I recently purchased the Zoom H2n for an online community radio project, and so far, it has served us very well indeed!!
The Zoom H2n has five microphone capsules hidden underneath the basket. Having this amount of microphones allows you to choose from four different modes of recording, these being, Stereo XY, 2 Channel Surround, 4 Channel Surround and MS (Mid Side) Stereo.
Stereo XY records at a 90 degree angle, facing forward, allowing a naturally deep and accurate recording to be captured.
2 Channel Surround mixes signals from both the Stereo XY mic and the MS Stereo mic. Which may be found useful when recording things such as soundscapes, studio sessions, etc.
4 Channel Surround does exactly the same as 2 Channel Surround, but allows you to adjust the audio balance between both the XY and MS mics.
MS (Mid Side) Stereo records forward, to the left and to the right. Capturing sound from directly ahead and to the sides.
The H2n can record at up to 24bit/96kHz in WAV or MP3 format from either the internal microphone or an external microphone source. Because the sound quality of the H2n is so high, it is recommended that you purchase a large SD card to use with it. For example, a 4GB SD card would fill up in no time, whereas, a 16GB SD card would allow a lot more to be recorded/stored on it.
There is a small LCD screen on the Zoom H2n, giving you access to play back recordings, delete recordings, speed up recordings and even use a built in tuner. You can plug in headphones to the H2n to listen to the recording in real time and make sure everything sounds perfect to you!
To prevent clipping during the recording, the H2n has an onscreen VU meter and also has a built in compression and limiting preset. There is also an auto gain control and lo cut filter to reduce the sound of wind, vocal pops and other noises.
This is very handy piece of kit for someone who regularly records things like, interviews, YouTube videos etc. With a high quality, crisp, clear sound, you can't go wrong for the price!
If you look into purchasing the H2n, I would also recommend looking at buying the H2n Accessory pack. This pack comes with everything you need for the best H2n experience. A tripod, handle, remote and PC cable.
Temple Run has been a very highly rated game. The aim is too control the character, avoiding objects and enemies while running from a few evil demon monkeys. The monkeys are chasing you for one reason, you've stolen a golden object from the cave.
While running from the monkeys, they don't appear on the screen, if you stumble over an object, they will show for about 20 seconds before disappearing again.
When controlling the character there are a few different gestures that you use. Swiping upwards makes the player jump, down makes the player slide, left makes the player turn left, and, right makes the player turn right. Also, you can tilt the device left and right, causing the character to move from side to side allowing you too collect the coins.
The game integrates with Game Center, which allows you to gain multiple achievements from within the app. There is a store, which allows you to purchase upgrades, power-ups, wallpapers and new characters.
I downloaded this app while it was a high climber in the UK App Store charts, and still play it months later. It's that addictive. When it first came out, there seemed to be quite a few bugs and glitches within the app, but now, after a few updates it is an amazing app!
It's such a simple game to play, people can have hours of fun playing it. The more coins you get while running, you can purchase more and more upgrades. The moment you start playing, you won't be able to put it down!
I bought this Sumo Suit a few months back, for a dress-up day at work! I, funnily enough, was the only person wearing this suit, but it still provided plenty of giggles for everyone at work. Although I looked an idiot, it was still a great idea!
The suit came, flat packed into a small rectangular vacuum bag. It came with everything needed, the suit and even a sumo hat. The only thing that wasn't included was the batteries to run the fans (4x AA Batteries). You slip the suit on, get someone to zip the zip up from behind and you can then inflate.
Inflation takes a tiny amount of time, less than a minute. The more you move around, the more air can escape. Around the neck, wrist and legs are pieces of thread which are used to stop air escaping.
Obviously, one size fits all, but for taller people the more ankle will show, that was the only problem I have experienced.
The suit is made from Nylon, so once it is fully inflated it can get quite hot, especially on a hot day. But to get around this bugging me I just let some air out every time it's full and it lets a bit of colder air in too!
I managed to purchase this suit from Amazon UK, which cost around £20, so is pretty cheap considering the price locally is around twice as much.
I have grown up with Apple devices in my life, and have to say, the iPhone 5 is truly amazing!
The iPhone 5 comes packaged in a tiny box, as many Apple products do get shipped in the smallest packaging possible. Inside the box, you get, your iPhone 5 with latest iOS installed. You also get the new Apple EarPods, Apple have taken it into their hands to completely redesign earphones, and have done a pretty amazing job in those steps. You get the usual USB Power adapter, and also the brand new Lightning cable. The amazing thing about the Lightning cable is the size and the double sided tool! You can plug the cable into your iPhone either way, try doing that with the old 30-pin adapter.
The iPhone 5 is taller, but not wider that previous versions of the iPhone. The length hasn't been improved massively, but just enough to fit 1 more row of applications to your home screen.
It is available in Black & Slate, or White & Silver. I have gone with White & Silver, just because my personal opinion is that it looks nicer!
You can get the iPhone 5 in 3 different sizes. 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Again, tailor this to your needs, I went for 16GB as I feel this is plenty!
I upgraded from the iPhone 3GS to the iPhone 5, so obviously have made a vast improvement in that step. I have noticed many different/new features. Siri being one of them. I would like to see Siri get improved over the years as it will be a great tool, if it could do more than it can at the moment!
Apple decided to take it into their hands to scrap Google Maps, which has left many customers unhappy. The new Apple Maps isn't as good as Google Maps, but give it time and Apple will improve it massively! I mean, just look at how much more improved their other products are since the beginning.
The new A6 chip is as powerful as ever. A massive improvement on the 3GS and twice as fast as the A5 chip, which was in the iPhone 4S.
I was stuck with this phone for a good few years, a didn't have a problem once with it!
This mobile is affordable and comes with a great variety of features. You can download and place widgets on the phone, even Facebook, Twitter and Bebo (if you still use it).
As for the design, lets just say, yes, the front does look pretty nice! Turn it to the side, it isn't the thinnest of mobiles, which ruins the design! The screen resolution is just 420 x 320 pixels, so doesn't really compete with larger companies such as Apple. But still, that isn't bad for a phone that's slowly getting old!
The camera is pretty depressing on this phone also! It is only 3.15MP with no focus or flash. So don't but this phone thinking you're going to get professional snaps, because you're not.
Also, with this phone, you'd expect some sort of virtual QWERTY keyboard. That's not the case too. You get a simple, virtual alphanumeric keyboard instead. Which actually seems to be fading from the mobile phone industry now as technology advances.
You can insert a microSD card, expanding the memory up to 16GB. This allows you to build a nice music library to listen to on the go.
Battery life is also superb in the Monte. It has a large 1000mAh battery, giving a battery life that can last for quite a while!
As for connecting to the internet, this phone is great for that too! It has both 3G and WiFi capabilities, so stay connected to the internet pretty much 24/7.
So, I had the Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite phone the other year, before choosing to follow the crowd and go with the iPhones!
This phone is a great built, low priced mobile. For around £60 you can get a mobile phone, with multiple, useful features! The phone has the usual features nowadays, such as, Bluetooth, FM Radio and Touch functionality. I list goes on, but I'll stop there.
The camera take photos at only 3.2 megapixels, which nowadays isn't the best quality. But still, that's pretty good if this is your first ever mobile phone, right?
If you are planning on using this mobile for internet, and are not constantly on WiFi, I don't recommend it. The reason being, this phone doesn't have 3G compatibilty.
The touch screen however is a lot better than a few touch mobiles. It seems very responsive when touched and even vibrates in your hand each time you tap.
The design is a beautiul, with a lot of dark, black colouring and small silver parts. It has a sort of Black, Chrome effect.
So if you're thinking of purchasing your first ever mobile, or just want a low budget phone, the Tocco Lite is definitely the way to go.
I purchased these MS16 monitors to go with a studio set up. Obviously, as they are quite cheap, I thought these would be a great start for the studio.
I have heard a lot of bad things about Behringer products, as they are cheap, but from personal experience, I have never had a problem with any Behringer products.
These speakers are very clear, bass stands out, and are very ideal for people who are looking to upgrade from those standard shabby desktop PC speakers. These are definitely the best monitors I have used, especially for the price.
The speakers are very good looking also, very sleek and also very light.
When the speakers arrive, they come with all essential cables, which makes life 10x times easier when it comes to actually setting them up.
On the front of the speaker, there is 3 knobs. One controlling the treble, one controlling the bass and also the master volume knob. Next to the 3 knobs is a microphone input.
So, if you're looking for a cheap pair of monitor speakers, Behringer MS16 monitors are the way to go. You won't be let down!
I was told about the LX-3000 a few years back by a friend, so decided to purchase one. My overall opinion of this headset is, amazing. The quality, of both the microphone and the headphones is amazing. Crisp, clear sound from both of them!
The headset is powered via USB, which means it is a plug-and-play headset. Plug it in, and away you go. There is a small circular remote half way down the cable with 4 different buttons and an LED light. The buttons allow you too mute your microphone, increase the volume level, decrease the volume level and open up Microsoft LiveCall (if installed). All of these functions make use easier. Definitely a great headset if you Skype a lot.
Everything with this headset seems pretty wicked. But, there is one flaw.
The headset is comfortable for a while, but after so long your ears can start hurting. This is cause by the rubber padding over your ears. It doesn't surround your ears, it sits on them. Causing them to be constantly pinned against your head, so when you take them off, they tend to hurt slightly. Prevent this by removing the headphones for about 10 minutes every half hour or so.
The Microsoft LX-3000 is compatible with both Windows and Mac, so don't be put off by the fact it is a Microsoft product. You can buy this directly from Microsoft for only £24.99. This price is great, considering the quality of the headset!
I was on the search for a decent pair of over-ear headphones, when I stumbled across Sennheiser. After doing my research I found these wonderful Sennheiser HD 201 headphones.
The design of the Sennheiser headphones is pretty sturdy also. The colour scheme is a simple black and grey choice, with the Sennheiser logo on the outer ear area. These Sennheiser's feel great, not only while wearing them, but also while they are sitting around your neck. Although they are quite cheap, they certainly don't feel it.
The sponge padding fits comfortably around the whole ear. They also have multiple adjustments to help fit your head, the ear pieces swivel and extend. Comfort deserves a 7 or 8 out of 10.
So, on to the sound quality. After all, that is what they are for.
The sound quality is pretty wicked, especially for the price. It is very crisp and clear. They don't provide much bass, but after a while of using these you get used to that. They could also be louder, usually the music needs to be turned right up on my iPhone and iPad to get a good listening experience, but that may be because I love my music loud. Sound deserves a 9/10 easily on these.
To sum up this review, these headphones are outstanding value for money. Around £20 on Amazon UK.
I use the MagSafe Power Adapter in my Apple MacBook. They are great chargers, and the design, as with most Apple products, is pretty magnificent.
The cable connection is held in place by a magnet, making it safer if the wire is tugged and happens to come out of the laptop. At the main end of the adapter, there is a changeable end, so you can use the chargers in loads of different countries just by changing the adapter type.
The connector pins inside the charger have been designed so it can be inserted in either orientation. One problem here is, if the connector is facing one way, unfortunately it blocks some ports.
There is a small LED light on the connector, indicating the charge level in the laptop. If the light is green, the MacBook is charged. If the light is amber or red, the MacBook is charging.
Inside the connector end, there a 5 pins. 4 larger pins and 1 smaller pin, in the center. 2 pins inside the connector are grounded, preventing any dangerous situations for users. 2 pins in the connector carry the DC charge, and, the smaller pin, in the center controls the charge.
The MagSafe 60W charger comes in at around £60, which is quite expensive for what it is. You can get cheap, knock off versions of the MagSafe charger, but I doubt very much they work as well as the original Apple ones. Instead of wasting money on a cheaper version, that could possibly stop working after so long, I would go for the original Apple MagSafe charger.
I first used Joop a few years back, when my parents bought me a small 75ml bottle. As soon as I had used it, I was gobsmacked. The smell was beautiful! The best smelling aftershave I have ever smelt.
When you buy Joop, you usually get it in a small rectangular box. Inside that box, is the 75ml bottle of Joop Homme. The bottle has a twist lid, it easily opens, and easily tightens. Some men would be put off because the colour of the bottle is dark purple (they may think it's a girls aftershave). But after doing my research, 'homme' is French for 'man'.
The scent is very potent, so don't spray loads before you go out. I know for a fact, ladies love the smell of Joop on a man. You will smell the fragrance all day long, but don't be put off by this as it isn't harsh on your nose. When spraying Joop, it is already fruity, but after it has dried, you get an even fruitier, sweet scent.
You can buy a 75ml bottle of Joop Homme off eBay for around £16 and as you only spray a little bit at a time, this bottle can last a good month or two. That's just a quick search, if you shop around, who knows, you might get it even cheaper. Stores such as Boots and Superdrug also would stock Joop.

After suffering with a dry scalp for some time a few year back, it got to the point where I needed something to help aid it, so I decided to buy some Head and Shoulders Anti Dandruff Shampoo, and it is possibly the best anti dandruff shampoo available.
It really tackles the dry skin and dandruff, leaving you with a clean scalp. For best results with Head and Shoulders, I tend to scrub the shampoo into my head at much as possible, to make sure it tackles the dry skin that is actually on my scalp. The smell of the shampoo isn't amazing, so to get a clean smelling head, I tend to use another shampoo afterwards to make it smell better.
There are other, cheaper branded, anti dandruff shampoos available, but they don't work as well as Head and Shoulders. In my opinion, Head and Shoulder is cheap anyway, especially for those on a tight budget.
I have rated this 4 stars. +4 stars for how well it works. -1 star for the smell.
The Aurora AS610C is a great shredder, especially for use in the office. We use it to shred many things, from paper to card.
If you do shred a lot, you will have to empty the bin a lot. The bin is 11 litres in size so does hold quite a lot of shredded items.
We often shred a few sheets of paper, stapled together. Instead of having to pull out the staples before shredding, the AS610C also shreds staples, paperclips and even credit cards.
It is only a 6 sheet shredder, meaning don't shred anymore than 6 pages at a time. I have tried shredding higher, it does work, but do you really want to put strain on the motor inside? I certainly don't!
If you shred a lot, and are continuously shredding, sometimes a shredder can get quite hot. But with the AS610C that is not the case. It has a built in thermal cut out feature, which prevents the shredder from overheating. It also has a safety feature which prevents you from shredding when the waste bin is not attached. So you won't go shredding your fingers off.
The shredder is automatic, and also has a reverse function. All of these tiny features make the shredder a great tool to have by your desk at home, or at work. It is definitely worth the investment.
You can purchase this shredder for just under £30 online, again, this is a great price, especially for the quality of the shredder.
Overall, this is a great shredder and a lot better than most other shredder which often struggle.
Up until the other month, I was using my iPhone 3GS to take all my photos. The trouble is, the camera isn't particularly amazing quality on the 3GS. So I set out to buy a cheap, decent, good quality camera.
And this is exactly what I found.
I prefer the picture quality of this camera, that my phone, by far. Obviously when you zoom right in, and take a photo, the quality does decrease. Although there is a 3x optimal zoom, which doesn't really reduce quality.
The camera has a 14MP camera, meaning the pictures are sharp and clear. Especially when face recognition locks onto faces. You can crop, enlarge and print the pictures and still have a decent quality picture. Video quality on the other hand isn't as good. Videos are 640x480, so aren't the best quality, as you can imagine.
I bought mine from Ebuyer online, without a memory card. Instead I managed to get a 8GB SD card for it, which holds a lot of photos, considering I don't really use it that often. I also find the batteries don't last as long as I would expect, from new. They last a few hours, but really don't know how to make them last any longer.
The Kodak Easyshare software makes it easier to share pictures with Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. It also makes it easier to share videos on websites such as YouTube. The software also allows you to edit photos easily, removing red-eye, increasing lighting and more.
The box comes with, the camera, 2x AA batteries (required for the camera to operate), USB computer cable, user guide and a wrist strap for the camera.
You can pick these cameras up for about £60, which honestly, is a great price for this camera!
Obviously this is nothing like a digital SLR, but for what it is, and the price, you get what you pay for!
