      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      a hair saving product

I'm a lover of dying my hair, I've had every colour you can possibly think of and tried so many different hair dye brands as I'm a firm believer in simply doing it yourself, it always turns out better and cheaper doing it yourself. It does take it's toll on the hair however so lots of deep conditioning treatments are needed and trims here and there. I've always just dyed my hair back to black when I've gone through a hair colour stage which when I do want my hair a different colour I've always had to bleach the black out of it. Lately I have discovered "Decolour" as an alternative way to removing hair colour in hope that I can go a lighter shade again.

There are several versions on this each are for something different, on the side of the box it has directions on which decolour box is best for you. This is the best one for me because it is for hair that has:
      - Large colour build up (This is if hair has been repeatedly coloured)
      - If you are trying to return to your natural shade
      - If you have black colour on your hair.
With all these things in mind it is the perfect box for me as my hair was black at the time so it meant that it is stronger to remove it. The best things about "decolour" is it doesn't include any amonia or bleach which means it inflicts no damage upon the hair. wow.

The box contains a large set of instructions, I found these really helpful because it has a list of questions in it such as, can I use if I have bleach on my hair too, if my hair is fragile, can I dye my hair straight afterwards, etc. It also tells you have to mix and apply this for the best results, it is mixed in the same way any other dye is used but specifically it says to add heat for the first 5-10 minutes. This encourages the molecules to start their magic on the hair. "decolour" promises that this is kind to hair and will not damage the natural shade and will protect hair lipid levels to help hair to have a great condition afterwards.

So I mix the liquids together and get ready to apply this bad boy. Before doing so I thoroughly brushed my hair to make sure it wasn't knotty. My hair is really short anyway so I didn't feel the need to section this off I simply squeezed some on to my hair and began to rub this all over and did this until my hair was completely covered, I only used three quarters of the bottle and my hair is just below my chin so this seems to go really far, just to make sure though I applied the rest of the bottle just for extra to make sure everywhere was covered. Even though it had more than enough on my hair the product wasn't runny and didn't drip down, this was sticky and clung to my hair.

My next stage was to put cling film on my hair, this is because heat helps the remover work faster just like hair dye, so putting this on my hair and using the low setting of my hair dryer I began to go over all my hair for a good five minutes. As the instructions said for black tones to keep this on for 40- hour. so In fifteen minutes I kept reapplying the heat with my hair dryer to keep giving it boosts of heat to encourage it. I kept having sneaky peaks here and there just to see how it was coming on and I found at 40 minutes I wasn't happy with the development as of yet so I left it on for a little while longer.

At roughly 50 minutes I decided that that would be enough time. So I go to rinse this off, the instructions say that when we are sure it is completely rinsed, comb it thoroughly then rinse it again. After doing this apply the conditioning balm, wait a few minutes and continue to rinse, to doing all this took me around 15-20 minutes altogether. I then gently towel dried my hair to then look and see my hair from black to a straw/ginger colour. Of course this is not my natural hair colour at all but it meant my hair had been stripped from all the rubbish that has been applied to it, miracle.

I then dried my hair with a hair dryer on a low setting. After wards my hair was a little brighter still which was great. But feeling it to me was the real result. My hair has never been so soft before especially after putting chemicals onto it. I am still so impressed, It was soft, sleek and not knotts at all I couldn't believe it. I left it like this for a few days before applying a new shade which I wanted on. This is a life saving product which I will continue to use, this is from boots and retails at £12.99

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      don't buy

"Natural collection" is Boots own brand which basically means it's really cheap and exclusive to Boots. I usually try to avoid cheap skin care products because when you buy cheap you usually get cheap however I was in desperate need of some form of concealer and had very limited amount of money but I also had some money on my points card. This costs less than £5 it's about £3 and they at the time had an offer on 3 for 2 on natural collection so I ended up buying some blusher as well as some powder so I think I got this one free.

There were a row of shades so they did vary a lot and they appeared to be more neutral tones rather than outrageous oranges you usually see, I liked this because it made it seem as if the concealer would be very subtle. I got the lightest shade.

When applying this it has a really creamy texture to it and the application brush on the end of the stick is really soft. I applied this to my cheeks, a dab on my nose, chin and forehead. It did take the dicolouration from the middle of my nose away and when applied enough times and let it set this covered my forehead too however on my cheeks it formed an orange line around my problem area and still let the red patches shine through it.

After applying my foundation my cheeks looked a little dry where the concealer was supposed to be which didn't impress me, so I applied some over the top of my foundation with my brush and this didn't look too bad but still let a lot of flaws shine through.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      exceptional concealer

I love testing out new make up especially with my type of skin (acne) I first saw on advert for sheer cover as a whole while I was at work once and when it moved onto the concealer it shower a woman with a massive birthmark on her face and with a speeded up video over time it showed make up artists covering it up with this and once they had finished you could tell the skin was discoloured but only slightly from her normal skin tone and I was amazed.

Wanting to try this for myself I bought this from sheer cover themselves for £20. I usually wouldn't pay this much but after seeing the video it was well worth paying that. this is 12g so of course it is quite small but I don't have anything overly large to cover up so I assumed this would last me.

I have really pale skin and the little problem this has is that it's duo concealer and not just one shade it's so you can mix them together to get another shade if you need to, I however only use the really pale side and so for me in my eyes I'm wasting the other side it's like just throwing £10 in the bin when I don't use the dark side.

This is a compact concealer, a little bit like paste. when buying they also sent me an application brush and I could tell that this was really high quality. So applying this to my problem areas such as my eyes, cheeks forehead and chin. I did a thin layer and this went on really smoothly leaving no creases in the concealer.

The effects where massive! I looked really awake and alert because my eyes were lighter and less dark circles. This completely smoothened and covered up my acne, it made it appear to look more smooth asif there were less bumps in my skin and this was lovely to see.

I used my normal foundation over the top of this and they worked really well together and blended brilliantly. The concealer surprisingly lasted me months on end simply because this goes really far, there is no need to apply a great deal of this.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

a good concealer that can be found cheaper when you look around

      Price and Availability

This is available in any store that has a benefit counter such as House of fraser, however since they do not offer a sample pot I looked on ebay and since they were so cheap on there I purchased one from there. In house of fraser brand new this retails at £28. I would pay that except I had never tried it and it's a small concealer. I pay just £6 for a brand new sealed pot of this from an outlet on Ebay, this was a more acceptable price to pay in my eyes.

      Shades

Erase paste comes in three shades, it's fairly easy to guess which one you need, don't need to go to a counter and ask for their opinion, I have pale skin so I bought the fair coloured one.

Fair - For pale skin tones
Medium - For normal skin tones
Deep - For darker skin tones

      Application

This is only a tiny pot but I've known this pot to last someone a year now. You can a little plastic application stick and this does come with instructions, we are told to use the stick and apply a layer is each area and dab it, we're also told to apply 10% more than we usually would because this does fade
like all make up after time.

Personally I found this to be too thick, so using my finger I dab this all under my eyes and this works absolute wonders on dark circles, my eyes then looked really wide, awake, alert and refreshed. I no longer looked tired even though I wasn't. I actually couldn't believe it.

      Results

Like I said this made a vast improvement on my tired looking eyes however when applied to other problem areas this seems to go all flakey like I had dried skin, and when putting my foundation on it didn't go over properly unless I put about 3 layers of foundation on which isn't something I want to do, this was a disappointment for my cheeks but paying just £6 to make me not look tired was well worth it.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

a good concealer at a high price

      Price and Availability

I bought this to go with my Estee Lauder double wear foundation due to my regular cheaper concealers not working well with this foundation. This cost me £19.99 which I wasn't too pleased about. I got my first concealer completely free when I bought the foundation and because it works well I thought that I better buy another one. But £19.99 for a concealer that I desperately need was too much but I had no choice.

      Shades

The woman who served me asked what shade of the double wear foundation I was using and matched it up that way, this is so the concealer isn't visible but still does it's job under my foundation. My concealer is the lightest shade out of them, and it's just labelled light.

      Application

It seems pretty obvious how to apply this, you just dab the brush onto the affected area you want to cover up such as redness, spots, dark circles. The application brush it attached to the lid and it's a little soft spongey brush, this is quite generous in size so you can get quite a lot on at once.

      The difference it makes

With this on my acne skin, it doesn't make the bumps disappear but it does make the harsh redness disappear which makes me feel a lot more confident in myself. I put this both under and over my foundation due to my skin being that bad and this well enough for me. This will last as long as the foundation does which is 8hours plus.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      yummy scented conditioner

      Price and Availability

This is found in pretty much every high street shop and every supermarket and ranging from either just below or just about the £1 mark. Which isn't too bad, they sell individual shampoos and conditioners but not combined 2 in1's which doesn't bother me too much but it would save space in the bathroom.

      Pretty bathroom colours

I've been drawn to this one more than the others in the past due to it's colour and it's scent, even if I don't get around to using it for a while it still looks nice in the bathroom. This is a pale pink colour, a little paler than the shampoo due to it being more creamy.

      Viscosity, lather and washing

Because this is a conditioner is it more of a creamy mixture rather than a gel like the shampoo is, just means I do use a little more, more like a handful by accident so I do waste a lot of this ( :( ) even though this is quite thick is spreads really well, this doesn't lather up but it does go really thick on my hair which helps to keep it up on my head when I'm chilling in the bath. Rinsing this off I need a bit of a scrub due to using too much, but it normally comes out really easily.

      Scent and results

This smells like a replica of strawberries and cream, it smells so good I could eat it. Once my hair is dry the scent is still fairly strong on my hair all day which is one of the reasons I keep buy this. This makes my hair really sleek and soft and for just £1 thats great.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

smells great for a budget shampoo

      Price and Availability

The alberto Balsam range is available in pretty much every supermarket so I have noticed so far such as ASDA, tesco and sainsburies, my mum used to buy these from ASDA with their four for £3 offer which is quite good because they're roughly £1 each anyway, this way it works out cheaper than £1 per bottle.

      Pretty bathroom colours

The strawberry and cream collection is one of my favourites and being a girl I'm more attracted to this for my bathroom anyway just because it's a really light pink, you can see the product because the bottle is see through.

      viscosity, lather and washing

The shampoo is easy to squeeze out of the bottle and when it does come out it's a gel like substance, it's quite runny, I usually like to get about a grape sized amount,I only have short hair and this covers my hair great. giving it a little rub once on my wet hair it bubbles up really fast and easily with no effort at all. Once I've rinsed this off my hair feels really clean and refreshed.

      Smell and Results

This is my favourite of the full balsam range because of the scent is delicious, strawberries and cream. This does actually smell like it as well and once this is on my hair the smell stays as well, I don't even have to use the conditioner to lock the scent in, This washes really well and it doesn't dry my hair out so I don't always feel the need to use conditioner.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      A good fragrant budget conditioner

      Price and Availability

The Alberto Balsam range is a cheap budget range but it's good at what it does, cleaning hair. You can find these everywhere on the high street and in super markets such as Tesco, Asda, boots, super drug, savers, Wilkinson and a lot more. The price varies in different shops but the price is either just above or just below £1. The cost of this is very fair, it doesn't promise to do anything other than keep your hair clean and soft.

      Pretty bathroom colours

This comes in a clear bottle meaning we can see the pretty colours they have to offer, the coconut & lychee is one of the more less appealing colours of their full range looking like a cloudy colour rather than a pretty colour. Not that this matters but I feel people would be drawn more towards the brighter colours, especially females.

      viscosity, lather and washing

What with this being conditioner it is thicker and the colour is more cream like, unlike the shampoo which is more like a gel. Due to this being runny and creamy when I squeeze some out, I get more than I actually wanted. I have short hair as well so some times I feel that I do waste a lot of this. I mean to put a double grape size into my palm but it ends up splattered everywhere probably a grape bunch size instead! This goes along way on my hair possibly because I have short hair, thankfully this doesn't lather up, it just goes creamy in my hair(sounds weird haha!) I find this is a little sticky (sounds even weirder!) but it keeps my hair in place for the next 5 minutes until I ma ready to rinse off.

      Smell and Results

The smell is the same as the shampoo, a dull coconut which I am a little thankful for. Whilst I have wet hair I don't really know the results but it take about 2 minutes to dry. My hair is soft which was my whole point in using a conditioner. I did notice that the smell was on my hair still but it was strong that I wouldn't wear perfume and have it clash. Overall the coconut range cleans my hair well, conditions, smoothens and keeps it soft.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

cheap shampoo that does the same as every other shampoo

      Price and Availability

The Alberto Balsam hair care range is available in almost every high street beauty shop and supermarkets from Boots, super drug, asda, body care, savers and more. Not only can you buy this pretty much anywhere but they are all roughly the same price as each other too, the bottles are roughly £1 each but in certain places like ASDA you can buy four bottles for £3 making it work out less than £1 per bottle like it would usually cost. The price is fair and so I don't mind paying it.

      Pretty bathroom colours

The packaging is nothing special, it just has a couple of labels on saying what it is and it's ingredients etc. The bottle is see through so we can see what colour the product is, not that it matters but us girls do like to have pretty things in our bathrooms. This Coconut & Lychee is one of the less appealing colours to see however since they're so cheap and they all do the same thing I thought I'd try it any way. This is an off white colour, more silver/grey if anything.

      viscosity, lather and washing

This is thick like a gel so when squeezing into the hands it's very easy, because of it's gel like appearance it is easy to spread around without having to use shed loads. I now only have short hair so I use a little more than a grape size amount. When applying to my wet hair and give it a quick rub this lathers up really bubbly and creamy straight away which is nice, I don't need to go mental with the scrubbing to see any bubbles from this. This washes my hair really well and thats all I can ask for from a shampoo.

      Smell and Results

Personally, I don't know what lychee even smells like, but this is not an in your face coconut smell and thats probably due to the lychee dulling the smell down, which i'm quite glad about because coconut smelling things remind me or burning/tanning fat men on the beach covered in oil, yuk. When washing my hair with just this shampoo my hair is very dry and squeaky when went, which is why you should use conditioner, but on a whole this cleans my hair and doesn't keep the coconut smell linguring around which is exactly what I want from this.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      good foundation

I have worn this for a few years now and so far it's still doing a good job. i buy mine from house of Fraser and it used to cost £24.99 but it's now gone up to £25.99. Although it's only gone up by a pound it makes it dramatically expensive for a foundation. This comes in lots of shades but I used desert beige and this is a light shade with a lot of depth to it. This goes on really easy because I use a brush but when I put too much on the brush this can go a bit streaky but I've learnt my lesson over the years and only use a little bit at a time now. Once I get this on I put powder on the top because this stays sticky and feels rank. This is long lasting and can last all day without having to re apply. This is supposed to be flawless foundation but when you don't have enough on it shows everything through.

This is a foundation I have always and will continue to use due to it's high quality and despite it's high price.
