Ever since I was a little kid I've wanted to learn how to play the guitar. I would idolize guys like Jimmy Page and David Gilmour and dream that one day I would be able to play like that. Little did I know just how difficult that journey would be. A few years ago, I decided that I wanted to give it a try. So I picked up Getting Started on Electric Guitar in hopes that I would pick up a few licks. The DVD's instructor, Keith Wyatt, does a great job of going through the basics in quick repeatable chapters. Wyatt goes through everything you'll need to know to start playing music.
Starting with the very basics, such as tuning the guitar to more advanced scales, you'll learn at your own pace. The lessons are cut into short digestible sections that you'll quickly memorize. Before you know it, you've developed an arsenal of picking skills and all sorts of chords. The reason I liked this DVD is because it was easy to understand, (including visual aids) and most importantly it gave me the tools I needed to play some music. After studying the lessons in this DVD countless times I am now able to play along with friends and family. If you've ever wanted to learn to play the guitar, this is a great place to start.
If you're a fan of Apple products, Apple TV is another great link in the chain. When we first bought our Apple TV we weren't really sure that spending $99 was necessarily going to be worth it. I'm not overly adept at using computers so I was also worried about setting the thing up! Luckily, setting up our Apple TV was quick and easy. The instructions are laid out for anyone to understand and after only a few minutes we were streaming movies and music from iTunes on the laptop straight to our TV. Using AirPlay, you can easily send videos from your iPad or Apple computer straight to your TV screen at the press of a button. It's great when you're on YouTube or looking at pictures. Movies aside, we love using our Apple TV most for streaming music through the house. You're going to use this thing a ton! Don't let the $99 price scare you, you're going to love all the uses of this little black box.
