I love the Elvive haircare range from L'Oreal so when I saw the Full-Restore 5 range on offer with all the other Elvive shampoos and conditioners in Boots a few months back, I thought I would give it a go. And it's become one of the best haircare ranges I've ever used! Here is my review for Elvive Full-Restore 5 Shampoo: 1. The Smell For me, this is one of the most important things when it comes to shampoos and conditioners. The smell of this is quite hard to describe to tell you the truth. It's a fresh, clean smell that definitely you're either going to love or hate. I think it would suit both men and women but others may feel differently. I love it and it gets 5 stars from me. 2. The Lather The lather of this, like a lot of the Elvive shampoos is very good indeed. It lathers really well and the wonderful smell feels the bathroom, and the wonderful creamy lather is rinsed out very very easily. Once rinsed out, my hair feels really soft, perfect for applying the matching 60-Second Saviour or conditioner. Lather gets 5 stars from me. 3. The Result This along with the matching 60-Second Saviour has brought back the life into my hair. I have really long, thick, curly hair that I always leave to dry naturally and once my hair is dry, it feels totally weightless, silky silky soft, shiny and my curls seem more defined too. It feels like a whole new head of hair for me! The smell stays in my hair all day long as do the results! I can even get away with not washing my hair everyday with this, which is not something I can normally get away with with other shampoos and conditioners! Result gets 5 stars from me! Overall, this is a fabulous shampoo that gives my hair a whole new lease of life! Price-wise a 250ml bottle of this can be found for around the £2.50 - £3 mark and a 400ml bottle for around the £3.50 - £4 mark, which I feel is great value.
I love the Full-Restore 5 range from L'Oreal Elvive so when I noticed this last year, I knew it had to be worth a go. I wasn't disappointed! Here is my review for Elvive Full-Restore 5 60-Second Saviour: 1. The Smell This is one of the most important things to me. The smell of this is hard to describe I have to say. It's a very clean, fresh smell. It is quite a strong smell so may not suit some people's taste but I love it so it gets 5 stars from me. 2. The Application: Well this is to be applied to damp hair after shampooing and you are asked to leave it on for 60 seconds before rinsing clean. What I do is squeeze the excess water out of my hair after using the Full-Restore 5 shampoo, apply this from root to tip and count to 60 seconds. This is very easy to do and I can easily coat every strand of my long, thick hair evenly. Rinsing this out is very easy. The smell isn't as strong once you start applying it though, so that's a bit of a bummer for me but may suit others. Application gets 4 stars from me. 3. The Result: I can honestly say the results after using this is just incredible! My dry ends are nourished, my greasy roots are no more, frizz is gone and overall my hair just looks and feels great. I love it and for me, it is one of the best treatment masks I have used in years and I will definitely continue to use for as long as it is on the market. Result gets 5 stars from me. Overall I really recommend this 60-Second Saviour for silky soft hair. Price wise it is a little expensive at around £5 for a 200ml tube but L'Oreal Elvive products are often on offer so do keep a eye out.
I like a lot of the Naturals range from Avon and I love strawberry scented smellies so when I first saw this in the Avon book a few months back, I ordered some straight away! Here is my review for Avon Naturals Strawberry Body Scrub: 1. The Smell This is one of the most important things to me. The smell of this really is mouth-watering to me! It reminds me of a strawberry milkshake or Angel Delight! It really is good enough to eat! When you rub it in, the smell gets stronger! It's great! Smell gets 5 stars from me! 2. The Application This scrub is really light, and has quite a sandy texture but it isn't abrasive at all. It's really light and the first time I used it I didn't think it would exfoliate all that well, but I was wrong! It has a nice light lather to it as well. It's very pleasant, but isn't as grainy as I would have liked from a scrub, so it gets 4 stars from me. 3. The Result: I love the way this scrub makes my skin feel and smell. It really does work as an exfoliator which I wasn't expecting at all given the texture or the price! The scrummy smell stays on my skin and in the bathroom for hours afterwards and my skin really does feel like it's had a good decent scrubbing! Result gets 5 stars from me! Overall, this scrub is a fabulously fruity addition to your bathroom which has exceeded all my expectations. I love it and at around £2 full price for 200ml, I think it's fantastic value, and currently (24/09/2012) it is on offer for 99p so I have stocked up!
Being a massive fan of Dove products, when I discovered the new and improved haircare range in 2010 I knew I had to try it! And I have loved the whole range ever since, the Daily Care range being one of my faves. Here is my review for Dove Daily Care Conditioner: 1. The Smell This is one of the most important things to me. Now when I originally started using this range back in 2010, I expected it to smell of the typical soapy Dove smell, but it doesn't at all! It smells really light, fresh and quite fruity. It's lovely. Smell gets 5 stars from me. 2. The Application I LOVE the texture of this on my hair! It glides through every strand of my long, thick hair after using the matching shampoo. I always leave my conditioners in for a minute or two unless the bottle tells me to leave it in longer. This rinses out really really easily and the smell when rinsing this out fills the whole bathroom. Once rinsed, my hair feels silky smooth, which makes me confident that my hair will stay soft and smooth when I've left it to dry naturally. Application gets 5 stars from me. 3. The Result: This and the matching shampoo leaves my hair feeling amazingly soft and smooth. I have really long, thick, curly hair and this has tamed the frizz no problem, as well as sorting out my oily roots, and improving my dry, split ends whilst leaving my hair feeling totally weightless. I have never had any problems with an itchy scalp after using this range either, so I reckon this range would suit anyone, despite it being marketed at hose with normal hair. Result get 5 stars from me. Overall, this conditioner is a joy to use and for the price of around £2.50 (but Dove shampoos and conditioners are regularly on offer so do shop around) who can complain? The way this range makes my hair feel, it's worth double that amount! I love it and I'm sure you will too.
I first came across the new improved Dove haircare range in 2010 and have loved it ever since! One of my favourites from the range is the Daily Care shampoo and conditioner. So here is my review for Dove Daily Care Shampoo: 1. The Smell For me this is one of the most important things when choosing a shampoo and conditioner. When I first discovered this new range, I expected it to have the typical clean, soapy Dove smell so I was surprised when I smelt it for the first time. It smells really fresh, quite tropical and light. It really is lovely! Smell gets 5 stars from me. 2. The Lather Well the lather of this is quite impressive. It lathers really quickly and easily and it is incredibly thick, rich and the wonderful smell fills the whole bathroom. I'm always a little sad when the time comes to wash it out! It rinses out really easily too and I am left with a squeaky clean and can feel how soft my hair already is. Ahhh it's lovely. Lather gets 5 stars from me without a doubt! 3. The Result Firstly I must mention that I always follow a shampoo up with its matching conditioner and I always leave my hair to dry naturally. I can safely say that this combined with the conditioner leaves my long, thick, curly hair so so soft and so shiny, as well as feeling totally weightless. It has also improved the condition of my dry, split ends and oily roots. I have never experienced an itchy scalp after using this either. It's absolutely brilliant and it still surprises me to this day how amazing my hair feels after using this really cheap shampoo and conditioner for normal hair! Result gets 5 stars from me! Overall this is a fantastic shampoo for any hair type and at around £2.50 (or cheaper if you get it on offer which it is a lot of the time) for a 250ml bottle, it's worth a shot!
Having been a big fan of Tresemme products for a few years now, I was intrigued when I saw the adverts for the new Naturals ranges and thought 'I have to try that!'. So I took myself off to Boots and used my Advantage Card points to treat myself to the Nourishing Moisture shampoo and conditioner. So here is my review for Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Shampoo: 1. The Smell: This to me is one of the most important things when it comes to shampoos and conditioners. I love the smell of this. It definitely has floral notes to it and I can also smell fruit in there too. It's a wonderful smell that isn't one bit overpowering. Smell gets 5 stars from me! 2. The Lather: Again, another important factor when it comes to shampooing. I am genuinely amazed by the lather seeing as it is a low sulphate formula. It lathered brilliantly, covering every strand of my long, thick hair and I could tell it was doing a fantastic job as when I smoothed my bubbly hair down to detangle it, it felt silky smooth with no knots at all which is a big deal when you have curly hair like mine that has a tendency to become coarse! It rinsed out with total ease and the smell filled the whole bathroom. Lather gets 5 stars from me! 3. The Result: This is of course important. Now I have to mention that I always follow my shampoos with the matching conditioners so cannot comment on the shampoo alone. But I definitely could feel a difference in my hair's texture after I'd rinsed this shampoo out of my hair. And after conditioning my hair with the conditioner, when my hair had been left to dry naturally as usual, my hair was silky smooth, lightly fragranced, felt a lot stronger and wasn't in the slightest bit tangled or dry. And the shine was amazing! After using the shampoo and conditioner for 2 weeks solid, the change in my hair's texture was incredible. I put this down to the low sulphate formulation. Result gets 5 stars from me! Overall, this is a 5 star shampoo that gave my hair a complete new lease of life and I would definitely recommend to all my friends! Price wise a 500ml bottle of this can be bought for around the £4 mark in all good supermarkets and chemists.
One of the most important things in my daily skincare regime is a decent body moisturiser. A lot of the moisturisers I have tried in my time have taken forever to sink in which in itself I don't mind but when you're stuck for time, a faster absorbing lotion is more convenient. My skin is usually ok but can get a little dry at times, especially when its cold. One of my friends had recommended this very moisturiser to me days before I bought it so when spotted it in my local Co-op at half price, I picked up two. Here is my review for Nivea Express Hydration Body Lotion for Normal to Dry skin: 1. The Smell: For me this is the most important factor when choosing any smellies, be it body lotions, shower gels, face creams, deodorants or haircare. This has a really light fragrance with a fresh undertone to it, which I guess must be the Sea Minerals that Nivea list as the main ingredient in this. It doesn't fade when you apply it to your skin either which I find some moisturisers can, to my disappointment. Smell gets 4 stars from me. 2. The Application: This is very important when it comes to moisturisers. I mean nobody wants anything so runny it falls off your skin nor do they want a texture so thick its almost hard and therefore hard to apply do they? The consistency of this lotion is spot on in my opinion. It feels light and really does absorb very quickly and it feels moisturising on the skin as it rubs in very easily and a little goes a long way. I can get dressed almost instantly after applying this which is fab on those mad mornings where every second counts! It's perfect for me. Application gets 5 stars from me. 3. The Result: This is of course important. This lotion absorbs so quickly and leaves my skin silky soft and the softness lasts all day long. My skin has had a tendency to become dry of lately due to the cold weather and I must admit when I saw it was for normal to dry skin I wasn't holding that much hope this would improve the levels of moisture in my skin let alone last as long as it did so I am very impressed! Even when I get up the next morning I can feel a difference in how my skin feels! This product has really improved my skin's moisture levels big time since I started using it daily 2 weeks ago. Result gets 5 stars from me! Overall this is a fantastic body lotion from Nivea. I never expected it to be as moisturising as it is and I would recommend it to everyone I know! Price wise a 250ml bottle of this can be found for around the £3 - £4 mark which I feel does it justice, but this brand is often on offer in chemists and supermarkets so keep an eye open.
One of the horrid things about having autism (well in my experience) is my hyperactive sense of smell. This is so annoying at times, but also has its advantages. One of the advantages is that because I am so sensitive to smells, if I am feeling wobbly at all (which I am 90% of the time due to my clinical depression and post-traumatic stress disorder PLUS the autism! >:() one whiff of a nice smell can literally snap me out of a panic. One of the most effective smells to do this is lavender. And thanks to Body Shop, I can make sure I stay calm all because of this home fragrance oil. Here is my review for Body Shop Lavender Home Fragrance Oil: 1. The Smell This is the most important thing when it comes to home fragrance oils. This produces a very powerful aroma of lavender in case you hadn't guessed already lol! It is very strong and very calming for myself. Smell gets 5 stars. 2. The Application All I do to apply this is before bed every night I put a few drops on my pillow and a few more on my teddy bear (yes I know I'm 19 but hey, I can't sleep without her) and rub it in across my pillow and teddy, so the smell spreads. What I also do sometimes is if I'm having a shaky day, I put a drop or two either on my wrist or the end of my sleeve and on my collar or scarf on my neck and rub it in like you do perfume. I have never had any skin irritations doing this. It keeps me calm throughout the day. Sometimes it's also nice to put a few drops in a little tray or saucer next to some lit candles on an evening one day and the smell wafts across the room. I simply love the things you can do with this oil so the application gets 5 stars from me. 3. The Result This is of course important. I can tell you, the strength of the lavender in this de-stresses me almost instantly and really does help me drift off at night time. I say if you find the smell of lavender therapeutic as I do, then I suggest you try this oil. It is such amazing stuff and really does make such a positive difference to my anxiety levels, and I really believe it does genuinely help my various mental health problems too! Result gets 5 stars from me. Overall, this is a brilliant Godsend to me. I am just so glad I discovered it. Price wise this is only available from the Body Shop and is usually around £4.50 for a bottle. Plus the bottle lasts for ages so is great value.
Strictly come dancing has to be in my top three shows. It is fascinating to watch novice celebrities grow into real accomplished dancers. It's also all the more captivating to watch relationships develop into, in some cases, more than just a sound friendship ;). Here is my review for Strictly Come Dancing: 1. The Format Well the format of this show is a group of a celebrities all novices when it comes to ballroom and latin dancing. They are then paired with a professional dancer and taught by their partner how to dance a certain dance in the course of a week before then performing it to their best potential on the Strictly dancefloor live in front of the country's TV audience. The judging panel then review the couple's efforts and then score them out of 10 (though not always rationally but that's part of the fun!). At the end of the night, the country vote on who to keep in the competition. Then when all the votes are counted, the bottom two have to dance again, and the judges have to decide who to keep. Len is the head judge, so in the event of a tie, he has the deciding vote. 2. The Judges The judges are Craig Revel Horwood (the Simon Cowell of ballroom and latin dancing in my opinion!), Len Goodman (a proper Londoner who knows his ballroom and my personal fave), Alesha Dixon (who in my opinion needs to brush up on her elocution: 'you was really good tonight', and who replaced dear Arlene Philips) and finally Bruno Tonioli (an Italian joker who brings the humour to the show). 3. My View I love this show. I have watched all 8 series and now series 9 is here, I'm enjoying winding down to a nice cuppa and a bit of Strictly on my friday and saturday evenings. I personally think the best winners have to be Kara Tointon (she played Dawn on eastenders) and Artem last year, the chemistry between them was priceless and you do see some celebs on here that are plain awful, but then you get some that blow you away, if not always the ones you expect! Austin Healey and Darren Gough are good examples. A rugby player and a cricket player who excelled at the ballroom dances. Did not expect that! The only prob I have is the singing. I wish this show would take a leaf out of Dancing On Ice's book and play the song by who it's sung by, rather than by the awful singers on Strictly, particularly the woman! Put it this way, if any of the singers went on x factor, they'd get 4 No's straight away! Overall I do enjoy watching Strictly but the singing is yet to be desired!! It's on BBC One friday and saturday evenings, times vary sometimes.
One of the things most important to my skincare regime is a decent moisturiser. Being 18, almost 19, money is a bit tight so a moisturiser for me needs to not break the budget but also needs to deliver very good results. This moisturiser by Johnsons has been my preferred moisturiser for the past 4 years. Here is my review for Johnsons Daily Essentials Hydrating Day Cream for Normal Skin: 1. The Smell: For me, as with all toiletries and skincare, this is the most important factor. This smells sweet and creamy which is pleasant, however not as good as the old formula in my opinion (when it was called 24-Hour Moisture, which is when I started using it), which was a little lighter and more gentle in its smell. Smell gets 4 stars from me. 2. The Texture & Application: This is another important thing to me when it comes to moisturisers. Well, no-one wants a soaking wet moisturiser that falls off nor a sticky one that is really hard to apply do they? This day cream is silky smooth, though you do have to be careful when you put your finger in to take the stuff out though else you may take too much out. It is so easy to apply and smoothes your face perfectly. The smell comes out more when you apply it to your skin too. I simply LOVE the texture of this and how easy it is to apply! Texture & Application gets 5 stars from me! 3. The Result: This is of course important. This cream leaves my skin so so silky smooth and gives it a lovely glow that stays the whole day. In my experience, this cream keeps working all day and my skin just gets softer and softer. I think the claim of moisturising your skin for 24 hours is spot on. Plus all my girlfriends comment on how good my skin smells and how soft it looks. I love the results of this cream. This is a cream for normal skin though so wouldn't have the same results for really dry skin I don't think. But for my skin (normal/combination skin that can look rather dull), this is perfect so gets 5 stars from me! Overall, this is a top moisturiser that I will continue to use in the long-run. Even though I love to try new face creams, I ALWAYS come back to this! Price wise, this can be found for around the £4 mark which I think is superb value for the results it gives and a tub of this lasts me a good 5-6 months using it every morning.
I love Palmolive shower gels, particularly this flavour. Here is my review for Palmolive Naturals Nourishing Shower Milk: 1. The Smell: This, for me, is the most important factor when choosing body washes. This smells almost of vanilla and the colour is literally yellow! It's like custard in my opinion! It's a gorgeous smell that puts a big smile on my face everytime I use it. Smell gets 5 stars from me! In fact I'd give it 7 if it would let me, it's too perfect for even 6! 2. The Lather: This is another really important thing for me. This is one the best lathers I've ever experienced. It is so so creamy, so so thick, and so so scrummy in smell, it really will put a big grin on your face! This truly does produce an outstanding lather, so gets 5 stars from me, 6 if I was allowed! 3. The Result: This is of course important. This leaves my skin super super soft with the scrummy smell staying on my skin for a good few hours, which is fab in my opinion! One of the best body washes on the market in my opinion! Result gets 5 stars from me, 6 if I could! Price wise this can be found from around the £1.50 - £1.80 mark, nothing for what you get from it!
I bought this shampoo and conditioner because of the good things I'd heard about it from friends. Here is my review for Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Shampoo: 1. The Smell: For me, the most important factor when choosing a shampoo and conditioner. This smells fabulously fruity and creamy. Smell gets 5 stars from me! 2. The Lather: This is another important thing for me. This lathers well, however I found it took a while to rinse out, which ok some of my favourites have done, but it does mean it takes longer in the shower. This is fine for me but it does mean it results in nagging from the mother! Lather gets 3 stars from me. 3. The Result: This is of course important. I have naturally curly, very thick, frizzy hair just past my shoulders that I always leave to dry naturally and this left my hair so incredibly greasy and flat so it literally stuck to my head. Yuck! I had to use a deep cleansing shampoo for a week just to make my hair a little bit normal! Result gets 1 star from me. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this shampoo as it left my hair super greasy, but it did wonders for my 11 yr old sister's very long (almost to her bum!), fine, dead straight hair as I said earlier, it was recommended to me by a friend with similar hair to my sisters (though not quite as long) so maybe my hair just fell out with it lol?
I bought this shampoo and conditioner after hearing good things from my friends who all recommended it. Here is my review for Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Conditioner: 1. The Smell: For me, the most important thing when choosing a shampoo and conditioner. This smells divine, very fruity and creamy Smell gets 5 stars from me! 2. The Texture: This is important to me also. The texture of this is very rich and creamy, usually a good sign that your hair is going to be soft. However, this took ages to rinse out, which ok some of my favourite conditioners have done in the past, but it does mean added time to my already long shower, which doesn't please my mum very much! Texture gets 3 stars from me. 3. The Result: This is of course important. I have really thick, frizzy, naturally curly just past my shoulders and always leave to dry naturally. This made my hair feel very sticky whilst damp and when it was dry, it was so incredibly greasy and flattened all of my hair, so it literally stuck to my head. Yuck! It was so greasy, I had to use a deep cleansing shampoo and conditioner for one week solid just to make it a bit better! Result gets 1 star from me, and that's pushing it! Overall, having used this and the matching shampoo, I feel it left my hair so greasy, I wouldn't chance buying it again. Though it worked wonders on my 11 yr old sister's very long (almost to her bum!), fine, dead straight hair, and on my best friend's hair (similar, though not so long) so maybe my hair just didn't fall for it?
I love this conditioner. I have used it with the matching shampoo for almost 3 years now and I love it. Here is my review for Tresemme Colour Thrive Brunette Conditioner: 1. The Smell: This for me is the most important thing when choosing a shampoo and conditioner. This smells almost a little chocolatey and quite creamy. It's quite nice so gets 4 stars from me. 2. The Texture: This is the other really important thing when it comes to conditioners. This has a most wonderful texture. It's really creamy, thick and really coats every single strand of hair, right down to the last tip! I always leave my conditioner to soak for a minute or two, which is good seeing as it tells you to do this anyway! This does take a little longer than usual conditioners to rinse out, but it really does work! Texture gets 5 stars from me, 6 if I could! 3. The Result: This is of course important. I have very thick, frizzy, naturally curly and naturally dark brown (I'd say near espresso) hair just past my shoulders and always leave to dry naturally. After a couple of hours when my hair is dry, it is so silky soft and has way more shine to it than usual. I always use matching shampoos and conditioners so cannot comment if this is just the conditioner but I think it helps! Result gets 5 stars from me, 6 if I could! Overall, I really recommend this conditioner. It leaves my hair so soft and shiny, it's wonderful. Price wise, a 500ml bottle can be found at Boots for around the £3 mark, which I think is brilliant value.
I have used this shampoo and conditioner for almost 3 years now and it's one of my favourites. Here is my review for Tresemme Colour Thrive Brunette Shampoo: 1. The Smell: For me, the most important bit when choosing a shampoo and conditioner. This smells quite nice actually, almost chocolatey in a way and quite creamy. I think it's quite nice so I give it 4 stars. 2. The Lather: This is another really important thing when picking a shampoo. I like to know my hair is getting a good, deep clean. This lathers really well, really thick and rather creamy. It rinses out ok and I can also feel my hair has been smoothed. Lather gets 5 stars from me! 3. The Result: This is of course important. My hair is very thick, frizzy, naturally curly and naturally dark brown (almost espresso I would say) and I always leave it to dry naturally. So after a couple of hours when my hair is dry, I can feel it's silky soft and I feel it shines way more than usual. Also the smell stays on your hair, which is always nice. I always use matching conditioner with my shampoo so cannot comment on whether this is down to the shampoo alone, but I think it helps! Result gets 5 stars from me. Overall, this is a lovely shampoo that adds shine and softness to my hair. Thumbs up from me! Price wise a 500ml bottle can be found at Boots for around the £3 mark, which for the size you get is pretty good!
