I have always used a bread bin for storing my bread,I have been married for nearly 49 years and have had a great selection of bread bins, usually cheaper range ones, as I never had a lot of spare cash with 4 children,so a "posh " breadbin was beyond me.
So recently when my latest bread bin gave up the ghost and went the way of countless other of my bread bins, I decided to get one that would last.
I hunted around and found my lovely stainless steel Brabantia bread bin, gauranteed 20 years, now that was the one I wanted, I purchased the roll top option in stainless steel with black sides.I cant remember what I actually paid, but I remember that it was over £25.
My breadbin also came with 3 cannisters for tea coffee and sugar as part of the price,I have seen the same set online priced at £35.This deal is well worth it in my opinion as even the cannisters had a 20 year guarantee.
It fitted in well with my other stainless steel items and fitted on my worktop where it needed to belong.
The bread bin has an easy action roll top, which has never stuck on me (I have had this bin for about 6 years now} though it will jam if my hubby sticks the bread packet ends in the mechanism.
The stainless steel carcase just needs a quick wipe with a wet cloth and it is showing no signs of wear yet. The inside is all stainless steel and also cleans with a wipe.
I will sometimes clean the stainless steel with a tiny bit of baby oil on kitchen paper ,this takes off all finger marks and keeps it shiny.
The bread bin has a large capacity, it will hold 2 sliced loaves at a time.
I am greatly impressed with this bread bin and should have invested my money in this sooner rather than later.
All my other bread bins fall by the wayside, this Brabantis bread bin is my best buy yet.
I will give this bread bin 5 stars.
I am reviewing Pritt stick glue 43g .
Pritt stick glue stick come in a plastic tube ,which has a screw action to fetch the glue stick up.
The plastic tube is predominately white with red on the front with an image of the Pritt stick man .he looks a bit like spongebob square pants ,and the word PRITT enbazoned above him.
I bought mine from Tesco but cant remember how much I paid off hand but you can buy a pack of 6 medium sticks for £6.35 on Amazon which is a great offer.
HOW I USE THIS GLUE***********
I have made handcrafted Birthday and occasion cards for a few years now , when I first started card making this was my first glue . I have used it regularly ever since .
The glue is white to look at in the tube but dries clear ,this is essential when using it on home made cards ,theres's nothing worse than bits of dried glue on your project.
Pritt stick is easy to apply straight from the stick ,it is non messy and covers the surface well .
The larger tube is easy for children to hold and to use ,it is non toxic
Pritt stick is an ideal glue for sticking paper and card ,it will stick felt on card which is great for children to make thier own cards. It even sticks embellishments on my cards with no trouble . I have never had my cards falling apart or things falling off when I have used Pritt stick. It is ideal for glueing photos on cards or in albums .
The only thing it wont stick are heavier diamonds , sequins and metal embellishments . I use a stronger contact glue for these.
The glue is suitable for chidren to use ,though I have found my grand daughter a bit heavy handed with this and I sometimes give her a cheaper alternative if she is only play sticking.
Pritt stick glue is available in 4 different sizes ,small 11g, medium 22g ,large 43g and jumbo 90g so there is a size for all your needs
The glue can be applied smoothly and evenly, and allows sufficient time to reposition the object.
Thanks to the special airtight cap+tube-system, the glue stick keeps fresh and can be used for several years. Mine has been in use for a few months at least.
For the safety of your children
Pritt Stick is solvent-free, PVC-free and washable at 30°C.
WOULD I RECCOMEND**********
I would reccomend this glue for all your paper and card projects
I am giving it 5 stars
I bought Osiris recovery oil to see if it would help with scarring from my 18 months old operation.
I had seen this offered on Amazon for £1.99 and was going to buy some when I got around to it.
Imagine my surprise to find this in my local Lidl for the same price,so one popped itself into my trolley.
That was a fortnight ago and I have been using it twice a day aver since purchasing.
Osiris recovery oil comes packaged in a cardboard container, the box is predominately white with dark orange,it has the Osiris/Avise in an orange circle.
The words "Recovery oil" are in orange going downwards on the left of the front. There is a teardrop shaped opening for you to see the product inside.
The Osiris recovery oil comes in a 100ml clear plastic bottle, you can see the orangey oil inside.
This is handy because you can see when you need to buy a replacement.
The bottle has a white screw off cap, inside is a clear top with a small hole for the oil to come out of.
The oil is quite a runny oil and smells of rosemary, which I find really luscious.
On the box it tells you that it helps with the apearance of scars and stretch marks, softens scars blemishes and helps with uneven skin tone. The oil is suitable for all skin types.
*********MY RESULT ***************
I had a small breast lump removed 18 months ago which has left me with a small scar and a feeling of tightness over the scar area. I use a good palm full of oil, about the size of a 50p coin, each morning and evening.
I rub this in gently over the scar, the oil goes in quickly and doesn't leave a greasy feeling, just a lovely herby perfume,I just love the smell of rosemary.
I have found that this oil has improved the tightness and I dont get so much pulling of the scar when using my arm.
The scar itself looks less red and feels really softer in itself.
I am going to continue with this and have already purchased another recovery oil for when this one runs out.
************WOULD I RECCOMEND*********
Yes I would,in my own opinion works on my scar,I just wish I had started to use this sooner though.
I am giving this product 5 Dooyoo stars.
I will admit at the start ,I do pluck my brows too much.
There , I've admitted my sin .
My brows are really sparce and grow all over the place , I,m always plucking out stray hairs and find I end up with bald bits in them.
I do use a brown eye pencil but I find it looks artificial if you not careful.
I recently purchased this Revlon brow fill in powder to see if it would help my problem brows.
Revlon brow fill in powder comes in a pinky brown plastic round container. It is a small size and suitable for you handbag or make up bag .
I has two compartments for the brow powder with two shades of powder, a tiny brush to apply the powder and above both is a half moon mirror so you can see what your doing .The mirror is one which you can actually see in and could be used when you apply this. I wear specs so I always use a magnifying mirror.
This container comes on a purple backing card all covered in clear plastic.
I paid £1 for this from poundland.
I got mine in brunette which is number 004 .
DOES IT WORK
The powder itself has no smell and has an ultra refined powder formula which blends easily with each other to produce the shade you need . I have the brunette palette as I have brown hair and it does match my brow colouring .This Revlon brow powder is also available in 002 blond and 006 dark brown , so should be suitable for most hair colouring .It is easy to use to fill in sparse areas and it stays on all day without fading. I find I can put it on in the morning and it stays on until I remove it with a face wipe before bed .
It has really solved my brow problem and I now dont worry if I overpluck .
WOULD I RECCOMEND
I would definately reccomend Revlon Brow Fill in Powder ,it is economical,I have had mine for over a month and have hardly used any .
I am giving this product 5 stars
I am reviewing Walkers lights simply salted crisps
I bought my multi pack of Walker's lights at Tesco ,theo cost me £1.79 p for a multi pack of 6 packets.
I could have had 2 packs of 6 for £3 , but as only I eat them , I thought it would be false ecomomy to buy the extra pack .
Each single pack contains 24g , and only 115 calories.
I have been eating these as part of my calorie controling diet , I love crisps , and only eat ready salted so it made sense to try these.
The packet they are in , is made from bright red plastic with a blue flash on the front, this blue bit has the Walker logo on the top , and the word lights written across the body of it .
At the bottom it tells you they are simply salted, by this , I think they mean very lightly salted .
they contain 33% less fat
Sunseed naturally lower in saturates
No MSG, preservatives and artificial colours
Suitable for vegetarians
I find they have not got the big salty taste that you get from the salt your own bags of crisps , but I think they do satisfy the salted crisp craving ,which I get sometimes.
I am giving them 4 stars as they dont seem to contain as many crisps as other packs ,maybe that's why they are called Walker's lights
I reccomend them as they have less salt than other snacks ,so are marginally better for you.
I am reviewing Optrex eye wash and eye bath
THE PRODUCT .............
Optrex eye wash is purchased in a largish green box , with the word OPTREX in a blue cartouche , and the words " eye wash " underneath .It also imforms you that it comes with a seperate eyebath , this is good because I have had other eye washes which dont contain an eye bath . I have tried using other items such as an egg cup to administer eye wash ,but they dont work as good as the proper eye bath. There is a pic of the eye bath on the front .
I cant remember what I paid for this ,but a similar ,more up to date version is on the Tesco website for £3.50p
Inside the box you will find a clear glass bottle with the eye wash inside ,this has a green eye bath over the screw on lid .
The bottle contains 110 ml ,so is quite a good size.
I like the clear glass bottle as I can see when I need a replacement .It is also easy to hold as it is quite a chunky design .
I often have really tired and strained eyes,I have worn glasses since I was a child and sometimes I find my eyes need a little cheering up ,this eye wash really perks them up .It really makes my eyes feel clearer and adds extra sparkle to them.
I use it when my eyes are really tired ,especially after too much television viewing .
Sometimes being on my computer makes my eyes really achey ,so I will refresh my eyes with the product especially if I am going out in the evening
How to use this eye wash ...........
Optrex Multi Action Eye Wash comes with a single eye bath for application.
Ensure your hands are clean and dry and the bottle's seal is intact.
Open the screw top .
Firstly pour the wash into the eye bath until it's about a third full. Bend your head forward, holding the eye bath by its base. Place the eye bath over your eye and slowly raise your head with your eye open, so the eye wash flows into it. Gently rock your head from side to side for at least 30 seconds. I really dont like opening my eyes ,but with practice anything is possible .I find this extremely difficult to get right ,sometimes the eye wash dribbles down my face, looks like I have been having a good cry.
If the eye bath is likely to be used by more than one person it is a sensible precaution to sterilize it by boiling it in water.
Sometimes my Husband uses this product ,he gets itchy eyes sometimes and this helps him .
Optrex Multi Action Eye Wash is suitable for everyday use.
Witch Hazel, Purified Water ,so not much really
Optrex eye wash can be stored for 3 months after first opening .
MY OPINION .................
I really think this is a great product if you have really tired or strained eyes .I am giving it 4 stars ,I,m taking one star off because I dont really like doing the eye wash thingy ,I would much prefer to put drops in my eyes instead .
I would recommend as it does do its job really good though ,i just as long as you dont mind opening your eyes in the eye bath .
I would buy again as Optrex eye wash does exactlywhat it says it does on the box .
I am reviewing Tesco Paracetamol 500 mg caplets
I got up early this morning, not intentionally ,but with a bad bout of my dreaded IBS . which included along with the cramps and other toilet trouble , an horrendous throbbing headache .
I often get a headache with my other IBS symptons
So first thing I grabbed was a loperamide capsule to stop the diarrheoa, then 2 of these paracetamol , a glass of water ,and a hot water bottle ,I know its June, but when the cramps start ,only an hot water bottle seems to comfort me.
I swallowed the two paracetamol capsules along with the loperamide and hoped for a quick solution to my symptons . The paracetamols help with the stomach cramps that IBS also bring with it .
Anyway a few hours later ,when my headache and IBS had subsided ,I checked the pack of paracetamol and found they were the cheaper version from Tesco not my normal brand of paracetamols that are usually in my medicine cupboard . I thought I had taken a better quality paracetamol because my headache had completely abatted. so I thought I would review them so you all can see how good they work.
Tesco paracetamol 500mg caplets were purchased for the lovely price of 19 pence a pack ,yep ,thats 19p for 16 caplets ,you can cure 8 headaches for 19p ,thats amazing.
The pack containing 16 caplets a is slightly different colouring to the image shown ,it is now predominately bright blue with a darker blue bottom bit, with a picture of two caplets on the front
Inside are two foil strips containg 8 caplets in each ,why do they call them 'caplets' ? They look just like normal paracetamol capsules , so what's with the caplet business ?
You can also see that they are torpedo shaped , which makes them easier to swallow.
They also feel as if they are coated so they slip down easily without you getting that horrible paracetamol taste on your tongue , which can happen when they don't go down first time ,I always take them with at least half a glass of water.
Theres nothing worse than getting a horrible tablet taste in your mouth ,yuk.
Well they worked on my stomach cramps and my headache at the same time so a big thumb's up from me for these Tesco paracetamols ,just as good at taking away pain as the branded more expensive tablets ,so I think I will stock up on these from now on .
WHAT IT SAYS ON THE BOX...........
Swallow the caplets, preferably with a drink of water. Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years:
Take one or two caplets up to four times a day, as required.
Children 6 to 12 years: Half to one caplet up to four times a day, as required.
Do not give to children under 6 years.
Do not take more often than every four hours. Do not exceed four doses (8 caplets) in any 24 hour period.
Do not take for more than 3 days unless instructed by your doctor.
DO NOT EXCEED THE STATED DOSE. If symptoms persist consult your doctor.
WOULD I RECOMMEND .......
You bet I would ,these Tesco paracetamols are great value and do the job they are made for just as good as branded paracetamols . They can be used for both headaches and pain .
They are a very useful medicine cabinet standby and I always keep one or two packs in my cupboard .
They have been used by most of my family for mainly headaches ,but also toothache pain ,and they have always come up to the mark.
5 STARS FROM ME
I am reviewing Sudafed mucus relief triple action cold and flu tablets
Sudafed mucus reloef triple action cold and flu tablets are the ulyimate deterrent to that horrible bunged up feeling you get when you have a really bad cold .I usually need these after my cold has just about gone ,but still leaves me with the nasty stuffed up feeling.

THE COST ..........
I paid £3.79 for my last box from Lloyds the Chemist
I usually find that help in clearing that blocked feeling comes pretty quickly after taking the first two tablets
I always keep a pack of these Sudafed mucus relief triple action tablets in my medicine cupboard, which is quite big ,my husband and myself take quite a few prescription medications ,lol. and these sudafed come in handy especially in the Winter months when colds and flu are around .
I recommend Sudafed as a great unblocker ,especially of noses .
I am reviewing Strepsils strawberry ,sugae free , lozenges .
They retail about £4 for a box of 16 lozenges
In the last few days I have suffered with a really aggravating sore throat , I thought I was coming done with a summer cold , but nothing came of it, just the niggly sore feeling in my throat .
So off I go to mr T,s and get some Strepsils ,I have used these many times before and know that they are effective ,and give relief from the soreness of an itchy sore throat .
There was lots of choices in the Strepsils varieties ,including, honey and lemon ones for sore throat and cough, even some with added vitamin C ,but I chose the sugar free strawberry lozenges ,as I like the flavour of these the best.
Strepsils come in a pink and white cardboard container [box],with Strepsils written in large black lettering on the top ,and strawberry ,sugar free, lozenges written in,of course, strawberry pink lettering
Also on the front it says Dual antiseptic lozenge ,contains 16 Lozenges .
There thats the front of the box,now to the back.....
ingredients are .........
2,4-Dichlorobenzyl alcohol, Amylmetacresol , each Strepsils Strawberry Sugar Free Lozenges contains two antiseptic ingredients (2,4-Dichlorobenzyl alcohol & Amylmetacresol) for use in throat medications. These are used for the symptomatic relief of mouth and throat infections. Strepsils Strawberry Sugar Free Lozenges are suitable for use by people with Diabetes. - Soothing effective relief for sore throats
How to take them, Strepsils lozenges are suitable for adults and children ,
Dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth every 2 to 3 hours.
Do not exceed the stated dose ,
Do not give to children under 6 years.
KEEP OUT OF REACH AND SIGHT OF YOUNG CHILDREN
On opening the pack I am greeted by the pretty pink lozenges in a two bubble strips of eight lozenges .
They are easily released from these bubbles ,and OH what relief one of these gave to my aching throat ,
they instantly started working on the soreness .
I used about four over the first day , and maybe two the following day and I can say they have great soothing properties .
I would highly reccomend these Strepsils Strawberry lozenges for anyone with a sore throat
I am giving them 5 stars ,and will certainly be purchasing again and keeping them in my medicine cupboard
I am reviewing Sanex dermo extra control anti-persperant deoderant
I have had this Sanex rollon deoderant in my handbag for ages so I think I will share my thoughts on this product with you all.
Sanex extra control roll on deoderant comes in a 50ml plastic container,it is in a opaque plastic with a royal blue pull off lid ,well it looks like a lid , but actually it is the roll on part this has a white ball top .
It has the word sanex in white on a blue background It is so much easier to use a roll on than a spray ,in my opinion .It is easier to get it where it is needed .
If the roller ball has stuck a little, perhaps with not using it for a while ,just give it a little push with your finger ,it will soon be working again .
On their website it tells you that it is suitable for all skin types
And that this formula with Micro Talc works effectively with the skin to control wetness for fresh, dry underarms all day long, whilst letting skin breath and preventing body odours. The deodorant is dermatologically tested and contains 0% alcohol.
AQUA , ALUMINUM CHLOROHYDRATE , GLYCERIN , PPG-15 STEARYL ETHER , STEARETH-2 , CYCLOPENTASILOXANE , STEARETH-21 , PARFUM , TALC , DIMETHICONE , BHT .
I have found this deoderant to be very effective and lasts all day ,it has a faint perfume but not enough to overpower . My 50ml deoderant has been used for about 3 weeks and still feels pretty full .
The price in Tesco today is just 87 p so very reasonable
I would recommend this as an affordable deoderant and it an ideal size to pop in your handbag
I will award Sanex Derm extra control roll on deoderant 5 stars
I am reviewing Lancome Tresor eau de parfum
I bought the 30ml Tresor eau de parfum as a present to myself about 6 months ago and this is my review.
Tresor comes in a pale orange cardboard box with a black label on the front with the Tresor logo in gold writing .looks really elegant .
The bottle inside is a kind of four sided triangle in glass with a square glass top, underneath this top is a black spray mechanism .
Very easy to hold for spraying .
On the website it says it has the following notes.......
Top Notes [Rose Petals, Apricot Blossoms, Peach Tree Flowers]
Middle Notes [Lilly of the Valley, Vanilla, Heliotrope, Iris]
Base Notes [Sandalwood, Musk]
I can smell the rose, and the sandalwood ,I love this perfume and when I wear it , I get many compliments
I have fallen in love with this perfume, when you put it on it is strong at first , a little bit heady , but this is soon replaced with a lingering blossomy perfume , which has great staying power
On the Lancome Tresor website the 30 ml is priced at £40 , but I,m sure you can find it at a lower price if you shop around.
I think I paid about £30 for mine
I will give this perfume 5 big stars , I would give it 10 if the stars went up that high .
Tresor by Lancome is one of my all time favourites and I would reccomend it to all
I am reviewing Cath Kidston rose luxury guest soaps, not the item shown in image .
I recieved a pack of these beautiful Cath Kidston guest soaps for Mothers Day from my daughter.
She knows that I like Cath Kidston merchandise and has already bought me a bag from her .
The pack of nine soaps come lovingly presented in a box with an acetate cover ,beautifully entwined with pink ribbon holding a gift card .
There are nine individually wrapped little bars of guest soaps each coming in at 25 g
There are two wrapped in pink spotty paper, two wrapped in green spotty paper and five in the pink rose print.
The look the part, I can tell you, each one has a stuck on label with the familiar Cath Kidston logo, and the words rose soap .
Glycerin (Great moisturiser for sensitive skin), Essential Oils, No Artificial Colourings, Paraben Free, Sulphate Free
I recieved these as a present ,but on the Cath Kidston website they retail for £10 , wooooooooooo.
Anyway,I was bathing yesterday evening and they were sitting staring me out so I thought ,why not try them to see if the lived up to the hype.
So I picked out one of the green spotty bars and opened it ,I was waiting for a lovely rose perfume to permeate my nostrils ,but there was not even the faintest of rosie smell .
I lathered my puff up ,hoping the that it would help the rose perfume , but no , it just smelt of white soap , just like Simple soap ,
no perfume whatsoever.
I was very dissapointed as I was expecting a really lovely smell what with all the beautiful packaging
I am giving these soaps 3 stars for the pretty package ,they are ideal as a gift ,but I will just leave them for the children to use on the wash basin
Cath Kidston has dissapointed me , big time .
I am reviewing Tesco Diarrhoea relief capsules
I have suffered with IBS for a few years now ,I mainly get a bout when I am stressed ,My recent Cancer scare, was my most stressful time , and I came to rely on these ,I can tell you .
After my little op , I had to have 3 weeks of radiotherapy ,which for me was very stressful ,so these capsules came in really handy and I used them often over those 3 weeks and have used them since when needed.
Tesco Diarrhoea capsules come in an attractive blue and whte cardboard box, each box contains one strip of six capsules captured in a bubble .
The capsules are very easy to get out and easy to swallow .The front of the box has the Tesco logo ,with an image of two capsules ,and the words in black, which says that the pack contains 6 capsules .
On the reverse of the box are the following
For oral use.
Swallow whole with a drink of water.
Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years:
2 capsules to be taken initially, followed by one capsule after each loose motion, up to a maximum of 6 capsules in any 24 hours.
Not recommended for children under 12 years of age. DO NOT EXCEED THE STATED DOSE.
I paid 80p per pack at Tesco
I find these work just as good as the more expensive Immodium which I have also taken.
They are handy to keep in my handbag ,because I never know when I will need them ,and I need to have them always around .
I would recommend Tesco Diarrhoea relief capsules to all who feel the need to use them...........
I will give them 5 stars
I am reviewing Dove rich Nourishing Beauty Body Moisturiser
I bought this from Tesco,I think it was about £4.99
I have had container of Dove Beauty Body moisturiser for a few months and have used it 3 to 4 times per week .
Dove beauty body moisturiser is just one of the many Dove body products ,I uasually use Dove Pro age ,but when I run out I started to use this as I already had it in my bedroom .
Waste not ,want not ,is what I believe in ,so, I started to use this product
The Dove moisturiser I have is for dry skin ,which I find ideal , I have found that as I have gotten older ,and since I had some radio therapy, my skin has gone much drier .
Dove moisturiser comes in the familiarly shaped plastic bottle with an easy flip up lid
It contains 250 mls
On the front is the Dove logo of a stylized bird and the words " DOVE " rich nourishing beauty body moisturiser ,for dry skin
On the reverse it tells you that the key to beautiful skin is moisture, and this moisturiser was made to care for your skin with up to 24 hrs mosture, moisturising formula , I suppose it must have lots of water in then ...............
Skin is left soft and supple and radient
I have used this moisturiser on my arms and legs mostly as they seem to be my really dry spots ,especially my forearms which can be really itchy if I forget to put some form of cream on them regularly.
This product has very little smell to it, unlike the pro age products which have a sickly prefume to them, so I prefer this ,
The white cream comes out easily and is quickly absorbed into my skin.
There is no sticky feeling after applying this moisturiser ,and my skin feels really nourished and soft.
I am recommending this as a great dry skin moisturiser
I will give this 4 stars ,I took a star off because I would have liked it to smell a little better
Mc Vities digestive double chocolate
