      Absolutely delicious to feed the family or friends

      Here is my favourite incredibly simple curry recipe!! It is made by Jamie Oliver as part of his Pass It On Challenge last year. I have made this for around 20 people at different times and every single one has thoroughly enjoyed it - Bon Apetit!!

      Serves 2

      **Ingredients**

      2 naan breads
      1 fresh red chilli
      ½ a cucumber
      1 lemon
      1 lemon
      4 tablespoons natural yoghurt
      Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
      A few sprigs of fresh coriander
      2 x 200g salmon fillets, skin on
      Scaled and bones removed
      1 heaped tablespoon Patak's tandoori curry paste
      Olive oil

      **Recipe**

      1. Preheat your oven to 110°C/225°F/gas¼.
      2. Pop your naan breads into the oven to warm through.
      3. Halve, deseed and finely chop your chilli.
      4. Peel and halve your cucumber lengthways, then use a spoon to scoop out and discard the seeds.
      5. Roughly chop the cucumber and put most of it into a bowl.
      6. Halve your lemon and squeeze the juice from one half into the bowl.
      7. Add the yoghurt, a pinch of salt and pepper and half the chopped chilli.
      8. Pick the coriander leaves and put to one side.
      9. Slice each salmon fillet across lengthways into three 1.5cm wide slices and use a pastry brush or the back of a spoon to smear the tandoori paste all over each piece.
      10. Heat a large frying pan over a high heat.
      11. Once hot, add a lug of olive oil, put the salmon into the pan and cook for about 1½ minutes on each side, until cooked through.

      **Serving**

      1. Place a warmed naan bread on each plate.
      2. Top each one with a good dollop of cucumber yoghurt and 3 pieces of salmon.
      3. Scatter over a little of the reserved cucumber, chilli and coriander leaves and finish with a squeeze of lemon juice.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Good background TV

          Wife Swap is regularly shown on Channel 4 and E4. This is yet another Channel 4 series which has been dragged out as long as possible!

          The premise of the show is simple - 2 families swap fives for 1 week living half the week with the families rules before each wife changes the rules and makes the family live the way they run their household for the remainder of the week.

          If you are a hard working family with one kid and OCD expect to be swapped with a family with 6 kids who are on benefits and have 3 dogs which poo all round the house - this is not an exaggeration. Why any of these families choose to particiapte in the series is completely beyond me!!

          Celebrities also appear in the show including Bruce Jones (Les Batterley from Corrie), Vanessa Feltz, singer Sinitta, Charles Ingram and Paul Daniels - not exactly A list celebrities - in fact almost all Z list who will do anything for a pay cheque so long as it means they are on TV.

          Much as you can criticise the show - it does make for compelling viewing! You can guarantee lots of arguments between the new "wife" and husband!!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Good the first few seasons, gone to room 101 now!!

          You know summer has hit with the beginning of BB to our TV screens!! We are now on the 10 the series of the programme and as an avid viewer of the series since the first ever episode all those years ago it is safe to say that BB has clearly gone down the pan in recent years!!

          The first series included contestants who included lawyers and was truly a social experiment. Now we have series which last over 3 months and there are tasks for the housemates to compete in daily. This shows how much BB has had to try and drum up some sort of drama in the show!

          The contestants are all hungry for fame - no make that ravenous!! Many London nightclubs have now instigated a blanket ban on former BB housemates as these people are really some of the lowest and trashiest people in the UK!

          I also feel that after the Jade Goody "incident" a couple of years ago - BB has become far too concerned with not offending viewers and beingh politically correct!! This can be seen in tonight's episode where contestant Marcus was reprimanded for imitating an Indian accent - lets be honest the same would not have happened if he had impersonated a Brummie, Scot or Geordie.

          I have only seen a couple of episodes of series 10 as I think BB is really scrapping the barrel this year! This is no longer must see TV and is reflected in the viewing figures which are almost only 10% of the ratings they got back in their heyday!

          The only way I believe BB can now have a successful series is to reunite all the winners - most would probably be up for it too as who really remembers winners such as Cameron, Nadia and Anthoney?

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            In last year this has really gone downhill

            Hollyoaks is in the top 4 UK soaps - however it clearly comes in at 4th position. It is aimed at teens - mid 20s. A year ago the soap was one of the best shows on TV with the Niall McQueen storyline. Now however, the soap is a former shadow of itself. The storylines are weak and focus too much on the kids in the soap.

            Some of the lines are funny admittedly but in general the programme has gone downhill since the departure of key characters such as Max and OB. The acting is rather poor in the show now compared to past characters such as Clare. You can also tune out for a few weeks and nothing will really have changed. Storylines such as the one with Ste's baby have dragged on for months now and viewers are no clearer as to whether Amy will ever return and if his mad friends are going to kidnap the baby or not.

            Sorry Hollyoaks but unless you come up with stronger storylines that don't play out for so long you are never going to be up there with Coronation Street!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              A great product for touching up your skin

              I have very pale skin (basically pure white) and it is really difficult to find any foundations or concealers that work on my skin without me looking orange or my face being darker than the rest of me.
              I have tried a few different brands but the last couple years I have been a complete convert to Max Factor. I find the Ivory shade works best for me and is a fantastic match for my skin colour.

              I have quite good skin and only need a little bit of cover-up on the occasional spot. I cannot use foundation on the whole of my face as I am allergic to fragrances found in most make-up. Instead I just use a little cover up where it's needed and this product is fantastic for this!
              It is packaged in a small pen, which you twist the bottom to release some of the product out of. On your first use you will have to twist loads of times before any concealer comes out.
              The applicator is a small, firm, slanted sponge tip with a hole in the centre. You can apply it directly to the skin using the applicator before rubbing it into your skin using your fingertips. The product is very easy to apply although you do not get much in a tube. I seem to get through it quite quickly for all that I use it.
              This product can be found in Boots stores for around £8 although you often get good deals on Max Factor and you can get it cheaper.

              Delicious snack

              I'm not a huge crisp fan but I love a pack of BBQ flavour Hula Hoops. Hula Hoops take me right back to my childhood where you would put one on each finger before crunching them all off!!

              Available in a variety of flavours, each flavour is strong tasting and you can identify the flavours very clearly. As previously mentioned, my personal fave are BBQ although the originals are great too without being too salty! Hula Hoops are a British snack by KP Snacks, famous for KP peanuts.

              The only problem with Hula Hoops is that if you bite down on the rim they can be quite hard. It's probably best therefore to eat them one by one rather than flinging a whole pile into your mouth at once.

              A bag of Hula Hoops weighs in at 34g with 175 calories per pack and 9.7g of fat. For this reason they are by no means the healthiest snack but they are fantastic as a little treat every so often. Bon appetit!

              Won't be returning!

              I shop at Morrisons regularly however this past weekend I had an experience that means I (and 3 friends who were also there) will not be returning.

              Two of my friends, my partner and I were heading down south to a hotel for the weekend for a friend's wedding. We decided to stop at Morrison's to pick up some food, cups and alcohol to have while we were staying at the hotel. We loaded up the till with everything and our friends went to get the car so we wouldn't have to carry it to the shopping centre a 10 minute walk away. I'd like to add they said they were doing this in front of the cashier who was about to begin scanning our goods through.

              After they left the cashier asked me and my partner for ID. We both produced valid driver's licences. She then said she would not serve us without seeing their IDs. We are all in our mid 20s and nobody looks underage and the couple that had left certainly do not look under 25 which is Morrison's policy.

              As our friends had left to get the car we couldn't get them to come back, especially as we were all already running late.

              I understand that Morrison's operate a Challenge 25 policy but the cashier should have asked our friends for ID before they left if she was not going to serve us without having see their ID. I am really disappointed in Morrison's - their staff are the true reflection of their store and with staff like these we will not be returning again!!

              As we could not get our friends back we left everything at the checkout and left the store. We went to Tesco and got everything we needed - and it was also cheaper there!! Plus nobody got ID'd!

              I would like to contact Morrison's to complain but I cannot find an email address for them on their website if anyone can help me with this, thanks!

                A fantastic lip care which is cheap and easy to apply

                For the last few years I have suffered from eczema and the skin on my lips is the driest of all. I have allergies to fragrances which are found in almost all cosmetics. I need a really strong lip care that therefore does not contain any fragrances and can really deal with dry skin.

                Having tried about 10 different lip balms including Vaseline and Carmex, I eventually turned to Johnson's lip care. This was the only one that worked!!! It can be difficult to find in stores so when I do find it I stock up. I have found it in Boots and Tesco although it is often sold out. I have had to purchase it online and get it shipped from Greece before as this is honestly the only thing I can find that will work for me!

                The lip care comes in a lipstick style packaging making it very easy to apply. It smells of white chocolate but it doesn't really taste of anything which is great as you won't be licking it off!!

                Disadvantages

                Good for having on in the background

                I have been an avid viewer of America's Next Top Model for the last few years and have also been tuning into the Australian version. This season I have tuned into Britain's version.

                I definately do not enjoy this series as much as the American version which is hosted by Tyra Banks. You feel Tyra truly gives a real opinion on each of the girls. Lisa Snowdon hosts the British version. First off - she herself is not a supermodel like Tyra was. Secondly - she is always overly nice to the contestants. Modelling is one of the toughest industries particulalrly for bitching and competitiveness and I feel it is unfair to the girls to pamper them so much in the competition.

                The contestants are the usual type - bitchy girls, one with something different about her (from Hungary) and the nice but boring girl. I hate Sophie and pray she does not win. Not only is she 2faced and a complete cow but her look is not particulalry strong and is comparable to the previous winner of this series - who herself has not become much of a Top Model.

                If you fancy some trashy Monday night TV watching though - tune into Living TV Mondays at 9pm

                  They sell a great variety of evening wear

                  Having been invited to 6 weddings this year, I was in desperate need of some new dresses!! Having tried to find something appropriate without spending a fortune (and failing miserably) I decided to hit Monsoon. They had a fabulous selection and I found 7 truly beautiful dresses to try on without much effort.

                  One of the dresses was a little short for a wedding but would be great for a party. The other 4 however, were stunning and looked great on. The cut of Monsoon dresses is great and flattering for every figure.

                  The only drawback if the price! My selection ranged from £110-180. I eventually purchased one and am now waiting to buy 2 more in the sale which the assistant formed me was in mid July.

                  Although Monsoon 's dresses are a little bit on the pricy side the quality is definitely worth paying a bit more for. I think their day clothing, however, is very expensive and over-priced when you could buy similar quality clothes for much cheaper elsewhere.

                  I would also like to comment on how friendly and helpful I have always found their staff!

                    LV is a fantastic purchase

                    Louis Vuitton, part of the LVMH group, is without a doubt the most famous handbag and luggage retailer in the world and with good reason. The proud owner of 2 of their bags, I can safely state in full confidence that the brand lives up to everything you will hope to get from your bag.

                    I own a brown monogram small bag which I got in 2005 and the beautiful denim LV in the above picture which was bought for me in 2007. Most people I know were horrified I had spent £350 on a handbag however, when they saw the quality of the bag they said it was certainly justified!!

                    Each bag comes in a cloth bag which you should store your LV bag in to protect it from any damage. You will also receive proof that your bag is an authentic LV and your purchase will come in a thick carrier bag which is brown with Louis Vuitton written across it. The carriers alone sell for around £20 on ebay.

                    Louis Vuitton bags are an expensive purchase but their quality is well worth the cost. So long as you look after your bag it will continue to have a high resale value - should you ever decide you wish to part from your beloved Louis!!

                      Get the train if you can!

                      I've been riding megabus for 5 years as I was a student from Inverness studying in Glasgow.

                      Megabus is not exactly a pleasurable experience and any time I can get a cheap train I will certainly choose this over the bus!!

                      A megabus return journey between these 2 cities can cost £2 but only if you get the first seat on each leg. On average I would say it costs around £15 with a 50p booking fee. You can book via the website or by calling their hotline (although I have never tried this option).

                      The bus is full of OAPs who get free travel and students. The bus is notorious for being late and breaking down. The journey which should take 3hours 40 minutes has taken me up to 9 hours before - not a happy experience. This was due to a combination of factors - the bus being late, the replacement then breaking down and then the connection in Perth leaving with out the Inverness passengers.

                      Megabus is an ok option if you can get on for cheap. I wouldn't recommend travelling on it for too long such as the Inverness - London journey as the seats are rather crammed and the air conditioning rarely works. If you can get a cheap deal on the train - certainly take the train!!!

                      Advantages

                      Disadvantages

                      A light chocolate treat

                      Malteasers - the sponsor of Loos women with their slogan "you'll need new ways to be naughty".

                      This chocolate treat is great for when you want to indulge in some chocolate but ur counting calories. The regular sized pack (37g) contains 190 calories.

                      Back in 1936, Forrest E Mars created the light and airy bubbles we still know today as Maltesers®. They were so bubbly brilliant that the Mars family business are still making them in the same factory in Slough today, over 70 years later!

                      Each malteaser is a small ball made of honeycomb toffee coated with milk chocolate. They don't tend to be most people's favourite chocolate but I don't know anyone who really hates them so they are quite a safe gift to give - especially their 400g boxes. The honeycomb filling makes them very light so you don't feel too naughty munching your way through a bag of these!!

                      Jamie Oliver has a delicious cheesecake recipe to make with Malteasers which I have included below.

                      Cheescake (by Jamie Oliver)
                      Ingredients
                      * 200 g Maltesers
                      * 250 g Shortbread cookies (Butterkekse)
                      * 150 g Butter
                      * 500 ml Sour cream
                      * 600 g Cream cheese (like Philadelphia)
                      * 170 g Sugar
                      * 4 Eggs
                      * Lemon zest of 1 lemon
                      * Vanilla (I used 2 tablespoons of vanilla sugar)
                      * 1 Bar of chocolate
                      Method
                      1. Line a normal sized spring form baking pan with baking paper (makes it easier to take it out in the end).
                      2. Crumble the cookies and the Maltesers and mix them with melted butter. Press the mixture into the spring form.
                      3. Mix sour cream, cream cheese, egg yolks, sugar, lemon zest and vanilla.
                      4. Whisk stiff the egg white and add to this mixture.
                      5. Fill on took of the cookie mixture.
                      6. Break the bar of chocolate into pieces and spread it over the cake (gently pushing them in).
                      7. Bake in the preheated oven at 170 degree Celsius for about 60 minutes.
