Converse, an American brand, seem to have been a brand that's always been around in England as far as I remember (though I am young) perhaps so much so that you may think it was an English brand. Anyway Converse are a brand which specify in shoes however they're also in the fashion market though this may not be as popular.
In this review I'm going to write about my Converse All star classic trainers. I as I said above have known about Converse trainers for a very long time though I can't say I ever thought I'd buy a pair. Converse may be seen as shoes for 'skaters' or for 'basketball players' the two obviously very different but those back in the day were my stereotypes. However probably a year before University I decided I actually liked the look of converse and as they gradually become more popular I wanted them more and more and when I got to University and had my student loan.. mixed with a student discount I gave in and bought myself a pair.
Converse can be bought pretty much in any shoe shop selling trainers from sports shoe shops such as JD to other shoe shops such as Schuh, Office, Amazon, ASOS.. or obviously the official converse website. www.converse.com. Obviously prices will range from shop to shop as you may guess but on average £35-45 depending where you buy them from, but I would advise you to shop around first. Though even if you do end up paying £45 pounds for the trainers that's not necessarily a bad deal as the trainers will last a long time and your paying for a brand and other brands are similar prices if not more expensive therefore I believe Converse are reasonably priced, I'm just a cheap-skate being a University student.
Converse I believe are a very very stylish shoe and definitely 'in fashion' whether it be for a child, teenager, or even a mum or dad. The shoes are certainly popular with my age group at University but I believe most ages can pull them off. Converse as a whole do come in lots of different forms and styles however my focus is on the Converse All star Classic which is a much flatter standard trainer with no hi top around the ankle. They are very low cut and tie with laces as a normal trainer would do however the laces are quite wide (wider than most trainers) however this is probably one of Converses trademarks. The very well known converse 'all star' logo is printed onto both the back of the trainers on the sole and on the top of the tongue. I believe this shows the converse are a brand and gives it a more professional and stylish look and I guess you could say shows off what you paid that potentially £40 for. As for the look of the trainers they come in possibly any colour you could think of even sometimes prints and you can actually on the converse website personalise your converse to exactly how you want them this making them a great way to jazz up your outfit! I personally went for the safe option with white converse when I bought my own however since I've had that pair my sister bought me a burgundy coloured pair which I also love! I have to admit my white ones no longer are white due to constantly wearing them on nights out at University. But do not let this put you off getting white converse as they can easily be put in the washing machine as I've done numerous times which doesn't ruin them at all.
You may be wondering are these stylish shoes comfy... They do feel really really flat in comparison to other trainers as there isn't as much of a sole however this is easily got over and I think there very comfy (This coming from someone whos feet aren't in the best shape after injuries and lots of physio). To be honest I even sometimes exercise in mine this showing they really are comfy. I personally wear the shoes with small trainer socks too which do slightly show but this isn't a major issue. Also if you get the right size converse they will not rub the back of your feet and are in fact very very comfy shoes. Though when I bought my first pair I bought a size 3 which then rubbed the back of my feet as they we're too small but if I'm being honest I carried on to wear the trainers and they no longer rub my feet but my sister certainly didn't make that same mistake when she bought me a pair and bought me a 3.5 size. The fact that converse come in half sizes I believe is a great advantage because most people swap and change between shoe sizes depending on the brand and Converse offer a wider range of sizes. If I was to give advice on the sizes I'd say that its probably best to get a smaller size than you usually would as I'm normally a size 4 but size 3.5 is certainly better for me in Converse but obviously try before you buy!
When is it suitable to wear these shoes?
I believe all the time that you wish to do so. I personally even wear them in the rain.. its only if your in the worst rain possible for a long time that the rain will soak through and you end up with very cold wet feet. But most people do see them as a summery kind of shoe which is understandable with the material being slightly canvas type.
What to wear the shoes with?
I really do shove my converse on with pretty much all outfits. I believe there a comfy reliable shoe which always looks good and adds usually a bit of colour and style to your outfit. I personally often wear mine with leggings or skinny jeans or even shorts or a dress depending on what I wear on a night out around University as they are very casual but still nice enough to wear out.
I really would recommend Converse. I think if you like the look of the trainer then it would be a great buy and something you need waiting for you in your shoe rack. I'm glad I bought these trainers there reliable, I've had one pair for over a year now and there still in a wearable condition and they were one of the best purchases I ever got.
Go get yours.
Thanks for reading my review.
Hairspray is an essential part of my bedroom and something I always have in the house. When it comes to hairspray I quite often ignore the big brands these days as the prices are ridiculous and being a student I just can't bare to part with that money when I know cheaper hairsprays usually do the same job. Therefore I decided just before returning to University I would try out Asdas own brand hairspray and the extra firm hold edition.
The hairspray comes in a large 300ml silver cylinder shaped tin (as most hairsprays do) this hairspray however comes without a lid and instead has a moulded part at the top to place your finger and press down to release the hairspray this is quite easy to use and you can press down with your finger more or less pressure dependent upon how much hairspray you want to use. The design of the tin is pretty basic with the ASDA logo standing out and also it being clear that this is hairspray and extra firm hold to be precise. The hairspray isn't exactly eye catching and is very basic however what can you expect when this hairspray comes at such a little price of around 70p per bottle. Which is a lot cheaper than all the leading brands which you can be paying up to £5 for your hairspray for a bottle which is the same size.
Now for the product itself, does this hairspray work?
I personally had bought this before university before a very busy first week as I was involved in Fresher repping basically looking after the freshers in a morning with activities moving them in then at night time from 6pm-3am and even later. This all leaving me with very limited time to get ready most of the days. So you can understand that when I used this hairspray it HAD to be good and had to work sufficiently as I'd have barely any time to eat never mind re-style my full head of hair.
To my disappointment I used this hairspray for the first time and a watery thin substance came out of the tin leaving my hair hard in parts and the next day extremely hard to brush out. I was annoyed with this but then thought to myself its my own fault... I didn't shake the can before using it (which yes I should have). So even though my hair was hard for that night and barely brushable the day after I forgave the hairspray and thought to use it again.... this time shaking it well before using. I sprayed the hairspray in the air and it looked to me to be slightly better so I thought great time to use it on my hair but then AGAIN the substance that came out of the hairspray was thin watery and squirting towards my hair leaving it hard in certain places. I also squirted the hairspray onto my face (if you have read any of my old reviews you will know that I do this to keep my make up on sometimes) however when I got downstairs rushing to go out and had a last minute check in the mirror my face was flakey in some places and then my make up flaked off because of the hairspray just before I had to leave the house so yet again I wasn't impressed with this product and in the end ended up chucking the hairspray in my bin so that I could no longer use it by accident and end up with problems such as these again!
As you can see above I was not happy in the slightest with this hairspray, perhaps I just got a bad bottle but I certainly have been put off using Asdas own brand hairspray after these experiences.
I really would not recommend this hairspray from my experiences with it.
Thanks for reading my review.
In this day and age the majority of us have smart phones. A smart phone basically being a phone with apps such as music players, the internet, Facebook, Twitter and so on which the majority of us need or may just want these days, I certainly know I couldn't live without a smart phone. One of the main apps I do use and have used on a few different smart phones now is Whatsapp and within this review I shall focus on the application WhatsApp available for smart phones such as new Sony phones, Samsung phones, I Phones, Blackberrys, Nokias and many more. An advantage of this app is that it can be downloaded to a large range of mobile phones unlike some messengers e.g Blackberry messenger which was only available on Blackberrys. WhatsApp allows people with different smart phones to contact each other using the same app.
I am constantly texting whether its texting my friends from home or university or even my family and I may have unlimited texts within my contract but I still prefer to use WhatsApp to message the people who also have it. I also think it will be a great advantage to those of you without a large amount of text messages on your contract, or many on your contract. Though I do advise BE CAREFUL as WhatsApp messenger does use the internet which can be more expensive so make sure you are connected to Wifi or have internet bolt ons. Anyway moving on...
What is Whatsapp-
Basically WhatsApp is an application which can be downloaded to your mobile phone (If it is a smart phone that is) for FREE. You may be wondering what is an application??! Basically applications/apps are programs you install onto your mobile phone which make things so much easier such as messengers like Whatsapp is, image editiors, Facebook, Twitter and so on. So WhatsApp is a instant messaging application this application can be downloaded simply by writing WhatsApp into your app store or by writing it into Google and going on the official website for WhatsApp. Its easy enough to download and as far as I am aware of is free for a year though it does say it will cost 79p per year after this, if this is the case it still isn't an extreme price and I'd say certainly worth it anyway.
What happens once you download WhatsApp?
Once you download WhatsApp onto your smart phone the app will ask for your mobile phone number, using this it finds all your contacts which also have WhatsApp and places them all onto a list of contacts just like your contact book in your mobile phone. However this time they will all have photographs of themselves if they wish to do so and a status, again if they wish to do so. Now as this is an instant messenger you can give yourself a nickname if you wish or just simply have your name and you can upload a picture of yourself too. I personally believe this gives WhatsApp an edge to texting and makes it more interesting than boring black and white text messages, though that is a personal opinion.
Once you've got your little set up its time to get chatting to your friends-
Starting a conversation is simple, just click on the persons name who you want to speak to and up pops a screen with there picture at the top and this allows you to type your message to them and send it. A great advantage to WhatsApp is that you can actually see when that person has last seen your conversation as it tells you the time, so if someone is ignoring you, you will know! Though for those who want to be clever just don't click on there conversation if you can't be bothered replying for a while. Next to where you type there will be a smiley face which if you click it pops up with lots of different emotion faces such as smiley faces to people dancing to food to even road signs and these small emotions help liven up the conversation and make the app so much better in my eyes as I do love a good emotion here and there in my conversation and there honestly is one for every single mood you could possibly be in and want to express.
Sending stuff over WhatsApp-
As you may know it costs to send a MMS message on mobile phones.. I think 35p which in reality is steep for a tiny picture and I'd avoid. A great advantage to WhatsApp messenger is you can send photographs, videos, contacts, and audio clips FOR FREE. Therefore I find myself constantly sending pictures over WhatsApp and receiving them to. This is a great advantage and makes the app so much better, easier and more convenient than text messaging. Certainly a reason to download the app in my eyes.
I also on my phone, the Sony Xperia SP can actually press a microphone button which is placed next to where I type and speak to my phone and it will type what I am saying rather than me having to text it say if I'm busy. Which is very lazy of me perhaps at some times but a great advantage again. Though I do have to admit sometimes it doesn't understand my northern accent and writes completely different words. I am also aware that other new smart phones are capable of doing this also.
A great feature of WhatsApp is the fact you can have group messages, I have a few of these with my friends and I do believe it would be a great advantage for businesses or people at work to use with there colleagues. Making a group message is easy you simply click your menu button and then new group and add whoever you want in the group then chat away and they will all be able to see the messages posted in that group chat and all post messages themselves. I believe this really is helpful and useful for planning events or in my case most of the time just telling people the same thing but in one go rather than copying and pasting or writing the text out twice.
To round up-
This app is one I personally would struggle without as I find it so much easier to contact people with Whatsapp and believe I can just send message after message like I am on chat on Facebook rather than sending one large message and having to remember everything like you usually would on a text message. I believe it is an app useful for anyone of any age who likes to keep in contact with people throughout texting and messaging. WhatsApp puts all your contacts in one place, is free to use rather than 10p a text or using your text messages up...but as I said above be careful with your internet because I know it can use internet and quite a bit so I'd just say be connected to Wifi as much as you can. I did mention this to EE when I was upgrading my contract and she did in fact say WhatsApp doesn't actually use much internet. Also this app I believe is extremely reliable, I never have problems with it freezing or not working which I have had with other apps in the past. Also regular updates are always available which your smart phone will inform you of when it is time to upgrade the app.
The only disadvantage I could possibly pick at is WhatsApp does take a lot of battery up meaning I have less battery time and my phone lasts a full day maybe more before needing charge but I do use it a lot throughout the day and believe its a small disadvantage which is well worth it. I also play a lot of games and use many other apps on my phone so it isn't just WhatsApp taking my battery.
I'd certainly recommend this app if it is available for your phone.
Thanks for reading my review, I hope it helps.
As you all probably know by now I own a rabbit who is now just over two years old named Peter so I thought it would be a good idea to do a few reviews for him and his food. So here is my review on the Pets At Homes own brand Adult Rabbit Nuggets.
Pets At Home-
Pets at Home is a very large and in my eyes reliable and trustworthy company with stores across the UK, supposedly 320 stores so there should be one somewhere near you if you live in the UK. As the name gives away it is a pet supplies shop and even sells pets. Most Pets At Home sell Rabbits, Hamsters, Guinea Pigs, Rats, Degus, Chinchillas, Bearded Dragons, and many more forms of Lizard and all sorts of fish. But not only does the shop sell the pets in store it sells everything you could possibly think of for your pets. From things for your dogs to tanks for your fish to even cages for your birds, you name it and Pets At Home more than likely will have it. Also it sells a very large variety of animal food of there own brand and other brands however today I'll focus on the food and Peters Adult Nuggets for Rabbits.
The packaging and prices-
Pets at Home adult rabbit nuggets come in a shiny silver thick bag which is quite plain with the green Pets at Home logo and in large writing what the product is 'adult rabbit nuggets' it is obvious this product is for rabbits and there is also a picture of two rabbits on the front of the packaging, again making it obvious. On the reverse of the packaging there is nutritional information and ingredients. The product also comes in three different sizes, which I believe is an advantage just incase your bunny doesn't like the food. These sizes being 2KG retailing at £3.50, 4KG which would cost you £6 at the moment due to price cuts but usually retails at £6, or 10KG which would cost £15.00. I believe all of these are actually reasonable prices for the amount of nuggets you are getting as you don't need to use many per rabbit per day and pets at home are a great brand and reliable so I prefer to spend my money with them.
So what are these nuggets?-
Adult rabbit nuggets are actually a complementary adult rabbit food which provides your rabbit with vitamins, minerals, fibre and profeed which all boost your rabbits digestion and health. An advantage to nuggets over other food such a muesli is the fact your rabbit can't pick out the bits he/she likes and leave the bits they don't as these nuggets have all the goodness blended into one. You must be careful with these nuggets however and not over feed your rabbit on them, a mistake I have made in the past. The packaging does actually tell you what to feed your rabbits daily depending on the breed.
Here the instructions are...
Type of rabbit- Ideal weight- Daily feed.
Dutch 2kg-2.3kg: 50g-60g
English 2.7kg-3.6kg: 70g-90g
Netherland Dwarf 0.9kg-1.1kg: 25g-30g
French Lop 4kg-7kg: 100g-170g
Giant 5kg-7kg: 125g-170g.
However I would say still be careful and make sure your rabbit has a diet of MAINLY HAY!!!! I have had many problems with my rabbits teeth which the vet bills are unbelievably dear for £170 a time this is actually due to his teeth being misaligned but if a rabbit doesn't eat enough hay it can cause there teeth to grow and hurt them stopping them from eating which is fatal with rabbits! I've learnt a lot from the vet trips. My vet actually told me rabbits do NOT necessarily need nuggets every day and if you are to feed them nuggets in my case for my Lop rabbit he should only have an egg cup full of nuggets, a very small amount. Therefore I don't actually use nuggets every day I only use them here and there to help give Peter some vitamins and goodness as I know he would rather fill himself up on nuggets than hay. So I feed him fresh veg in the morning and then hay throughout the day and night with nuggets every now and again.
Moving on...What does Peter think of these nuggets?-
When I first got Peter I did buy his indoor cage from Pets at Home, this being £60 and actually came with a starter pack for rabbits including the Pets at Home branded junior and dwarf nuggets therefore this was the reason when Peter got older I decided to stick with the same nuggets but the adult version. I'm not going to lie, when I first gave Peter these nuggets he looked at them and run off as if I'd give him something horrible and he wasn't keen for a long time so much so that I actually bought him some Junior nuggets which are just more fatty for the rabbit which he happily ate. However I then got fed up with that and kept trying to feed him the adult nuggets as pets at home to recommend you to introduce these nuggets slowly over ten days and gradually Peter did like them.. now he goes crazy for nuggets, as if they are his drugs. As I write this review he is currently sticking his head in the bag making the most of me being busy he really does love them that much. I do believe the nuggets do help to keep him healthy he has a beautiful coat of hair and is a really happy rabbit when his teeth are in good condition. Therefore I do think it is a thumbs up from Peter who goes crazy for these and would probably eat them all day if I gave him the chance.
Whatever you do, never let your rabbit live off just nuggets, I know Peter would love to. But you really have to be careful and make sure your rabbit is getting enough hay as if the rabbit gets teeth problems its a nightmare so try to avoid the teeth problems as much as possible and only give your rabbit the recommended amount of nuggets and if they are fussy and avoiding hay still I would recommend that you cut the nuggets out for a while as my vet has told me on many occasions.
These nuggets are great and healthy for your rabbit, they are a good part of a mixed diet and help get the nutrients into your rabbit that they need. I believe Pets at Home are a reliable brand and one that Peter goes crazy for. Peter apart from when his teeth are hurting him is usually a very healthy rabbit and these nuggets do potentially help him therefore its a thumbs up from both me and Peter and I'd certainly recommend getting your nuggets from Pets at Home also the nuggets are a great price for the amount you get and if your rabbit loves them as much as Peter does you will certainly get your moneys worth. Also I'd recommend the nuggets over muesli for the reasons that your rabbit can't pick and choose which bits to eat and miss out on some health kicks.
Thumbs up from us.
Thanks for reading my review.
Sourz is a well known brand to most of different flavoured fruity liqueurs which is produced and bottled by Beam Global Espana in Spain. I have to admit Sourz and perhaps cheaper rip off versions of Sourz are something I certainly drank before I was old enough oops but I still on occasions drink this still. In this review I am going to focus on the cherry flavour of the Sourz brand.
What is it?
As said above Sourz is a versatile brand of fruit liqueurs which can be used both as a mixer with your favorite pop, it can be placed into a cheeky cocktail or the main reason for Sourz is to place the alcohol in shot glasses and shot shot shot! But it doesn't particularly matter how you drink it, its up to you and as I said has many ways to be drank (I shall give a few ways later on.) As you may be able to guess Sourz is a very sweet but sour spirit drink which may not appeal to some people but I'd say give it a try. The alcohol percentage is 15%Vol now in comparison to other shooter drinks this is actually really low as most range from 30%-45% and perhaps higher such as Sambucas, Vodkas, Tequila. Therefore I believe it is an easy shooter of a drink to drink if your perhaps not used to shots or maybe not a fan of them. Each shot of this drink has 0.4 UK units and a full bottle has 10.5 so obviously be aware of this and drink safely blah blah blah but I personally believe its not a strong shot in comparison to other choices there may be.
What does the alcohol look, smell and taste like?-
Once you pour out the alcohol or even take off the lid the very very strong cherry scent meets your nose. Its an unbelievably strong smell but a very nice one at that, I don't believe you can smell the alcohol one bit and it smells very fruity and appealing unlike some shots where you can't smell them before shotting them! Therefore that's another advantage for those of you who aren't the keenest on shots and I believe you'd find this one easier to do. The spirit itself is very bright red in colour and again looks quite appealing and fruity. I again find this makes it easier to know what flavour you may be having as the colour of the alcohol is coordinated to the flavour from what I know which is helpful when you have a few of the flavours lined up. However this can be a disadvantage if your wearing white or light colours as it may stain!!
When shotting the drink I feel there is a very strong cherry taste and it is also very sour (as you may expect with the brand name). I don't find the shot is strong at all alcohol wise therefore it doesn't make me gag or feel ill and I believe you can barely taste the 15% of alcohol in the shot therefore its quite a good shot that doesn't leave you shuddering and gagging at the taste. The sourness is a bit off putting and if you have too many some people may find it a bit sickly beacuse of the sweetness and sourness. I believe the after taste the shot leaves is nice unlike most spirits you shot however I feel it leaves you feeling sticky and if spilt is certainly very sticky to clean up though I work in a bar and have found most spirits are very sticky once spilt.
Sourz probably is the most known brand of fruit flavoured shots due to it having the biggest range. Sourz comes in a range of flavours such as Cherry, Apple, Raspberry, Mango, Tropical and even special edition flavours at times such as Christmas. I always find myself seeing a new bottle of sourz so the range is never simple and boring and I feel its at an advantage to other brands as most brands such as Mickey Finns only do the obvious flavours such as Cherry and Apple and I feel this lets them down. Not only do Sourz have all this wonderful flavours they in fact have alchopops now too available in big bottles or small cans these flavours being Apple Bite and Purple Twist though I won't mention too much about these and leave them for a later review, now back to the Sourz cherry liqueur.
Where to get Sourz and how much will it set you back-
Sourz are a very large, reliable and I'd say popular brand therefore you do pay for what you get. Sourz can be bought in most supermarkets who sell branded alcohol such as Asda and Tesco and obviously you can buy this in most local off licenses and beer shops such as Bargain booze. Prices will range and you are in the long run better of going to a supermarket for the Sourz as the price will be a whole lot cheaper. Currently in Asda and Tesco a 70Cl bottle of Cherry Sourz is retailing at £12.00 this is without being on any kind of offer and I find that it is often on offer and you can get a bottle for as cheap as £8.00 when this is the case so I'd recommend keeping your eyes peeled for the offers. Though you may have to be quick when this does happen as I find often certain popular flavours such as Cherry are quick off the shelves. One small problem I could possibly state with Sourz is the bottles can only be bought in a 70Cl bottle which may not always be convenient to you and sometimes in the past this has actually made me buy another brand of similar stuff due to the fact they have smaller bottles. But this isn't a huge issue just a little one for those who want to try it but may not like it. I must add that each bottle actually comes in a different colour which relates to the flavour so the bottle colour for Cherry sourz is a red glass bottle with white writing with the Sourz large logo and then 'Spirited Cherry' I believe it is very easy to set apart from other brands and easy to tell what flavour you will be getting.
What can I do with Cherry Sourz??
As I mentioned above if you do buy this drink there is so many different ways you could drink it, I thought I'd share a few ways I enjoy Cherry Sourz.
As a shot-
As I've explained above this tastes fruity and is an easy shot to drink so get your shot glasses at the ready!
With your favourite mixer-
I personally think cherry sourz tastes amazing with lemonade and is a beautiful summery fruity cherry flavour drink or I also think it tastes great with coke and tastes almost like your drinking cherry flavoured coke but with an alcohol twist to it.
Purple Rain Cocktail-
This cocktail is a great summer drink, there are many ways to make it however this is a way I personally know. You would mix in a glass one 25ml shot of blue curaco, one 25ml shot of cherry sourz and then top up the drink with lemonade and ice. This leaves you with a beautiful purple cocktail which is sweet and fruity and great for when your sat out in the sun or even getting ready for a night out with the girls/boys. I'd certainly recommend trying this if you buy Cherry Sourz at any point.
There are also many other ways to mix your Cherry Sourz, its all about experimenting! I'd certainly recommend you try the Cherry flavoured Sourz as it personally is a favourite of mine and a great drink which can be drank in many different ways.
Thanks for reading my review. Hope it has helped.
MUA- Makeup Academy as I've said before are a brand tucked away in the corner of Superdrug one that you may not have noticed before as I personally didn't until I became a poor student. If you have no idea about MUA yet funds are low or you just don't fancy spending a complete arm and leg on make up then a tip for you is to get to know MUA...and quick. The brand is unbelievably cheap and has a great range of all make up and even a nail care range however in this review I shall focus on the lip boom lipstick.
My sister as I'm a skint student decided to kindly send me some make up to Nottingham such as mascaras and this lip boom lip stick as she had found some deals when buying herself similar products. I personally am a huge fan of lipstick.. and love to try out different colours/shades and brands but a personal favourite colour is bold reds whether it be day to day or for a night out so my sister decided to go for the bright red lip boom for me as well as herself.
A bit about the lipstick-
The lipstick can be bought either online at http://www.muastore.co.uk/index.php/lips/lipboom or simply in your nearest Superdrug store. The lipstick I think at the time my sister bought it was brand new and is associated with Alexandra Burke as MUA created this lipstick with her and shes on the front of the cardboard packaging..this may make the product more appealing to some of you. The lipstick comes in 8 shades, personally I don't believe that is a great range of colours but MUA aren't the hugest brand so that may be why but the basic colours such as reds pinks and browns are covered. As you can see on the website if you did wish to do so http://www.muastore.co.uk/index.php/lips/lipboom. The lipstick is a wonderful price of only £3.00 which is unbelievably cheap I personally wouldn't even expect a lipstick this cheap even as a student. BUT the lipstick is not just a lipstick alone, it claims to be a four in 1 lipstick which can transform your lips and give them boom in four different ways (which I shall speak about later).
Packaging and the lipstick-
The product comes attached to cardboard with a picture of Alexandra Burke taking up most of the space. Then above this is the MUA logo which stands out in silver writing and then the lipstick itself with black cardboard covering the middle section and in large silver capital letters it boldy states LIP BOOM. I personally believe the packaging helps make the lipstick stick out compared to all other lipsticks but I believe it does have a cheap look but for £3 thats probably going to be the case.
The lipstick itself is in my eyes in height very large and probably about the size of two normal sized lipsticks on top of each other is the best way I could describe it. But this is down to the lipstick not only being a lipstick but having other features. The lipstick is black in colour and plastic, not very classy looking but again what can you expect. One end of the lip boom is a clear section where you can see a shiny pink glittery colour (in my case) this is the lip gloss. On the other end is a small lip balm which can be pulled off and is a very dark rich red colour there is nothing in the product to apply this with but I'm guessing you would dip your finger into it and apply using your finger or perhaps use a small brush. You may be wondering where is the lip stick??? If you pull the middle section the lipstick pulls out of this little handy yet technical beauty product. The lipstick then twists up as a normal lipstick would. I would say the only issues I feel there are with this product is the size is a lot larger than other lipsticks and it doesn't particularly look very nice and looks quite cheap if that was to bother you.
THE LIPBOOM IN USE-
The lip boom product claims it is a four in one product...
1. Lipstick alone for a matte look.
2. Lipstick with highlighter applied just to the centre of your lips to create a full volume illusion.
3. Lipstick with highlighter all over for a super-glossy look.
4. Highlighter alone for a sheer pearl finish.
I personally only really use the lipstick as I really do not like the stickyness of lipgloss and lip balm seems irrelevant. However for this review I have obviously tried and tested all elements of the product. Firstly the lipstick alone I believe is a beautiful rich but quite bright red colour and I sometimes wear it on a day to day basis but can also wear it on a night out if I wish to do so. I however have a small issue with the lipstick as it is very dry compared to other brands of lipstick and I believe it doesn't leave my lips feeling the best but what can you expect for a low price. I love the colour of this lipstick so a way I have come around this issue is simply applying a nivea lip balm before applying the lipstick then I find its easier to apply and my lips don't feel as dry. One thing I have recently noticed about this lipstick also is IT LASTS FOR AGES! It does actually last longer than other brands of lipstick I have such as GOSH and Avon and Barry M which makes this lipstick worth the buy especially for the price. I find I will apply it in a morning and it will still be there maybe a bit faded but by early night time.
The lip gloss can be applied either to your lips with lipstick on or alone for a sheer pearl finish. The lip gloss as I said above has a glittery look to it which automatically puts me off as it reminds me of being younger and trying out make up thinking it looked alright. Now unfortunately for me who doesn't like the glitter look... this lipstick leaves a very glittery look. But if you like glitter then not to worry this lip gloss leaves you with a glittery yet shiny look and isn't too sticky unlike some lip gloss. Also the gloss has a great smell and reminds me of vanilla.
The lip balm is very small and the website doesn't actually say what to use it for, I think its lip balm with a tint as it is quite sticky when you touch it. When applied to my lips I found it was quite sticky therefore again I do not use this.
To conclude this lipstick may be large and dryer than others but I still believe its a great combo of lipstick and lip gloss in one for those that use both. It personally appeals to me due to the colour and the long lasting lip stick and also obviously the price but I can see why other people would enjoy this product I just really am not a big fan of lip gloss. But even if you was not to enjoy this product it is only cheap so isn't a huge issue. If you like lipstick and lip gloss with a glittery shine then get trying the MUA lip boom ladies.
Thank you for reading my review, hope it helps.
I have a tendency and very bad habbit of sometimes chewing on my own lips, no idea why but usually when I'm feeling stressed and this then leaves them sometimes chapped and sore and not in the best way which is never a good look. I received this Nivea soothe & protect lip balm along with other types of Nivea lip balms as a small stocking filler gift for Christmas.
When I unwrapped this gift I was happy that my mum had gone for a reliable brand such as Nivea and thought these lip balms would come in useful in particular the sooth & protect as I'm forever hurting my lips with the chewing so they need soothing and well the protect thats just an added bonus protecting you against the sun with the SPF 15. The product came in a tin with other Nivea lip products however you can buy the product alone if you do wish to do so. The product that I know of can be bought in stores such as Boots, Superdrug, Asda, Tesco, Bodycare and potentially may more with Nivea being a large brand it is something you see in a lot of different places. If you was to buy the product on its own currently is retailing at boots for £2.59 which is more expensive than the original and basic Nivea lip balm from the same range. This potentially is quite expensive but I guess you will find yourself paying for both the brand and quality of products.
What does it look like?
The product is small in shape and the shape of perhaps a standard lipstick. It is of a good size which could easily fit into a bag or even a pocket so you could take it anywhere you wished to do so for day to day use which is helpful as thats what your going to need this product for. The lip balm lid is a mint green in colour with the base of the product being white I believe this helps to distinguish where you pull the lip balm out and how it seperates from the lid. The colouring of the product being mint green also I believe is neither girly or manly therefore meaning it won't be too embarrassing for either gender to carry this around. On the lid is the standard blue and white nivea logo and underneath this it is stated that it is sooth & protect SPF 15 therefore it is easy to pick out and tell what exactly the product is for it doesn't take a genius. Also this product is a different colour to the other types of lip balms Nivea produces therefore again Nivea are making it easy for us.
Once you pull the lid up off the base of the product you are presented with a white lip balm which you can twist the base up and down to make more of the balm come out when and where you need to. When applying the balm it is really easy and is just like applying a lipstick to your lips.. boys just place the balm across your lips making sure you cover them. It is really easy to apply and is clear therefore not leaving you with any form of colouring therefore this being another reason why it is good for both genders and even children. Though I must say the lip balm does leave a slight shine to your lips but nothing drastic. When I have used this lip balm I can feel that the lip balm is moisturising my lips and it does leave them feeling softer suddenly. However I believe if my lips are in bad condition and really sore this lip balm isn't as good at others at soothing and moisturising my lips which I was very disappointed with as I expected a brand as reliable as Nivea would suit the job perfectly. Not that your supposed to taste try this product but who can help themselves this lip balm unlike some others has no taste to it therefore won't leave you feeling sick when you accidentally lick your lips with it on. The product however does have a slight scent to it of the usual Nivea scent which I can only describe as smelling clean and fresh and like the moisturiser. But this scent is not over powering and doesn't leave you feeling sick like some lip balms may do. One thing I will warn you about is where you keep this lip balm, whatever you do don't leave it in a warm place or in your back pocket which you are sat upon as it leaves the lip balm melted and then very very messy to apply. I would recommend only using the product when its only slightly soft otherwise you will end up with too much lip balm on and as I said a messy procedure. I have made this mistake before and a way of resolving it is simply putting your lip balm in the fridge for a few hours.
I personally would recommend this lip balm as one to keep your lips in an alright condition day to day and keep them soothed and obviously protected from the sun which is a great advantage to this lip care. Though if you do get your lips in a bad way, this is not going to do the job for you which is disappointing so I wouldn't waste your money if thats the reason you need it because you'll more than likely only end up buying something more expensive which you should just buy in the first place as this isn't a good enough product for really bad chapped lips. I will continue to use this product for day to day use to keep my lips feeling soft but if they get in worse condition I know to use a different product from a different brand. I have had this product since December now and use it quite often yet the lip balm is still very large and I can see it has a long long way to go therefore is very long lasting which is a perk.
Hope my review helped, thanks for reading.
Whenever I am going on a night out which as a student is quite often I pretty much always go for the dark black smoky eyes look. So as you can imagine I've tried plenty of different eye shadows in the past and I'm always looking for new ones.
I first come across this little pot probably about a year and half ago now, its been a while but I came across this product as at the time I had recently bought a black eyeliner which was great from Bourjois so thought I'd try out there other dark eye make up. Bourjois if you don't already know is a very popular make up brand originally from France but now in the UK which sells for for reasonable prices similar to that of Rimmel, Maybelline and other well known brands. Make up from this brand can be found on the website- http://www.bourjois.co.uk/ or in stores such as Boots and Superdrug.
The little round pot eyeshadow-
As said above this caught my eye partly because I'd used a eyeliner which I loved from Bourjois because it was so dark and thought the other eye make up would be similar. Also I had recently broke so many eyeshadows which were making a mess and had to be thrown so I needed something not as easy to break.
The eyes shadow retails at £6.99 at the moment which may seem expensive for just one colour of eye-shadow but as I go on you will see it is actually worth it in the long run. The eyeshadow comes in about 21 different shades and colours from black to pink to a glittery silver, whatever you want it probably does! If you wish to see the shades you can look on the website which gives pictures of each and every shade they do.
The pot itself-
The eyeshadow comes in a very small pot, in this case a black matted pot (as I bought the intense black shade) depending on what colour/shade you choose your pots main body colour will obviously be that colour. The pot on the top of it has silver writing stating the brand name Bourjois paris and then that colour is intense extrait 10. If you was to chose a colour which wasn't intense the pot would simply state Bourjois paris and then 'depuis 1863'. The pot is very simple and round and is made from plastic but the silver writing almost gives it a more classier look and it certainly doesn't look cheap and cheerful. The pot can be opened by pressing a small silver button which helps to open the lid which then presents you with a small mirror within the lid of the pot so if you wish to do so you could check or even do your eye make up in that small mirror I sometimes find it helps when checking your eye make up is ok. In the main part of the pot is obviously the eyeshadow and a small sponge applicator (however I prefer to use an eye shadow brush as they apply the make up better in my eyes.) Overall the product is stylish and very compact and small so easy to put in your bag and carry around for every day use if you wished to do so.
Applying the intense eye shadow-
When applying the eye shadow as stated above I do use an eye shadow brush rather than the sponge applicator (which I have lost..oops). This eyeshadow states it gives an intense colour, twice as covering from the first stroke and lasts for 16 hours. Does it? Well I personally believe it does last a very very long time and much longer than my other black eye shadows however I can't say I have had it on for 16 hours ever but it wouldn't surprise me if it did last that long. The eye shadow is extremely easy to apply though with this eye shadow as it is black I would perhaps suggest doing your eye make up first in case when applying it goes either wrong or the powder flicks on to your nose/face whilst applying leaving you with black smudges which is a nightmare and sometimes mean restarting your foundation!! But when applying the eye shadow it is extremely dark and a matt yet smooth look I never ever have had such a dark eye shadow with just applying it the once but I love it. I find with this eye shadow you don't have to re apply and re apply to get the colour you wish as I've found I need to in the past with other eye shadows which can be time consuming and annoying. Also this eye shadow even though dark does in fact easily blend with my other eye shadows such as greys and silvers when I am blending it to get the smoky eye look. I always use this dark colour as a base coat then above it and slightly over it use lighter silver colours. Another little tip with this eye shadow.. and probably any other eye shadow shade in this pot.. is if you wet your brush you are applying it with first the eye shadow will become darker and actually stay on and last longer I have found. Not to forget the hairspray to make it stay on, though these don't actually have to be done with this eye shadow which shows how great a quality it is.
An issue you could possibly state about this product is well its only one colour perhaps that's inconvenient for those who use a few colours as I do and sometimes its more convenient they are all on a pallet together for on the go touch ups but this problem is extremely minor and I'd recommend just buying all the colours you need in these pots as they are only small and won't take up too much space in your hand bag. Also they may be a bit pricey but it really is worth it and I've had mine for a year and half now and it doesn't look as if its going down at all so I certainly will not be needing a new one for a long long long time. Also a great advantage to those who always find themselves smashing or breaking eye shadow pots I have to say this little sturdy pot has been great for me I drop it all the time yet neither the mirror or eye shadow has broke unlike most of my others, so that again is a great advantage and makes it worth buying if your sometimes careless like me.
This is a great very dark and intense eye shadow and perfect for those who love really dark eye shadows as it doesn't come off or fade as easy as other ones may do. This may be problematic when removing the make up in some peoples eyes as I feel it is a bit harder to get off than other eye shadows with only using facial wipes but if you give your face a good enough wipe and take the time to take it off you're fine otherwise you may wake up looking a bit like a panda. But I believe this is only a little issue and certainly acceptable when you think how dark and long lasting the eye shadow is when you need it to be most.
I'd certainly recommend this eye shadow in the black intense colour and even in other colours as I believe this is a reliable eye shadow with lots of perks and certainly worth paying a bit extra for.
Thanks for reading my review, hope it helps.
Whilst at university, low on funds and using my mascaras until they literally could not be used anymore I couldn't have been more happy when my sister informed me she had treated me to a few bits of make up from MUA this being one.
Up until probably about a year ago I had no idea what the Make up Academy was like, it was a brand put away in the corner of Superdrug which I just avoided and stuck the obvious brands such as no7 Rimmel and Maybeline which I trusted and found reliable. But then a friend had told me about how cheap yet great MUA products was. But as other make up brands MUA is a brand which sells all make up you could possibly think of and even a great unique nail varnish range too. The only difference being that MUA is a lot cheaper and leaves you feeling guilt free once you've bought the products.
Now back to the mascara my sister bought me.
The mascara comes in a silver metallic shiny tube which you can see yourself in with a small sticker on the roof of the lid stating what colour the mascara is. The product is very basic looking and has black writing on the front of the product saying extreme curl mascara and also has the brands name/logo MUA. The product also claims to 'shape your lashes from root to tip for long lasting curls'. I believe the product is very basic looking and doesn't look expensive however this wouldn't personally bother me but may bother some people maybe, who knows. As expected the lid screws off and then you pull the mascara brush out. The brush has a slight curve to it seen as it is a curling mascara. The fact the brush is curved helps you to cover each and every eyelash which is a great advantage. Also the mascara has a nice smelling scent almost fruity which I believe is again pleasant as in the past I've known mascaras to smell fishy for some bizzare reason which is extremely off putting as I hate the smell of fish.
How much and where from?
As this was a gift I have researched how much the product is retailing for at the moment. The mascara can be bought for the wonderful price of only £2!!!!!!! This is from the brands website ...http://www.muastore.co.uk/index.php/eyes/mascara
However the mascara can also be bought in Superdrug for a similar price.
What is the mascara like?
When applying the mascara as said above I find the curved brush is a great advantage to get the mascara on each and every eyelash. It is a nice smelling mascara which also adds brownie points, as said above again. The mascara is extremely easy to apply and gives a slight curl to your eyelashes but my eyelashes already have a slight curl so I wouldn't recommend buying this mascara just because you think it can curl your lashes as you may be left disappointed. The mascara is quite thin and gives a great day to day look especially for the price I believe you can't expect it to do much more. Though I personally prefer a more dramatic look and dark long eyelashes and feel this mascara doesn't do this as well as other brands such as Maybelline but what can you expect when you are only paying £2? I certainly was happy with this mascara for day to day use and basic make up but certainly wouldn't use it if I was wanting a more 'dolled up' look and would use a different mascara. It all depends on what look you are going for, if you only want to slightly darken your lashes with a little curl then this does the job greatly for only £2. Also I find this mascara is a lot easier to get off than other mascaras with simply using facial wipes. Also I have found with this mascara it has lasted about a month per tube with every day use but this is not as long as other mascaras have lasted me such as Maybelline ones. Also with regards to how long it lasts per day I would just warn you that it doesn't last as long as other mascaras and starts to rub off leaving you looking like you didn't apply it much but does last the majority of the day.
So if you personally don't go for a more dramatic darker look and just use mascara just to darken your lashes a little bit then I believe this mascara is cheap and perfect for you. If your like me and prefer a more dramatic look then maybe its not for you though I would certainly use this mascara again for day to day useage as the price makes it worth it.
Thanks for reading my review, hope it helps.
As a nineteen going on twenty year old I rarely leave the house without at least some make up on. One of the items in my make up bag which is used every single time without fail that I do wear make up is my Rimmel eyebrow pencil, an essential part of my make up bag. I have always had really faint hair on my eyebrows yet in the past dyed my hair a lot darker therefore this was my reasoning for first buying an eyebrow pencil and now I'm not sure I'd want to go a day without it!
I have had various eyebrow pencils due to misplacing them in the past but one I always seem to go back to is this Rimmel professional eyebrow pencil. The first reason I went for a Rimmel eyebrow pencil was due to the fact I believe Rimmel are a reliable brand and due to the fact it was a great price of only £2.99 in Boots which I found was a bargain in comparison to some other brands. This product is also available for similar prices in other stores such as Superdrug and even some large Asda and Tesco stores therefore not too hard to get your hands on if you did wish to do so. The eyebrow pencil also comes in a range of colours meeting the needs of pretty much everyone, it can be bought in a black/brown colour, dark brown or hazel depending on which shade best fits your needs. The product is easy to spot it is simply a pencil which is painted black and in silver writing is the name of the product then Rimmels brand logo then at the very bottom of the pencil is coloured in what shade your pencil is (this is also wrote on the product). The pencil also has a brown lid which has a small eyebrow brush on the side attached to it which is extremely convenient as its a lid for your pencil but at the same time you can tidy up your eyebrows with a slight brush before colouring them. I believe this is an advantage to the product as it is essentially two in one and an eyebrow brush is a small accessory which would be easy to loose otherwise.
Whats it do?
Now this product can be described to enhance and refine the shape of your eyebrows you may just use it to refill gaps or add length to your eyebrows, it is completely up to you what you do with this eyebrow pencil. I personally use the eyebrow pencil for both shape and colour and add length at the ends of my eyebrows as they seem non existent due to my lightly coloured hair. It completes my make up and I would feel a face of make up is not complete if the eyebrows have no colour to them I almost feel Alien like nowadays if I have a face of make up but not eyebrow pencil on.
How does the eyebrow pencil perform?
I personally use the hazel coloured eyebrow pencil as in the past I have used my friends dark brown and wow that is dark therefore if your light haired I suggest going for hazel. I would suggest drawing on your hand in the shop with a sample eyebrow pencil just to make sure your getting the colour you want before buying as you don't want to be disappointed. With the hazel coloured pencil I have found I can either have a very light coloured look by gently applying the pencil on my eyebrow hairs or if I wish to have darker eyebrows I simply apply it with more pressure and harder than usual giving me a darker look. The pencil is very easy to apply and washes off very easily with a facial wipe if you was to apply it wrongly. You may be wondering does the eyebrow pencil last? I personally believe compared to other eyebrow pencils it does last on a day to day basis, it certainly lasts on a night out when dancing around and sweating. Though a trick to ensure it does last is to lightly spray your eyebrows once you've coloured them with hairspray...it always does the trick for me! Another amazing thing about this pencil is it lasts a long time (if you manage not to misplace it) and my pencil is almost the size of the lid and still going strong. I believe it lasts longer than other turn up eyebrow products as it is a pencil which only needs sharpening every now and again and I've not yet experienced the led breaking/snapping.
Would I recommend?
I certainly would! Whether you want a natural look or you want to go for the well known 'scouse brows' not as natural look this product can amazingly do both in my eyes with the right pressure being used when applying it. A nice and cheap, reliable, long lasting pencil along with a eyebrow brush attached, what more could you ask for? A perfect way to spend £2.99 and spice up your make up bag.
The only issue I could possibly pick at is the eyebrow pencil is quite small and easily lost in my make up bag. BUT its the size of any normal eyebrow pencil/eyeliner so that is totally my own fault.
Thanks for reading my review.
Cadburys are always coming up with new tasty ideas and now they present us with there marvellous creations range which consist of the cookie nut crunch and also the jelly popping candy bar which I am going to focus on in this review.
'JELLY POPPING CANDY SHELLS COVERED IN DELICIOUS CADBURY DAIRY MILK'
Back in May in Tesco this chocolate bar straight away caught my eyes. I'm not hugely a chocolate person I prefer a bag of sweets but this little chocolate bar had sweets in it therefore I thought it would be worth a try also with it being cadburys chocolate who are a very reliable and great tasting brand. The chocolate bar mainly stood out to me among all other chocolate bars due to the eye catching colours. The packaging of this chocolate bar is the usual classy purple colour of a Cadburys chocolate bar with the Cadburys logo in the top left corner however what makes it different is the almost circus like presentation with white blocks coming from the square pink box which outlines a smaller cream box this all very bright and making the chocolate bar different to all other cadburys bars. In large purple writing and block letters is 'MARVELLOUS CREATIONS' it really is hard to miss then underneath this writing with a pink background and white writing is 'JELLY POPPING CANDY SHELLS covered in delicious cadbury dairy milk.' Also next to this on the right hand side of the packaging is a picture of the chocolate bar showing the bright coloured candy shells and jelly I literally couldn't resist buying this eye catching chocolate bar.
The back of the chocolate bar presents you with the nutritional information incase you are dieting, the ingredients for those with allergies and even instructions how to open the chocolate bar. There is also options to return the product with an address for the companyy if you are not satisfied, all of these which are clear.
The chocolate bar can be bought either as a small snack bar or a large 200g bar which I personally went for due to it being on offer for £1 whereas the small snack bar price ranges from 45p-70p ish therefore it made sense for me to get more for my money. Usually though the 200g bar is around £1.50 in stores such as Asda and Tesco though prices will be higher in local shops or petrol stations etc so I'd certainly recommend getting yourself to a supermarket for the best deals. Though the chocolate bar as new is available at most stores and supermarkets.
There are a few key ingredients which make this chocolate bar different to all other Cadburys chocolate bars which I believe it is essential to focus on and explain.
When I first bought this chocolate bar the popping candy ingredient was mainly what stood out to me. The popping candy is a not so quiet or subtle ingredient but certainly makes the bar different and can only be described as a strange sensation when trying for the first time. BUT I LOVE IT. The popping candy I believe is spread out across the chocolate bar and you are bound to get some as you would expect with a high quality brand such as Cadburys. The noise is not over powering but I certainly wouldn't recommend eating it in a silent area.
2)Fruit flavour jellies.
I actually, perhaps stupidly, didn't realise the chocolate bar would have fruit flavour jellies in it. This most likely due to the fact I didn't read the back of the packet therefore it came as a slight shock when I come across something chewy in the chocolate bar. These are smallish and very fruity and chewy and colourful and a favorite part of the chocolate bar for me I love coming across these though be careful as they can stick to your teeth which is the only downfall. But these again certainly make the chocolate bar different to any other I have tried.
3)Sugar coated cocoa candies
Again, something I didn't realise as I thought the candy shells would infact have the popping candy in them but this is not the case the small brightly coloured candy shells simply are filled with more chcolate but these help to add crunch to the chocolate bar making it all the more random. The bright colours can be seen throughout the bar when breaking pieces off.
This chocolate bar is not the same of the usual standard blocks of square chocolate you may be used to and is now a more bubbly and random shaped blocks and pieces all with different random textures and patterns although some are just smooth with the cadburys logo I believe all of this helps add to the randomness of the chocolate bar and makes it again more individual. As I mentioned above the brightly coloured shells do stand out again making it look different and perhaps more appealing. As the bar is not shaped as simply in squares you may think pieces would be awkward to break off but do not worry this is not the case and it is still easy to break off without making a mess.
As soon as you open the chocolate bar a beautiful scent meets your nostrils the one of cadburys well known chocolate. I can only describe this as a gorgeous creamy milk chocolate scent which is truely irresistible. Now time for the taste test, once you let this chocolate meet your mouth it starts to melt on your tongue but this chocolate bar is different you must take a bite into it to see what surprises you may get. Will it be the popping candy crackling and popping on your tongue? Will it be the chewy jelly pieces? Or will it be the crunchy candy shells? This is for you to find out!
Get yourself to the shops for this sweet but not sickly random chocolate bar, its unique very different to any other chocolate bar and certainly of great value and quality. Its one of the best chocolate bars I have ever tried.
Thanks for reading.
My sister has always been one for putting together cute hamper gifts for Christmas/birthdays therefore I'm always receiving lots of wonderful pampering gifts. This Christmas I found myself opening a small box filled with confetti paper and a few of the chocomania range pampering products from the body shop. I love the body shop and always find myself smelling all the beautiful products if I go into the store therefore I was chuffed to receive this little pampering package.
One of the gifts within this little pampering package was the Chocomania lip butter and this is what I am going to focus on in this review. The product can be bought either in store or online at www.thebodyshop.co.uk and costs £4 per pot. The lip butter does not only come in the chocolate chocomania flavour but also in sweet lemon, pink grapefruit, mango, shea and coconut therefore the body shop gives a great range of lip butters. The chocomania lip butter is part of a range of other chocomania products such as body butter, soap, body scrub and many more and is most ideal for those chocolate lovers out there.
The product comes in a very small compact pot and is ideal for placing in your pocket, your handbag or even taking it out on a night out in a small clutch bag if you did wish to do so. The pot is a rich dark brown colour with a picture of gorgeous chocolate chunks on the lid with the body shop logo placed over the top of them and in size the product is 10 ml/0.3 OZ/ 8.5g. The product has a screw off lid which I believe is easy to use and stops any inconveniences such as the lid falling off in your bag and ruining your lip butter, which is a nightmare therefore, the lid being one that must be screwed on and off is handy. As soon as you screw off the lid a beautiful rich but sweet chocolate scent meets your nostrils and almost smells edible. The lip butter is a very light brown creamy colour which obviously is good as when applied it does not stain your lips in any way. The product unfortunately does not have information on the pot about the ingredients within the lip butter which I feel is potentially a disadvantage to those who wish to know this for specific reasons as it it only states the pot is recyclable and unfit for consumption which is fairly obvious in my eyes even though it does smell gorgeous.
When applying the product the easiest and most likely way to use this lip butter is by using your fingers, this may not be the most hygienic way but is quick easy and an adaptable way for applying the lip butter on the go. The product is extremely easy to apply just simply dip your finger into the pot and then wipe your finger and the butter onto your lips, be careful not to apply too much as this lip butter is very thick and creamy therefore a small amount goes a long way and you won't need too much to cover your lips. I would recommend not using too much also as then the smell may become sickly as I have felt in the past. The lip butter once applied seems to quickly dissolve into your lips and leaves them feeling soft and also smelling beautiful like chocolate though I would advice not to lick your lips as the product certainly does not taste as good as it smells. I am personally one for biting my lips especially during exams when I am stressed therefore find my lips can sometimes be in quite bad chapped condition but this product really does help to hydrate and also repair my lips making them feel soft again and is one of the best lip products I have ever used. It does not leave your lips feeling sticky unlike other products and really does leave them feeling soft and smooth, the way they should be! Also I have had my pot of this lip butter since December 2012 now which isn't long but I daily use the product and the lip butter has barely gone down and still is as smooth and creamy as when I first opened it therefore this showing the product will last a very long time and is of great quality.
I certainly would recommend this product to anyone with dry lips looking to find a product which actually works, the product is certainly worth the price of £4 which you would be paying for it and will certainly last a long time. The product can be taken anywhere due to the small compact size of it and also smells great. I would certainly recommend this product to any chocoholics and even to those that just like chocolate a little bit, although if chocolate really isn't your thing I would not recommend this flavour of the product but would still recommend you get a lip butter from the body shop yet a different flavour as I guess they have the same effect.
I hope my review has helped.
As a student and a first year student at that I do tend to go out a few times a week and drink alcohol therefore I thought what do I know a lot about and what better could I review than alcohol. Through being 18 a year before University and drinking vodka on nights regularly I have tried various different brands of vodka and it is a drink I prefer to drink especially when I get on my night out.
As a University student socially drinking, playing a few drinking games and getting merry at a party is an essential event which happens before each night out known here as 'pre drinks'. As us students are low on funds this can be used as a time to have a few drinks before you go out so that you do not have to buy drinks on the night out or have to buy as many therefore saving cash. As I have just come to the end of my first year at University and finished my first exams which were highly stressful me and a few of my friends decided to treat ourselves to a more decent type of alcohol with a branded name rather than going for the usual cheap vodka such as Aldis own. As I was planning put an end to freshers by attending a different event/party almost every night for a week I decided to buy a litre of Smirnoffs finest vodka at Asda which at the time was on offer and cost me £18.
ABOUT THE VODKA-
The vodka which is high in percent and is 37.5%vol is a very famous branded vodka which is owned and produced by a British company called Diageo, the brand started off a very long time ago in 1886 in a vodka distillery in Moscow by P.A Smirnoff. The bottle repeatedly explains that it is continuing traditions of P.A Smirnoff and that the vodka is triple distilled and also filtered ten times, these factors showing the vodka is of very high quality. Smirnoff vodka is a very large brand now and in fact is distributed in 130 countries. It is also produced in several countries such as the UK, United States, Italy, Ireland and also India therefore this showing how big a brand Smirnoff has become.
Where can I buy Smirnoff and how much for?
As Smirnoff vodka is a large brand it can be found in most large supermarkets such as Asda and Tesco and most off licences although prices will vary.
1 Litre- £18.00
However these are the current prices in Asda, prices may vary and if you buy the vodka from an off licence the price is likely to be much higher but as you can probably see from the prices above if you are a vodka lover it does pay to buy the bigger bottle as buying numerous smaller bottles would in the long run cost you more money.
Fancy a different flavour?
You may be bored of the taste of original vodka. Smirnoff does allow you to spice things up a little with different flavours such as Lime, Green apple, Vanilla and Blueberry. However for now I am going to focus on Smirnoff red which is the original flavoured vodka.
How can I spot this vodka in store?
Smirnoff vodka comes in a clear glass bottle with a very bold red neck and lid as well as the label having a bold red background and the Smirnoff logo standing out in large white bold capital letters. Under the main logo and lettering there is a badge shape which also has the bold red background and is designed with small images of various badges and a crown which make the bottle have a more classy look about it. This along with writing such as 'Triple Distilled' which also gives a classy look to the bottle as it is in a italics font. All of this making the product different to other vodka bottles and extremely easy to locate within a store which is always a good thing. The lid is very firmly attached and once you are ready to open the bottle you must break a seal by twisting the lid off. Once you have done this the bottle is then very easy to open and close by simply screwing the lid on and off.
The vodka itself-
As Smirnoff vodka is of a high percentage at 37.5%vol, which is average for vodka, and along with the very strong smell you would expect this drink would have an extremely strong taste and perhaps would be hard to drink. The vodka does have a strong/bold kick to it as all vodkas do and yes if you did decide to perhaps shot the drink or drink it straight you would feel that the taste is that of a strong one and it most likely would make you pull a funny face and shudder. But out of all the vodkas I have tried, which trust me is a lot now I am a student, Smirnoff once mixed with some form of mixer is one of the vodkas I believe you can least taste. Obviously there is some taste to the drink as it would be worrying if not but this is not a bad taste and certainly does not taste like petrol like other cheap and nasty brands of vodka sometimes do. But I personally believe the vodka is a smooth tasting vodka and one which is much easier to drink. Although I do have to say vodka is one of those drinks which you either like or dislike as are most alcoholic drinks.
What can I drink the vodka with?
Well you can pretty much try vodka with whatever you like all depending upon what your preferred tastes are. You could mix vodka with fruit juices such as fresh orange juice, cranberry juice, apple juice or you could simply mix it with a fizzy drink any fizzy drink goes however the most popular are lemonade and coke however it really does not matter. A personal favourite of mine is vodka and lemonade with a splash of lime cordial I would certainly recommend trying out that one and the vodka is barely tasteable. Vodka is also a key ingredient to many cocktails for example a few well known ones such as Cosmopolitans and Blue Lagoons and recipes can be easily found on google so you can get making your own cocktails. Vodka really is one of those spirits which can be mixed with most drinks and taste good.
Vodka also is very light upon the stomach and does not feeling you bloated unlike other alcoholic drinks such as alchopops such as WKDs and Vks and beers and ciders therefore it leaves you feeling great and ready to boogie away on the dance floor without feeling self conscience that you are bloated. Another great point about Smirnoff vodka as a brand as the hangovers I receive from drinking it the night before are no where near as bad as cheap and nasty brands of vodka which leave me feeling as though my head is being smacked with a hammer therefore this is another reason to buy Smirnoff vodka over other vodkas. Obviously there are other more expensive brands of vodka however I feel Smirnoff is a reliable brand and also a reasonable price for what you get. Yes it may make you feel as though your the worlds best dancer and make you feel everybody is your new best friend and may even do a few things you regret the next morning but what vodka doesn't make you that way? In fact what alcohol doesn't make you that way?
Smirnoff may seem a bit pricey to students such as myself but if you have the money and can afford it I can certainly say its a must have and worth it, it is a great vodka as proved by how popular and large the brand actually is.
Thumbs up from me when I can afford it!!
Thank you for reading my review and I hope its helped.
In September I moved to Nottingham to start my law degree at Nottingham Trent University before this I had no idea about Ocean and to be honest I probably would have frowned upon it and the thought of entering it if I drove past. Within my freshers week we had fresher reps these being second and third years who basically look after you, keep you safe, and show you where to go out in Nottingham. The last night in freshers our fresher bus (hired out by the university for each night of the week) pulled up across the road from Ocean. As our halls were one of the last to be taken to the club that night we arrived to the biggest queue I'd ever seen for a club and this is where the Ocean devotion first started.
ABOUT THE OCEAN
Ocean can be found at Greyfriar Gate, Nottingham NG1 7EF and is a short walk from the other bars/clubs within the centre of town and also is a five minute walk away from the train station and is surrounded by many hotels. All bars in Nottingham are very close and the majority are within walking distance.
Ocean nightclub does have a website-http://www.iloveocean.co.uk/
Also the club has a Facebook page which you can like to find information on the club. -https://www.facebook.com/oceannottingham?fref=ts
Ocean nightclub is a place to take a 'dip in the ocean' a place to 'drown' and basically one of the best nights out in Nottingham I believe. There is such a range of music which keeps you dancing all night ranging from One direction to Beyonce to take that to Jay Z & Kanye and many more not to forget the Baywatch theme tune which I will explain later.
Ocean from the outside is certainly not the most appealing club, even inside it isn't exactly a classy London club but that is what makes it so much more fun. Inside the club very big with a huge centre dance floor what we refer to as 'the ocean' and where we tend to 'take a dip'. Around the dance floor on the ground floor are large walk ways with seating areas and the males toilets and there is 3 separate bars on the ground floor all a large size with lots of staff. Also on the ground floor there is a separate room (which opens on a Saturday night) which also has a separate smaller bar. The ground floor also has an exit into a smokers area at the back of the club this however is quite small and usually very crowded. However if you are to go upstairs in Ocean there is more seating areas and the woman's toilets. The women's toilets are large and have facilities also to wash your hands and lots of mirrors to re do your make up though these toilets are always extremely busy as the club is so it is advised to go to the toilet early and not leave it to the last minute. Also there is two more bars and a smaller dance floor area next to one of the bars. The upstairs area of Ocean has balconies to look over onto the crowds of dancing students and also has students dancing around the upstairs area too as the club is always packed, especially on a Wednesday. The only negative thing I have to say about Ocean is the smell which most people criticise it on there can be a pungent smell usually around the male toilets and also because of the carpet soaked in alcohol (which it is a bit silly to have a carpet in a club) but I can honestly say after a few drinks that smell does not matter at all and even being sober in Ocean it is bareable and certainly is not a reason to decide against going to the club.
Ocean nightclub is a 100% student nightclub. However if you go on a Saturday you are able to take non student guests which is one per student I think. With the club being in Nottingham there is two huge rivalry universities these being my university Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham however I am obviously going to argue that Ocean is mainly Trent territory as we know how to party better and also it is an ex Trent student who owns the club. However the club is shared between the two throughout the week. Wednesdays belong to Trent and is the official Trent uni clubs and societies night Trent also have Saturday nights. However on Fridays the club hosts the affiliated night for the University of Nottingham I shall now explain these nights with more detail.
WEDNESDAYS AT OCEAN
As stated above this is the official Trent University sports clubs and societies night which has been held at Ocean for 15 years now and is certainly the only place for a Trent student to be on a Wednesday night, 9am lecture on Thursday or not. Trent sports teams and societies each are given ticket booklets on Wednesday by the Nottingham Trent Students Union where certain members on each committee of the team/society sell tickets these costing £3.50 for each student and ensure entry into the busiest club on a Wednesday night and also potentially quicker entry as they queue separately to students without tickets for the night. Any profit from the tickets sold also go back into the club or society. However there is one huge detail I am missing out and that is that Wednesdays at Ocean are FANCY DRESS which makes it so much more fun. Each sports team/society every week will come up with a fancy dress theme which the full team/society then will head to luvyababes (fancy dress shop) and get an outfit for. Fancy dress is huge at Trent and you find people in all sorts of fancy dress from the standard army gear for Trent Army to chavs/goths to smurfs you can never guess what you will see on a Wednesday night as Trent students seriously do go all out. If you are in a sports team/society you will start your Wednesday night of at a house drinking usually starting around half 6 then onto a bar crawl before finally making it to the Ocean (if you do) at about 11-12pm usually with someone elses fancy dress, as you can probably tell the bar crawl is usually the reason no one has dignity once in the ocean. However if you do not wish to join a sport/society then you can buy tickets from the SU shop yourself for a price of £3.50 or simply pay on the door when you get to Ocean on the night however this is dearer and costs £5 to get in and your not guaranteed entry so it is advised on a normal night to go around 11pm ish as the club opens at 10pm. Although if it is the last day of term it is recommended to queue a lot earlier if you are without ticket for example last week we queued at 7pm for the club which then opened for us at half past 9 showing how much Ocean Wednesdays mean to Trent students. The key thing to remember about an Ocean Wednesday is to try not to drown and to always always wear fancy dress or you will be the only person not in fancy dress. Wednesdays at Ocean are very strict and often if students are too drunk they are in fact turned away which has happened to a few of my friends in the past also Ocean bouncers are strict and you must be a student with a valid student card and form of ID (obviously 18 and over) otherwise you will be refused from the club in the past I have known people who have been refused because they do not have there student card on them at the time therefore you must remember it!! Drinks are relatively cheap (though us students will argue they are not) fake jagerbombs can be bought for £2 and shots of vodka/tequila/sambuca cost £1.50 which is what most of me and my friends go for. The ocean on a Wednesday is a must go as a trent student with students devoting themselves to the club every single Wednesday. Nothing matters once you are within the Ocean and not to forget that it is the only club I have ever seen hundreds of students swinging there tops and t-shirts around there heads to the theme tune of Baywatch. This is certainly my favourite place to go even if I sometimes do not fully remember the nights and is a famous night around Trent. If you are a student I would certainly recommend you try an Ocean Wednesday out.
OCEAN SATURDAYS- CLIMAX
Ocean Saturdays again belong to Trent, however you do get some university of Nottingham students also but it is mainly dominated by Trent students. Climax is the exact same as above minus the fancy dress. Tickets for climax can be bought online on the Nottingham Trent Students Union website if you are a student at Nottingham Trent-http://www.trentstudents.org/ where you can buy four tickets per student. Tickets are £3-4 pounds and again if you wish to pay on the door it is £5 entry. The differences are the fact there is no fancy dress themes, though if you wish to do so you can wear fancy dress and also the fact there is often a side room open which consists of silent discos where the club provides you with headphones to dance away with. You can literally wear whatever you wish to do so at an Ocean Saturday at Climax you could wear fancy dress if you wish to do so, you could get dressed up with your little black dress and heels or a shirt and tie or you can simply wear your casual going out clothes e.g shorts and a top and your trainers its totally up to you. Though watch out climax has a sneaky photographer snapping you up all night which the pictures are then put onto the Students Union facebook page. Again this is a great night and very popular with students however isn't as popular as Wednesdays.
OCEAN FRIDAYS- THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM
On Fridays Ocean hosts the official night for the University of Nottingham students which has been around for now 10 years. I personally have never attended Ocean on a Friday night as I am a keen Trent student however I am sure it is similar to above and more similar to Trents night on a Saturday. This is a very popular night with the University of Nottingham with high reviews from fellow friends however I will argue us Trent students party better.
OCEANS HOT DOG/JACKET POTATO VAN
If your feeling peckish after your dip in the Ocean the car park has its very own burger/jacket potato van. I often go to this van for a hot dog which costs me £2 and burgers are around the same price. The only disadvantage I could possibly say about this van is it doesn't sell chips one thing you see a lot of drunk people asking for! However it does save you walking through Nottingham to find a takeaway which can be extremely dangerous and is a quick and also cheap service.
Once you leave the nightclub there is taxis parked at either side of the club, most of which are respectable firms which is great when you just want to hop in a taxi and get home. However it is recommended you ring your own taxi from a firm you know for safety reasons or a firm I would advise getting is Nottingham Cabs who have a contract with the university and are extremely cheap and safe.
All I can say is I LOVE OCEAN. It is somewhere I would certainly recommend to any students or friends of students on a Saturday night. It is the craziest night out I have had an is certainly a way to let your hair down and not have a care in the world even if you will regret it when your hungover in a lecture the next morning, it is so worth it. The music is great, the drinks are cheap and the venue is large and fun what else could you possibly wish for?
To remove my make up I have always used cleansing wipes, I find if I use other products such as face scrubs/washes they make my skin worse and bring out my spots therefore I have tried a lot of different brands of facial wipes. Last September becoming a student at University without my mother buying my facial wipes I have resorted to buying the cheapest possible, a somewhat risky game at times.
About the product-
T-zone was a brand I personally had never heard of yet the price of the product drew me towards it. The product was at an amazing price of 59p for a packet of 25 cleansing wipes which I couldn't resist with when the other cleansing wipes were £1 and over (every penny counts as a student). I bought the product from B&M bargains a store which sells branded products at a much lower price, I have also seen the wipes in Poundland for a similar price. This is an extremely low price to be paying for facial wipes and I believe it to be a great deal when you compare to prices of other facial wipes.
The facial wipes are in a mint green squishy packaging and is the standard size of most facial wipe packaging which is a reasonable small size. The seal on the packaging to get the facial wipes out is very reliable as it sticks down easily which then means there is no chance of the facial wipes drying out and me then having to throw them which has unfortunately happened in the past with other facial wipes. Also on the reserve of the packaging the product states instructions how to use the facial wipes and a caution to avoid delicate areas such as the eyes as well as stating the ingredients within the products so if you was knowingly allergic to anything you could check easily if it was in the product before buying. The product also states on the back what they have been formulated for and this is to 1)Effectively remove the excess oil, grease and bacteria that can cause spots 2)Reduce shine 3)Cleanse, tone and protect in one, leaving great looking skin 4)Remove make-up instantly 5)Guard against over-dry skin.
You may be now asking does the product do as it states? Could it possibly do all those things for such a small price?
When I first used the wipes I realised they were extremely moist in comparison to others I had used, which I preferred as I felt they really did take all of my make up off with only one facial wipe and I did not feel the need to then wash my face after or use another facial wipe. Therefore they do remove the make up instantly. Also the facial wipes did not leave me feeling my pores were clogged up or that I had a sticky face they left me feeling fresh and clean which they do claim to do within getting rid of excess oil and grease and bacteria and they left my face feeling soft and spot free as I have not gained any spots since I have been using the wipes. For such a cheap price you may expect the facial wipes to be flimsy and perhaps fall to pieces whilst using however this certainly is not the case and they are of a good quality. However the wipes state that they guard against over-dry skin this I believe they do not do as I suffer from an area of dry skin on my nose which certainly has not improved from using the facial wipes but for such a cheap price what can you expect! A huge misleading factor about these wipes is that they are 'shine control' wipes I believe this also has not been done effectively but yet again what can you expect for paying such a small price. Another disadvantage to these wipes I'm afraid is the smell which is a strong scent of tea tree which I personally do not enjoy the smell of however it is bareable for the short amount of time it takes to remove my make up.
I would only recommend people buying these facial wipes if you need a low price facial wipe which does a good job of removing your make up and leaves your face feeling clean and soft, these facial wipes do a wonderful job for the price you would be paying. However if you are looking at buying these facial wipes because they state they are shine control wipes or because you have dry skin I would hugely recommend you do not bother as they do not do this and you may need a more expensive product for this. However they are a great basic facial wipe if you simply want to take your make up off for a cheap price. I will continue to buy these facial wipes whilst low on funds at University as they do a good enough job for me.
Thank you for reading my review, I hope it helps.
