The scanner on my last printer broke suddenly and I needed to buy a new printer as soon as possible. I looked around for something cheap and found this printer on Ebay for around £20. Bargain or so I thought! It didn't come with any ink so I looked around to see how much the ink was to buy first. It was quite expensive as it takes four cartridges and they were about £8 each, so it seems that the ink would cost more than the printer. So I thought twice about buying the printer, as it seemed the ink was going to work out very expensive. But then I found one for about £30 that came with ink. It said that they were not Epson cartridges but that they were compatible. So I decided to go for it and bought the printer for approximately £30 with ink thinking that I would be able to carry on buying the cheaper more compatible cartridges when they ran out.
The printer came and I was happy with it. It looked nice and it was easy to set up. However, after using it a few times it came up with an error saying that I needed to insert genuine Epson cartridges. It seemed that the printer knew that they weren't Epson and refused to work until they were replaced with Epson cartridges!!! So, Epson clearly sell their printers cheaply knowing that they are going to make a fortune off you when you buy their ink!
So, the cheap printer that I bought has not turned out to be cheap, as it costs a fortune to replace the ink. If you don't print very much then it would probably be ok for you but I do print quite a lot and it gets me down every time I have to fork out all that money just for ink.
I bought this Chiminea because I thought that it would look good in my garden but have since realised that it is much more than an ornamental addition to my garden.
It is excellent for keeping you warm on an evening, when it starts to get a bit cooler. It is also great for cooking on in place of a barbecue but you can't cook too much in one go.
I paid about £70 for this Chiminea and have since seen the same sort of thing at a much higher price, so I think I got it at a good price.
It comes in pieces, so you have to assemble it but it was quite straight forward and did not take very long to do.
You can use this Chiminea to burn wood or charcoal. We have mainly used it for wood, as we have had loads of wood hanging around after DIY works that we have been doing to the house. So it has been a good way of getting rid of the wood rather than trailing it all down to the tip. I have used it with charcoal when I have cooked on it and it cooked just as well as a charcoal barbecue.
The Chiminea looks good when its lit and is even a decorative addition to your garden when its not. It gives off a great amount of heat when it is lit and we have sat around it for hours on a summer evening.
I am so glad we bought it, as we have used it loads over the summer.
I bought this netbook just over a year ago, as my previous laptop had died a death. I thought it would be ideal to sit with on my knee doing my college work or surfing the net whilst I watched television.
I don't know that much about computers but thought that this would be ok for me as I only needed it for surfing the net, checking my emails and typing up assignments for college. But I was clearly wrong! As soon as I started using it I found it was very slow. I didn't think it was possible for it to be slower than my old laptop, that was years old but it was! It was so slow, it was actually painful!
I really wish that I had not bought this netbook and had got myself something completely different. I do not know much about computers, so I don't know if all netbooks are this slow but I do know that I would never buy a netbook again, as this has completely put me off. I think it is probably just that it has a very low memory but I do not know who this would be suitable for.
To be fair it is a nice looking netbook and its great for sitting on your lap for hours, as it is so light weight but the memory on it is just too low for me. I feel like I have wasted my money buying this and I am glad that it was not expensive. However, I completely gave up on using it after a couple of months and have been using my desktop PC instead. I am now looking to buy a new laptop and this time I will definately be doing my research before I part with my cash.
I previously had another docking system for my iPod but it wasn't that great and after seeing this one in action at a friends house, I decided to purchase it myself.
You can get this docking system in either black or white and it looks good in both but I have it in black and I think it looks quite nice on display. The system is quite small and lightweight and is very reasonably priced.
The sound quality is good but not amazing but if you were looking for amazing sound quality, then you would spend a lot more on a docking station. I use these in my bedroom, so they are just ideal and I have also taken them on holiday, where they were great for listening to music in the hotel room. They don't take up much room in your suitcase, so they are perfect for holidays.
I would recommend this docking system to someone who wants to listen to music in their bedroom, kitchen or other small room, where they are not bothered about amazing sound quality. I would also recommend it for taking on holiday with you, as it is a perfect compact size to fit in your suitcase.
After spending a lot of time, money and effort turning my garden from a deserted wasteland in to a gorgeous retreat (ok, slight exaggeration), I decided it was time to upgrade my lawnmower from a cheap tesco effort (that I had to rake the grass up afterwards) to a nice posh one (that picks the grass up for you). So I decided to purchase the Flymo Chevron 32VC. I bought this mainly because I know that it is a good brand and this particular model seemed to do everything that I wanted a lawn mower to do, without being stupidly expensive.
It is a really lightweight electric lawn mower that even I find very easy to use. It has a roller at the back that gives your lawn those lovely stripes (that my other half seems to think are very important). It also has a 1200 watt motor and a 32cm metal cutting blade. It allows you to choose the height you want your grass from three different options by easily adjusting a lever. The heights range from 20mm - 60mm.
The Flymo Chevron 32VC has a large grass collection box (29 litres), which is big enough for my medium sized garden. It also has a nice long (10 metre) cable, so it is easy to mow your lawn without tripping over the cable.
I think this an excellent buy. There are cheaper lawn mowers out there but some of them are a lot harder to use and you end up exhausted after mowing the lawn. It can also take you a lot longer to get a good finish with a cheaper mower. With this lawn mower I get a great finish with very little effort. I must admit it is usually my other half that mows the lawn but on the odd occasion that I do, I find it very easy. So, it is probably a great lawn mower for a weak woman like myself.
Also, because it is a Flymo product you know that it is a good quality product and that it should last for a long time.
I am more than happy with my choice of new lawnmower.
This microwave is very reasonably priced but is a really good looking addition to your kitchen. It comes in several different colours - red, black, white, cream and purple. Swan also do kettles and toasters to match the microwaves, so your kitchen can look really stylish at a great price.
The microwave has six different power levels including a defrost function. It has two silver knobs for the power levels and the timer and a silver pull handle to open it.
It is perfect for everything I need a microwave for; heating, cooking and defrosting. However, if you are looking for something more from your microwave it may be a bit basic for you. The only thing that I can think of as a negative is that is is quite noisy when you are using it. Not majorly so but I would say it was noisier than previous microwaves I have owned.
But overall this is a lovely addition to my kitchen and I am definately going to be buying the matching kettle and toaster to go with it.
Recently we have had to make cut backs in our house, so I have found myself trying a lot of supermarket value brands. Now there are some things that I just won't buy as a value brand like cereals and bread and beans. But toilet roll is not one of those things.
As far as I am concerned toilet roll is there to do a job and then it is flushed down the toilet so why would you want to spend a lot of money on it especially if you are trying to save money?
For a four pack of tesco value toilet roll it costs about £1.30 and it lasts for a week in my house (just the two of us) so I am happy. It probably doesn't last as long as a more expensive brand would.
Yes it isn't as soft as some of the other brands out there but it does its job and thats all that matters, as far as I am concerned.
The only annoying thing about it is that its hard to start a roll off and you just end up ripping it open but what do you exoect from value toilet roll??
I had a Dyson hoover for many years and to be honest I was never particularly impressed with it. I only bought it as I thought they were meant to be good. Anyway, I couldn't justify buying a new one just because I didn't like my Dyson.
However, I used a friends 'Henry' hoover and could not believe how powerful the suction was on it. It made my Dyson look like a kiddies hoover!! So I decided I would invest in a new hoover and went out to buy a 'Henry'. But when I saw the 'Hetty' I fell in love and decided I had to have this really cute pink girlie hoover. Sad? I know!!
Hetty is exactly the same as Henry except she is pink. She has two speed settings and different tools to enable you to get in to all your nooks and crannies. The suction is so good that my carpets actually lift up when I am using it. It is light and easy to maneuver and is even easy to use on the stairs as it has a nice long cable. She comes with replacement bags but you can use reusable bags in it, if you want.
This is actually the best hoover I have ever owned and the fact that it is girlie pink just makes it for me. However, I can't see me being able to persuade my other half to take it outside the house and clean the car out with it.
I recently bought this strimmer as my old strimmer broke. I had a cheap no brand strimmer previously and wasn't very impressed with it, so decided I would buy a Flymo this time. I went for the mini strimmer as I thought it would take up less room in my already dangerously over-packed shed.
I had this strimmer for £29 but I believe you can get it a lot cheaper elsewhere, so I probably paid too much. But I would say it was worth the money that I paid for it.
The strimmer comes in three parts but is very easy to put together and only took me a couple of minutes. It also has an automatic line feed which makes it faster to put the line through.
The strimmer is easy to use. It just has one button to press when you turn it on and then you press it again to turn it off. In my opinion it does a great job. It is very lightweight and easy to use. Its perfect for a medium sized garden like mine and I wouldn't expect much more from a strimmer at that price.
My oven decided to break down on me a few months ago and I was not in a position to buy a new one at the time and did not know what to do. Someone suggested one of these halogen ovens and to be honest I had never even heard of them before. However, I found I was able to get one from E-bay for £25 so after reading up about them on-line I thought why not.
The first thing I made in it when it came was a cake (from the recipe book that came with it) and it was excellent!! I then cooked a chicken and a joint of pork - both were fantastic! You can cook absolutely anything in it - toast, pizza, chips, cakes and even frozen meals.
It is very big and you would need to have room in your kitchen to store it, as it would probably take up a whole kitchen cupboard. It is easy to clean as it has its own self-cleaning setting. So overall it was a good buy. There are quite a few halogen oven cookbooks available out there as well if you need some inspiration.
I don't know if I will continue to use this oven when I have replaced my full size oven but in the mean time it is an excellent substitute. So for someone who cannot afford an oven or maybe someone living in a bedsit or student accomodation it would be absolutely perfect.
I recently upgraded my phone from a Blackberry to the HTC Wildfire S and I absolutely love it. It took me a while to get used to it, as I haven't had a touch screen phone for a few years now. However, now that I have got used to it, I am really glad I made the decision to get it. At the same time as I got this phone, my partner got the HTC Sensation but I decided not to go for that as I wanted a more compact phone. To be honest the HTC Sensation is probably a little bit better and has slightly more features but this phone is more than good enough for what I need.
The applications that you can install are great and the majority of them are free. I have downloaded a couple of applications that I had to pay for. However, when I changed my mind about them I was very pleased to see that when I deleted them from my phone I was refunded what I paid for them and I did not expect that! You can get applications for absolutely anything you could think of.
The camera is really good and takes excellent quality photos. However, the flash is very bright and causes red eye, if you are inside. But thats not a massive issue to me, as I have a camera for taking photos.
Other than that its a great little phone that can withstand being dropped and bashed around. The only issue I have with the phone is I have to charge it every night, as the battery is not that good. Also, if I use the phone a lot during the day, I might even have to charge it half way through the day. However, I think that is probably an issue with all HTC phones, as my partner has the same problem with his HTC Sensation.
I would recommend this phone to anyone,
This book is a rollecoaster of emotions and I admit to crying my eyes out from practically cover to cover. I am not really a religious person but I was brought up in a very religious family so I do believe but not to the extent of my parents. My parents bought me this book when I was going through a really bad patch in my life and I think they were hoping it would help me get back my belief. This is not quite what happened but it does make you question things.
The book is a christian book but I don't think you need to be religious to enjoy it. I loved this book and have recommended it to quite a few friends who have also really enjoyed it.
Without ruining the story the book is basically about a guy who loses his daughter which makes him question his faith. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit then appear in his life in different forms (An African woman, a Middle Eastern man and an Asian woman). The book is mainly about his conversations with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and how they lead him to discover where his daughters body is and to the killer being arrested.
Definately worth a read whether you believe in God or not
I have tried many many different foundations over the years. I have tried very very expensive ones and cheaper ones but Revlon ColorStay is definatly the one for me. It does exactly what it says on the bottle and it stays on your face all day. If your skin tends to get a little bit oily as the day goes on you will be used to your foundation just disapearing like mine used to. But with this foundation is does stay put. It stays put better than expensive brands that claim that is what they can do! And at approx £12.50 a bottle this is not an expensive foundation but then again it is not a cheap one but it is worth every penny. I have used this foundation for many years and I love it. I do admit though that I do sometimes try others but I still go back to it. I have even had a few compliments about how nice my skin looks when I wear this foundation and have been asked what foundation I use. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone. It comes in a lovely thick glass bottle that would be pretty impossible to smash and you apply it with your fingertips or you could pour it on to a sponge, if you prefer. The colour I use is buff and its a lovely colour with no trace of orange like in a lot of other foundations. Definately worth a try.
I have had loads of different brands of phones in the past but I always went back to Nokia and never felt anything compared to Nokia until I got my Blackberry. I've got the purple one that I believe is exclusive to O2 and I love it. I must admit when I first got it I found it very confusing to use. The book that comes with it doesn't cover everything that you can do with the phone and I have never had that with a previous phone, so I found that very frustrating. But once I figured it all out it is very easy to use. The screen is large and clear so it is good for using the internet on it. You are also able to download app's like facebook, e-bay and paypal for free and there are quite a few games you can also download for free. Couldn't be happier with it.
I had an old iPod and to be honest there was nothing wrong with it apart from that the battery didn't last very long. So because I was going on a long flight and I knew the battery wouldn't last all the way I decided to upgrade to the Nano 4th generation. I picked the purple one and it looks absolutely amazing. The display screen is very bright and clear to look at and if you rotate the iPod it rotates the screen too. I have put 600 plus songs on mine and there is still room for loads more. There are also some games on there and you can put photos on too but I haven't done yet, so don't know how much room they take up. The sound quality is great, it looks great and it fits plenty of songs on it so its perfect as far as I am concerned.
