact but completely pointless here).

        **Design**

The scanner, as per its name, is quite flat. Not as flat as it appears in the picturebut sits nicely on the desk and doesnt protrude much. The only non flat bit is on the lid where the feeder is located. I quite like the flatbed design as I was more used to bulky scanners that take up room underneath the desk (because they couldnt possibly fit neatly beside your pc). It is a light grey colour with darker grey areas for the buttons and base. It is quite basic looking when it comes to colour but then again, you don't see many neon pink scanners around (Hmm, maybe I should write to hp.....). As scanners go however it looks great and no complaints on the design front.

        **Set Up**

Now I didnt directly set up this scanenr myself, but being a naturally inquisitive person ;), I had to ask. I was assured it was easy enough to set up. And my source is quite like myself when it comes to technology so bear in mind this advice didnt come from a pro!! It comes in the packaging pretty much put together, with the flatbed scanner itself being already prepared. This would be a given I would think as it is a flatbed and can be easily packaged. It comes with a usb cable to attached to your pc. If your pc is already connected to a printer then, it automatically syncs to this and prints to this. It has a power cable, instruction book with directions for each of the buttons etc, a hp manual for thei products as a whole, and a cd rom to set up to either Windows, Mac or Microsoft. We have the windows options and it is a step by step installment procedure.

        **Features**

The scanner has an array of buttons on the front panel. Starting from the left hand side, you have the power button for switching on and off, which displays the power symbol seen on most products these days. Then come your five main scanning buttons and screen, followed by a zoom button, then your colour resolution button and finally another power button (slightly confusing...)

Your five main scanning buttons each have a different function and each display a picture on them to make it easier to tell which is which.

-The first button allows you to choose from all five (as I said confusing). It brings a list up on screen of each option available for you to choose from. This is mainly for first time users if your not sure of the buttons. I still use this one and I've been using the scanner for a few months, even consider myself a bit of a 'whizz' but there you go.

-The second button is used for scanning any high quality pictures or images. I have only used this button a handful of times as I rarely scan pictures but for home use it would be amazing as the quality of the image is amazing and it really highlights the picture.

-The third button allows you to scan a document direct to the pc and saves to the desktop for you. This is the most common one when you just need to upload a document for safe keeping.

        - The fourth button is the one I mainly use. It scans a document and attaches it directly to an email so you can send it off to someone else. Before scanning you are given a choice of type (pdf or otherwise), can change the base name for which it saves under, enter email address, subject and message. The one negative aspect of this option is that you must enter your email address and message to recipient in this box, it doesnt go directly into your emails. This is awkward sometimes as you have to cancel out of it, go into your emails, get the address and go back.....hassles!!

-The fifth button then just simply scans the document and prints directly, if previously hooked up to your printer.

        **Specs**

For those of you who are interested in these things, enjoy the specifications below: (pulled from hp website, I dont randomly know these details)

Resolution Optical: Up to 2400 dpi
        Bit depth 48-bi
        Grey scale levels 256

Scan speed ADF (A4): up to 8 ppm (with optional ADF); simplex mode, black and white, 200 dpi, 1-bit
10 x 15 cm colour photo into Microsoft Word: less than 24 sec; OCR a full page of text into Microsoft Word: less than 36 sec; e-mail photo: less than 18 sec
        Preview: Up t 10 sec

        **Tech Support**

We were supplied with a customer helpline number in which to ring if their are any major problems. So far (touch wood) we havent had any major problems. The only things I have noticed would be if you are scanning a large docuement, it might freeze after a while, bring up a scan of a blank document and then continue. Also after alot of use, the lid becomes slightly shaky and loose from being opened and closed too much!

        **Price**

As it was a company purchase, I didnt participate in the buying so do not know how much it cost to buy (neither did my source unfortunately). But I have taken the liberty to search this product online to let you guys know and they seem to be retailing at a reasonable price range of Euro340 - Euro370 (around£350)

        **Overall**

I would highly recommend this scanner for home use as well as office use. We use ours here every day without fail and have had it for 9 months. Other than the few glitches I mentioned earlier, it is going strong and is very high quality. It sits well on the desk so you can buy one for a corner cubicle and it would fit nicely. Overall I would rate is a 9/10

        Thanks for reading, xxx

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Practical, comfortable and very fun. All you could want and more in a pair of slippers.

Like most boys of his age, my three year old son loves Thomas the Tank Engine. So when I saw these in Mothercare for a steal of Euro5.99 (around £4) I had to get them for him. Every christmas I buy new nightwear for the kids, my husband and myself...the whole lot, pyjamas, slippers, dressing gowns. I knew he would love wearing these as they had a picture of Thomas himself on the front.

        **The Slippers**

The slippers were available for babies of 1 up to 3 so it was perfect. I got him the biggest size they had and knew they would fit as I measured them against his foot in the shop...easiest solution because believe me trying to get a three year old hyperactive little boy to try on shoes in a busy shop is another story. There were two selections on show, one red and navy and the other blue and navy. I would have preferred the blue version as it would be more in line with the image of thomas but they had no larger sizes in this option :(. Oliver didn't mind though, he was happy with any Thomas branded clothing.

        **The Style**

As mentioned before, we went with the red and navy coloured slippers. They are mainly red, with a navy back and strap and a picture of thomas himself in blue on the front tip. They have a navy velcro strap to fasten and loosen, with thomas emblazoned across. The slipper felt soft and warm and inside had a warm fluffy material which would be cosy and soft to walk in. They looked great and very colourful which small boys love.

        **Wear & Tear**

Oliver's feet slipped right in when we tried them on at home. They were a bit loose, but the velcro strap held them on and he walks and runs away fine in them. I only let him wear them now with socks though just in case he falls over and has an accident. They have a fine sturdy grip on the ends of them and are unlike many slippers that slide across wooden floors and sometimes stick. They are quite durable as he wears them nearly every evening...running, jumping and cascading off furniture as only three year olds can perfect...and they are still going strong.

        **My Opinion**

I think they are a great pair of slippers. They have the novelty factor, oliver thinks its amazing that thomas' face is on his feet, he even thinks he is a train himself sometimes choo chooing along the floor slippers over his hands!! I love the velcro strap as he can take them on and off at ease by himself. At that price they were a steal as he gets more fun nearly out of these than a twenty pound imitation train. Practical, comfortable and very fun. All you could want and more in a pair of slippers.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Great quality robe that your child will adore to make her feel just like her fave disney character

My five year old loves anything disney, be it snow white, bambi, mickey mouse. She demands to watch at least one disney cartoon a day....yes demands!! And we all know what happens if a five year olds demands are not met....utter chaos!

She actually owns a lot of disney clothing and when I had a proper look earlier I shocked myself. T shirts, pyjamas, wellington boots, you name it! Even her new school bag is the little mermaid (apparently winnie the pooh was for babies, so her little brother got lumped with that bag.

          **Purchase**

As I do every christmas, I purchase new nightwear for the kids and ourselves for christmas eve. New pyjames, slippers and dressing gowns. Its the little things...! So while browsing on ebay for ideas I came across a pink minnie the mouse dressing gown. I liked the idea of minnie the mouse as it is very girly and I know Sophie would love it. But I didn't really like this particular one. Didn't have the wow factor. (Never thought I'd hear myself say that about my five year olds clothing but there you go). So off I set to search out other minnie the mouse pyjamas and dressing gowns.

I trawled through ebay and amazon to no avail, when a friend told me to try disneystore.co.uk. Bingo! I came across this black and white polka dotted robe for £24.00 plus delivery. I didn't have an account with this website so immediately set one up, which took all of five minutes. Size wise there weren't many options, from 12-18 months up to 5-6 (which was actually out of stock). I went for the 3-4 years as Sophie is quite small in build anyway and I usually get this size. They promised delivery in five working days so obviously I forgot completely about it by then.....

          **The robe**

It was delivered in 4 days which I thought was great as usually companies like that can take up to ten days. I always have problems with amazon deliveries so got a nice surprise. Somebody else though, got an even bigger surprise...

I gave it to Sophie straight away to try out and see if it fit etc. I took it out of the plastic to find it looked exactly as it had in the picture, althoug quite small. It was white with black polka dots, and pictures of minnie scattered throughout. The hood was attahced to it with a red bow placed on top, just like Minnie herself. It had a bright yellow tie around the middle which relly stood out and looked great on it. I hadn't seen this in the picture so it was a nice surprise. It has two pockets with a flower sewed on each. Great for storing a little girls essentials you know :).

It is apparently 100% cotton and is extremely soft and fleecy to touch. The sleeves are long and baggy and the gown comes to Sophies thighs. It was slightly small on her but not noticeably small, she may grow out of it quickly. She didn't take it off for about a week so when I did wash it I made sure to put it in a delicate spin in case it shrunk.

          **My Opinion**

I love the gown. Its soft, warm and looks great on her. The only downfalls would be the price and the size. At £24.99 it isnt cheap. But as disney clothing goes, it is fairly reasonable. It is slightly small on her but I did get the 3-4 size, and she is 5. She usually gets these sizes but I would buy bigger so that the child wont grow out of it quickly and you get your moneys worth! It washes well, hasnt shrunk but is definitely not as soft as it once was.

          **Sophie's opinion**

She absolutely adores it. She wears the hood up so the bow will sit upon her head, 'just like minnie'. If she is cold during the day, on goes the robe. She wanted to wear it to school one day but I had to draw the line. Overall a great purchase because she is so happy with it and thats all that counts at the end of the day.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Great pair of pyjamas but I wouldn't expect any less for that price

My little girl is a huge sesame street fan, not quite unlike myself at her age. So, when I spotted these while browsing on littlewoods.ie, I had to have them. I'm a pyjama lover anyway...comfort before style is my motto! I own a selection of 'day' pyjamas aswell as nightwear. I'm sure I'm not alone in that respect. I have only one strict rule....they can be worn at any time of anyday...INSIDE the house. Seeing girls strut around the supermarket wearing slippers and jammies gives me chills of horror down my spine, I mean 'day' pyjamas are one thing.....

            **Purchase**

As I said before, there was no second thought in this decision. They looked great in the picture and size wise there were many options, from 8 up to 24. There wasn't an option with regards to colour but the white / pink combo on offer looked fab. I love buying with littlewoods as you can pay in installments and this option was open to these pjs also.

            *~Price~*

At Euro47.00 (£35.00) they were definitely on the expensive side. As pyjamas go they might have been designer for that price. Alas, that was not the case, unless you consider sesame street to be a designer brand, up there with Gucci, Prada and the like. Mind you, offer any of the previous to my five year old and you can guess which will win. As stated before, you can pay in installments on littlewoods (if you have an account with them), but still paying that price for pyjamas was a killer. Usually a £10 pair is considered a splurge in my household.

            **Style**

I always go a size bigger in pyjamas as they are designed for comfort at the end of the day. (Pun intended). I got a size 14 in both top and bottom, and although slighty loose, they were otherwise perfect. The top is mainly white cotton, with elmo's face in a heart and coloured a peach / pink colour. It is short sleeved and round necked and is not too short length wise. I am tall and can sometimes find that pyjama tops can be quite short at the waist. But this sat perfectly on the top of the bottoms and was very flattering.

The bottoms are the same peachy pink colour throughout and are scattered with white hearts. They are a loose cotton material, very soft and very comfortable. They are also long, like the top and quite durable. They are quite loose and flowy at the bottom also which I love.

            **Durability**

Like standard cotton jammes, these are machine washable. I don't actually wear them at night, even though that is what they are fully intended for. I change out of my night wear in the morning and throw these on. I have given my husband full permission to shoot if I am still wearing them come evening....although some days they are so hard to take off as it is just so much comfort. All the softness.....!

I have had them since just before christmas now and wear them at least once a week, so they have been washed maybe 7 times. My primark ones would have shrivelled up by now with that much washing but these are actually like new. And so they would want to be for Euro47.00!! The colour hasn't faded and they haven't shrunk even the tiniest bit.

Being nearly completely white on top though, they do tend to get easily dirty. But with grubby fingers around at the best of times, I am quite used to stains. They do wash out easily and in contrast to many white tops I own, the white comes back out as white as it went in

            **Overall**

As a whole I do really like them. Not as much as my daughter loves seeing me wear Elmo, but enough. Enough to justify the Euro47.00 though? No! I wouldn't pay that again and I wouldnt even have paid it in a normal store. Oh the temptations of online shopping.......

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

As a whole I would rate this a 9/10. A must have if your in need of a laugh

I've never been a big fan of the inbetweeners show, so when I heard that they were releasing a movie I didn't pay much attention, in one ear out the other. When it came to the cinema my friend begged and begged me to go with her for a few days and I blatantly refused. I told her I wouldn't understand the story as I have seen the show once ever. End of story. Until they released the dvd!! At this point all my friends had seen it in the cinema and were raving about how good it was. It still didn't interest me. One evening my boyfriend arrived home with a selection of dvds for our 'dvd weekend'. I actually cringed when I saw this one in his hand.....but me being me...I caved......
              **Storyline**

Having never seen the actual show, I had no clue who these four lads were. I had literally no expectations! But after five minutes, I had Will, Jay, Simon and Neil figured out! The film is about the end of school, and as we all know, the end of an era. As everybody else at the age of eighteen does, the booked a lads holiday to the sun. We follow their exploits to Malia as they embark on 2 weeks of drinking, chatting up girls, and getting into sticky situations. Obviously you don't need to see the dvd to know that things didn't quite go as planned for them. Simon is in depression mode and trying to get over his ex Carly, Jay is being extremely cocky and big headed (which apparently is no change to the regular Jay), Will feels out of his depth and Neil is out to have fun but not too much as he has a girlfriend back home. Do things go as planned however? Does Simon find a girl to get over Carly, does Will embrace the spirit of a lads holiday and does Neil stay faithful? Well you'll have to watch for yourself as I can't give too much away can I?
              **The DVD**

The dvd itself contains not only the film but 2 extra hours of unseen footage which is as hilarious as the movie itself. It shows the making of the film, all the bloopers and how they got on at the London Premiere. All this for Euro12.99 (£8). I consider it a bargain to be honest!! Subtitles are available on the dvd also.
              **My Opinion**

Having only ever seen one episode of the Inbetweeners, I thought I would be out of my depth. How wrong was I?? I didnt feel like I was missing out not knowing the past of the four lads. The film was absolutely brilliant. The four main actors in the film do a brilliant job of portraying the events of a typical lads only holiday which includes binge drinking, chatting up girls, lots of fun and humour and even the clichéd matching t shirts that shows they are on 'pussay patrol'!! The film does revolve around the four lads obviously but they are each so funny and unique that they make the character their own and make them so believable.
Without giving too much of the hysteria away, my favourite part of the film was a scene in the apartment the lads are sharing, which is far from your typical sun holiday digs, where one of the lads has pulled an unusual girl and has her at the apartment. Comedy Gold!!

Out of the four characters I particularly liked Will! At times you would feel quite sorry for him as he is so utterly different but at the same time portrays a lot of qualities of your own friends and typical lads. It is so funny to see the situations he gets in, without meaning to, because he is so naive.
In relation to sound effects and special features it was quite poor. Great dance tracks played throughout in keeping with the theme but no major effects. It doesnt give a negative view on the film though as it is not the type of film that would need special effects.

              **Overall**
As a whole I would rate this a 9/10. A must have if your in need of a laugh and guaranteed to cheer anyone up. There is very little to complain about as it is so genuiely funny.

              Advantages

              • Reliability

              Disadvantages

Great tv for family use, easy to use and great quality

I was on the hunt for a new tv as I really wanted one for our bedroom. We already have a sony lcd widescreen in the living room and didn't want something as drastic as that, just something simple that does the job. And, of course look fab on the wall in the boudoir! The guys in soundstore were literally zero help. They meant well...but all that technical talk just sent me to the land of nod and of course I didn't understand a word. LCD, with slim LED screen and full hd 1080.....HUH???

              **The Decision**

I purchased this toshiba beauty after discussing it with my sister, who only owns toshiba t.vs! She says they are reliable and do exactly what they are supposed to with no problems. Em sold!! I came across this particular one in Soundstore after turning my nose down at these high tech smart tvs. It was on display too so I could see how it would look and I loved it at first sight. The right size, great screen and wonderful picture.

              **Price**

At just under Euro350 (approx under £300) it was quite pricey and a little over my budget of Euro300, which had been a push anyway. But after comparing it to other televisions in the store that day I had found that this was an average price. For a bedroom t.v though, which to be fair only myself, partner and kids would use, it is a little pricey and if I had to decide again, I would go for a cheaper brand.

              **Toshiba 32SL738B**

I was ultra excited about the delivery, as one would be for any delivery!! It arrived on a saturday morning which was perfect. However, one downside. I had ordered quite a sizeable tv for an UPSTAIRS ROOM! Idiot!! It took the delivery guy, Liam and another friend, to manouvere it up and after nearly 45 mins we had a result. Now to put it together :) The tv is 32" and can be placed on the wall, which was our original intention or on a stand (such as a dressing table etc). We stuck with our orignal decision as with such a big tv, we wouldnt lose so much space if it was attached to the wall. It came with a large instruction manual which was filled with complicated words but lo and behold we didnt need to rely on it ....much! It was extremely easy to install. The hardest part was attaching it to the wall stand but leave these jobs to the men and all that. Installing literally took 5 minutes after plugging it in, to set up the various bits. It even came with a freeview box which was great as we were planning to get an extra sky box and now didnt need to.

              **Features**

It is a hd ready tv with an led backlight(which guarantees a great picture) We haven't even used the high definition feature yet, having had it for only three months but it is a nice feature to have should we feel the fancy. The sound and picture quality were quite impressive, allowing you to vary the setting among other usual setting like brightness or surround sound options, this was perfect if you know how to do this. I found the picture quality in particular way way better than my sony tv and everything appears so much brighter and in proper form. The sound is delivered via Bass Boost and Dolby digital sound, which gives it a much better quality. I love the fact that the LED backlight saves on energy as we use way too much in this household and to know that it can be reduced by even a little is great.

In relation to attachments, there is a scart lead socket, a usb port and three HDMI connectors. We have only used the scart lead thus far to connect a playstation and to be honest I'm not sure what we need the HDMI connectors for but its handy to have. There is a lot to work with features wise so I would highly rate it based on these.

              **Overall**

As a whole I think it was a good purchase. But if I were to decide again I would get a cheaper one as it is only a bedroom telly we needed. For a family tv I would highly recommend it as it is easy to use, has great features, a great reception. Everything you need in a tv these days.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Great purchase, would highly recommend it to anybody looking for a cheap good qualty styler. 10/10

I'm not a big fan of Remmington products if I'm honest. I've had bad experiences with straighteners and dryers in the past so tended to stray away from them. But when it comes to curling wands, there is really not much choice!! The best did seem to be of the Remmington brand!!

              **Purchase**

I have never owned a curling wand so to know what to look for was slightly hard...! Different products promised me different things, I didn't know what to do. So I enlisted the help of my best friend who is a part time hair dresser. She showed me the best hair styler in the shop (Boots) and I went for the one next to it as it was much much cheaper :) Hello Remmington curling wand!!! At 32 euro (on offer I'll have you know...and approximately £25) it wasn't extremely cheap, but with ones jumping at me for over the Euro100 mark, I practically ran to the till with this!

              **Features**

The curling wand is black with a ceramic coated barrel. It has a 3 meter long cord that is fixed through a swivel connection to avoid the cord getting twisted. I really like the long cord as my striagthener has a short cord which gets knotted and twisted around everything...major grr!! Other useful features include: digital display, auto shut off and lcd lock. I found the curler heats up extremely fast which is great as it takes me ages to do my hair so I love something that Im not waiting around for. It comes with a cute carry pouch which is heat proof so you can stick in the curler in a hurry without waiting for it to cool down. As you can tell Im not a very patient person so for anybody like me out there,,,,this is the curler for you :)

              **Usage**

I found this curler extremely easy to use. It has three buttons and can heat up to 210. I had envisioned it being so much harder as I had never curled my hair before by myself, watching my friend instead. The manual though is really simple to follow and tells you exactly what to do step by step to get luscious curls! You simply hold the hair near the root and wrap it round the wand bringing the tip of your hair to the tip of the wand, you then hold for a length of time depending on the thickness of the hair and the amount of spring you want in the curl this will of course vary, then let go and move on to the next section of hair. The wand sits easily in your hand and doesnt get uncomfortable like some would. My hair is quite thick so I would have to keep it in place a bit longer than most people would, say a minute or so.

For natural looking curls it would take up to 15 minutes to achieve. For a more dashing look for a night on the town, it would take me over a half hour. Then again to properly straighten my hair it would take the same length. The ceramic barrel gives your curls a great shine too which is a mjor bonus.

I would use this maybe once a fortnight so it gets a lot of use. I've had it since the end of the summer, so six months and have had no major problems yet, other than a burnt ear :) The wand takes 3-5 minutes to cool down and longer to get cold completely, but all depending on how long its been turned on.If your the forgetful type too, it has a cool feature that turns itself off after 60 minutes.

              **Overall**

All in all I am quite happy with the purchase. I wanted curly hair and thats exatly what I have. It actually gives me the same look i get in the salon and isnt to difficult to achieve. Money well spent

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

Overall a great buy and definiely worth the money

                ~*Benefit Coralista*~
I first came across this when I was desperately on the hunt for a new blush. Mine had just burst all over my bag and I had sworn off Rimmell for life! Stomping around Debenhams in a huff with life, I caught the eye of a Benefit saleswoman. I tried to make a run for it but I was cornered! One test off this blush however.....

                **Coralista Box**
Coralista comes in a square and very colourful little cardboard box, with a pull off lid. The colours caught my eye first off with the pinks, greens and leopard print details. How very fancy! The box is tiny and fits in the palm of my hand and is quite light. From this alone really you would expect the worst.....

                **The Inners**
Underneath the lid lies a mini blush brush with a wooden brown handle and white soft bristles. However, as the brush isn't round as a normal blusher brush would be, application with this brush leaves a very noticeable line on the cheeks, which needs to be blended out. As brushes go though I found it was good as it is soft and doesnt wear away too quickly as I have found happens with some

                **The Blush**
Coralista is unsurprisingly a coral coloured blush, which for me leans more pink than orange on the coral spectrum. It has a touch a shimmer which is great if you like a bit of sparkle and it definitely adds to the overall wow factor of the product. My skin tone would be fairly light and I applyed the coralista over my foundation and bronzer to give my cheeks a bit of colour. It definitely looked more natural as some blushers can give your cheeks a tangoed look!

At first I thought there wasn';t much blush in the box itself as it looks quite empty. However it has lasted me now over 3 months and is still going strong, considering i wear this daily, I find this a huge plus in a blush ;) Texture wise I loved it also. It doesnt cause too much dust and there isnt an excess to be blown off. It feels nice and isnt chalky or heavy.
                **Overall**

I found the blush to last an average amount of time. I put it on in the morning and it lasts perfect for about 5 hours before I top it up. I paid Euro35.99 (around £25-27) which is quite pricey but as a whole is definitely worth it if you want a quality blusher to last you a good amount of time. This is for a 12g box. I found it can be removed easily with a make up wipe also.
As a whole, out of ten I would give it a seven. I mark it down based mainly on price as the product itself is outstanding and by far the best blush I have tried.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

                  Great cheap hair dryer

When it comes to hair, I'm an altogether nightmare! I have so many hair products its frightening. The one thing I needed desperately though was a proper hair dryer as Id been using an old travel one for months which had zero power and gave my hair zero benefits. Cringeworthy hair day after day!!!
                  **Nicky Clarke NHD082**

When I saw that this Nicky Clarke HairDryer had been on amazon, I decided to buy it at once. The main attraction if Im being honest was the price. £18.99!!! You literally cannot go wrong with that price!!! I was a bit wary of how it would look and work for being that cheap however. Nicky Clarke is a celebrity though, and that meant it had to be a bit good right??
                  **Style**

This hairdryer has three settings of heat and two settings of speed, so you can choose how much efficiency you want to dry your hair with, the highest settings will dry your hair very fast, allthough I do find the highest setting of heat to be very warm, and not all enjoy that all that much. It also has two red buttons, one for a turbo boost which makes the hairdryer even more powerful, and one for cool air, to give cool air. It also came with a diffuser and a controller, which i have never used and therefore cannot comment on. What I was very impressed with in regards to this hairdryer, was how soft and lovely my hair feels and looks after I have dried it, it doesn`t frizz and become dry and tired looking as it used to with my old travel one (lovingly stored away should this blow up from too much use). It fit nicely in my hand too and is quite comfortable to hold, with an easy grip.
The dryer is black silver and purple which gives it a girly feel. It looks very professional and I wouldnt be surprised to come across one in a hair salon!

The power lead is long, meaning that I can easily move around the bathroom and bedroom without having to stand in the one spot..
                  **Overall**

Overall I think I got a great deal with this hair dryer. However, if it was more expensive then I probably would have went with another brand. It works ten times better than my old one and leaves me with not just dry hair but perfectly styled hair each and every time.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

Wouldn't purchase again, wasn't as promised

As a whole, I really love the No. 7 brand. Their product range is so broad and diversified that you can always find something different and new. In the past, I've used their eyeshadows, bronzers and day creams. Now I religiously use their eyeliner, mascara and blush. With all the great 3 for 2 deals and Euro7.50 off vouchers, you will always find a great deal with them. That is how I came across No 7 Intense Mascara.....

                  ****
I have spent hundreds of euro in the past on useless mascaras, ones that would clump, dry out quickly or just make no difference to your lashes!! Obviously I'm fussy when it comes to mascara...isn't everyone?? We all strive for model perfect lustrous lashes, hunt in vain for mascara that goes on smoothly, lasts alllll day and gives your lashes that oomph that every model seems to perfect!!!

                  **No 7 Intense Mascara**

I bought this particular one on a whim one day. Boots are forever having offers on No 7 products, so when I found myself in possession of a Euro7.50 off voucher I couldn't resist. At around Euro13 then, I didn't pay much for the mascara so found myself a bargain in all!!

The mascara came in black, brown black and brown shades, as well as in waterproof black also. I chose the black as I find these give the best results usually for me. I was promised a wide eyed, intense volume look with this so could not eait to try it out.

                  **My Experience**

I found the mascara to go on quite smoothly. It had a great texture to it and did not clump or leave my eyes a mess as some do! However, I didn't feel it gave quite an intense look as was promised. It was quite bland and my eyes didn't look too different. Not quite so spectacular. But maybe that's because I expected too much? It did stay on all day though so I did get great wear from it. Another downfall was the removal. It was quite difficult to remove, in comparison to other mascaras. I wouldn't have minded this too much if I had gotten the great intensity and spectacular lashes from it but because it was a bit boring and bland I felt it should have been easier to remove.

                  **Overall**

Overall I think I expected to much from the mascara. But with a name like Intense Volume, you would expect just that? I wouldn't buy it again based purely on the fact that it was just 'fine' and I always like a little bit more than 'fine'. For the price paid though, it was good value so can't fault it there.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

Great product for a great price

"WAXING HAS NEVER BEEN SO EASY!!!"....or so claim Veet on the box of their new, easy grip wax strips. When has waxing ever been easy I thought to myself when I read it? Nevertheless, I bought them! I'm a pretty much do it yourself kinda gal when it comes to beauty. Now, not to the extreme, but leg waxes, eyebrow tweezes, bikini waxes, simple. I would be much more terrified putting myself in the hands of some so called professionals....with their talons that could take your eye out a mile away!! So when it comes to home waxing, I would consider myself fairly well trained. (or self trained as the case may be)

**Veet Easy Grip Ready to Use was strips**

The packet itself stood out to me. I would consider Veet before any other anyway, but when I saw the vibrant colours I had to have it. I went for the sensitive skin version in the baby blue packaging, but offering the same shea butter nourishment there didnt seem to be much of a difference. The biggest difference between these 'new' strips and my regular ones was the easy grip addition. Also the sensitive strips contain Almond Oil and vitamin E rather than berry. I paid Euro8.65 / £7.70 ish for a jumbo pack which is great value as you get alot of use from it.

There were two size choices, the regular sized box with 20 strips and 4 finish wipes, and the jumbo pack which contains twice that amount. I went for the jumbo pack as I was familiar with the brand and product anyway but for somebody starting out, I would go for the smaller packet just in case.

The strips are simple to use but come with an instruction leaflet for those first timers! You simply take one strip (where the wax is contained in the centre) and rub it between your hands to warm it up (for approx 10 secs). you gently pull the two halves apart to reveal the wax and apply immediately to a clean dry area of leg, bikini line etc. Quickly then, pull the strip off in the opposite direction of hair growth and finish with the wipe to remove any excess wax. Simple!!

                  **My Opinion**

I find these strips easy and effective to use. The instructions are detailed and explains exactly what needs to be done. The wax is great quality and all comes off with the strip, or so i found. My legs were left totally hair free which is great as I find with some wax strips, all the hair is not removed. My legs felt super soft and silky and I know that is the main reason I will continue to use them as with shaving you just do not get that result. I didnt find much difference between the easy to grip and the standard but for the same price, who am i to moan. The process is of course time consuming but jobs like these do tend to be and no doubt going into a salon would take half the time...but nonetheless double the money!!

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

Great product for a great price. Has a lot of uses but face cleansing wouldnt be high on the list

Cleansing wipes, or even any face wipe really, is - in my opinion- one of the greatest inventions!! You can use them for just about anything. In the past I've even used them for cleaning my floor when i was out of floor wipes! Other uses have included wiping stains off the kids faces while we were out and about, wiping the dogs paws after the rain and mud, etc. But why use your 10Euro branded packet that claims to do wonders for your skin when you can use a packet for under £1 which does much much more.........

                  **Tesco Cucumber Wipes**
With 25 in a packet for just over a Euro1, round about 60/70p, you really cant go wrong can you? Aesthetically they wouldn't jump out at you. With other face wipes displayed in flouresent greens and baby pinks with brand names jumping out from everywhere, then these tend to get lost in the crowd and sit there aimlessly on the shelf. However, with the price tag that sits beneath it, I'm sure it gets noticed. It did by me anyway!!

                  **My Personal Opinion**
Now I know a lot of people are very fussy when it comes to skincare products, especially those for the face such as wipes, moisturers, lotions, that kind of thing. But is there really a difference between branded products such as nivea (which is quadruple the price anyway!!)?? Not to be a hypocrite, I'm going to set the record straight before we continue. I am one of those people, when it comes to moisturisers, but only because i find loreal is the only one that works for me.

Now these wipes I decided to try mainly based on price. I am a sucker for a bargain and these jumped right out at me! I never really stick with one 'brand' of wipes and tend to just by the cheaper option, because for me, they all do the same job, or do they??

I used these at first in other to remove make up before bed. And yes, they served their purpose. My make up was removed (skin still intact ill have you know) and my face was smelly fresh as a cucumber ;)!! However, and as much as I hate the 'but' part of a sentence, there has to be one in this particular case. I woke up (bear in mind I still had skin) and my skin felt tight and quite itchy. I had to double up on moisturiser to get it back to its original self. Now sometimes I do suffer from sensitive skin so maybe that was playing a part. But from then on I have just used them for menial things such as floor cleaning and wiping the dogs paws!!

                  **Overall**

Although cheap, I found that this product wasn't right for me. Everybody has different skin types so it may suit a lot of people and not suit others. But hey, that's the way these things go. I did find them useful overall. Maybe not for their original purpose of skin cleansing but for a variety of others. Maybe tesco should rename them as "Cucumber multi purpose wipes". They would sell alot more in that case!!

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

Good value for money, great product

Imperial Leather! Just two words and instantly you know what I'm talking about. How big this brand is, and yet I've never used a single product. Founded in 1879, there have been many many generations to create and improve this brand. Which explains it's well known status I guess. Everybody ahs heard of Imperial Leather and many have grown up with their various soaps, creams and bodywashes. So I consider myself a cosmetic failure for having never tested a single product. Ever!!

                  **Cusson's Bath Cream**

I'll be honest, the first thing that attracted me to this product was in fact the price. Followed closely by the appealing packaging! It leapt out at me from the shelf with it's £1 price tag...cheaper than my bus fare home, and far more relaxing mind you. I am a self confessed cosmetic junkie. Pots and jars of all kind litter the house and even more bath creams, gels and bubbles. So, being a Friday, I decided to treat myself. And what was the harm in adding one more to my collection. It would stand unique against the doves and L'Occtaine's of my bathroom.

                  **Packaging**

As one of the factors that drew me to this product, I have to admit, the packaging is fairly rad!! As with most imperial leather products, it has the curvature of the bottle. A unique quirk of there's that gives their products a little oomph factor on the shelf. The deep purple colour stands out from the crowd of whites and blues and all those "relaxation colours. It is a feminine, romantic and quite sophisticated colour....and it works. The 500ml bottle stands tall on the shelf also so it is not hard to track down if your on the hunt for it and if not, then it will be spotted anyway. A win win situation really!!

                  **Me Time**

I think putting away some time for yourself, if only once a week for an hour or so, is important for everyone. And what better way to relax in a hot, frothy bath with some nice candles and a bit of music. I personally make time for this every sunday evening and I really look forward to it so to find a good bath cream to soak in is great. Jasmine and Cotton Milk seemed the perfect ingredients to a nice soak. Usually I would go for a lavender fragrance as that is proven to be a relaxing scent. But when I tested the smell of this in the shop, it was quite appealing. So for £1, what could be the harm really?

                  **Overall**

Am I satisfied? That is the age old question for every product isn't it. To be honest, for the price I paid I am 100% happy with this product. The scent was soothing and lasted the duration of the bath (about 30 mins). It wasn't pungent or horriblly sweet as some can be but the perfect mixture and perfect for relaxation. It mixed well in the warm water to create light bubbles and a bit of froth, which, as some tend to do, didn't fade away with movement or in time. I would reccomend it, even at its usual retail price of 1.85. Good value for a relaxing night. Looks great on my shelf too ;)
