Rat Race, what an amazingly funny, side splitting film recently released by Pathe, directed by Jerry Zucker and written so well by Andrew Breckman. Before letting you in on the brilliant plot just wanted to mention the stars that feature in the latest and greatest comedy of 2002. The film includes John Cleese, a casino big cheese in the heart of Las Vegas who has this zany idea in which big spenders bet on contestants of a new race. However the race isn?t, as it would seem, as it doesn?t concern dogs or even horses. The racers . . . are HUMANS. The contestants include Whoopi Goldberg, Cuba Gooding Jr., Kathy Bates, Amy Smart, Breckin Meyer, Seth Green, Jon Lovitz and last but not least the incredible, Rowan Atkinson, an Italian origin narcoleptic who somehow ends up catching a lift with a delivery man of a human heart which kinda gets lost along the way. Don?t ask! You?ll have to see it to believe the stupidity. Each contestant listed above is handed a key by Donald Sinclair (John Cleese ? with the extremely horse-like gnashers) and told about $2million which is kept in a red holdall in a locker in another part of America. The first one to reach the money gets to keep it. Rules? Not one! Sounds simple you won?t believe the meal that?s made out of it by the group. Absolutely hilarious. There are un-imaginably wacky situations, which include mad medics, furious helicopter pilots, theft of Nazi museum pieces, an unusual bus tour, a rocket car ride, a disgraced referee, and a hot air balloon and a cow. Oh yeah and ?The Squirrel Lady?. That?s my interpretation of zany and don?t know what is if that isn?t. HA HA HA. I swear you?ll be rolling on your sides if you can bear to watch the fun and games. An amazing 111 minutes of comedy and definitely not a film to pass up. Just wait for the ending you won?t believe it. Quite a surprise. Rated a 12 makes Rat Race a great film for most to watch and you can but all love it. Top knotch from Mr Zucker a
nd the cast!
Turning the rare sequel trick and surpassing the original, Rush Hour 2 returns Chris Tucker, Jackie Chan and all of the culture clash shenanigans that made the original film a success. It marries that fun base a slightly stronger story, action that better highlights Chan's martial arts skills and a finer supporting cast. The result is a fun film that is certain to please fans of the original and may win a few new converts along the way. The film takes place three days after the events in Rush Hour. Detective Inspector Lee (Chan) and LAPD Detective James Carter (Tucker) are in Hong Kong, ostensibly on vacation, when an explosion at the US consulate thrusts them into the investigation of a global, multimillion dollar conspiracy. Taking a cue from the original, the pair are instructed to stay away from the investigation by the US Secret Service. Of course, being dedicated cops and this being their movie they don't and what follows is all the intrigue, fish-out-of-water humor, and crisp action necessary for a successful summer action comedy. Joining Tucker and Chan, who again work very well together, is a fun supporting cast that includes Don Cheadle, Alan King, John Lone and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon's Zhang Zhiyi. Cheadle's cameo appearance is a funny highlight, but the real supporting kudos go to Zhang. Playing a venomous hitwoman, she pulls off the role with style, bringing the necessary physical skills, loads of charm and enough screen presence to stop an elephant. Definitely recommend this film for a great watch so rush to the cinema now!
WWW.uboot.com is quite a recent website which has been blasted into the world wide web and in my opinion has much to offer to all Internet surfers. A short description would be that it's an sms messaging website which allows you to send text messages to any phone on any network.. for FREE. Uboot has so much else to offer though. To begin, how to start using the website. Obviously the address is www.uboot.com, when the page appears you'll be asked to choose a country, at the moment there's only osterreich, deutschland and the UK to choose from however but i suppose that's because different countries have different band widths and signals for their phones. Once you enter the site, you'll see a well layed out website. The use of colours of black, white, orange and green make the website attractive, modern and really hit you. Also you can see clearly all that uboot has to offer because there isn't too much on the page that you don't know where to read from. It's really pleasing to the eye. You need to register as a uboot member but it costs nothing at all and takes practically two minutes if that, which is great! There's just a few questions which ask you to create your own nickname and password so that you can login to the site. Then you'll be asked for your mobile telephone number, if you have one. However it doesn't matter if you dont have one, and that's basically it, you're then a uboot member and can start enjoying the site. Once you've logged in, the member's home page appears. On the left hand side of the screen you'll find 5 links under the title of ubox. This is your personal uboot space where you can receive incoming messages, send messages, make alterations in your own web-based address book and organise your folders, these are the titles; inbox, send sms, send mail, address book, folders. On uboot, not only can you send free but also anonymous text m
essages up to the character count of 160, but you have your own email address also so you are able to send and receive emails aswell. Also it's a nice short email address. It will be; firstname.lastname@example.org. which is a bit easier than one of those @blahblahblah.co.uk..... don't you think. Still talking about the homepage, it gets better. With uboot there are lots of weird and wacky services including competitions, for example a recent prize was a holiday to Ibizzaaaaaa! which you can enter, also there's a message wall giving you the latest news on uboot for example a competition winner and at the moment you can order some uboot merchandise for example t-shirts, a cap or a trendy lomo camera. Cool or what??? Not only does uboot have all this to offer but it also has it's own set of chatrooms which are categorised. The chatroom is easy to navigate around however i have found that many members use it so the conversation is half way up the screen before you have time to read it. A bit quick for me i think but still fun. You also have a member search and a help option if there's something you're unsure about. I needed to ask a question so contacted them on email@example.com and i received a reply in just a day. They're on the ball alright! Coming back to the sms messaging and the address book. It's very handy, as far as i know you can add as many entries as you desire and there's also a buddylist where you can add say 10 of the people from your address book if you needed to send multiple copies of a message. With this service though i beleive a small fee is required but i'm sure it's explained in the help menu. I think it's something like 10p, which would be the average amount to send one message from your mobile, depending on which network you're on. On uboot you can also tell other users a bit about yourself if youlike by creating your own 'nickpage', this is where you can
put a picture and tell people a bit about yourself and your hobbies etc. I suppose you may be able to make new aquaintances online here just through uboot. Well on the whole i think uboot.com is a brilliant website. My teenage son uses it all the time and has never had any trouble. What more can i say, it's a well designed site with useful services to offer and the best thing, it's all for nothing. Why not join the free online community of uboot? I did and definitely recommend it! :)
Well i have to say, in my opinion Paul O'grady, alias Lily Savage is quite funny and could make a good comic but this gameshow in which he presents just SUCKS! What a waste of broadcasting space. With a panel of usually gormless celebs it has to make one of the top ten most rubbish on TV. Anyway this opinion needs to be useful so i'll do my best. Basically you have two contestants, panel of celebs, trash consellation prizes and a partridge in a pair tree, Lily Savage. The idea of this so-called game is that Lily the host reads out a sentence to one of the contestants with a missing word hence the title 'Blankety Blank'. The contestant has to think of a word to fill in that blank and so do the panel of celebs and have to write it down. Then when they're ready the contestant shouts out what they thought the answer was and Lily compares that answer to the answers that the panel got. For each matching answer the contestant turns over a slide or something with there being a maximum of 6 matching answers. Then the second contestant does the same thing with a different sentence. After all that engulfing excitement (maybe not excitement but it's funny all the same) the contestant with the most matching answers goes throught to the 'Super match game'. This is where the person is given for example ......pin and they have to pick 3 celebs to play with. Each celeb gives an answer for example safety pin, drawing etc and the contestant can either choose to play with one of their answers or choose their own. If they get the answer right they get some sort of prize and also along with the other failing contestants a quite cheap and tacky looking 'Blankety Blank' cheque book and pen. Wwwoooaaaahhhhh! Anyway i just have to mention the theme tune. You have to watch it at least once just to hear the cheezy theme tune to accompany the cheezy show but if you're stuck for something
to watch it's worth a glance for a laugh. See what you think.
Well on my platter, when i went to the UCI cinema yesterday, the second day after release i expected some amazing cannibal action and fright. After watching Silence of the Lambs starring Anthony Hopkins and Miss J Foster i long awaited a sequel after flesh hungry, Dr Hannibal Lecter escaped. In my opinion Hannibal, the film everyone's been waiting for was a slight disappointment. Without giving away any of the storyline incase you haven't seen it yet i dont think there was much to it. The film was approximately 2 and a quarter hours and honestly for about the first hour and a half nothing really happened only a shooting scene in the first five mins, but you dont see Dr Lecter for a while. I was quite diappointed. Another thing i wasn't too pleased about was that Dr Hannibal 'the cannibal' Lecter was famous due to him basically eating his victims however in Hannibal there's none of this gruesome streak. Although there are a few good killings there's only a slight tasting of brain but that's about it. On a good note the film has a great makeup side. One of the actors in the film plays one of Hannibal's so-called victims who actually survived. Let me put it this way you can't really make out the face and he's still alive. Top knotch makeup! Another thing on the positive side was Clarice's actress. Although not Jody Foster she plays a good part in the film. Sir Anthony Hopkins also plays a brilliant part even if not as intimidating as previously. Overall quite a good sequel it just takes a while for things to hppen. A bit slow in my opinion but still worth a watch even if only to say you've seen it.
I recently took a trip to New York and flew by Virgin Atlantic. The best thing I've ever done. I've been a few places however closer to home than America, and i haven't always enjoyed the flight very much but i definitely recommend Virgin. On a Virgin flight, you're treated right! My flight took just under 8 hours, flying from Gatwick, London to Newark, New York and you're really helped to be comfortable and occupied during your flight. I flew economy however was still a much better standard than other airlines in which i've flown. Firstly, once on the plane and seated you are offered headphones in order to hear the accompanying sound of the TV which is set into the seat infront of you. These unfortunately have to be given back at the end of the flight. The television has a few different channels and depending which Virgin Atlantic aircraft you get to fly in, you may have films showing. On my flight home there were about six or seven of quite recent films showing which were showed at different times so that you could view a couple during your flight. For example; some films showed during my flight were Requim of a dream, Bedazzled the comical, Meet the parents. After settling to fly you are also given a transparent drawstring bag containing some goodies to help you along the tiring trip. In the bag you get a pair of thick socks, an eye mask, lip balm, ear plugs, a Virgin atlantic pen, notepad, tissues, a facial wipe, a small toothbrush and toothpaste, a few vouchers and probably a few more things that i cant remember. Also these things come in different colours however i wasnt too fussy. I think this is quite significant because it's just a gesture that they want to help you enjoy and be comfortable during your flight. It's unnecessary but there are some useful bits and bobs all the same. Then as on every flight you're given the rundown of all the exits which in my opinion makes you more nervo
us even if you're fine before hand... 'Exits at the front, side and behind of you, safety jackets under your seat and oxygen masks above your head' You know the drill. All airlines have to do it. And we all have to listen to it but it's for your safety i suppose... ... Then you get a small menu so you can actually choose what you would like to eat. I think everyone knows that plane food isn't that pretty but even so its the smaller things which make Virgin better than others and a choice is one of them i think. There's free tea or coffee which may be refilled aswell. In my opinion Virgin Atlantic pamper you...or do their best anyway. Your meal comprises of a small main course for example beef bourgouine or something or chicken & mushroom. Then you usually get a small salad (fruit salad if it's a breakfast), a small cake like a chocolate brownie or similar and then a drink. This is neatly presented to you and you get to refill your drink aswell. This just helps their image even more and improves the quality of Virgin airways. Then you have the air host/hostesses. With their prestine dressing are actually quite nice and very helpful compared to the fake smiles of staff on other airlines who cant wait to sit down themselves. With Virgin Atlantic it seems that everything is one or two steps better. You can ask questions if you have queries and to the best of their ability they will try to help you. Their mannerism i found was impeccable. I mentioned that i flew economy but if you're fortunate enough to fly 1st class then prepared to be treated like a king or queen. The seating in which i walked past for 1st class was immense. With plenty of room and also a proper mini bar up there you'd be landed. Obviously there were less seats in the 1st class section, they chairs looked comfier and slightly larger in order for you to relax. There's also plenty of legroom, however economy wasn't that bad just less
in comparison to 1st or business class. I had a brilliant flight. I usually get trouble with my ears however, the takeoff and landing were really smooth. There was a short time where turbulence was experienced but that couldnt really be helped i suppose but apart from that, great! :) There were some spare places on the plane and once everyone was settled i asked one of the air hostesses if it would be possible to move. It was no trouble at all and i got to move near a friend and occupied a window seat instead. It just seemed like nothing was too much trouble for the Virgin Atlantic team. By the way if you're wondering about the toilets well dont expect those to be a step up. They're just as small however there are a couple more than on a smaller aircraft. So you dont have to wait as long. There were five at the back of the plane i think and probably more scattered further towards the front which was convenient for everyone. I totally recommend Virgin Atlantic. I can't wait to try flying by Virgin Express and Virgin Sun and perhaps when im feeling flush i'll try first class. Well worth paying that little extra just to fly with a bit more class. 10 out of 10 in my books. OK 5 stars in dooyoo's eyes.
There have been many trivia games over the years and are now being released on PC. For example Trivial Pursuit was only released recently on PC. However I think Who wants to be a millionaire could go in two directions. Firstly it may be a big hit due to it being much more intense and exciting compared to trivial pursuit for example. The idea of being 15 Questions away from a million gives people the incentive of playing and playing and getting better and more money. The only thing is that you dont actually get the money. The game, i've got for the PC and i do quite enjoy playing it. I dont have much time to play but it is quite addictive when you start playing and the best thing is is that you can take risks because you've got nothing to lose. There are a few disadvantages to the game though in my opinion. This Trivia game produced by HotHouse has mised some minor factors. They may seem trivial mind the pun, but i think they make a difference. For example the crystal clear graphics of the studio are amazing however let down with empty seats showing as there are no audience graphics. I can't imagine it being that difficult just to show a few people. Also I think maybe people will be fed up of Who wants to be a millionaire after them in my opinion really milking it on TV. Apart from that the game's great and I doo recommend it to others especially for kids to just give it a go.
The issue at hand put simply is whether you want other people to be able to damage your health wherever you are. Perhaps that's a bit harsh but in my opinion I think smoking in public places should be banned. The main reason is that of the little writing on the cigarette packet. SMOKING CAUSES CANCER! Many tsets have been made to study the effct of the tar from cigarettes on your lungs etc. and i know that probably everyone knows the sorts of diseases which can occur. For example perhaps two of the worst are cancer and emphysema. However the smokers aren't just harming themselves... It has been said that passive smoking can be worse than first hand smoking. This means that a person just in the surrounding area of a smoker inhaling may be more at risk than the person actually smoking the cigarette. This is because the smoker is inhaling through a filter but the other person isn't. Therefore I believe that smoking in public places should be banned because even if regarded as a relaxation tool for people or to keep them thin, it's still killing them and others around them. It has been proved that a pregnant woman smoking would probably give birth prematurely or with other problems so the same thing may happen to just a person of the public who happens to inhale near a smoker. The arguments seem stronger against smoking in public places than being advantageous.
It'll be tough to choose my ten top albums because there are so many out there. So many different artists, so many different styles of music and so many different PRICES!!! Anyway i think at no>10 it'll have to be good old gorgeous Shania Twain with Come on Over. This country girl has a great voice and her album was great. Her looks aren't too bad either. At number>9 Tom Jones and Reload. What else can say with some fab duets with the Cardigans Burning down the house, Catatonia it's cold outside and the stereophonics mama told me not to come. What else can you say. You just have to have it in your collection. Next i think Gabrielle deserves place at number>8 in my top ten. Rise was the album and so it did up the charts but im not surprised. Gabrielle has the most unique voice which she proves in this album through the medium of her songs which include; Rise and also Sunshine through my window. At>7 i think it'd be Robbie Williams and Sing when you're winning. This pop legend to every teenager in my opinion has got great songs including Supreme and Rock DJ. A great album totally recommend it the only thing is that there isn't a songlist on the back cover. I bet he did that just to be annoying. At numero>6 how bout a bit of mellow rock with the Stereophonics and Performance & Cocktails. This great welsh band have smashed into the charts many a time and this album is brilliant. It includes some of the best songs like; hurry up and wait, pick a part that's new and the infamous hit song just looking. Well half way through now...must be bored out of your wits but on the final five now. Number>5 has to be Destiny's child. Maybe a bit trendy for me but great songs. Never heard of them until one of my sons got the album and practically played it non stop for 2 weeks. Yeah the writings on the wall by destiny's child is definitely a gooden. Great rhythms, lyrics and extreme
ly talented singers. Well impressed. Another one i'd never heard of but come to like now with it played in the house at no>4 It's all about the stragglers by Artful Dodger. What an album its awesome with plenty of upbeat tunes like Movin too fast, please dont turn me on and woman trouble. Just get it. No>3 Well who else. Santana and Supernatural. Not a recent band but their recent songs are really easy and good to listen to and chill out. One of my favourites from the album being Smooth. Wonder where the name came from though??? Numero>deux = Blink182 with Enema of the state. With really fast beat music Blink 182 are definitely worth a number 2 place. The songs are brilliant and this band are so popular. You probably recognise their song names like All the small things and What's my age again? How couldnt you recognise them? ........AND FINALLY......NUMBER ONE........ THE SUSPENSE...My favourite album supplies some of the coolest songs around. Up on par with Will Smith in the pop industry with the songs The thong song and his latest release being the album name. Unleash the dragon and Sisquo. An amazing artist with upbeat but also a few slow songs. Great album for whatever mood your in. Can't fault it! Do you agree with my album choices???
Euthanasia must have to be one of the most controversial topics when regarding people's health. The question which proves dificult for anyone to answer is whether people in certain circumstances should be allowed to assist this act of suicide. In my opinion it depends what situation the victim is in. To begin, for example, say an elderly person is at a hospice and unfortunately terminally ill. Perhaps in this situation the family should be able to decide with the patient whether they would feel it's appropriate. Perhaps the person would feel that euthanasia was a good idea in order to pass away with their pride and dignity. In other points of view people think that maybe the person being ill hasnt the ability to make proper decisions and may be thought of as being cruel for families to assist their loved ones in death. I agree with both points because i think it should be allowed when people have no chance of recovery and WANT to put an end to their life, however, I also agree that perhaps the person isn't up to making decisions and makes a wrong one, this is the wrong time for euthanasia. Thirdly, however how much families and friends would like to help the person to make them comfortable I think it's still very hard and can understand how many people think it to be wrong. To conclude I think that euthanasia is wrong unless the person is in extreme pain and cannot bare to live any longer. Then I think it would be fair for someone to assist someone to their death. This is not saying that I think everyone in pain should get someone to play Mr Reaper just only in cases of extremity.
I understand that there's a lot of controversy over whether the government should be able to monitor all Internet and email use and also whether companies should be able to monitor their employee's use. Well I have different opinions about both issues. To begin, I think that companies should have the ability to monitor employee's usage of the email and Internet. This is because employees are there to work and therefore shouldn’t need to use the email to send unnecessary emails. Also there’s a security factor because if an employee were to be involved in something criminal, involving the company, they would be able to prevent anything damaging happening. I feel that for these reasons employers and companies should be able to monitor Internet and email usage. This isn’t in my opinion an invasion of privacy. However, when concerning the whole public I think it would be an incredible invasion of people’s privacy if the government were to monitor all Internet and email usage. I realise that if the government had this power, criminals could be caught and even more estranged characters such as peodaphiles could be stopped from entering children’s chat rooms. These are very beneficial for everyone’s sake, and if it were only this issue I would be in favour all the way. However, the average person probably has nothing to hide and is still losing their privacy and it’s probably only the minority of the public who are criminals. I suppose we’ll all have to wait and see what happens but on a whole I’m not in agreement with the complete monitoring of Internet and Email use.
There are plenty of things i'd like to cram onto my wishlist it's just the money that puts people off a bit. When you want some of the things that i do below it's quite hard to ensure getting them. 10) To start i think i'd like a nice new collection of top cd's! Grooovy!!! 9) Next I wish for a house makeover for the rooms i don't like and a free servant to tidy up for me. Lazy but i can hope... 8) I on my way to America (NewYork) after christmas so some well warm clothes have definitely gotta be on the list. 7) Plenty and plenty of food to scoff including a massive turkey and loads of sweets and chocolate. 6) A sleak new sports car. When i say new i mean new car not as if i already have a sports car. Although a brand new Vauxall Tigra or Toyota Celica i'll settle for. 5) Although i'm gonna NewYork it's not for long so maybe later on in the year a holiday for a few weeks in the sun would be desired. 4) Number 4 on the list i think i'll ask for a top lawyer to force a divorce between Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston so i can have her. 3) What else shall i wish for.... Ummm how about forget the house maker and just go for a mansion. Let's not cut corners. 2) Finally i want all my family to have a great time and anyone else i know. 1) Finally for christmas i'd like.....the winning lottery ticket to pay for the above i think!!! Well that's what i want. I'll have to report back on what i do get.
BBC's new game show has proved to be top of the talk recently with perhaps the nastiest game show host ever. Anne Robinson holds this title where she shows to be very rude to her contestants and if she takes a dislike to someone she shows it.....WITCH!!! Anyway the concept of the show is quite good and is all based on your trivia knowledge. The game starts with a panel of 10 contestants. The given a certain time Mrs Satan asks in turn questions to each person. There's a money scale on the side of the screen and if they answer correctly the amount of money increases and the maximum is £1000. The next player can then chose to either bank the money or just try their question. If they answer correctly the money increases again but if they fail to answer correctly they return to the bottom of the money scale and whatever they reached doesn't get banked. Then after each round all the contestants have to vote off who they think's the 'Weakest Link'. These are the crucial parts of the show where Anne really shows her colours. She's very blunt and when the names they've voted are called out she picks on people, by saying why 'Chris' seen as you answered more wrongly. You just feel like strangling her, she provokes hatred between contestants. Then in her squeaky voice says,'You're the weakest link, GOODBYE!' and then just looks away. Then the voted one out has a little whine outside the studio and they carry on. At the end when two are left the winner gets whatever prize money they all worked up to. Quite goodviewing but the presenter needs a good slap.
This musical part of cable and satellite TV is definitely more than a box in my opinion! This great channel doesn't just play endless music which half you don't like because it gives you a choice. Don't understand what i mean. The Box every now and then displays lists of songs and artists each with a 3 digit number next to it. Then you'll see a telephone number moving across the bottom of your screen. The concept is that you ring up and give the number to the song you'd like to hear and then after a while they'll put on your song. It's brill however you can't afford to do it very often because of the tariff per minute of the phone-call. Although it's not very cheap to do i think it's a great idea because you get to decide what you want to listen to and is better than listening to the radio because you get to see the vid as well. There's a lot of variety as well and fortunately there aren't mny old ones played, only now and then. You get loads of different songs and artists ranging from Boyzone, Vengaboys, Mariah Carey, and perhaps more hip groups like Destiny's child and TLC etc. Endless television enjoyment. Good channel to leave playing in the background if your busy doing something and you don't have to worry about commentaries etc. You'll find this great channel on no. 38 unless the channels are numbered slightly different with you.
My wife certainly doesn't anyway. I go downstairs to watch some TV butwithut fail if it's Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday later in the evening i've got no chance. It's time for Brookie and no-one's allowed to speak or move a muscle. It's my wife's favourite soap on TV and even i'm getting to know the storylines now as i'm not allowed to switch over. The scousers play good parts and the characters seem quite realistic however i don't think all those things would happen in such a short space of time however they have to make good, interesting TV viewing and i think they do. Set in Brookside close the characters play brilliant parts whther they be the main attraction or in the background. The on going Sinbad plot i think has dragged on a bit too long but seems like it's finally going to be resolved. The public knew as well as his on set so called neighbours that he didn't abuse little Andrew but it was just getting to the bottom of it. The storylines are usually more exciting than other soaps like the club blowing up, Jacqui losing her rich husband to be and Susannah's endless affairs but it's an entertaining soap alright. Gr8 viewing in my wife's opinion and starting in mine as well.
