I`m one of those people who isn`t easily converted to a company. Particularly one that stocks a fairly small range of somewhat pricey things which, when all is said and done, end up down the plughole... So when a friedn of mine raved about the stuff from Lush, I was sceptical to say the least. I thought individually the items were expensive...but then you pay for the "natural" hype, and to be honest, they did all sound good enough to eat. The website was ok..not very fast, not particulalry user friendly or attractive..but it worked, and sure enough within just a few days, my order arrived. The smell from the package was overpoweringly gorgeous...and it was with great anticipation that I plopped my very first bath ballistic into my bath that night.... WELL You are now looking at an addict. WORSE My two daughters have gone down the same sorry route... Our absolute favourite just has to be the Fairy Jasmine one.which covers you in glitter!!! One other point which warmed the company to me further...there was no fuss at all when part of my parcel was missing at christmas. No argument or insinuation that I was fibbing.the missing items just arrived without delay, with a covering note of apology. My kind of no fuss customer service!! All I need now is a shop near me, and I would be sorted!!! (just about to run off and buy a few things right now!!)
We have just returned from a short break staying twonights in this GORGEOUS B&B on a farm near ashnourne. I have to say we have a great deal of experience of your average mediocre accomodation..but this was nothing like anything else we have stayed in! The litte brochure we received in advance was gloosy colourful and looked VERY promising..the rooms looked beautiful and the owners seemed very helpful when I contacted them.. So we arrive after a tiring drive and an afternoon at Alton towers..just ten minutes away by car... We were greeted and shown our lovely rooms..the huge bright lounge, the pristine breakfast room..All accomodated in a converted barn on the farm.(Thee are 6 rooms available altogether.) Alan and Denise the owners, made us feel right at home...all three children happily shared one room, and we had the luxury of our own double...all ensuite rooms, and beautifully furnished. Little touches like boxed drinks for the kids were everywhere.. Breakfast orders were taken the night before..and in the morning we were certainly not disappointed...plenty of food in very homely surroundings. It represented excellent value for money for our family of five too...just £150 for the two nights.(£22.50 per adult per night, and £10 per child per night) There were several great pubs for food nearby too.serving farmer-sized protions!!!! So for a short break taking in Alton towers theme park, or a walking holiday in the beautiful Peak District national Park..right on your doorstep.you simply cannot go wrong! It has a 100% thumbs up from us all...we will return without a doubt!!!
It was interesting reading the previous opinion...I agree wit a lot of the comments, although I have a few of my own to add!!! I have actually lived in Earley and Lower Earley since I was 8. I went to local schools, I played in local parks, woorked locally and now do all of those things with my family. When I was young I played happily in the fields which are now covered with Lower Earley!!! My granparents have actually lived here for nearly 80 years...no doubt they have seen far more changes than me!! Earley definately has suffered in the past from lack of community spirit, but from my experience, I think that is due mainly to the high proportion of couples where both are out at work all day... I reallt did not get to know my next door neighbour...we shared a pair of semi`s...until we were both on maternity leave!! As soon as you have children, you discover a whole new socal , community thing that you had no idea even existed before!!! Earley and Lower Earley cna both boast a huge nunmber of oppurtunities for family orientated community buildng, based around the community centres, the schools and the leisure centre..(Incidentally , when that swimming pool FINALLY opens , the chheer will be audible forom most parts of england!!!!We have waited SOOOOO long!!) Why on earth we had the provision of a secondary school snatched away defies belief...but I strongly believe tht as we pay wokingham taxes, every resident of Earley and Lower Earley should have a place for their secondary age child in their closest school, and not have to travel miles and miles. Currently this isn`t the case..and is a huge planning blunder. I enjoy living here....Communication to other parts of the country are good, and if you must go to London, it`s very easy.... The downside is property prices...we bought our 4 bed house 7 years ago and it has doubled in value. How our children will ever get started in the h
ousing market is unimaginable...but the upside of this area is less than 1% unemployment...at least they will have a job!! this would be the ideal place for me to live...if only the sea was at the bottom of my garden.but then thats just a personal thing!!
Well..its my home town..so I suppose I`m bound to be attached to it sentimentally!!! Reading has had a rapidly expanding population over the years..and has grown from a small place centred around a biscuit factory(Huntley and Palmers) and a canal and the Thames, to a thriving and vibrant almost city...with a hugely successful university and a town centre which really cannot be betterted by a trip to London for shopping.. If you attempted to visit every pub in Reading...you just would not make it...we have hundreds....and a huge variety of eating places in the towncentre and outlying districts. Reading is also very well placed for commuting to London...and has excellent links with all parts of the country..being a short distance from the beautiful berkshire Downs..and less than two hours from the dorset coast and New Forest... We are blessed with one of the lowest unemployment figures in the country..computer industrues abound sround here, and the new Oracle shopping centre has provided hundreds of new jobs. The Thames runs through the edge of the town, and is a quiet and calm oasis to enjoy at any time. One downside is the huge cost of living here...it does seem drastically unbalanced sometimes.. We bought our house here 8 years ago..and it has literally doubled in value...we certainly could not afford to purchase it now...in a two income proffesional family??How exactly our children are going to get on the housing ladder , I really don`t know... Another problem is also the poor air quality sometimes associated with the Thames Valley..it isn`t really the place to be if you are an asthma sufferer!!(Luckily. my family are not!!) All in all. Reading has a great deal to offer..I certainly feel at home here.!!!
The first thing that drew us to this hotel 10 years ago was its fantastic position adjacent to the most glorious sweep of sandy beach... The north cornwall coastline is rugged and spectacular at this point...surfing is the "in " thing here...other pastimes include rock pooling, sand castle building and for the more energetic..walking along the coastal path that passes throught the hotel grounds. Really the hotel need not be very special ...it could only win being situated here...BUT...believe me it is!! Firstly the atmosphere is not starchy at all....all of the staff are helpful , friendly and well used to children. You truly feel as if you can relax...noone will be staring at your children in disdain!!! A lot of the accomodation is for families..they have wonderful suites consisting of several rooms for larger families...we always indulge ourselves in one of these suites.. The facilities in the hotal for kids are great...they have regular activities arranged for them each day. There are family tournaments in most sports, swimming galas, visiting clowns, a fancy dress party..to name a few. Baby listening arrangements are good, and childrens tea is excellent..under 8`s can be supervised in the playroom whilst you eat later...but I know that unhappy children often join adults in the dining room..it is all very relaxed!! The food is of a very high standard ...and lots of it!!! The children..now 13, 11 and 8 know the place so well..its like a second home!! And although it is somewhat expensive...we alwasy feel like we`ve had our moneys worth!!! They do lots of special cheap breaks...but as I work in a school we never get to take them up!! Basically I would recoomend this place to anyone....and they wil even take bookings from sunday to sunday...which for anyone who has ever tried to drive to cornwall on a saturday , is an absolute Godsend!!! So maybe this really is a corner of heaven after all?????
I have been a fan of this small company for a while now... they stock an ever increasing selection of unusual baby and childrens wear...mostly casual wear...and usually mainly natural cotton. Most of their goods are american in origin. They even have a few adult sizes items. Everything i have had from there has been of superior quality and the telephone operators are always extremely knowledgable and helpful with plenty of advice!! One particular range which all of my family have loved is their very bright tie Dye seperates...we have had t shirts, dresses, leggings and swimsuits over the years...and they are still going strong!! I would not hesitate to recommend the company..and hope it continues to go from strength to strength... Initially some of the items are expensive...but they just go on and on!!!
I have been using the Softback Preview club for w hile now. I t was an excellent offer to begin with.....and there is no commitment to buy anything else. The magazine that you receive peiodically could do with being more descriptive and possibly more attractive..about the books they are offering...but the prices are reasonable, with a huge variety of fiction and non fiction books available...particularly if you are buying more than one title...as this entitles you to further reductions! I have never accepted the editors choice and have always rejected it by post, and I have never been sent a book in error that I had rejected..... I assume that the books are all preview editions, which is why they are so cheap...one or two that i have read have glaring mistakes in the grammar and scripting that would be corrected before going to press for real!! I am happy with the club...i originally received the offer just as a flyer through the post...and I am pleased that I took it up...althoug I am a bit greedy over books...and my house is currently disappearing under a book mountain....
I had this book for a while before I got round to reading it on holiday.....I had passed over it a few times thinking that i really should get into it... Anyway....I began it on our hols.....nad I was so glad I had time, because it was one of those books you just couldnt put down.....for more than one reason......one is that it has no chapter breaks...so you never really come to a point when you can say.."right...leave it for now.." I found this hard at first...it just rolled on and on...but after a while i got used to this format...secondly..I just had to keep reading to see what was happening next..Ben Elton`s style of writing brought every scenario alive so easily, that you really felt you coulod see each scene..Thirdly...it made me laugh out loud at inappropriate moments..and I love to read a book that can make me do that... It had a very serious poignant storyline...one that you know is based on the elton`s own experiences.....but it was so touching and clever that it made a wonderful book. And it didn`t have an awful contrived "happy ending.."..I get so cross when i find that at the end of a good book...when life just isn`t always like that!!! Anyway...I think I`m a Ben Elton addict now....Always loved him as a comedian...now as an author!! Keep up the good work Ben!!(Altho you may not have time with Number three on the way...!!!)
We were already converts to MPV`s when we chose the zafira for our company car....but to save us some pennies we decided to size down a bit from the Seat Alhambra we previously had. We expected to come down in quality and performance too....not so at all we found!! The Zafira is a much more pleasant car to drive than the bigger mpv....much more nippy and easier to handle. It is economical and has plenty of room for us ,three kids and luggage...although we did invest in a roof box for our annual trip to Cornwall....where else to put the surfboards??? The thing we like about it most is the ease of rearranging the seat configuration onside...no more lugging heavy seats about...we actually kept one in the loft permanently from the other car..... No...it`s one simple action with the Zafira , and the back seat s can go under the floor...one or bothe of them, and with the middle row folded it has a huge capacity. We love our car...can you tell??And we honestly feel proud when we all pile in...it looks sleek and contoured...one niggle?? we think a cd player should come as standard, not an extra...and there should be little speakers right in the back....you have to blast it out in the front for the kids to hear all the way back there!!! I would say that this is a definate option for anyone looking at a smaller MPV.....not for someone who regularly carries 7 adults on long journeys...the back seats are a bit of a push for anyone larger than a small adult!! But for us it is absolutely ideal....we made the right choice!!
This has got to be one of the most fascinating toy and gift selections I have come across for ages!!! They stock an unusual selection of items....many of which could be classed as "old fashioned 2 toys if you like.....but they seem to put together a collection that has universal appeal whatever the age!! Each item is covered in a ctalogue by a humourous and highly informative description and picture...the items are availble by ordering by post or online... The selection of cheap and cheerful pressies is huge...ideal for stocking fillers..and lots of games are also included. Last year we purchased an excellent Roulette set from the catalogue..and we hve had endless family fun with it!!! They also stock a range of reproduction Victorian scraps for the creative amongst them..my daughter is hooked on creating endless collages from them... Delivery has always been fast quick and accurate...and is actually FREE over £30!!! All I can do is suggest you go and have a nosey...it really will be worth your while!!
I have always been very impressed with the service and speed of service from amazon when I`ve bought books and cd`s from the website...and added advantage for me to shop here is that i can also benefit my son`s school...as they have a fundraising link from THEIR website!!! My main bug bear is the postage. If you have a mixed order it seems to escalate really quickly......so when you actually receive the parcel and tot it up it can be a bit of a shock!!! Still its a major thumbs up for convenience every time...and they quite often have had books in stock that I`ve failed to track down elsewhere!!! YES!!!
We have been going to centerparcs in the UK now for many years....with friends with kids we have booked adjacent villas and had a great time...we have been on a "child free " break with friends...and last year for the first time , we went to Sherwood for the christmas week... I just have to say that it was a wonderful experience...we pre.ordered lots of items to be ready on arrival....we had logfires every night....I cooked a complete christmas dinner ..it was so easy in such a well equipped villa!! The best thing for the children was "swimming in the dark"..the pool is a magical wonderland when illuminated at night...and for me it seemed surreal to be zooming down the wild water rapids in December with staem rising all around you.... SSSHHH..don`t tell the kids..but we`re off to Longleat after christmas just for the weekend with 5 other couples for a 40th birthday party.......JUST GROWN UPS!!! But we are planning to take them agian in 2001....HONEST!!!!
I`ve been visiting this young site regularly, virtually since it`s birth...and I must say that it has come through several bouts of teething pains without too much discomfort..and is turning into a very well-balanced toddler..... There is a very wide selection of easy to use message boards ...serious and not so.....supportive, informative and fun...The chats are always good ...and you will be intrigued by the "auction"..just for laughs but with excellent prizes!!! From the start as a "newbie" you are instantly made to feel welcome...and you soon get to know the "regulars.." oh yes there are quite a few of us who just cannot keep away now.... If you have visited and felt us "cliquey" I would beg to differ .....it is just that we all feel so confident and happy using the site..that is established members AND newbies....that it may appear we are all "best friends.." True, some members are....BUT...please remember that any stranger is just a friend you have not yet got to know!!! Come and join us....and you will soon feel you belong there too!!!!
