I have recently replaced my old Gigabyte BX2000 motherboard with the Abit KG7-Raid. I was after performance and darned out outright speed, and I am so glad I choose this board. It can nicely packed with a very good manual and two UDMA 100 cables, an extra long floppy cable, USB header (for the extra two USB ports, it has four) and the drivers CD. It was very easy to install but as it was wider than my existing board I had to buy a full tower case, as the CD copier wouldn’t fit, as it hit the DDR ram. The reason I choose this board was its 4 DDR slots and its 6 PCI slots and none of those AMR/CNR slots that nobody uses. I have read that these boards have compatibility problems, Pha what a load of cobblers, touch would I didn’t get any. I am running a SoundBlaster Live Value, a Modular Technology 56K modem, Genius GFX 100II LAN and Abit Geforce 3. No problems at all. I have bought 2x256MB DDR Crucial Sticks that are registered and ECC and also purchased a Enermax 350W PSU with 8 connectors and two floppy and two fans. Overall the motherboard was an excellent choice and it is slightly more expensive that others but hey you want the best buy the best don’t skimp, you’ll just end up spending more. Setup was easy and the manual explains the BIOS very well and it was dead easy to get running. Only one jumper to set, the clear CMOS one, never used it yet. Excellent board, excellent performance.
I bought the Karcher Pressure Washer Model : 520M from Halfords, I used it to remove all the dirt from the Patio. Wow what a difference, it is white again. Once you have started you cannot stop, concrete paths, cars, douvble glazing, bikes, rugs, guttering and barge boards. I am knackerd, but it so easy. Out of the box, plug in the hose, plug it into the mains, using a suitable extension lead as the lead they supply is about 8 metres long. The hose to the gun is 7.5 metres long which is enough to keep the machine dry while you wash everything you own. You need a RCA mains breaker just in case. I purchased the Chemicals for it today, to do the windows and now I have white double glazing instead of cream coloured ones. The chemicals were in 5 litre bottle for £8.90 which can be diluted for dirt that is not ground in. Also supplied is a brush for everything else, I have never used yet but will let you know when I do, as the lance seems to remove everything anyway. The machine has wheels and a handle to wheel it round, as it is quite heavy (17.5 Kgs). The chemicals are fed in through a hose which on sucks on the low pressure. So you put on the chemical with low pressure then blast it off with the high pressure. The Gun is light weight and it is held up by the force of the water. I highly reccommend one of these, it cleans everything, but makes everything including you dirty. I was absolutely covered in dirt. I managed to cover the front door in dirt off the path, I covered clothes on the washine line in dirt (mother not happy!), but she realised how clean her patio was and I got away with it. It is quite noisy so not recommended for use at night. If you dont have one you dont know what you are missing. Go buy one. It is so easy. I used the brush to clean the cars. It was very good, as you can change the nozzle type while it is turned on. The brush sucks up the deteregent and is soft enough to be used on all the body work of your car. Then
cnahge to the lance and blow off all the dislodged dirt and remove the soap. Still Excellent product.
I bought this printer about 6 months ago and I have been impressed with its printing qulaity. It has 1200x1200dpi and takes 4 cartridges, black, cyan, magenta, yellow. Which means that you only need to replace the cartridges as required. I have printed on 80g/100g and glossy paper, which provided great results. I recently printed my third year university project that was 126 pages long with a couple of colour pictures at best quality and it only took 45 minutes, which I think is quite fast. Problems : Drivers with Windows Me, oh my god.... These must be the worst written drivers in the world for installation, i have had soooooooooo many problems (USB that is the normal parallel ones worked first time. I actually had to edit the registry before I could get the printer work. So unless you know alot about windows I don't recommend you buy this printer. Overall, after spending hours trying to get it working with the USB installation. I rate this printer very good, a glossy photo on full A4 only takes a couple of minutes to print. And the quality gets framed on my mum's lounge wall. Younger sisters school photos, hehehe scan and print. Saves buying them. The colours are clear and sharp, though a good paint package helps to clean the dust from them first, which is picked up by my scanner. Whoever invented the swifter for cleaning dust of scanners is very clever. Otherwise, excellent printer but beware I purchased it for £100, only to find it cheaper 2 months later for £50.
I have purchased from dabs on a couple of occasions now, and on both times I have been very impressed with their customers service department. The first time, I purchased an ATI Rage fury Pro with ViVo, this arrived with in two days. I even e-mailed them a couple of days before to ask if it was the OEM or retail version, they replied the next day with the answer I required. The second purchase was from there B grade stock (the little B's next to the prices). This was a D-Link 4 port USB Hub. I phoned up at 10:00am spoke to an operator and at 8:00am the next day it had been delivered. WOW. Need I say more. Ok the delivery the website by selling the goods isn't great but all you have to do is search for the item you want then refine the results. It's not that hard. Definetly purchase agian.
I bought this modem at a computer fair, it looked like quite a good hardware modem for quite a low price, it was a 56K v.90. I got it home unwrapped the packaging and the first thing I noticed was that it was different to the one on the box. Not too bothered they do modify device after release. I tried to put it into my computer and another problem arose the metal piece that fixes it into the PCI slot was too short. So I remidied this with pliers and bent it out of the way. Good but it is lose so care needs to be taken when plugging in the cable. I then turned my computer on and it was detected fine. I then tried to install the drivers from the CD and none of the drivers were supported by the modem. Looked on the internet and found the driver and then tried to install them they weren't recognised but I used them any way. After all this the modem works fine with the non-recommended drivers. It is fast compaired to my older external 56K modem. I can generally log on at 44Kbps which is good but it will log on at 45Kbps too. I have also found that if you get a slow log on rate try plugging out all your telephones. With them all plugged in I get between 26Kbps to 38Kbps no higher. So thats a tip for you. I was very suprised that this actually occured. All in all a very good modem for its price, just a small amount of hassle installing it.
Our Family have owned Max our Alsation or German Shepard, which ever you prefer for just over a year now. We used to own one about 10 years ago and finally decided to get another one. They are great dogs to own. He loves to play especially football and ours is a not bad keeper. He loves to go for walkies as its called in our house, which drives him wild he just can't wait to get out of the house. The only problems we have had is that they can suffer in the legs they can have problems with the cartilidge in his legs but after a few injections at the vets he is fine now, you also have to make sur the hips have been checked too. Ours is a pedigree and the seller had the parents and grandparents(always a good sign) also all the certificates of pedigree and a family tree. They are quite expensive to keep as they eat loads. They are very socialable dogs and hate being left on there own for any period of time. He always goes wild when you get home again, wagging of the tail e.t.c. Only time he barks is at the postie, don't no why, he just does. Terrible at pulling you for a walk though, and loves to chase a cat if he see's one. He can also chase birds in the field for hours and sits in the back garden watching aeroplanes go bye. All in all only get an Alsatian if you have lots of time to socialise with it and get it lots of attention. They are not to be negelected as they can get too wild. Apart from that he misses me when I go to Uni. Poor devil sits on my bed.
I sm Glad I have two computers and a university computer lab, otherwise Windows Millennium would have been an absolute nightmare. I upgraded to Windows ME recently and god does it need drivers for every piece of hardware I have got. Graphics card, scanner, soundcard, CD-RW, Modem, can you list anymore? I am very pleased with its performance and the suplly of drivers from manufacturers have been very good but without having access to another computer to get the required drivers as the modem driver would not work I would have been very stuck. I overheard the Dixons salesman say that 99% of the scanners in there would work with Millennium, yeah right. Don't believe it. I have had to get drivers for every bit of hardware I have got. After that though Millennium has some great new features : Better Media Player? Not sure about that. Internet Explorer 5.5 - Much better. Windows 2000 shutdown commands - great. It loads faster than Windows 98. You can customise the start menu more. Get rid of that annoying log off command. Overall, a much better OS yet the driver thing will soon solve itself over time to all ME drivers supplied with stuff you buy.
Diagnosis Murder is a television programme about a doctor Dick Van Dyke and his son Barry Van Dyke, who is a cop. The doctor solves all the murders and his son just changes his hair colour every so often and arrests people. The storyline to these programmes are excellent and it just gets you ingrosed in the programme right from the start you even tune in to watch the concluding part of a two parter. Being a student I watch Diagnosis Murder vigerously in the afternoons. The only problem is that the BBC seem to keep removing it and replacing it with more boring afternoon shows. I would recommend that this is to be watched when ever possible as it is great. The only problem is that it is never on all the time it seems to be monday/tuesday at the moment. Anyway brilliant program.
I bought this game quite a while ago nearly a year. It has to be one of the better racing games on the N64. The levels are hard but after a few goes and you find the shortcuts they get easier. The graphics is clear and precise and the game does give a good feel of speed. The bonus nitros give you a real boost of speed. The bonuses and extras are thrown all over the levels. The multiplayer is where the game is let down. It is good but I have only played it with two players more might be more entertaining. I hear there is a cheat for the game to open up the cars as you can progress up the levels to get faster and more multicoloured beetles. Overall I would recommend to buy at a second hand price.
I have played and played this game until my fingers hurt. I think that it has got great playablity, yet it still retains a certain amount of difficulty. Rogue Squadrons graphics are well on the bricky side it looks like it is running in 640x400dpi. The levels can be come tedious if you keep dying but the music does get you into that star wars feel. The cut scenes sometimes are just too long to watch, the good thing is, you can skip them. I would say that this game is good, but only purchase it if you can get it second hand for about a tenner. I hope when the new nitendo cube comes out they will be making a superb star wars sequel to smash this one. All in all a well put together game.
I personnaly have ordered off buy.com twice. The first time I ordered a ink cartridge for my printer with the £10 voucher and then the second time a usb external zip drive with the £20 voucher. Both times I have had outstanding delivery times being on the third day of the 3-5 day deliveries. I have read a few of the problems and like all companies they have there problems. I'm sure demand for certain products are unbelievable are some of the reduced prices. Overall I rate Buy.com very highly but only when a voucher is used. Otherwise they are no the cheapest internet company. If only they had the cheaper prices to start with.
I have been with Sainsburys bank for over two years now and in those two years I have collect many good points about there banking services and not one bad point. They provide a telephone bank account with good interest rates and a cash card allowing £250 per day withdrawl. The best point about this account is you can payin at any bank or building society or by post and withdraw from any link without occuring any charges. They even sent me £20 of reward vouchers as the Link machines went down one day and no withdrawls could be made. To which I never even noticed. So for customer satisfaction they get five stars. They phone line has never been busy and the operators are polite and very helpful. If you want a hig interest hassel free savings account here is the place to bank with.
I have just opened a firstdirect account after about a month of pondering. I posted the form on thursday and I had by monday a cheque book, switch card, bank details, pin numbers and a welcome pack. This just goes to show what a brilliantly operated bank it is. I am a memeber of the HSBC who are run by first direct and even then they have provided me with a brilliant service. Another good thing is they supply you with an overdraft of £500 not interest free. This is a great incentive to get the customers. I will hope they accept me for the no annual fee credit card. I total recommend this account to anyone who wants a normal account with internet access and excellent interest rates.
I purchased this mouse from a computer fair, and wow, I never thought that I would have so many problems with a mouse. The mouse seemed to work fine until I shut down my computer. I wouldn't shut down. The mouse drivers were the problem. After removing them the computer shutdown. So if anyone is buying this mouse check the drivers throughly. Apart from that the mouse feels great to hold. The mouse wheel is a bit knotchy, but the buttons feel good. The overall design is very pleasing. And the customer support on the web is easy to find. Overall I would recommend this mouse to anyone who wants a wheel mouse with alow budget and a name they can trust.
I have just switched to NTL and they are crap. I wished I had never bothered. I though everything was going well when they sent me all the details of there package and my contract. After signing the contract and returning it they sent me a card telling me when installation was. I took the day off. They never turned up, Mightly miffed. After spending several sessions in the phone box they said they would ring me on my mobile, it never happened. After phoning them again, they told me the installation would take place in several weeks, 10 weeks later to be precise. I now have two phone lines, as it was buy one get one free, which was good. I thought this would be useful for the interenet. What internet? I have friends who were sent the CD before being installed. I phone up to ask where it is and I am told that I have to order the CD. It will be another ohhhhh 4-6weeks. The automated service said it would be delivered after April 17th, which was 5 months away. Is there any point??? I wish I had never even taken the bloody phone company on. They just take the Flippen Mickey. I hope people read this and think again like I should have. ***27th Novemeber 27th 2000***. A very annoyed user. ***5th December 2000*** CD for NTLWorld(the Internet) Arrived today. Although Now it does not work with Windows Millennium. Ha what luck....... Lucky my friends computer had windows 98se and it installed fine so I got the password and login name from the it and created my own dial-up session. ***Added January 2001*** The sent me my first bill recently, it didn't include a free months line rental free, which they said I could have as they took ages to fit the phone lines. Complaining again. ***Added 2nd March 2001*** Managed to get free month after complaining again, but the bad news is now the internet is having problems. I can't get logged on, it takes me 5 attempts to ge
t logged in. When it does get in, it kicks you off again. Another time it will log in at 12000 usually 44000bps. Have complained to NTL and they seem to think it is my computer. Nothings changed with the computers, we have two phone lines and three computers they all do it. They are now supposedly looking into it. Never NTL again..... They did actual fix the internet thing. Which was good. Even though they billed me for the free month again. Complain again! They said that they will take it off the next bill. Hummm, we'll see. NTL have now put up the charges to £11.99 , knew they couldn't be cheap forever......Never mind maybe go to BT soon. ***Added 2nd May 2001*** Calls cheap, we get itemised billing which seems to be free. Might be because i seem to complain all the time. We also get the two phone lines on seperate pages which is cool for tracking down who is making what call. The internet is now working great and i frequently get a logins of 46666,45333 and 44000 using a new 56K V.92 modem with only V.90 drivers. The internet is fast and I can play quake with a ping of 130 at times!! You get cut off every two hours which is bearable. But does prove difficult if downloading anything over 30Meg.
