I have really sensitive skin so tend to spend a lot of time researching products that won't irritate it further. I look for quality ingredients and always make sure no alcohol is involved. Because of this i have a few clinique products.
I really like clinique products and think the quality is great. This product is a bar of soap priced at £12 but does it live up to the clinique quality?
I didn't actually buy this product from the clinique counter I bought it from a Market stall for £7. I thought it was worth a try given that it was quite a saving from the initial price tag. I'm not sure quite how the stall got the clinique products but hay ho I gave it a go!
As always with clinique products this one was packaged beautifully and safely contained to prevent moisture getting to it.
The initial smell is pleasant and when you put it on your skin it isn't overpowering, something that is very important to me. I hate smelling soap on myself. The only thing I want to smell is my perfume.
When you lather up this soap it bubbles reasonably quickly and has a kind of richness to it. It glides onto your skin smoothly and cleans well. I just use my hands then clean off with a damp flannel. After the skin is left feeling fresh and clean. I would have liked a bit more moisturiser in this as it does dry out my skin unlike dove soap. Maybe that's because I have sensitive skin though.
I like this soap and keep it for my face although it can be used all over. The scent is nice and the cleaning power is good. I do think at full price it's a bit much as it certainly isn't a miracle soap and doesn't do masses more than a regular 50p dove soap.
This is another product from the Argos range. A range that offers quality useful products at the lowest price possible. I decided to purchase this product to protect my bike from the dust and dirt that accumulates in my garage. We seem to get quite a lot of dust and dirt in there because my husband chops wood and leaves it in there for our log burning fire. I got sick of wiping the seat and handlebars every time I used it.
This product is made from strong PVC and the sizes are as follows H 98cm, W 185cm, D 74cm. This should cover most bikes and motorbikes/scooters. The elasticated sizes ensure a snug fit and mean that dust and grime can't get round the outside. Velcro tabs keep the bottom closed and again protect it from dirt and grime.
If you keep your bike outside, the PVC cover is totally waterproof so protects the seat and handlebars from the elements. It also protects from pesky birds which might decide to leave their deposits on your bike! A quite wipe will remove any marks from the cover if required.
This product comes well packaged although once out of the packaging you have no chance of getting it back in! It comes with a short instruction sheet although it's quite easy to work out where to put it and how to fasten the velco straps.
If you're looking for a quick, cheap fix for your bike to keep it clean this is a great choice.
At £7.99 it is a great price to pay and another great product from argos. You can pay much more for one of these covers but why bother when this one does the Job just fine. Overall I think this is a great product and although simple it does exactly what it says on the tin.
I have long loved clinique products but am always put off by the price tag. This combined so many smaller make up products I couldn't resist.
Our flight was delayed by around 6 hours to turkey last year. We complained and were given some vouchers to spend either in the airport or on the plane. I decided to keep mine incase I was hungry on the plane. As I wasn't I decided to put them towards a gift for myself (afterall I had to wait 6 hours to go on my holiday!) the inflight brochure advertised the travel set at £25. A saving of around £10 I think. When putting my vouchers towards it I paid £21.
For this price you get 4 eyeshadows all of which are non-offensive and usable for every day wear. For nighttime on holiday I used the darker shade for a more dramatic look. You get a nice blusher, I particularly like the pink glow it gives on a tan. There are 4 lipstains one of which is a bit hookerish but the rest are fine. I don't use the foundation as I like liquid foundation for my dry skin but it looks ok. There is also a mascara which is ok but won't last very long as it's small and the wand is a little short.
The mirror runs the length of the case and is good quality. The case is also of typical clinique style and quality. The clasp is sufficient and won't open on it's own in your case or travel bag like some cheaper brands.
This is an ideal splurge purchase for a holiday or short trip away. Although you can't get rid of your make up bag completely you can definitely streamline it.
Overall a very good travel cosmetic.
We have enjoyed camping for many years now and have frequently changed the equipment we use. Each year new products come onto the Market that are a little advanced than the last. Prices also seem to be coming down on these items as more competition from non specialist camping shops such as the larger supermarkets pushes them down.
This sleeping bag is £22 from Tesco direct. Recently Tesco have offered clubcard points redemption on direct products, they offered these at double value making this product £11. If you use Tesco alot these deals are well worth having. Delivery is extra but if you live near a large Tesco store you can collect for free. This is what I tend to do. It will take around 4-5 days but just simply take your printed receipt with your credit or debit card to the customer service desk.
This sleeping bag comes well packaged with info about the product. It is clearly well made and I am confident Tesco offer products which are rigourously tested to ensure they are fit for purpose.
I am kept really warm in spring and summer but for camping in the autumn i tend to take an extra blanket. The mummy style does tend to keep in a lot of the heat.
The zip is well made and moves smoothly around the bag without catching. The stitching is also strong and doesn't come away like some other low priced sleeping bags.
At 220cm it is sufficiently long enough for a reasonably tall man although it does get a little Cosy at the bottom so people with large feet may be a little uncomfortable! If you like to stretch your legs out this is also probably not the product for you.
Overall this is a great camping buy for the occasional to moderate camper!
I had been doing aerobics for around 6 months before buying my own step. We used them at class and I wanted one to continue working out at home. When deciding on a step I wanted one that could change heights so this one was ideal. My fitness video is also reasonably strenuous so I wanted something strong and durable and something that would last.
This step was available from our local sports shop at Less than half price, £19.99. I'm not sure if they can still be purchased online but if you find one they are definitely worth £20. They also come with a 1 year guarantee which gives piece of mind, although not much can really go wrong with this product.
Although made out of plastic it is still really strong and it looks like it has been designed by someone who actually knows something about fitness and the necessities of a fitness step.
It comes in a box with instruction sheet and extra blocks to raise the height. Assembly is simple, slot the blocks into the holders underneath. To raise the height simply add more blocks underneath, they hold firm due to their design. Even on the highest level it stays stable as the blocks are quite wide.
The top plate is of a good size and has ridges in the name and outer parts for grip. Not only can you use this step for stepping on you can also use it for sit ups and push ups.
For storage simply remove the blocks and slide under the settee or bed. As it isn't a totally ott offensive colour it shouldn't be visible and stick out like a sore thumb.
Overall this is a good product and much better than some of the steps available in non specialist sports shops. I can recommend.
I often ride my bike to work (living just a mile away) and often I have to travel at dusk or dark. After a few months of doing it without lights I decided to buy a set with my dooyoo miles. I searched amazon and found the krypton set advertised for just £4.99. I didn't expect them to be brilliant but I thought they would do the basic job.
The box these come in is ok with a little info on the outside. The protective packaging is good and the product cant move around before opening. Included is also an instruction booklet, simple but has all relevant info including how to attach the included brackets. Instructions for working the lights is also good.
Although the brackets are strong and suitable for their purpose the actual lights themselves are made from a very cheap plastic. I was wary when attaching them as I didn't want them to buckle, crack or break. Because of this they arnt on perhaps as tight as they should be and wiggle slightly when going down a kerb
Battery life is short although they do come with a set of batteries. I use rechargeable ones which are better and cost me less. As I don't go very far I'm not too bothered that they don't last too long. I only need to recharge every 2 weeks or so. For people making longer journeys this product might be insufficient in terms of battery life and messing to change batteries more often.
The brightness of this product is the major downfall. They really arnt bright. It is enough to be seen and reflectors on the product do help but it really should be brighter to serve it's purpose well.
Overall this is ok for me but for daily commutors on bike or people who travel a long distance I wouldn't recommend.
Every golfer must have tried one of these in their lifetime. This is the Longridge putting machine available from a number of retailers including amazon for £10.
I bought this product with my dooyoo miles as I love playing crazy golf at the seaside but my husband always beats me! I thought this would be great to use with his putter. We also recently moved into a house with a perfectly flat back garden, perfect for putting!
We can set up a "challenge" in the garden now with obstacles and a hole (the putting machine). We put down piping and clothing to make a crazy golf hole then take turns. There is always a punishment for the loser such as having to make the teas for the night! (how sad are we!) we also do this with boules and apple smash.
The machine itself is well packaged with instructions that are simple to follow. The only item you need to purchase for this product is batteries which arn't included.
To use this product simply insert batteries and place on the floor (on a flat surface). Strike the ball towards the machine. If successful the ball will be spat back out towards you. It works by sensing the weight of the ball. Once sensed a motor controls a small rod that propels the ball back in the direction it came from. Depending on the surface e.g. Grass or wood depends on how far the ball will travel back.
This product is well made from tough plastic and the batteries last a long time. You know when they are running low as the mechanism starts to whine a little and return the ball slower and at a slower pace.
Overall this is a great product for a beginner golfer. Probably not something a professional would buy but a good bit of fun all the same.
I bought this as part of a set from the Mamas and Papas website. I paid around £400 for the package. I had already tried out the buggy in the shop and liked it. The sales assistant said the buggy can come as a travel package with carrycot, buggy and car seat (all of which fit onto the pram).
I always do plenty of research 1st before I do anything but on this occasion I feel I should have looked at the car seat in a shop somewhere 1st.
The car seat looks great on first impression. Black comfortable fabric, nicely padded with a neck support. The fastenings for the baby look safe and cannot be undone by little hands. It is also virtually impossible for a child to slip out of position.
The instructions that come with the buggy are clear and informative. A couple of practice gos with the isofix Points before the baby was born and we were hooked up to the fixings in the car. This seat can go in most modern cars with car seat fittings. They are a standard size.
When we 1st put baby in the car seat we were happy with the ride. As he was small he fitted in fine and was able to snuggle into the fabric. A few months on he wasn't appearing so comfy although I'm not sure if it was him not liking to be strapped in. The straps do adjust for larger babies but as this product says it is suitable unto 13 months I don't think they are sufficient for this age. We bought another at 11 months which he was much more comfortable in.
Another problem with this product is the weight. I know all car carriers are heavy but this seems one of the heaviest! Whether this is because it needs extra stuff to fit to the buggy I'm not sure. You will certainly have a bad back if you spend too long with it on your arm. Because of this and other factors it tended to stay in the car a lot of the time. I preferred to take the pram attachment or a baby carrier.
Overall I would choose a different car seat. The buggy and carrycot are great but this let's it down.
Since becoming pregnant yoga has become my weekly choice of exercise. Particularly in later pregnancy when I could barely move! I have always been an active person so thought yoga would be a bit tame for me. In actual fact it gives a great workout.
I bought this product from Debenhams for £10 with a voucher I received for our wedding. As we have wooden floors I needed one to put in front of the tv (I was too shy to attend a proper yoga class the size I was). For £10 you get the mat and a handy carry case. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get the mat back in the bag after use as it looked a tight sqeeze. In actual fact it wasn't too bad.
When rolled out the mat lays flat and doesn't curl up like some cheaper mats. It also stays firm to the ground so when you stretch it isn't sliding all over.
I do yoga at least once a week so £10 has been well spent. It is a simple product but it is well designed and made. This would be more than appropriate to take to a yoga class as it is sturdy and professional looking.
I didn't spend too long looking for a yoga mat but I know there are loads out there ranging massively in price. This is a great 1st mat as if you don't continue using the DVD or going to the class you haven't wasted too much money.
It is wipe clean for hygiene so sweat and water/Ribena in my case can be easily removed.
Overall I think this is a good product although I've never seen Louis Spence using it on Pineapple Studios!
This product is a top of the range day cream. There are a lot of day creams on the market today but this is one from a leading brand with a hefty price tag of £40 full price.
I was lucky enough to get a sample through the post in a little sachet. I was very impressed on using it and so when I got the smaller pot in a gift package from Clarins I was excited to use it more regularly.
Active ingredients include a product called stimulen which is suppost to offer protection for immune cells and aid skin renewal. Soft wheat proteins are suppost to give a lift to your skin and euglena helps to firm and energise. Other ingredients are suppose to reduce the pollutants from your skin put their from the atmosphere. Big claims.
This product is designed for the over 40s but everyone from their mid 20s should have a good day cream. As everyone knows moisturising well helps keep skin elastic. This product can be used by people much younger than 40.
The pot is quite expensive looming and as with all Clarins products is well packaged. Instructions on use are provided within.
When you open the pot you see quite thick White cream. It has a subtle smell again like all Clarins products. You will need around 2 fingertips worth per application. Massage into the skin in circles, this is to aid blood flow to the cappileries in the facial area. Don't forget creases around the nose.
This product can be used on all skin types. I have sensitive skin and it doesn't irritate it like some other moisturisers or aftersuns.
Once on leave for a few minutes before applying make up. You will feel your skin begin to tighten slightly. I like this feeling because I feel the product is working somewhat. You must leave it a few mins before putting make up on as the oils needs to be absorbed. If you don't make up will slide. Also, it is very difficult to apply eyeliner if this product is not dry, it simply won't take.
Overall I like this product but it is very expensive full size. It does keep the skin hydrated well but you would have to ask me in 20 yeears if it works!
This Childs electric toothbrush is available from a number of retailers such as curries, amazon and asda. Prices vary but expect to pay around £14.
I bought mine from currys and my little one really likes using it. It comes fully packaged in colourful packaging with the character clearly visible. There are a number of characters to choose from for both boys and girls. The instructions included are simple and easy to follow.
Charging this product is easy in the holder it comes with. Charging overnight gives around enough power for a week (brushing twice a day).
The head on this toothbrush is pretty small as it's designed for small mouths but this does mean that kids squeezing toothpaste on sometimes miss!
At first my little one was unsure how to use this product and refused to put the brush part on their teeth. My husband had to use it 1st but one he did he was fine. I think it will take most kids a few tries to get used to this product but once they do their teeth will be in much better health.
This product has a good named brand behind it and so far ours has lasted a year - not bad for the money. It comes with a warranty so if anything was to go wrong In those 1st few months you could return it.
Overall I like this product and think it would be a good 1st electric toothbrush for a child. Just be careful your bathroom isn't covered in toothpaste!
I have a food processor already but I find it difficult to clean all the parts that require cleaning. Some are just too bulky and when put in the dishwasher don't clean properly enough.
I saw this product at asda and thought why not for £5. The packaging is totally unappealing but then it does suggest to you that this is a no frills product and that it will do just what it's basically designed to do. As with most asda basics products the box simply has the products name, a picture and some basic specifications. Once you open the package it is well stored with an instruction sheet. This is very easy to follow and it was nice not to gave to trawl through a book.
To operate this product simply plug in and switch on. Press the correct switch for the speed you want (this product only has 2 speeds fast or slow). Although the blender only has two speeds I have found this enough for our families needs.
To blend make sure you have a high sided dish as when blending juice can go pretty high and you don't want to decorate your Walls! For baby food I do batches. There wouldnt really be enough food to blend for 1 serving. This of course can be frozen.
Soups are really easy. Bung ingredients in a high sided bowl or jug and let it do it's magic. Heat on the hob for 20mins or so and hey presto homemade soup!
To clean this product simply unplug and swill in warm water or alternatively leave plugged in and switch to low power when dipped in water.
Overall a great product for a busy mum that doesn't want to spend hours cleaning up expensive appliances with numerous attachments and gadgets you never use. Can't go wrong for a fiver!
This interesting luggage set was available from Argos last year. It is no longer in stock but can be picked up from eBay. The sale price I paid was £30 and that was just before the summer holidays which I thought was great. I was after something cheap and cheerful after looking at my old case a few weeks before going away I decided the scruffy case had come to the end of it's life and threw it out. I knew Argos did great value so looked through their catalogue and found this set. As we go on Ryanair quite a bit I thought the middle sized case would come in very handy as well as the larger one for family trips.
The sizes are as follows large case - 26in x 18in. Smaller case 18in x 14in. Holdall 18in wide. The larger case is suitable for 2 adults plus a child travelling reasonably lightly. The smaller case is ample for a 2-3 day break for 1 person. The holdall will do 1 person for a few nights away. Inside the cases are straps to hold your luggage in place and a large pocket to hold toiletries or other items.
The wheels on the 2 cases are made of plastic and are ok but not brilliant. Make sure you pack evenly or it may tip from side to side.
The handles are ok. Comfortable to hold but not particularly long. As a tall person it can give you back ache as you have to bend slightly. If you are over 6ft I wouldn't recommend.
This is a very Girly item but it is ideal if you want a bit of fun to stand out in the crowd. Beware though your husband probably won't carry it so pack lightly!
I occasionally splurge on make up and skincare. More expensive products sit alongside cheaper ones in my make up bag. I do however feel a good base is so important so a great foundation is crucial. This is even more true if you have sensitive skin or skins conditions such as acne or rodesha.
I have been wearing foundation since my teens. From the cheapest of the cheap - fine when you're 16 and don't mind the just been tangoed look! To the current expensive guerlain foundation that balances out imperfections and different colouring. I think most people go through numerous foundations before finding one they are happy with.
I bought this product from my local beauticians. At £30 it is expensive but I had had a makeover 1st and was shown exactly how to apply the product. When I looked at my skin in the mirror I was really impressed so bought it. I don't often do this but on this occasion I treated myself.
The product is a liquid system that is very light when put on the skin. It feels almost whipped. You don't need a lot of this product to give good coverage. However for a night out I put quite a bit on to give my skin a flawless look.
I always choose a shade darker than my own skin to give it a bit of a glow. One good point with this foundation is that it doesn't look orange, even in bright day light.
This product lasts around 8hours unless you sweat a lot. If you do it's likely to last only 4 or 5. For very oily skin I would apply more often or go for a powder option. As my skin is quite dry I need a liquid foundation.
Overall I like this product and use it daily. It is expensive though and although good I don't think I've found my perfect foundation as yet.
This is another CLARINS product. Top of the range in terms of skin care with a top of the range price tag too. The usual price is around £14 however I picked mine up in our local House of Fraser outlet store for £9.90.
I have tried a range of blemish spot on treatments but none have really helped. I've even tried just witch Hazel on it's own as it's suppose to cool the skin and reduce redness. This didn't work and made my skin cool but no better. This product is designed to reduce blemishes by reducing redness and irritation. It also is said to reduce spots with it's active ingredients such as witch Hazel and zinc.
Ive had this product for around 6 months now and use it when I have a break out. Using it is simple, a roller ball on the top helps direct the product to the right place. It also ensures an even distribution. The ball spins freely and is well designed. The tiny amount that comes out is sufficient and means you will gets lots of use out of this product.
I was really optimistic when I bought this product thinking because it cost a lot more than other spot on treatments it would be a miracle fix. Unfortunately I don't think a miracle cure exists for spots and breakouts. This product does however reduce redness and irritation. It also leaves the area cooler and less itchy. This is important for me as I put make up over the top. Another good point is that when you do put make up over the top it doesn't slide off as the product isn't too greasy or oily.
For my very sensitive skin I think this will be as good as it gets for a blemish treatment stick. It won't get rid of spots in an instant or even overnight for me but it will reduce irritation and redness. Because of this it isn't a purchase I regret.
