About this Member

People of Britain:I want to look particularly sad and serious today because we are living in particularly sad and serious times. We face an evil the likes of which we have never, if rarely, faced before. Osama bin Laden, al-Qaeda, the Taliban, Saddam Hussein, Gordon Brown. These are names steeped in infamy and barbarism.Against them are ranged the forces of Light, Purity, and Goodness: myself, George W. Bush, the ex-KGB head Vladimir Putin, the firm-but-fair Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the military dictator of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf, and, of course, God, without whose help I think even I would find it difficult to succeed. Some of us are Christians, some Jews, some Muslims, but this is what unites us, not divides us, for it makes us all Children of Abraham. If you read the Bible you will discover that Abraham was prepared to kill his own son because God told him to. If we had a little more quiet faith like that and a little less fanaticism I think the world would be a much better place to live in. That, at least, is my humble opinion -- but I think you'll find I'm usually right. After all, God is on my side, whatever the likes of Mr. Bin Laden might think. In My Name,Tony.
