I first come into contact with the GHD IV styler when people began to talk about how good they were. At around £100 the styler isn't cheap so I thought it must be good if people are willing to pay that much! After buying one for myself I completely understand why people want them so bad! The GHD styler blows the competition out of the water!
The ceramic plates heat up in around 6 seconds and they are piping hot. They glide down your hair without catching or pulling any strands and makes your hair pin straight in just one go. I was amazed at how my hair stayed straight all day from just going over my hair in the morning. The styler works for all different types of hair including all thicknesses as well. My mum also has a pair of GHD's and her hair is very thick. It takes longer for her to straighten her hair obviously because she has more hair but she can still achieve the poker straight effect that anyone with thinner hair can achieve.
One concern I had with the styler was that the first pair broke as the fuse blew. This was due to me accidently leaving them on and sometimes even leaving them in a position that would cause the electric wire to burn. Although this was purely my fault I did feel that this put me off using the styler as I have heard in the newspaper about someone who has burnt down their house by leaving their straightners on.
I am happy to say that when I bought my second pair GHD has sorted this problem and had created a sleep mode that turns the styler off after a certain amount of time. This is a brilliant idea as although the appliance is still plugged in and on there is no heat and therefore the styler is less likely to break or catch fire. After a few minutes the styler will begin to beep and flash and this tells you it is about to go off. I'm sure this added element to the styler has saved a huge amount of people from burning their properties.
I recently learnt that you can also curl your hair with the GHD styler which I find very impressive. All you have to do is turn the styler as you are gliding it down your hair and it can create beautiful curls and waves. You can also create flicks and other styles. This is definitely another reason to buy the product as you don't have to pay for another styler to curl your hair as well! You can just use your Ghds!
Overall I would say this is a good product as would recommend it. Although it is quite expensive, they last for ages and never fail to make your hair look fabulous!
My attention was first brought to this product when my mother bought it for herself. She has very thick hair so needed a hair dryer with lots of power and at 2000W this definatley has power! The product dries my mother's hair really quickly so for me, with very much finer hair it dries my hair in minutes. I therefore asked for a Mark Hill hairdryer as a present for christmas off my parents.
Looking at the price of the product on the internet (approx £60.00!) I was quite shocked and even though I love the product I do think it is a bit expensive.
It comes in some fabulous designs (which I feel is totally unique for hairdryers and havent really seen this been done before!), I have a gorgeous leopard print design and I have also seen zebra prints and various other colours in the shops.
The hairdryer comes with three different nozzles and a little book to tell you what they are for and how to use them. I personally use the concentrated nozzle as I feel its gives my hair a sleeker and shinier finish. I find it very easy to style my hair with the hair dryer as it is a very nice shape to hold on to. I have no experience in hair dressing but find myself blow drying my hair well and also being able to create different shapes and flicks.
The hair dryer has 3 heat settings and three power settings. Although there isnt much difference in the heat settings (I always just use the hottest), the power settings come in handy when I need less power for setting rollers for example.
Overall I think its a very good hairdryer and would reccomend it to anyone! It may be a bit pricey but its definatley worth it!
My family and I bought Mariokart Wii as a game that all the family could play! We bought it for around £35 which we thought was a great price, it has since been reduced. Obviously to use the game and the wheel you need to have the wii remotes and the Nintendo Wii console to play it on. The wheel is a great piece of technology which allows the remote to slot in the middle of it in order to create the wifi wii connection.
The game is designed for any skill level and can played by adults and children without a doubt. You begin the game by selected the character you would like to play with. Mario Kart Wii features 24 selectable Nintendo characters to choose from. There is also a wide number of course to choose from and this is the part I liked the most. With different difficulty levels you fall in love with different courses and learn how to do tricks and stunts along the way! Your can also play tactically against your fellow players by leaving them objects that they will bump into and slow them down in someway. My favourite was to leave a banana behind for them to slip on!
The number of players involved in the game depends on how many remotes and wheels you have, so if you have a couple you can get all the family involved! There is also opportunities to play single player and play other games instead of participating in races! The only downfall I feel I should mention is that occasionly the wii remote can just miss one of you moves and therefore it doesnt appear on the screen. This can cause a bit of nuiscence as a person trying to beat a competiter can be left behind through no fault of there own! Other than that though, I would say the game is well worth buying and really brings the family together!
I first come into contact with the Samsung Tocco Lite when my boyfriend bought it for himself in black. I was impressed with the stylish nature of it and it's touch screen capabilities. I therefore was very pleased when I recieved one myself as a present in pink! The pink version of the phone is very feminine and suited me perfectly.
Whilst using the phone for myself I was very impressed with the touch-screen 3.0" LCD display as I had never seen this on a phone before. However, touch screen phones can come with their complications such as not being able to use them aswel with gloves on and also the screen can get a bit dirty from being touched all the time!
One of the main features of the phone which I used the most is the 3 Megapixel camera making it easy to take pictures anytime anywhere! I also enjoyed the MP3 Player on the phone as it plays multi-format music files. I found myself downloading music, recieving songs from my friends via bluetooth and even recording sounds to play as my ringtone! There is also access to loads of cool widgets such as calander, music, radio, even a widget for starting a diet!
Over the year or so that I had the phone I had noticed some minor wear and tear in the form of scratches and chips to the case of the phone. However, this is unavoidable and probably happens to most phoes after frequent use. Overall I think this is a good phone and would of held on to if it was for the updated technology such as the iPhone.
I have owned a Remmington Shine Therapy Hair Dryer for about two years now and have been quite happy with it. The hair dryer was the first of its kind as it had an added section on the bottom of the hair dryed that allowed you too attach a vitamin package that blasted vitamins at your hair. I was very impressed by this technology and bought the hair dryer and the vitamin packages to go with it.
My hair is reasonably thin and this seemed to be my downfall with the product. The vitamins that are blasted at the hair when drying makes the hot air moist and this therefore setlled on my hair and made it look quite greasy rather than shiny. I tried it a couple of times more and found it was not making my hair look anything else but greasy and therefore stopped using the vitamin packages.
The hairdryer is still a really strong powerful hairdryer however so I continued to use it as a normal hair dryer. This is a bit dissapointing as I have clearly spent the money for the added features, however as a hairdryer by itself it's pretty impressive. It has three power settings and three heat settings and has your hair dry in minutes. It's great for styling!
After having the hair dryer for nearly two years I have found recently the heat has melted away a bit of the plastic and now the nozzel of the dryer doesnt stay on properly. I would not recommend this product to a friend unless they had hair that was thicker and could take such products better.
I currently own a pair of babyliss heated rollers and I absolutly love them! They come in a portable plastic holder which stores them efficiantly. As I have hair that doesn't take curling very well I was eager to try them as I had been told by friends that they work really well.
The plastic storage case has a plug attached that plugs into the mains and after pressing the on button the rollers will begin to heat up! One of the rollers has a spot on the top that starts red but gradually turns white as the rollers get hot and this tells you that they are read to use! This usualy takes about 15 minutes. To use all you have to do is hold the roller at the bottom of a piece of hair and roll them up and secure them with the metal pins provided. One downfall I would say is that you can sometimes burn your fingers a little bit at this stage!
There are three different sizes of roller which is good for the top middle and back of your head. I use the bigger roller at the top and the smaller underneath for the best effect. You can leave the rollers in for as long as you want! I usually leave them in for as long as possible in order to ensure my hair is really curly when I take them out, however if your short for time, you can leave them in for about twenty minutes and the curlers will have worked just as well! When the rollers are cool you just remove the metal pin and the roller rolls out without getting tangled. This then leaves a gorgeous curl that lasts for ages! My hair took to them really well and as a curl would usualy fall out quite easily its lasted all night!
I have tried the rollers on my sisters who have thicker hair and longer hair and it works just as well so I would recommned them for any type of hair!
I recieved the iPhone 4 as a birthday present last year and have almost been fully satisfied with it. I would say the iphone is a wonderful piece of technology that most people either have or want. I particularly wanted the iPhone 4 to listen to my music without having a separate iPod and also to be able to access the internet from my phone. As far as these features go the phone is brilliant. I do not have 3G and therefore connect to the internet in wireless places only. Although sometimes there will be a network I should be allowed to connect to and find I cannot, most of the time I find it very easy to connect to a network and the speed of the internet is fast.
The iPhone has all the same functions as an iPod touch which I was very happy with. The design of the phone is very stylish and perfessional which was one of the things that first attracted me to the phone. I have since bought numerous covers that fit the phone well.
In particular I like to use the apps that are available in the app store such as the games and the social networking sites. The camara on the phone works very well and the videos are very good quality. I enjoy taking pictures and posting them straight on facebook or sending them to friends via the watsapp app.
The only problem I have had with the phone is that the sleep button at the top of the phone has recently got stuck. I feel that this was through no fault of my own and also know people whos phone this has happened to. As I have had the phone for over a year I am no longer under warrenty and this problem can not be fixed so I would have to buy a new phone if I wanted it sorted. I find now that my battery dies very easily as I have to wait for my phone to lock by itself.
A problem with the phone that was in the press was that there was a lack of signal. When I first recieved the phone there was an app where you can send off for a free cover in order to solve the problem (which I did) and I don't have any problem with signal at all!
Overall I am very impressed with the iPhone 4 and would recommend it to anyone! You will be impressed by the amount it can do and the benefits of having one will certainly outweigh the disadvantages!
This is the first Jo Nesbo book I read and since then I have gone on to read the complete Harry Hole series. The snowman is a gripping story about a homocide policeman from Norway who is investigating a case of a murderer who kills innocent people and in some cases put parts of their bodies on the body of a snowman! It is quite grusome but very well written!
The book starts quite slow and I wasn't entirely convinced at first. However, as I got into the book more I started to get more and more into the investigation that I had to find out who the murderer was!
Like all of Jo Nesbos books he points the finger at many characters throughout the story making you believe they are behind the murder. The ending is striking as you find it is the characher that you are least suspicious of! The story is not for the faint hearted but a must read for the thrill seakers! Although this is not the first in the series Nesbo writes his books so that you could pick up at any stange and know what is going on and I have found this to be a great aspect of his books!
The only other downfall to the book is the fact a lot of the names are Norwegian and so is some of the places he mentions and this can be confusing! I would recommend this too a friend as when you get into it you can't stop reading it!
I love thriller books but Sister did not grab my attention at first. Through working in a book store I came into contact with the book alot and although the information given about the book made me believe it was going to be a bit soppy, I ended up buying it.
The story begins straight away and we are told the sister is missing almost in the first pages. The book is very well written with the conclusion near the start of the book and the build up to it after. The main character goes on a frightened journey into finding where her sister is and why she is missing and has to uncover some awful things that have happened to her sister throughout her life. She doesn't back down when people tell her she should and goes all the way to uncovering the mystery. The story is certainly not soppy however has you feeling the fearful emotions of the character.
I literally could not put this book down and found myself reading it until the early hours of the morning! The ending of the book is most curious and is the biggest cliff hanger I have ever read. What happens to the main character and the end of the book is not certain and the author leaves you to make up your own mind. I like this type of ending to a certain extent, however I did feel a bit let down and unfullfilled with the fact the story didn't end in a solid way.
I would and have recommended this book to friends as I was desperate to hear their take on the conclusion to the book and they loved it just as much as I did! Rosamund Lupton is a great thriller writer and I would read the book again without a doubt!
This is a review on Barry M Instant Nail Effects. When my friend first revealed to me her nails after using this product I was certain she had got it done in a salon! But when she informed me that she had bought the polish and done it herself I just had to buy one for myself!
The product is cheaper than I expected! I was very pleased with this as I was worried it would be expensive and then I would find it hard to use! I was a bit dissapointed to find there was not much of a selection of colours to choose from so opted for the Black as shown in the picture above.
I applyed a base coat of a different Barry M nail varnish first and then began to look at the Instant Nail Effects bottle. I was extremely impressed to see the bottle has instructions of how to use the product on it and they are easy to follow! You apply one coat in a very quick and swift action. Then the effects literally appear infront of your eyes! The varnish appears to dry in certain areas and you are left with a crackled effect. This looks really good with a nice colour underneath.
I would recommend using a different colour than black as although it looks good it can look a bit dirty. Also, I tried this on my little sister ages 10 and her nails were too small to get the best effect out of the varnish. I would therefore recommend it for people with bigger nails.
Overall, a very good product that make your nails look like you've had them done in a salon! I would recommend it to anyone as it works well without any skill whatsoever! More colours available would improve the product even more.
I recieved Pandora 590702HV Silver Bracelet as present last year for my birthday. It is a very popular piece of jewellry that everybody seems to be wearing at the moment. At around £55 the bracelet is quite a good price however the bracelet is often and most commonly bought to be worn as a charm bracelt and at £30 a piece this is where the bracelet begins to get expensive! However, this makes a nice present as it's is something that you can continuinly add to and if you struggle for present ideas in the future you can buy a charm that will fit perfectly on it! The bracelet has a good clasp on it that is hard to do on your own wrist but ensures the bracelet will never fall off (which is handy as some of the beads are glass!) It also has little screws in the centre that allows beads to be screwed in, keeping them in place. A downfall to the product is that you need to fit the bracelet onto the person you are buying it for as if you get it a size too small then it reduces the amount of charms that can be fitted onto it! Overall a really nice fashionable product which I would recommend to a friend.
Big Happie Hair Bumpits are designed to be inserted into your hair and create a fashionable bump that can be worn with your hair down or up. I recieved the bumpit as a present as I was constantly trying to create the bump in my own hair via back combing. I was therefore very eager to start using the product. The first time I wore it I had my hair down and placed the bumpit at the back of my head. It created the bump I was looking for and I was very happy. However, when I was out a couple of my friends kept noticing the plastic in my hair and I suddenly felt very paranoid about it. My hair is quite thin so this may therefore be the reason the bumpit was not fully covered by my hair. I still use the bumpit however only when I have my hair up, as the hair is more likely to stay in place and I can therefore cover the bumpit knowing it will not be revealed later. Overall, a good product however would not recommed it for people with thin hair and would make sure there is enough coverage of the product.
As a person who tends to get very dry lips in the winter I have opted for Vaseline pocket size a lot in my life. I was told by a friend that it works very well and that it would be perfect for curing the problems I had with my lips.
I bought the Vaseline pocket size tub for around £1 which I feel is fairly cheap for such a product. I would say Vaseline Lip Therapy Petroleum Jelly is the most popular of its kind as I have many friends and relatives who use this product. Vaseline is available in a couple of different varieties which I was very pleased to find as you can pick which tub fits best to your needs.
I chose the original as I thought this would be best for a first time but however since then I have also bought the Rosy Lips kind as it gives your lips a nice pink tint.
At first I was very impressed with the product and I thought it worked well keeping my lips hydrated and moist for a fair amount of time. It is easy to apply as the formula is a bit like gel that can just be applied with your finger.
One downfall to the product is that as it has been on my lips for a while it tends to make the dead skin on your lips go quite white and tacky and this can be quite unappealing. I tend not to use this product as much as I would like to because of this issue. Some people I have spoke to about this claim that they do not have this problem, so it might be dependent on the dryness of each individual's lips.
I have also found that when the Vaseline pocket size tub is in the bottom of my bag, where it can be quite warm, the gel turns very sloppy and is not as nice as its original form. However, this issue can be resolved by putting the product in the fridge to harden the gel.
Overall I would recommend this product however I was raise the issue of the dead skin on your lips becoming visible after use. I would say it is worth the money you are paying for the product!
I have used this product for years however I still do not think it is the best it can be! I mostly use this product before a night out as a way to top up my tan. I tend not to use it of a day as sometimes it can look a bit orange and streaky and this is more noticable in the light! The product is used by squirting a small amount into your hand and rubbing it into the area you would like to be tanned. It takes alot of rubbing in to make it consistant in that area however if you do it quickly and consistantly enough it can work well. I usually add more or less dependant on how dark I want my tan to go! There have been occasions when it will not go right and I have been left with streaky legs. The product tends to stay quite sticky for the majority of time you are wearing it and if you were to come in contact with a material surface such as the carpet the fibres may stick to it. You must also be aware that putting this product over deodrant or spraying deodrant on after applying makes this area go slightly green! I find the best way to use this product for me is to mix it in with my makeup to give my face a bit more colour that will last the whole night! Be aware that the product does not wash off as easliy as it says it does and can leave your hands looking a dark orange colour after application! Will continuing using the product but with caution!
